Based on my personal experience, I have serious concerns about how workplace conduct and investigations were handled within the Haselwood Auto Group. In 2024-2025, I reported an incident of "many"involving a Westhills Used Car Director that I personally experienced as physically inappropriate. I notified upper management, and I provided photos of the resulting marks to upper management. To my knowledge, the incident was not formally documented with HR at the time. As of today, the director I reported remains employed. I was informed that an outside investigator was hired to review multiple workplace‑conduct concerns involving discrimination and inappropriate behavior by long‑term senior managers. I am aware that two senior managers were later terminated, one used‑car sales manager was terminated, and one sales manager resigned. A sales employee who witnessed some of the incidents I reported told me they were never asked any questions about those specific events during the investigation. Instead, they were only asked about unrelated allegations. This raised concerns for me about the thoroughness of the investigative process. HR asked me what accountability looked like from my perspective. At the time, I answered with empathy. Now, after dealing with the impact of these experiences, my feelings have changed. I believe that meaningful accountability is important for anyone affected by discrimination, inappropriate conduct, or hostile workplace behavior. If I'm being transparent, they should be F I R E D!! Period!! I recently reported to HR several incidents from 2012 that I personally experienced as sexually inappropriate. I also provided an eyewitness statement describing what I understood to have happened during those incidents. At the time, I did not file a formal complaint because I feared retaliation from both the individual involved and the company. Based on what I know today, the manager I reported is still employed. These experiences, along with other workplace‑conduct concerns I have witnessed or reported over the years, have shaped my belief that serious issues within the Haselwood Auto Group have not always been addressed in a transparent or effective way. I understand trying to upsell service customers with "recommended" services, but come on. Recommended by who? Not Mazda... recommended by you of course. They legit recommended that I have the transfer case serviced for over $200 on my front wheel drive Mazda3. SURE, lets do it... just show me the transfer case first. Oh wait, it doesn't have one. Also if you try to pay in cash they'll absolutely refuse to give you any change, yet nowhere do they have it posted or tell you beforehand that exact change is required. Yet they'll charge you a service fee for using a card. What kind of idiotic policy is that? The musclehead service manager or whatever he is tried to guilt me into just donating the extra because they refused to give change. No thanks. I don't need to give you even more $ so you can make corporate donations to receive extra tax refunds using your customers' $. read more

I am officially done with West Hills Mazda. Save yourself the headache and take your vehicle for maintenance elsewhere to someone more reputable. My experience started in November 2025 after a standard oil change. I picked the car up late, and within minutes on the freeway, the entire cabin filled with smoke due to a mechanic error involving a belt. The service department's response was essentially "tough luck." They refused a loaner and told me to pay for a tow myself. Despite promising reimbursement, they have been nothing but difficult. They accepted my Lyft receipt for the ride home, but then claimed the tow receipt "wasn't enough" and demanded a formal invoice instead. As a busy person, it took me some time to get that specific paperwork to them, but the timeline shouldn't matter when the dealership is the one who caused a safety-related breakdown on a brand-new car. I still haven't seen a dime. Two days ago, I brought my 2024 CX-90 PHEV in because the i-Activ system was non-functional. Even though the car is under warranty, they charged an unjust $200 diagnostic fee, claiming a sensor was "damaged" but repeatedly refusing to provide a part number or a photo of said damage. To top it off, they now charge a 3% surcharge on credit card transactions and had the audacity to try to upsell me on a finance plan for the repair while I was trying to pay. This dealership has a pattern of scummy practices and a total lack of transparency. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. read more

I've been meaning to review this place. I bought a used RX-8 from a friend of mine. It seemed to maybe start exhibiting a fuel problem. They are finicky cars. The dear friend I purchased it from said that there were a couple recalls I could get fixed for free . . . Well . . . One of the recalls was for the control arms, I believe. The other may have been the fuel tank. The cool thing is, my friend saw that they have to replace the fuel pump when they redo the tank. So I took advantage of my recalls, not just to have a safer vehicle, but to remedy my fuel issue for free. Mind you, this was a few years ago at least. I come in there dressed in FULL hippie attire, with a ukulele, smelling of beautiful patchouli. I was quite a sight. I went for the patina hippie look, so with holes in my clothes, I looked out of sorts to the world. From A to Z, begining to end, these people took care of me greatly! My friend said that they may rent me a rental car. Well . . . They did better than that. They put me in one for free! It was the previous years model, but it was fantastic! I had already planned on doing a Leavenworth trip in my RX-8 that weekend, so I presumed that ethically I could use the car for that. The car had on screen controls, and it was neat to see the elevation when I hit the mountain. There was a dust devil when I arrived. I tried to close the hatch as soon as I could, but sand got inside the back. When I gave the car back, I vacuumed as much of that darn sand out of the back that I could, but I bet the detailer still sucked up some after my work. I have a feeling that their detail shop has better vacuums than mine. I checked the car back in and all was well. They treated me with respect, dignity, and trust; although my appearance may have been quite odd. I played a cute melody quietly in the lobby with my uke. It was well received. I highly recommend taking in any vehicles that have recall notices. It's worth it, and you'll get to drive a lovely vehicle, if they still do that. TLDR: Don't trust this shop with your car, they are non-responsive and unprofessional. Find a different shop. I had my car serviced back in June and they didn't bother to diagnose the check engine light until after they returned the car to me and I reminded them about it. Then I was told that there were two service bulletins (Mazda faulty parts) on the vehicle that were causing the check engine light, and they didn't have the parts to fix it immediately, but they weren't sure if they were on back order or not but they said they would call me with the status. Several weeks went by and I didn't hear anything from them so I called during business hours and nobody picked up so I left a message which nobody returned. I called again a week later and was able to speak to a service advisor who said that they didn't have the parts and they didn't know why they didn't have the parts, they thought they were back ordered, but they didn't show up as back ordered on the system, so they were going to have to start an investigation. Months have gone by and I haven't heard from them, I've called and left messages, no response. It's now October (4 months later) and I was ready for another oil change, since I still haven't heard from West Hills, I took my car to South Tacoma Mazda, they were professional and fixed my service bulletin (clearing the check engine light) in a single visit. Still no word from West Hills Mazda. I really try to give local businesses the benefit of the doubt before leaving a negative review, but this is unacceptable. read more

We had an incredible experience today buying our new CX-5 from TJ. He is the exact opposite of the usual pushy salesman you dread meeting when buying a car. At first we thought " hmm there is no way someone can be this positive, knowledgeable and happy to help us ".. WRONG! He genuinely is incredibly passionate about what he does and turns a dreaded car buying trip into an up beat really positive experience. I had my CX5 serviced on 3/2/2)22,had the multipoint inspection done. The only issue was the engine air filter. The paperwork Indicated all the requisite fluids and inspections were satisfactory. On my way home I got a warning indicator that my windshield washer fluid was low. I added one half gallon of windshield washer fluid when I got home. I called the Mazda dealer service department and was informed that next time I brought my vehicle in, they owed me some Windshield washer fluid. Windshield washer fluid was satisfactory by the paperwork! Update, I was called by service manager, I will take my car back for the next maintenance, and we will work out the details. The service mechanic was called to the office, and that is all I can expect. read more

I bought a used Mazda. The car was an $18,000 car. When everything was said and done and I finally got my car loan in the mail. They charged me $25,000. The guy doing the paper work, I dont remember his name. Kept redoing the paper work and making "mistakes." I had to come back, 2 times to sign paperwork he "forgot" to have me sign, according to him. I thought I was being charged one price and by the time we got it all done, And I had all paperwork had a bunch of BS charges. That guy doing the paperwork and financing is a snake. Be careful buying a car here and make sure, before you leave that the price doesnt change. Id zero stars if I could. This was at the used car lot. They take advantage of you. It's too late for me, but hopefully this helps someone else. read more

Total failure. My wife took the CX-9 in for an oil change. Had the appointment, checked in, waited an hour, was called, told the car was ready to take home. She came home, I checked the oil level (you get what you inspect, not what you expect). I was curious that they didn't give her any paperwork, especially the 497 point inspection where they hunt for more work to sell you. Low & dirty oil. They didn't touch anything. I called, had the service writer check the work order. Alas...no oil nor filter was charged to this job, so we know nothing was done. They just forgot to change the oil. Never again. read more

Absolute horrible service. From the service department to the sales floor. I had my Mazda CX-7 towed to the dealership because it wouldn't start. It needed a new AC compressor. Brenda in the service department didn't even have my paperwork in front of her when she called me so she couldn't tell me what was wrong with my vehicle. I went in and talked to the "Number 1 Mazda tech in the US" and he told me my compressor had metal in it. He looked at the car for at most 20 minutes. There is no way he could have found metal in 20 minutes. Mazda quoted me $2000 to repair my car that they misdiagnosed. I decided I would talk to the sales floor and possibly trade my Mazda in instead. They told me they would text, call AND email me the next day and I never heard from them. They failed to mention to me the customer cash promotion going on, and the manufacture loyalty program. They won't return your calls or voicemails for a week. Then you get a survey in your email and once you rate them low they call you within an hour. I ended up buying the compressor and replacing myself for $125. I will never take my Mazda or consider purchasing one here ever again. read more

We took our car to the service department for an oil change and tire rotation, but asked specifically to inspect a tire that was losing air. The tire pressure sensor light came on every few days, and my husband had been putting air in that tire manually every couple days for weeks. The advisor made a note of it for the mechanic, and when the work was done, they told me that they inspected the tire very carefully and could not find the leak. They had reset the system so the tire sensor light was off when we drove it home, but it came back on the very next day. My husband checked the gauge, and it was most definitely losing air. Still. I scheduled another appointment with Mazda three weeks out, but we decided to cancel it and go somewhere else. What would be the use if we got the same mechanic and they told us the same thing? The time and effort it takes to get the car up there and wait for hours is a huge disruption to our schedule, so we needed good, reliable service. After another two weeks of hearing the tire sensor come on and beep and checking the pressure and filling the air manually, my husband decided to take it to Les Schwab. Within 5 minutes, they found a screw in the tire, patched it, and sent him home. And they did it for free. Les Schwab is phenomenal. We are very disappointed with the service at Mazda, especially because Les Schwab found the problem so quickly and was able to fix it. read more

I bought my car in early December, the sales part was fine. Was told to go to dumb yo get my plates, dmv said the dealership is sending them. My plates were finished processing Jan 2nd they never showed up do I called. Now we are down to the one star section. They claim they called. No record of that. The plates sat there, no one did anything like email, send them, actually call and leave a message. Talked to the manager and it was difficult to listen. It sounded like he was eating a snack. He assumed I would just drop by and pick them up he said. I live about an hour away with good traffic, it's not exactly convenient. I said their process was pathetic and he said I shouldn't use words like that. Zero apology. I'm hoping they are being mailed but who knows. Tried to act like they didn't have my email address, home address or phone number. Tried to make everything my fault. No responsibility for customer care. When I asked to talk to the manager I was told I couldn't because he was in a meeting. I had to remind her I could still get out through and leave a message. He was in his office after all. I'm updating my review. The manager called me back yesterday to see if my plates had arrived. They had not but did arrive in the evening. We talked some more about the customer service. He did apologize for all of the confusion. We had a nice talk and it's all resolved. My situation was apparently brought up in their meeting about this issue. Thank you! read more

If I could I wouldn't even leave one star. From the moment I brought my Mazda CX-5 in for an oil change I felt like they were wanting to sell me something. The new set up is cold feeling. Left it for the day and came back to pick my car up and the guy said I needed my CV shaft fixed because it's flicking oil. Quote was $1,044) He also said my car's not safe and looked at my like "I got this lady" o looked right at him and said I'm not paying to get that done today. I will be taking it somewhere for a second opinion. He looked at me like he lost commission. Took my place to get the second option and come to find out they couldn't find anything wrong with my car. As a mother/ wife what a relief of stress. Another thing Mazda passed my car for good window wipers when I indeed needed new ones. Mazda didn't change the oil change sticker so now I don't even know if they did an oil change. I will never ever go back to West Hills Mazda ever. I can't trust these people. I did receive a call back saying "I'm sorry you had a bad experience I assure you we had two people look at your car... can you come back so we can show you when it's lifted up?Why would I ever bring my car back so you can damage it and have me come back and look at it. Overall a good place but two. Issues. One was the "what can we do to get you in a car today" comment was done in a sleazy off handed way. We left immediately. Months later went back and bought a new car with no problem. I also have an oil change plan. I get asked to replace the cabin filter held horizontal with leaf material on it to change for $50 dollars, I said no and said to shake it off and put it back. I bought one myself and changed it in 10 seconds at a fraction the cost. Wife goes in on next oil change and they do the same thing. This is done in a sleazy way, stacking dirt on it to present to owners and charge so much for it when it still was new and they could simply blow it off and offer tgat as a choice. Recommend you tell their management whenever you see this practice. I can see vulnerable families and elderly falling for this unnecessary cost. read more

Soooooo.... i bought a NEW Mazda 3 in April 2017. i went thru the Costco program to save money. i was hesitant due to all the bad reviews i read about West Hills Mazda. i contacted Costco about this and they said they didn't have many problems with this Mazda dealer. sooooooooo.... i did go to West Hills Mazda to buy my car and actually had a GREAT experience with the purchase of my new car. i asked if they were offering a rebate, and the guy who brings in the paperwork for you to sign, said "i don't think so but i'll check." when he brought my paperwork to me there actually WAS a $1500.00 rebate! so all that made me happy. i don't live close so i take my car to my local mechanic for service. but in July 2019 there was a recall on something so i took my car back for that. service was really good then, everyone was friendly and happy. i was in & out in no time. at the time i told them that my windshield had leaked about 3 times. they said to bring it in, it was under warranty and they would take care of me. well NOT! NOT AT ALL! when i showed up for my appointment, they told me that since it had only leaked about 3 times, that sounded fishy. they gave me paperwork to sign and it said that if they DID NOT find out where the leak was coming from, then i would have to pay $135.00. i told Chris W., a very nice young guy who said he was the service manager, that i was NOT going to pay $135 since my car was under warranty. he said that i would have to agree to this before they would service my car. what the hell?!?!?!? who does this? MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY! again i told him i was NOT going to pay the $135.00 for any reason since it was under warranty. he then said something like "well our mechanics have to pay for their tools & i have bills to pay too!" that was after i told him i lived on a fixed income (senior here) and couldn't afford $135.00. i said i wanted to speak to the service manager, he said he WAS the manager. i said i want to speak to YOUR boss. so after a short while, HIS boss, which i did not get his name, told me the same thing. that it was kind of fishy that my front windshield had only leaked THREE times. i asked him if he thought i was making this all up, and he said no. but that the mechanics had to pay for their tools and everyone had bills to pay and if they DID NOT find out WHY my front window was leaking, then i would have to pay them $135. so they wanted ME to pay for their failures!!!! i agree that it's interesting that i've only noticed my windshield leaking 3 times. once this past winter when we got 3 feet of snow, once when i went thru a car wash, and once when i was sitting in my car waiting for my grandson's school to get out. but it's not MY fault that this car has sporadic leaking problems! i'm old and barely drive it much. i'm only averaging 3000 miles yearly. i've never crashed it or bumped it or damaged the front windshield. it should have been taken care of regardless of if it had leaked 3 or 3000 times!! i've contacted the Attorney General about this matter. i've also talked to my son in law who works in the auto industry and he said West Hills Mazda has a terrible terrible reputation in their service dept and has for years. he told me to take it to another Mazda dealer and they would be happy to look at my car at no cost when they learn that West Hills Mazda did not honor the warranty. he said that West Hills wanted me to pay for one hour of labor, and that is what the $135.00 was for. Sorry Chris W for this terrible review, but you did me wrong and i told you i would write a truthful review about this experience. you seem like a really nice guy, but you work for a place that tries to cheat folks out of their money! you can post a rebuttal that says my experience is not normal, but you'd be untruthful. i'm old and don't have time for this nonsense. remember when i was telling your boss that i paid $20K cash for my car, when he was complaining about your mechanics needing money to pay for their tools, and his response was "we don't care how much you paid for your car." People, go anywhere but don't go to West Hills Mazda if you need your car serviced. they do NOT honor the Mazda warranty. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh . . . .. ... so i did leave and did not pay them the $135.00 and they did not work on my car. read more
