The worst. I called to get a powder acrylic manicure while I was in town. they said come over we close soon. The tech kept getting up walking around looking for tools and asking the owner what to do. Finally the owner said she's finish doing my manicure. She was the worst. Same thing looking for things she did a terrible job she changed the color I wanted to a ugly pink she didn't listen to anything I wanted and kept making excuses why she couldn't do. It look older 2 hours and came out so bad. I will say the owner is super sweet and so nice so I feel bad writing this but they are so inexperienced. I love this place and have been going here twice a month for no chips. They always last and look great. However, today I had the only male tech in the salon and he cut all my nails off! DO NOT let him do your nails. My friend had him and her nails chipped and peeled the day after. He doesn't listen to customer concerns, just does whatever he wants. I'm very upset that he cut my nails off, I told him I was growing them out for my wedding next weekend, but he didn't seem to care and cut them super short. 5 months of growing my nails out to have them super short for my wedding. I went there for a no chip manicure and pedicure, then returned a little over two weeks later to get the manicure removed and get a regular manicure with clear polish. I thought the pedicure was good; those massage chairs are great. The no chip manicure was not the best. She didn't get the polish close enough to the cuticle so the grow-out was immediately obvious; I mean I know you'll get the blank space in week 2, but I had a blank space pretty much from day one. So by week 2, it's not looking so great. One of my nails also broke and the polish chipped off. But that was after almost two weeks, so I wouldn't ding them for that. It's more that when I went back to get the no-chip taken off and a regular manicure, a few things: 1. It took over an hour. A regular manicure with clear polish should be quicker than that ... the technician was S.L.O.W; 2. She cut the skin on one of my fingers; 3. She left a tiny smear of (dark) polish in a corner of my thumbnail; 4. Halfway through the manicure, some god-awful stink filled the place, I mean it was a sewer smell, and it persisted for a good 15 or 20 minutes. No one acknowledged it, but it was absolutely horrible. Anyway, the place is okay, and if you want a pedicure with a full-on massage chair, go for it. But you can do better than this salon. read more

Went in for the first time today and got the deluxe spa pedicure and the no-chip manicure. Both look great. The pedicure was $37, and definitely worth the money, it included an amazing cooling scrub that still has my legs tingling. The only down side was she did not scrub/file my feet as much as I'd like, so they are still rough in some places. :( She probably would have file more if I'd asked, but to be honest I was reading a book and didn't notice until she was already applying polish. POLISH! They have ALL the OPI colors, even the new ones, and lots of other brands, too. Their no-chip brand is Gelish, and is very good, with lots of choices, there, too. Summer did my manicure and she was pleasant, super attentive and my no-chip nails look great! I'd definitely recommend this place for someone looking for an inexpensive regular nail shop. Please note: this is not a spa, even though some people made it sound like it was spa-ish, it isn't. This is a typical rows-of-chairs-along-each-wall kind of place, but nicer than most. read more

I have been a regular patron of West Loop Nail & Spa for several years. As mentioned, they only accept cash tips. This is a little frustrating, but the service and charm of West Loop Nail & Spa make up for it! The staff is friendly and welcoming. Vanessa or Tuan warmly greets you when you walk in the door. They remember customer names and provide outstanding customer service. Tina does a fantastic job with gel nails and no-chip manicures and is so sweet! They have a great $55 special on pedicures and no-chip manicures Monday - Thursday. They are frequently busy, but can accommodate same-day appointments and provide accurate wait times. The staff at this location does not have basic knowledge of nails. I needed a tip on my thumb nail and only one person knew how to do it. They made us feel like we were inconveniencing them because they had to remove our No Chip polish. We made an appointment and still had to wait to get in. It took them one and half hours to do my friends pedicure. We both still have calluses on our feet. A waist of money. Not a great experience at all. Won't be returning. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. The manager (short Chinese lady with braces) is super rude! I came in right when doors open bc I had my baby with me and I wanted to get in and out before others arrived. The lady rushed on my polish change and no chip bc she had an appointment which isn't my problem someone else should've serviced me. The manager asked me to come back bc my baby was being loud (laughing/talking) and her customer were "trying to relax" ..excuse me!? After a manicure I was left with polish all over my cuticles. When I asked if it could be removed I was told that because I was TALKING while getting my nails done, polish ended up all over my cuticles. This was after the tech nearly cut off my finger removing my cuticles. YIKES! So surprised by the bad reviews! I have been here at least 10 times including for my wedding nails and never had an issue. I get regular mani and pedi most of the time and mani stays for two weeks many times! I don't have a regular technician they all do a great job and it really lasts. I am a recent convert to the no-chip manicure, and this place is perfect. First, quality. I got a great no chip mani (seriously, flawless) and a nice pedi in a relaxing and pleasant environment. No, the massage wasn't 40 minutes long, but I wasn't in the mood to be there all day, so that works for me. Tons of colors to choose from, too! Second, they have specials. I paid $55 for the no-chip mani and pedi. Yes, it's at inconvenient times (M-Th 10 am - 4 pm). But I had a random day off, and this worked out wonderfully. Last, speed. They can do a no chip mani and (regular) pedicure in a little over an hour. Again, some people won't dig this, but this is perfect for me. I'd recommend making an appointment (a couple walk ins came in while I was there, and it was 50/50 whether they got in when they wanted), and parking is obviously not going to work too well in that area. But overall a great place, right by public transit. read more

My sister and I recently got no-chp manicures at West Loop Nail Salon and were not impressed. Our manicures felt rushed and the staff was not friendly. Also, my sister's manicure was not the color she had selected. They did not offer a beverage (actually did not even have water for customers) or do anything special to make me want to come back. UPSETTING- my coworker recommended this place and I should have stuck with my appointment at my regular nail shop. I started with $8 in the parking meter because I'd knew we be two hours or so didn't expect to be longer. I needed my nails done, because I was leaving town that night we got in about 10am I didn't finish until almost 1. I was getting, gel with no chip and my feet scraped because the no chip on my feet still looked ok, and my girl just regular no chip. I kinda figured she would be finished first so when he was done with my feet she was done with her nails. So he got started on my nails and just and the phone kept ringing so he kept stopping to answer it which made me angry. Then he just started to apply gel polish not gel powder so I had to stop him have him take it off because I wasn't getting gel nails so he had to take that off and start over so at that point he handed me off to another lady who made my nails really thick in the inside which does not allow your real nails to grow. I had to put more money in the meter which is now up to $16. So the icing on the cake i ask her what my total is she don't answer takes my card swipes it for $80! Just to scrape my feet and gel no chip. this is far beyond one of the worst nail shops I've been to and the most expensive. I will never be back. We called ahead two days prior to book these appointments. So it's not like they didn't have a heads up on what we wanted, we even asked if they offered it there. I should have believed the reviewer who said they were terrible with fake nails. THEY ARE. Everything is an extra $5. I wanted a round nail. $5 extra. I brought my own bedazzle, $5 extra PER NAIL. They have this annoying dog & it licked the mouth of my water bottle in my purse. And the straw of my friend's coffee who was waiting for me. When I told the manager she said "my other customers have no problems with him." I wanted them long, they did them medium length. They woman did like 3 coats when only one was needed (since its a matte nailepolish), which made my naiIs look clunky. I DO NOT recommend this place. $37 for acrylic nails is a rip off. I recommend going somewhere on the south side where they do it cheaper, quicker, and follow instructions properly. read more

By far the worst customer service in Chicago, have never been treated so poorly by staff. I will never again consider a service at this nail salon, and I would never recommend this spot to anyone. After walking in at 10:30 on a weekday, and not enough staff to cover the handful of people inside, I was told to sit and wait 20 minutes for a no-chip manicure. As I waited, I very politely asked to see the no-chip colors available, as was told to sit down and the manager would show me later. He then told me that I cannot walk in unless I have an appointment (despite the sign on the door stating walk-ins are welcome) and make demands. After sitting down, he forcefully grabbed my hand to begin filing, and proceeded to lecture me about asking to see colors or wanting service without an appointment. Within minutes, I stood up and left the building immediately. There are far too many nail salons in the West Loop area to be forced to receive such poor service and attitude from a salon. If possible, I would give this salon a negative star rating and am writing this review to warn others of the problems with this salon. read more

im tired of writing negative reviews .. damn.. well kim did my gel tips & it was not a mind blowing experience. The space is very nice & clean. The decor was nice & warm & i was also offered tea which was cool. great hospitality, but the service itself was nothing to be desired. I got french gel tips. the price was great ($30). I came in, was asked to take a seat & I elected to wash my hands first. I thought some attention would have been given to my cuticles but that was a no go. she proceeded to add the tips & when she put the gel on I noticed the tip of the nail began to widen which is a very UNATTRACTIVE LOOK & does not look natural. I told her it looked too wide & she filed it down the sides of the nail just a smidge.I dont think she really understood what I was trying to explain to her. I dont have wide ass fred flintstone nails so I wasnt pleased. basically I went ahead & paid because I was disgusted. she didnt apply any lotion or anything to my hand. she left me with wide ass tips that actually looked like toenails on my hands .the shit in a nut shell was very UNDERWHELMING. I understand its partially my fault, because she kept asking me if i like it & I was like yeah, but only after I got tired of reiterating what I wanted her to do. Haven't been yelping much lately, but wanted to write one for this great spot! Really enjoyed this new place in the neighborhood, and hope other people end up going despite the non-foot-trafficy area, as it would be a hame to have it close. I very rarely get my nails done and have maybe gotten a pedicure twice in my life, as nail technicans usually make fun of my perpetually short nails. Who wants to go get their nails done and feel embarrassed? Kudos to this place for being the first where I didn't feel self conscious at all. Lee (sp) did a mani/pedi and was incredibly sweet and also was very precise; probably the longest appointment I've had, which I really enjoyed. I am always disappointed when I get a mani where I'm in and out in 20 minutes, as I view it more as pampering than a "necessary upkeep" and really enjoyed the longer appointment here. Both Lee and Tina were so personable and sweet, as was George the owner. Another regular client was in there and it was nice to see how well they all knew each other. Love this place! read more

I have been going to this nail place for six months and I LOVE it! Tina does my acrylic french tip gel sets and is timely with appointments. The pedicures are great as well, they have a wide variety of colors and chairs to choose from. I have never seen it super packed, or had to wait for a service. I typically call ahead to make sure that Tina is working that day so she can do my nails. She is the only person in the salon who does the acrylic french tip gel sets. I recommend this salon to anyone who lives in the west loop/river west area, its the best one around! Don't waste your money going anywhere else! read more

I arrived just as they opened on Sunday morning (10am) and requested a pedicure. I was 1 of 2 customers. They promptly sat me at a pedicure station and I thought to myself "this is great! i will be in and out of here in no time!" I sat with my feet soaking for 5 minutes while 8 employees scurried about. A male employee came over and told me he would be doing the pedicure - "sounds great!" i said. i was quickly annoyed. He answered the phone a total of 5 times during the pedicure. And he didn't just answer it - he took the call, walked away, and never apologized. 5 times! There were other employees who were just sitting around so I was not amused by the fact that he kept leaving me unattended when one of the other employees could have done my pedicure. He also proceeded to dig, i mean GAUGE, the nail and cuticle on my big toe. I grabbed my foot and pulled it towards myself and told him to stop. He looked at me w/ a snarky face and proceeded to scold me on how i apparently don't take care of my toes and that my nails are ingrown and that i need surgery. Wait, what? I've NEVER had anyone tell me that before and I've had MORE than my fair share of pedicures at upscale salons (not this type of salon). I told him to not cut any cuticle and to just buff and paint. Could it possible be that my big toe is red and inflamed now because you were just digging in it! Man, he looked annoyed. Consequently, the leg/foot massage was horrible. At that point I wanted to go home. I let him polish my toes and after 2 coats I could still see the nail (huge pet peeve of mine) so I asked politely if he could please do a 3rd coat. He was NOT amused. Proceeded to school me on polish and chipping. I totally understand that...I just wanted a 3rd coat! It will take 2 more minutes! He huffed and did it. The pedicure was $28 and the experience was horrible. I will never go back to this salon and I would recommend if you go to stay away from any male employee. read more
