Ridiculously long wait. Staff friendly but can't understand why taking sooooo long to do a blood draw and move people along.

Leaving this to balance out some of the harsher reviews, because a lot of what people are reacting…read moreto may have more to do with sleep labs in general than with this place specifically. **Getting there and settling in:** Easy to find, and parking in the back felt safe. The front door is clearly marked, and you could see people inside working and making beds, which was reassuring. You do have to ring a doorbell and wait for someone to answer, which makes sense for both staff and patient safety. I arrived early, and because of that I got to choose between a warmer or a colder room, though I'd guess that's not guaranteed if the place is busy. The bed itself was comfortable, not high-end, but the bedding was nice with the option of a lighter blanket, and the pillows were fluffy. I asked for extra pillows, which they provided. **The tech:** My respiratory therapist, Margarita, was kind, informative, and put me at ease the whole time. **About the rough night, if you're reading other reviews and worried:** If you already know you have apnea or another sleep issue, you're going into an unfamiliar place, wired up, knowing someone can walk in on you. That combination reliably makes it take longer to fall asleep, longer to find a comfortable position, and produces lighter sleep than normal. That's not a reflection on the facility, it's just what happens on the first night anywhere like this. I also want to explain something for anyone whose review mentions hearing doors slam or loud bangs in the night: that's very likely "exploding head syndrome," a real, harmless, well-documented phenomenon where your brain generates the perception of a loud noise during the transition between sleep and wakefulness. I honestly don't think it's the building or the staff. If that happened to you, you weren't imagining it and nothing was wrong with the room, it's just a known quirk of how sleep works, especially in an unfamiliar place. **A few practical tips if you're headed here (or any sleep lab):** If you already use a CPAP, bring your own mask. If it fits their tubing, they'll probably let you use it. I'm a very light sleeper and I use an eye mask and Loop earplugs every night at home. They let me wear both, and the tech helped me get the eye mask on over all the wires. If you're a light sleeper, bring them. They use a gel-like adhesive to attach electrodes to your face and scalp. There was tissue in the room - use it to wipe it off your face as electrodes come off. If you're bald, the same applies to your scalp; if you have hair, plan to shampoo twice with warm water once you're home. I have sensitive skin, and the adhesive pulled some skin off my neck when it was removed. If I do this again, I will not exfoliate the night before, and I'll put on a fast-absorbing face lotion about an hour before arriving to give my skin a little more protection. Skip anything greasy since it can interfere with the electrodes sticking, though in practice that seemed like less of an issue than I expected going in. Overall, a good experience for what's an inherently strange thing to do to your body and your sleep for a night.

It takes a long while to get an appointment, so deal with it. There is only one specialist who reads the results. He does not have an office and you cannot make an appointment with him. You must go through your primary care doctor and have another study ordered if it seems that the CPAP settings may need adjustment. REM Diagnostics has no control over that.
