I have driven past it many times and curious to what it is about. It's a simple park , quiet and tranquil Despite the location. I came with my son, my friend and her daughter. There are so no playgrounds/stations for kids but they still loved it. It was beautiful. At one point on the walking trail there was a large bush that was drawing in a handful of butterflies. So lovely. My son is 8 and he has asked to go back multiple times.

In the 1980's when the Oriole Homes Corporation was developing the Country Place residential community on the north side of Holmberg Road in Parkland they offered to buy something to decorate the park and make it memorable for the residents of the new community. Parkland Commissioners Maryjane Sexton and Bobbi Pugliese wanted something that embodied the country setting so they picked a covered bridge. The bridge was suppose to cross over water but they didn't have any it could span so instead it connects land that runs between two canals. The park was deeded to Parkland on October 18, 1989. There isn't a parking lot for this park since it was designed for use by the people who lived in the community. I parked in the strip mall across the street from Holmberg Rd. and took the short walk up. The park is accessible from Holmberg Road or Hillsboro Boulevard through a tree lined trail on the west side of Winners Circle. The trail runs between the canal and apartments and it connects Covered Bridge Park to 6-acre Park off of Hillsboro Boulevard. I love a covered bridge and this park is so tranquil. In addition to the lovely bridge perfect for photos and as a backdrop for picnics, the hiking trail that runs between the two parks is wonderful for getting exercise. On my stroll I saw turtles, butterflies, and birds. This is just another reason why the name of Parkland is perfect for this picturesque city.

Greenways are green spaces that have been closed to motorized vehicles in order to provide people a…read moresafe place to travel and exercise. With no cars, they are typically a great place to enjoy nature and spot wildlife. The Cypress Creek Greenway is 16.5 miles from the everglades to the ocean. The trail was mainly constructed between 2009 and 2012 and it is the longest stretch of paved recreational path in Broward County. The segment closest to where I live runs from Fern Forest Nature Center to 441. The entirety of the trail runs between Lyons Rd. and Sanibel Dr., just east of Sawgrass Expressway. The trail is asphalt and concrete making it ideal for walking, running, and biking. For three miles of the trail it parallels Southgate Boulevard on one side and the C-14 Canal on the other. While walking the greenway today I spotted wading birds and an Osprey diving for fish. The trail used to end at Fern forest but another segment was recently added that takes it to the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately the new segment of the trail is not directly linked to the old section. Instead you have to travel along the bike lane on Lyons Road 1.6 miles to McNab road before reconnecting to the Cypress Creek Greenway. Bike travel on Lyons road can be potentially dangerous. On the western end of the trail parking is available in Tamarac at Tephford Park Playground and the Gary B. Jones Park for People and Pups. On the east end of the trail parking is available at the end of Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach. There is also parking at Fern Forest nature Center. One thing to note is that the greenway does not have any shade so it is best in the cooler months. There are a few benches along the way and it passes the Margate Boat Ramp. I had an enjoyable time looking for birds and walking off some of the turkey day dinner today. With the dip in temperature, this is a a fun trail to come out and explore.

Silver Palm Park is a 3.7 acre park at the base of the Palmetto Park Bridge. It has car and trailer…read moreparking and two boat launches but you have to buy a permit from the city. There are also picnic tables and a restroom. The park is mainly used by people who want to fish and boaters. The city of Boca Raton has approved a project to create a park on the other side of the bridge and connect it to Silver Palm Park. The project is called Wildflower/ Silver Palm Park. The city plans on adding a wide walkway, boat launch and washing station, fish cleaning area, picnic area, a children's play area, an open area for events, and more restrooms. $483,700 has been approved for the design of the park, and the budget to build the park is 8 million dollars. The name Wildflower comes from the name of a night club in the 1980's that used to sit on the 2.3 acres the city purchased for the project in 2009 for 7.5 million dollars. The club has since been demolished and the land has sat vacant for 10 years. The land was originally slated to be a restaurant but the city wants to keep the space open since people are objecting to how the area is becoming built up by developers. The height limit on buildings was raised to 14 stories in 2008 which allowed for more towers to be built in Boca Raton. The city wants to create a place that will revitalize the downtown water front area. This past December the city marketed Wildflower as a place park and see the holiday boat parade. A date for the completion of the project has not been announced.

They come here to launch their boats and park their cars and trailers. That's it. The benches facing the intracoastal are dirty. There's usually shifty guys sitting around smoking and drinking. Hopefully the City will clean this place up and staff it once it is connected with the Wildflower property across Palmetto Park Road.

It's usually pretty dirty, and there's always some sketchy people at this ramp. Not steep, but backs up super quick into some trees. Docks also been messed up for a while. But hey, if you want to get deep into the Wilton manors backwaters quick, this is the closest ramp. Wouldn't launch anything more than a skiff or some kayaks

Located between State Rd 7 and I-95, West Ken-Lark was a census-designated place in central Broward…read moreCounty. In 2005 the neighborhoods of St. George and West Ken Lark agreed to be annexed by Lauderhill. The neighborhood is under the West Ken Lark Home Owners Association. West Ken Lark Park is across the street from Larkdale Elementary School and serves as an anchor for the working class community. Park amenities include covered basketball courts, benches, bleachers, gym, fitness stations, football field, meeting room, pavilion, covered playground, restroom, water fountain, and walking/jogging path. Like all of the parks in Lauderhill it is completely fenced. The park recently received $350,000 of upgrades including an enlarged community center with a new roof, improvements to the parking lot and walk away, and new bathrooms. This park is a true community park. The city uses it to stage a lot of outreach programs. These include a football league, feeding children during the summer, fitness classes, Move with the Mayor, and school backpack giveaways just to name a view. Look on the city website for more details. I love how this park helps the community to connect to each other and useful services that make it an even better place to live.

I didn't even know this place existed... we were actually coming here to check out the art museum…read morein the center and my girlfriend pointed it out to me. It's a small respite in the shade of trees, next to a pond with a stone bench (photo opportunity?) to sit on and reflect. In the trees are stars with sayings and names; colored stones in honor of those killed at MSD High School in nearby Parkland, some other sculptures and an Indian/totem motif entry gate that reminded me of those in a Japanese shrine or garden. You can quickly walk through it or stop and observe each piece and enjoy the tranquility of being in the shade of the trees.. next to water filled with vegetation. It doesn't warrant a separate visit, but if you are coming here for a show or the museum or another event, take the few minutes to walk through it.

This is a very nice garden located outside of the Coral Springs Museum of Art and Theater. It has…read morewell maintained plants, paved paths, several sculptures, benches, a beautiful archway, a mosiac wall, and a water feature from a canal that ends here. On the day I visited I had fun spotting the painted rocks other visitors had made and left behind on some of the artwork. Although the garden is very small it is nicely done. While I don't think it necessitates a visit on it's own it's pleasant to stroll through if you are going to the theater or visiting the art museum. It's definitely a nice place to take pictures if you are all dressed up for the theater. The garden is a wonderful addition to the Coral Springs art complex.

I was passing through this neighborhood on the south side of Margate after a tag sale and when I…read moresaw how nice and new looking this park was so I had to stop and check it out. This park was recently renovated over 8 months when the city received a $200.000 grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection through their Land, Water, and Conservation fund program. Southgate Park first opened in Margate in 1978 and was high on the city's master plan for a refurbishment. Total renovations for the project cost $600,00 with the balance being paid by the City of Margate with money set aside from their 2020 budget. In April of 2021, the city held a reopening ceremony at the park. Renovations to the park included a basketball court with two hoops, an exercise trail with 6 fitness stations, and a covered playground with ADA accessible astro turf, two different age play structures, and an ADA accessible swing. I love how the park planners thought about children of all needs and abilities when designing the playground. I had a great morning walk around the exercise path trying out the six exercise stations that work every part of your body. I especially liked the one where you can twist your waist which tightens up your obliques which are very important for making your core strong. This is a really great neighborhood park and the southside Margate residents have a beautiful new place to work out and play.
