The doctor took their time. Not in a hurry at all. Very thorough. Ran all the tests needed and Evan sent me out to Salem Radiology.

I had an excellent first visit experience. Dr. Tomes has excellent skills, listening and verbal. My appointment was new patient interview. The intake paperwork is extensive and I thought that was positive. Bloodwork is convenient in their on-site lab. I look forward to having this clinic as my medical home base. read more

Picking up Covid tests. This clinic has seen a lot of change since I first became a patient in 2019. Construction continued through the pandemic expanding service for many by way of a new dental facilities and a mental health wing. Their lobby has been modernized with improved safety for employees with a glass wall between patients at reception, a multiple charging outlets for convenience while waiting. Though I must admit missing the painted nature mural. Service has always been considerate and timely once you get an appointment, though the availability is sometimes limited. Video appointments are available if requested. There's a Labcorp facility onsite in the event you need blood drawn or further tests. Ample street parking is available. read more

My experiance here has been good. I did read the negative reviews and my experiance was positive. This is a busy clinic, however my two appointments so far were right on time. My provider is very sharp. His approach to treating me is methodical and he explained everything. At 59 years of age I have a few medical issues and feel confident we will explore options for each. My doctor is easy to understand and communicates clearly. My takeaway is find a provider you are comfortable with. If you dont like the provider ask for another or shop around. read more

I spent a couple of minutes just now wondering if I should give this clinic one or two stars, as I've experienced very little to recommend it during my time here. Let's start with the constant shuffling I received between doctors, with at least one leaving for greener pastures. I finally wound up with Dr. Tomes, but within a few months of being under her care, she cancelled my insulin shots. Without notifying me first. Her explanation, when I finally got ahold of her, was that she thought I'd do better on Metformin. Except before that conversation, she didn't write me a prescription for it. Things only went down hill from there. Getting anyone on the phone is a twenty-five minute process, with unhelpful and untrained receptionists who contradict one another. Case in point: I made the mistake (putting the cart before the horse, as I needed to first find another provider) of trying to leave the clinic after suffering a heart attack, as my doctor had put me on no medications for clogged arteries and had been MIA for a year + before the incident (don't expect them to reach out to you, rather make appointments yourself, as I should have done). No statins, no anything. Well, I wound up with several meds from the hospital that they refuse to refill, and I have yet to get a straight answer as to their reasonong. The phone receptionist told me I had to come in before I could leave their "care". I soon learned there are no open clinics in Salem, and tried again to refill my prescriptions through their pharmacy. The next person I spoke to on the phone told me they couldn't help me with more than two of them, before finally telling me that her notes showed I'd already quit the clinic. That was news to me, and to Pacific Source, who've confirmed they are still getting billed by West Salem Clinic. This is what led me to writing my first ever Yelp review. I truly hope if you've already signed up with these people that your experiences are better than mine have been. If you're still shopping around, I commiserate with your arduous search, but I wouldn't recommend this place, especially Dr. Tomes. read more

This rating should be zero. For the second time my anticonvulsant medication (that I can't sleep without!) was not approved for a refill for 6 business days! They say it takes 3 days at most and to contact the pharmacy....such BS! Then they wouldn't give me a next day appointment for urgent care with my PCP (Shannon Carey PA). On the website it says you can get same day appointments with your provider....nope. They are incompetent at this clinic and they never apologize or improve. Shannon Carey is also the Associate Director of the clinic! No wonder it's run so badly. I will be finding a new 'doctor' and clinic. DON'T GO HERE!! read more

My new health insurance plan referred me to the West Salem Clinic because of geographic propinquity. I finished the paperwork part, and then, three different appointments to do the necessary in-person, initial intake process as a new patient. Three times the person I have the appointment with CANNOT be located or summoned when I get there. Everyone is mystified, says this sort of thing never happens (even though it happened three times in a row), and then shoulder shrugs all around. "You'll have to make another appointment". No zero stars so one. These people seem nice but medically incompetent. At an annual exam I was told no need for a 30+ years cholerstal problem blood test but a hep C blood test!! The monthly special? Tests about to expire? The final straw was being prescribed a skin rash med for insomnia! After taking 2 pills, still awake after 3.5 hours. I needed to wait 2 weeks of no sleep to get an appointment for better meds and the PA was out so more wait time. Instead, I drove home, got an appointment 3 hours later at Salem Clinic and got what I needed. DO NOT RISK YOUR HEALTH AND LIFE! GET BETTER CARE, ANYWHERE! read more

I called to try to get an appointment oh my doctor because I have been extremely sick for about a week and a half with no signs of improvement. When I called the lady on the phone did not seem to care what so ever, I explained that 2 kids at my sons daycare tested positive for RSV and bronchitis and my son got sick and then I got really really sick to the point where it was extremely difficult to breathe and chest pain due to a bad cough along with other symptoms but no fever. I let her know I have no childcare for my son and asked if a virtual appointment with my doctor was available and her response was "well you have to come in." Once again I told her I have nobody to care for my son due to childcare being closed because of the RSV positive results snd I really don't have the energy to chase him around and try to keep in calm in a doctors office. (My kid can be calm at home but when he's in a new place he wants to explore everything and get into everything) and She told me "well I'll pass your message to someone else and they will call you back." Here it is and still NOBODY has bothered to call me. It's really unfortunate when you and your health aren't a priority. The lack of communication, professionalism , and the way situations like this are handled shows not everyone should be in healthcare. read more

Incompetent staff seems like they have an agenda to ignore you, instead of being remotely helpful. They also 'lost my forms' so I had to fuckin fill them out again. Force you to go in during COVID which makes no sense for a medical facility. Why are we paying these people? 10 receptionists being paid to talk about being hungover and ignore patients. This is the only local place that currently accepts my insurance and you could make a tv show about how shite it is. My GF gets UTIs, and it's peak flu season and covid is going on, and they still insist on bringing her in so they can make some money on a pointless UTI test. I prefer a DO to an MD and Dr. Skreen is the best. I really feel listened to. Sometimes I even get same day appointments. The only thing, and its an inconvenience not a complaint, is that I have to regularly schedule an appointment 3 months apart and their scheduling doesn't go out quite far enough for me to schedule when leaving for the next one. read more

Front desk staff was nice with helping me check in. Dr. Ryan Gunter was awesome. He seems like he really cares. He was the third doctor I saw (other two were specialists), and he was the only one able to diagnose me. I went to him on OHP, and now that I have insurance through my work, I'll continue to see him in the future. One of the patient aides couldn't care less though. I confirmed she had the correct medication and pharmacy location. She said yes, and claimed it was sent. I went to the pharmacy three days straight, they didn't get any paperwork. I called the doctor's office, and they transferred me to Debbie, who specializes in getting medications to patients and answering niche questions about them, was able to get it called in to be picked up the same day I called. Rating is more toward 4.9, but I really can't take off a star knowing everyone else went above and beyond :) read more

When I first started coming here two years ago I hated my doctor. He was spacey and didn't care or listen to any of my concerns. On top of that he never knew who I was and never looked at my chart before talking to me. I finally decided to switch doctors and I haven't regretted it for a single moment. Dr. Tyler Little is one of the best doctors I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He's honest, observant, and has a great bedside manner. Despite whatever is going on he always makes me laugh and always remembers who I am. Not only that but he knows what he's talking about unlike my last doctor who seemed like he was just stoned all the time. The west Salem clinic has many positives about it including friendly staff, clean facility, and a good flow but its greatest asset is Dr. Little. If you come here and don't like how your doctor treats you like I didn't, switch to Dr. Little read more

The medical and dental services at Northwest Human Services / West Salem Clinic @ 1235 Edgewater St NW Salem, Oregon 97304 are top notch and affordable. The staff is always professional and super helpful. I volunteered as a medical advocate for Seniors in California for over 15 years before moving to Salem in 2005 - so I have witnessed the standard of care in numerous medical clinics and have a good perspective on the range of outcomes that are delivered in large high volume medical / dental facilities. Northwest Human Services is simply outstanding and consistently provides top notch health care resources for the residents Salem and the Willamette Valley. I have a friend who has accessed resources here too and she is equally complimentary about her experiences.
