Currently, this clinic only open at 6:00 PM for new intakes. This is because they do all of the surgeries during the day, when the regular vets are open. These folks are GREAT! Took our dog in and they got him in as soon as they could. Created an invoice with the expected charges that we had to pay up front. They did his exam, a couple of x-rays, kept him for two nights (with more x-rays), provided fluids while he was there. They sent him home with a prescription and all the documentation I needed, all for the same GREAT price. Staff is friendly and competent, even while being EXTREMELY busy. read more

We just took our puppy there as her eye popped out the socket. They did take her back immediately. We thought they were going to get in her and try to save her eye the best they could. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately the actual vet never came out to talk to us only the receptionist and a vet tech.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Obviously we had to leave her there overnight. When we went back to pick her up the next night we still had to wait an hour for the time they told us to be there. They gave us the instructions and discharge papers. We brought our puppy back the very next morning. We learned that they didn't start the surgery immediately and left her sedated with her eye out for another 7 hours. Less than 12 hours later. As there was discharge from the surgery and we wanted to confirm if it was normal or abnormal. It was abnormal according to the vet tech and they said they could get her back in at 1pm to make sure it wasn't ruptured. We picked her up between 7-8pm that same evening because her surgery kept getting pushed and she sat with minimal care. We took her to another emergency vet because they wouldn't give us an answer on when they would perform the surgery to fix or remove her eye. Where we took her we actually talked to the vet and had a good plan. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the receptionists we did deal with were nice and respectful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I think this place is severely under staff for the volume of animals they see and the actual vets need to have a little better bedside manner and actually come and talk to owner of the pets. Ending result - our puppy lost its eye. And after discussions with the vet that performed that eye removal and our own regular vet. They should have removed the eye immediately. There was damage to the optic nerve and muscles which lead to the eye being turned outward with no function. And after the first surgery that West Texas Emergency Vet performed the eye started to become abscess and that was the reason for the abnormal discharge. Leaves. 30mins goes by just for the nurse to come back and tell us she's gonna get the X-ray room set up.. an HOUR later she grabs our dog but says she had to put gown and gloves on before grabbing him because she's been dealing with a dog that has parvo all day... mind you she already touched my dog. Another HOUR goes by the X-rays come back and my dog knee is broken and the doctor said he can email me the X-rays or put it on a disc for me and I said that'll be great.. then he says like yeah so if we do the surgery here it'll be roughly 3-4k to do a pinning. I immediately said we're not doing it here.. he obviously didn't like that and sent me and my dog home with meds and no X-rays. They waited two days to perform emergency surgery on the dog I took in and now claims the dog died during surgery. They said the surgery would be done the first night and it wasn't. So the dog sat in pain for two days waiting to die. I could have taken the dog home and gotten it in somewhere else in that time. The dog wasn't even that bad, so they probably gave him too must tranquilizer or didn't do the surgery at all, and now we owe their exhorbant fees (almost $1000) on a dog that was not helped in time. read more

I came in last night because my Samoyed had an impacted left anal gland. While the wait was a bit long (~2 hrs), it was mostly due to there being a lot of other patients before us. However once we were seen, everyone was super professional and quick. The vet tech was very compassionate and explained everything to me and how I should use the chlorhexadine solution at home and all the other meds that were being sent home with us. They were also very careful when shaving him to get access to the gland. He's a conformation show dog so I was worried about how much fur would be removed but it's barely noticeable. LONG READ BUT IMPORTANT!! PLEASE MAKE IT TO THE END IF YOU LOVE YOUR BABIES!! My dog was throwing up bile, took him in thinking he had an obstruction from eating grass. did the scans and blood work and said that he had an infection and an mass, they kept him overnight and get another doctor's opinion because the first vet literally said to our faces "I have no idea what this is". That second doctor said they needed to do surgery which would mainly be a neuter and that would fix the issue but that it seemed to be infection and there wasn't anything else they could see to cause this issue. we arent the vet, so we we took them at face value and agreed, so over a thousand dollars later, I call that night before his surgery to check his status and was told he was OK. Next day I call again for an update, a different vet says surgery went well, a routine neuter and that all of a sudden there wasnt any infection and that now it was a torsion. So getting 3 different stories from 3 different vets. I was told my sweet bo was doing well, awake, and we could pick him up in the afternoon. a few hours go by and we pull up to the vet. Pulled in the parking lot about to walk in I get a call from them, I answer excited to see me baby and let them know we were in the parking lot coming in to get him.. thats when this 3rd vet says "he had some trouble breathing an hour ago, threw up, and died".. I literally collapse and dropped my phone losing my mind. My fiance picks up my phone up and listens to the vet who gives no explanation.. they say we can come in and see his body..we go in with me just losing it in front of everybody and left waiting for about 20 minutes crying my eyes out just to view my now dead (on their watch from a routine neuter) baby. At the counter they couldnt find us in their system for 10 minutes and just wrote our name on a sticky note, which already didnt feel right to me, then they had asked what we wanted to do with his body as if I wasn't still processing the loss of my closest friend from 5 minutes before walking In, got charged for everything they did that led to his death and getting charged to get his sweet little soul put to rest properly.. we finally go back to see him, crying and petting my boy for the final time while the nurses just left us alone with his body that was tightly wrapped up in towels so we couldn't even see if they did the surgery or not and the nurses were not telling us what happened..none of the 3 vets who oversaw his care came to explain how the hell he died on their watch from a routine neuter! So now we've been charged for a surgery they said he needed to survive, not notified when he had complications so we couldve been there with him or had the chance to make any decisions to ease his pain and suffering, held in front of everyone while falling apart and waiting to say our goodbyes, we still have 3 very different stories with no actual explanation, and then got charged to do a private cremation otherwise "you can take his body with you and just bury him at home or you can just have a public cremation where he goes in with a bunch of others and you get nothing back" side note, how on earth do they somehow kill my dog and then tell me while im breaking down that they can charge me or i can just have my dead babys body to walk out with?! I have not stopped crying, still charged for them killing my dog and now to cremate him, still have to explain to my child how her friend is never coming back, and honestly have no idea how to process any of this. my boy had just turned 4 a few days prior, he was young, loveable, full of life, and my baby. We did everything together.. and I still have no answers while theyre raking in money from his death. Also if you're expectin quality care during observation, treatment, or recovery you arent gettin what you pay for.. in the back all the animals are in smalls crates sittin directly on the floor (out of sight unless you bend down to actually look inside) and stacked on top of eachother like an animal warehouse. My best guess, purely speculation based seeing that, is that he wasnt accurately monitored because they couldnt see him (which why they never called beforehand to say anything) and he most likely died alone, in pain after being cut apart, shoved in that small kennel on the floor where no one could see him. we went here because we needed help.. we were let down every single step of the way and he's gone now. read more

Brought my pup in because she had a rattlesnake bite and she was seen immediately. The front desk receptionist at night isn't great but the day time receptionist is much better! I didn't receive any call backs but that's ok because they are swamped! These veterinarians are hardworking and overworked so I didn't really expect a call back either. But that's ok because they gave my dog top notch care and it was reasonably priced! I'm almost certain that they are the only 24hour clinic between here and Midland right now due to Covid so I appreciate that they are even open! I called 4 times to check on her the next day or see what's going on. Each time they put me on hold and NEVER picked back up. Four different times!! By no means was the time or patience we waited here (two and a half hours) beneficial to anyone other than the pockets of the vets in charge of this comradery. I brought my dog here for a limp. They cut his nails and x rated him and saw no problem. They brought him back to me bleeding and limping on another let due to them cutting to short. I asked for the doctor back to explain what was wrong and instead they sent a nurse to hand me my bill after they had already sent me the bill with me asking what's wrong. The vet does not care about animals and she was not helpful to me. The nurse I first met was very helpful and loved on him the whole time and same with the second but the vets they hire don't care about animals please do not go here. My dog has been suffering since with no explanation why. Only pain meds and nothing more than an x ray. Anyone who disputes this I will show his leg and what your vet did for him and what my vet in the future concludes is the problem. You need to fire your vet. We brought in our dog who earlier today got neutered. When we got home from his surgery he just started throwing up I mean pools of liquid throw up. At first it was yellow and then turned clear but by the time we got in the car to get him to somewhere it was white and sticky. We pulled in at like 9:20 and the rooms were full there were 5 people waiting and a poor dog was dying of parvo and they just listened to the dog whimpering. And when they took the dog back and out it down nobody came to clean up the area the dog was in. Parvo is highly contagious and I am appalled that nobody even sprayed Lysol on it. As I'm writing this review our dog is throwing up and they haven't don't anything. We have been waiting for almost three ours. When you ask the front desk person how long it will be she gives clipped and obvious answers. Like I don't need to know how many people are sitting in the same waiting room as me. I took my baby to Angel vet clinic after my baby had been sick for a day. She was misdiagnosed because the vet didn't even run blood work on her. 4 days later, she was dying! I took her in here and within 13 hours, my baby was almost back to normal! Dr. Wills tested her for a very rare bacteria(lepto) and my baby tested positive for it! She started treatment right away and my baby is alive thanks to her clinical judgement and the awesome techs. Thank you so much to Dr. Wills for saving my child. I was in tears and without sleep until the vet finally found what was wrong with my baby. My baby is alive because of Dr. wills who was ALWAYS with her sick animals every time I would go check in on my dog. Does the woman sleep? Anyhow, amazing vet. Over the last 18 years, I've visited numerous veterinary clinics - from Mississippi to West Texas - and they were all decent, but the care provided to my pet by the staff at West Texas Emergency Veterinary Clinic cannot be rivaled. To begin with, the facility is exceptionally clean. To illustrate just how immaculate this facility is, I'll need to give you some background details first. I brought my dog, Spaz, in because he was viciously attacked by a neighbor's animal. Spaz had a massive chunk of flesh from his chest missing, and a few other gashes that were bleeding quite steadily. To be clear, my boy wasn't bleeding as if a major artery was severed; it was more like a very slow and steady nose-bleed. As Spaz paced back and forth, he'd drop blood. The more he moved, the more it'd drip. Spaz wasn't alone, either. There were at least 3 other dogs in the waiting area with similar problems. Every 10 minutes or so, a friendly staff member would walk by, sanitizing and cleaning the excreted body fluids. Another positive attribute of this facility is the fact that the waiting area is accommodating, large, and complimentary. When we arrived, we signed in, and sat at the first bench we encountered. As we sat there, we saw a few emergency animal cases, and more and more people bringing their loved ones in for emergency care. To say the least, this place certainly has the room to accommodate lots of bleeding dogs! In addition to the large, accommodating waiting area, the staff is very complimentary. They have bottled water and a variety of coffees, via Keurig, on hand. Not only do they offer free drinks, they offered my daughter coloring books to keep her occupied during this disturbing time (at least until my mother could come and watch her for me for a while). All emergency care, whether it's a human at the ER or a canine at an emergency vet clinic, is going to cost a bit more. With that said, there are always special circumstances where doctors and staff at such medical facilities do things to truly help out their patients and their communities. As I picked up my dog and paid my final bill, this place had me leaving in tears. Not the type of tears one has because of great loss (or the kind caused by pain and suffering); I had the best kind: tears of joy. I do not need to go into great details about the procedures my dog endured to illustrate the wonderful care he received. All that's necessary is this: he is an old dog who could have died from a severe infection he received from a vicious animal. He survived because of the care he received at the West Texas Emergency Veterinary Clinic, and I want the world to know how thankful I am for their contributions to our community. read more

It's after normal vet hours when we notice our baby boy starting to show signs of allergies and lethargy. My husband called about our Simba (a lionhead bunny) acting strange and the lady on the phone said sorry only cats and dogs. Okay cool. We literally tried every vet on the phone in the midland Odessa area with no luck. It is now midnight and my rabbit I can tell will not make it through the night. So I call back and ask if she will please make an exception. (Even just for body disposal or euthanasia would have been more polite than the way she treated us) she reiterated the doctor only knows cat and dog anatomy and there is no way she would help us. So I begged her for a reference. She gave me a phone number. That number suggested another number. So I dialed it. WOULDNT YOU GUESS IT LED ME RIGHT BACK THE THE SAME LADY! And by this point I am crying because my pet is about to die (spoiler alert he died an hour later) and this B*tch recognized my voice. I had no idea I had reached the same lady but she goes "yeah CATS AND DOGS!!" I tried to explain I didn't mean to call her again.. And she HUNG UP ON ME! I brought my newly adopted puppy in on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago. Yes, we waited a couple of hours to find out our pup had parvo, but keep in mind it was a Sunday and they are short-handed. They started treatment on him right away after diagnosis. He stayed there until Fri., at which time they dismissed him. I went over every day to visit him while he was there, and they were very friendly to me and accommodating. If I had questions, the techs took the time to visit or answer my questions. Took my dog last Wednesday after two days of signs of Parvo. The doctor told me to treat her in house would be $1,300. She never told me about any kind of payment plan. We decided to treat her as an outpatient. They gave her sub-q fluids which is the slowest way to get fluids in a dog. They prescribed Panacur which is basically just pepto. They also prescribed her metronidazole which is used to treat worms, when she didn't even have it. She passed away on Friday morning after two days of treatment and giving more fluids than was even prescribed to keep her hydrated. When I called today to see about getting the medication refunded, since many other DVMs told us they should have used a completely different treatment plan, the receptionist was completely rude to us. And actually said the words "My dogs don't have parvo because they've been completely vaccinated." Very disappointed in the quality of care we got, as well as the customer service. You would benefit to take any animals to Eighth Street Animal Hospital. read more

My puppy (she is a 1 1/2) was hit by a truck on 5/13. Took her right to them. They only did x-rays of her hip. They did hip surgery.Picked her up a coupe days later brought her home. I took her to another vet. She had a hernia reason she couldn't breath. She wasn't able to sleep so she suffered with them. lost alot of weight. I ended up taking her to Albuquerque to see of we could save her life. But unfortunately she lost her battle last night. Something that could have been prevented If they wouldhave done there job. This place is terrible, how they get good reviews is beyond me, must be friends and family lieing for them on here. The receptionist have a terrible attitude in person and on the phone. Their care service is terrible, never give adequate information on your pets when asked. They role their eyes, ignore you, talk over you, turn their back, and walk away from you. I took my cat to them and they had him for two days when I got him back he was covered in urine, which doesn't make sense because they supposedly had a catheter in him, he smelled so badly so that indicates he was there sitting in his own urine for hour or possibly the entire time he was there, he was covered in blood, from who knows what they did yo him. I don't know because they didn't want to tell me. They charge a ridiculous amount for some BS care that they provide. I never even got to talk to the doctor who knows where the hell he was. So Dr. Ann Wills if you read this thanks for nothing, enjoy my money. Vet tech Alyssa Morales learn some fucken people skills cause your attitude is shit. Also if this isn't your line of work find something else to do cause obviously a care person isn't one of them.
