Ordered stuff for mother's day. Food tastes like it was made by someone that was disappointed with some life choices and wanted that disappointment reflected through their food. We ordered scallops and mixed seafood: easy enough. Scallops tasted like they were first boiled, then seared in old butter and grease. How do you fumble scallops? You learn that day 2 page 1 at cooking class. Shrimp looked and tasted like tragedy struck; somehow still unseasoned. Had hot wings that looked thirsty as hell, dry as driftwood with soaked wet skin; like it was under a heat lamp for the weekend. I bought this food to surprise my mom for mother's day. A restaurant she recommended to me, the look of disappointment on her face after she found out how much money I wasted on sub-mid food didn't help things either. We both ain't ordering from here again. Take some cooking classes, just cuz yall a diner doesn't mean you start lacking like this. read more

I hate to give such a low star rating,, but I think most people are interested in good food when they go to a restaurant and the stars in this case are for the food and for the management. Ordered Eggplant Parmesan which came with a choice of side salad and I ordered a Greek salad. The Greek salad had more feta cheese than lettuce which might sound great, but what little lettuce there was wasn't green and crisp... It was white and somewhat brown and minced up small. The salad was also drowning in dressing. Fortunately it came with one rolled grape leaf , which was good and for those that like anchovies, there was a pile on the side but I wish I had been asked if I like them because I immediately took them off to be thrown away. When the entrée, Eggplant Parmesan, came, it was just a mushy mess. The eggplant was lightly breaded and must've been in the fryer just long enough to get it hot, but it wasn't crispy and easy to cut - an oily mess. Would be much better and healthier if it were baked after it was breaded. Can't remember the last time I had Eggplant Parm that was so messy. On top of that, the price for the entrée was $15.99 and a glass of iced tea which cost the restaurant pennies was over $3 so my bill came in at over $20.00. Over $20 for that meal is a lot considering they have a 2 dinners for $25 menu which, unfortunately, only has one vegetarian item and that is, again, Eggplant Parmesan. The waitress explained that I could have one for there and one to go but I decided, when ordering, that I wouldn't want the same thing two days in a row - that was a wise move. I should mention that my dinner did come with a choice of three puddings or Jell-O and I opted for the rice pudding which was OK. I didn't go away hungry, but I didn't go away wanting to come back, either. The saving grace of my experience was the amazing (5-star) waitress... there is only one scheduled to be there in the evening. She's got a great, upbeat personality, is always smiling, and always rushing about. And the reason she is rushing is because she is the hostess, waitress, bus person, janitor, and food delivery service coordinator, as well!!!!! I'm sure she would never complain, but it's too much for one person and unfair to her - that's a management problem. Also, the place was noisy but not from customers... from technology like the telephone ringing and then the answering machine picking up at full volume and also delivery service tablets binging and bonging to let someone know that a new order has arrived. Again, because there's only one person running around this restaurant, there's no way that the phone can be answered quickly and no way for the delivery service tablets to be responded to, either. So dinner was not relaxing because of that. Would love to go back to have the same waitress and I may just stop by and give her an extra tip for all that she is doing because I feel she probably is underappreciated... but I won't ever go for lunch or dinner again, I don't believe. It had probably been since pre-COVID that I had been there, before, and when they mopped her floor right next to my table with heavy chemical smells, that was a complete turn-9ff for 4 years. Management: your overall rating is only three stars which means you need to be looking at these reviews and correcting the problems to get a better rating and more customers - both new, and repeat customers. There is a lot of diner competition on the 7 miles from Burlington to Cinnaminson on State Route 130 and both the Pandora in Cinnaminson and Route 130 in Delran offer a far better experience. read more

This is the single worst experience I have ever had with a restaurant! I ordered and had my food delivered. It was packaged in collapsing cardboard containers. Eggs were hard cooked and dumped into a small cardboard container. I managed to scrape some of it onto a plate and then realized there was no bacon. I was hungry so I decided to just eat - on my third bite THERE WAS A HAIR IN MY FOOD!!!!!! This is just plain disgusting!!! My family had food either stuck to the cardboard that needed to be scraped off or it was so dry they couldn't eat it! This was not pizza cheese stuck to the top of the box - it was a meal with chicken and pasta! We order out quite often and this was far far far the worst experience I've had!! Tried the London Broil Special. Yecchh! I've never seen a London Broil look like that let alone taste like it. Literally no flavor. Poor quality meat. Prepared wrong! Somebody give the cook a cookbook. Ice tea tasted like it poured out of something with mold in it. The baked potato was safe enough. Crystal Diner (formerly Edgewater Queen) in Edgewater Park, NJ, is a small footprint roadside attraction on southbound Route 130. It looks recently renovated with stone and stainless fascade, and has a cozy if crowded ambiance. I sat down at the end of the counter and was immediately welcomed by a few of the staff hustling their platters and coffee pots. The menu was a tour de force of traditional diner cuisine with several pages just for breakfast. I went with something small (I thought) before a more elaborate and expensive meal. The breakfast sandwich (sausage, egg & cheese on kaiser) seemed about right. I asked my server if they used quality rolls as opposed to the poor varieties found in some kitchens. She assured me theirs were good. They weren't. What arrived minutes later was a large plate, half of which was loaded with home fried potatoes, and a transected sandwich with long toothpicks holding the two halves together. I didn't mind that they used links rather than patties, even when they began to roll out of the sandwich. No biggie. However, the kaiser was a cheap imitation of an actual bakery product. It was crushed, lifeless and tasteless. What was worse were the home fries. They lacked flavor and were dry beyond redemption. Not even salt, pepper and hot sauce could salvage them. It was obvious that the kitchen didn't have a clue and that management was likely part of the conspiracy. When was the last time anyone sampled their offerings to provide quality control? I bought dinner for my family and it was very disappointing. I know the cooks got to follow up with the chef or the owner of the business but it was awful. We ordered a normal hamburger with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles unfortunately i received just buns and burger. The only thing edible was the fries and garlic bread. Next time I'll stick with crazy cow pizzeria, I paid $43 dollars for my order and it wasn't worth $10 to say the least. We were greeted with a warm and inviting welcome upon entering while being seated in a classic New Jersey Diner. Although small it was tastefully styled in Art Deco fashion with a glass showcase featuring decadent deserts like carrot cake, chocolate, assorted pies and cannolis. Abu was our server who graciously place our order of a chicken cordon bleu melt and and a Greek Salad with anchovies minus the grape leaves. They both were quite good. The chicken cordon bleu melt came with fries, pickle and coleslaw. The slaw needed a little something else added to make it taste better but everything else was great. The Greek Salad had too much vinegar not enough oil ratio and the amount poured over the salad was too much. Next time I will ask for the dressing on the side. Overall, I was please with my meal and their prices are very reasonable and clean! The raspberry ice tea was spot on! Just like this place and me returning for another meal! read more

After several visits here for breakfast and lunch, all good, decided to try their Early Bird Dinner menu. At 2 for $25 pricing and a fairly extensive selection of menu choices you can't go wrong. Comes with soup or salad, entree, and pudding or jello. The salad was a nice size and consisted of lettuce, cucumber, mini tomatoes, sliced red onion and shredded carrots. It was accompanied by Italian bread with marinara dipping sauce and butter, a very nice touch. Coffee was freshly brewed upon our request. Lasagna was delicious, a generous size, better than my local Italian restaurant. Chicken croquettes were two decent sized ones, with mashed potatoes, smothered in gravy. To our surprise we were offered cake or pudding/jello, we made the right choice in selecting the cake. Two huge slabs, one lemon coconut and the other German chocolate cake, both yummy. the service was pleasant and efficient. We will be back for sure! read more

Went for breakfast. The menu had plenty of choices that would satisfy. The staff are very efficient and friendly. The food was hot, tasty and well presented. We had the breakfast bowl which consisted of eggs your way, potatoes with onions and peppers along with chopped sausage, bacon and cheese. The bowl came with toast and a fresh fruit cup. The pancakes were large and fluffy. The pancake platter also came with crispy bacon and eggs served your way. The family and I will definitely come back. read more

The Crystal Diner has recently gone through a management change and since I needed a new diner, it made it an easy pick. I wasn't sure what to expect, as it was new. I had driven by before when it was under an it's old name and it looked like a decent diner, smaller but not bad. Atmosphere: There is nothing about the exterior that screams diner. It's a normal cobblestone building. The interior is smaller with several booths and a full length bar. It's a clean restaurant but it's not a big, shiny, building and with so many chrome diners along the same road, it doesn't stand out. Coffee: The coffee was brewed fresh and the waitress made sure it was refilled. It was the local Lacas blend, and I have no complaints. Service: The waitress was clearly either young and new but she was extremely enthusiastic. She was friendly, came to our table often, and made sure food came out quickly. Even though she was new and intense, she was friendly and everything came out quickly. Food: The Crystal Diner has everything a Jersey diner usually does: breakfast, lunch, and many different different options from steak to seafood. I noticed they had a hummus appetizer and we decided to order that. I overheard the manager telling our waitress they no longer serve it, so I guess they haven't changed the menus from the old diner. The meal came with cheesy bread which was good. Any diner with a cheesy bread basket already starts off on a good foot. I ordered a burger which came with fries. The burger was average, nothing unique or unusual but nothing bad either. It was average. The French fries were from the frozen food aisle. In all, my meal was extremely average. Not the worst, not the best. Summary/Would I come back? The Crystal Diner isn't a bad option and has a lot of different options. It's not my favorite local diner, but not my least favorite either. We've been here 3 times since they opened. It's typical diner food. We haven't had a bad meal. Some things were better than others. The mini broiled seafood combo special was delicious and the price was really good. The fried flounder sandwich with coleslaw and potato salad were also good. Breakfast was great - the ham steak is huge, eggs were cooked to order. Greek salad and chicken and rice soup were good. The monte cristo and the chicken croquettes were just ok. They weren't horrible but I've definitely had better at other restaurants. The service has been great on all visits. The only comment is that they ask soooo many times throughout the meal if everything is ok. Multiple people come over - not just the server. Maybe it's because they just opened and genuinely want to make sure everything is ok but it's a little too much. They are all very kind and friendly. read more

Absolutely terrible! My girlfriend and I decided to try this place after I saw an ad in the paper advertising new ownership and 25% off the check. This wouldn't have been worth it if they offered 75% off. We had high hopes for a good meal when we entered. The decor is nice and the place is clean, that's about the only positive. Our waitress seemed decent at first, but quickly revealed herself to be uninterested in providing even average customer service. After returning with our drink orders she asked if we were interested in know what the specials, soups, and sides were. Rather than telling us she just handed us post it notes with them on it and walked away. It took at least 25 minutes for our appetizer to come out, which was the wrong appetizer. Our waitress was unapologetic, preferring to complain to us that the cook was stupid. It took another ten minutes for my girlfriend's snapper soup to come out. The soup was bland and heavily starched. Our correct appetizer, boneless wings, came out ten minutes after the soup. They tasted good, but at $7.99 for 8 chicken popper sided pieces they were hardly worth it. At no point was our waitress apologetic about the extremely slow service. Our entrees finally came out fifteen minutes after we had finished the appetizer. My girlfriend had ordered the fish and chips. They were served with two large, greasy onion rings on top. The actual fried fish look like they had been made from trimmings of a larger cut of fish. My girlfriend described them as dry fish sticks. I ate a few and can say I've had better seafood from frozen supermarket brands. The steak fries served with them were average. It also came with a side of corn and mashed potatoes. The corn was average, but the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant and had no sort of seasoning. I had ordered the special, honey dipped fried chicken. It looked like it had been cooked days before and microwaved. It was barely warm and did not smell like there was any honey on it at all. I decided not to try it and sent it back. When I sent it back I asked the waitress for a refill on my water and a menu to order something else. The waitress had checked out at this point and was not at all apologetic about the quality of the food, nor was she attempting to fix anything. It took five minutes to get a menu. The waitress did not return for another ten minutes to take my order. At that point I was ready to leave. I told her to bring us the check as well as the water I asked for fifteen minutes prior. We were not the only people to have problems. A family behind us received a pork chop that was mostly gristle and was burnt. A couple next to us had ordered a steak and pork chops. Their steak was cold and the pork chops were raw. This diner is a complete mess of a business. The service is slow, the food is awful, and the staff don't seem to care. Don't waste your time or money here. There are plenty of other quality diners in the area. read more

I was shocked to see the low scores from some of the previous patrons but my good friend and I decided to have breakfast at noon. We both had Italian sausage which was amazingly tasty and totally fresh, 3 eggs over medium which were done perfectly and waffles and toast which were great. Not to mention the home fry potatoes which took us back 50 years. It was a terrific breakfast. The coffee is fresh brewed and hearty. Drink your coffee to prevent cancer. I just discovered how the old Edgewater Queen Diner was replaced with a new owner so I decided to check it out when I was home on a random Wednesday. My wife and I went to Crystal Dimer for breakfast. The decor was nice, and the hostess and staff were pleasant. My wife had an omelette and I had chipped beef on wheat toast. Both were on par with many of the more popular and frequented diners. I thought the portions were large, but the prices were also a little high. Hence the 4 star instead of 5. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go there again. read more

Having lived in this area for almost 20 years, It's sad for me to see the decline of this once very good diner (it was sold a few years ago.) While they've undergone some pretty nice physical changes,(in the dining area, at least) it doesn't make up for the poor food quality and the flippant attitude of the female part of the ownership. I ordered prime rib which made it to my plate looking as if it had been stepped on. Not only was it, dry (despite my request for it to be made medium-rare), but it was tasteless and sliced as if they cut a normal portion in half. The au jus looked water and tasted like it came out of a packet. I sent it back and opted to taste my dinner guest's chicken parm. After a few bites, she asked to have it wrapped and tossed out once we left. Our waitress, asked the owner what the veggies of the day were. Without even looking up, she loudly snapped out an answer and went back to talking it up with a customer (the same one she'd been chatting with during the entire visit). The waitress, rolled her eyes up and looked mouthed "sorry". A waitress shouldn't have to apologize for her bosses rude behavior. Upon visiting the rest room, I was met with water dripping onto my head. I looked up to find some of the ceiling tiles removed, others water stained and damaged. There were also no hand towels. At this point, I asked to see the owner myself and brought the issues to her attention. She looked at the waitress puzzled and asked, "Oh, it's dripping now?" And then to me "You can use the other stall." I placed a roll of paper towel near the sink, its not in the dispenser." After a very disappointing visit, we decided to leave. Love this diner, it's local and they food is great. The chicken parm is my favorite. They give you this huge piece of chicken that can last at least two days. When you get a dinner or lunch special you receive desert with it. I recommend the rice pudding with cinnamon and extra whipped cream! read more

My coworkers ordered from this diner and both times there was hair in their food. So l called to order myself and asked if l could have a special request to make my food with no hair. The owner became very rude and started talking loud and said he refuse to serve me. If after the two incidents with the hair l still tried to patronize his establishment because the food was okay. My husband and I just left Crystal Diner and I am sorry to say, we will not be returning. With two breakfast entrees, we added a short stack of hotcakes. Two short stacks of hotcakes. When we got the bill, we were shocked to find out that we were charged $15.98 minus $2.00 for $13.98. I asked the waitress to explain why were charged that much for hotcakes. She got the menu and showed us that an order of 4 hotcakes is $7.98 each. Because we only got a short, two dollars were taken off the regular price. I told the waitress that I thought that the price for two hotcakes was outrageous but we would pay for it. She brought the manager and I complained to the manager. He went only talking about the price of food had gone up. I know that I thought that the price for two hotcakes was outrageous and I was going to put up a review about the price. I believe any other manager would have adjusted the price to keep us as customers. Instead, he got angry and told me to do just that. So, guys, be sure to check prices and ask the waitress about the cost of side orders so you will not be charged the full price for an entree when you only got a side order. read more

Most of the staff is nice. It's a small cozy place to eat. Most of their food is good. The breakfast is good. I had a Broccoli and asparagus mushroom omelette. I had lunch the other day chicken Parm sandwich. I really enjoyed that. I asked for sauce on the side it came out with sauce on the sandwich. I was disappointed. When I was ready to leave my server said he will bring out our check. But it may take him a little bit because he failed basic math. Giggle, um not funny!!! I had pork chops - there were 3 medium sized, boneless chops, with a side of steamed broccoli, and fries. The best part was the bowl of homemade vegetable soup that I started with.
