What is that feeling you get when you bust your behind to make a 3:30 appointment on a beautiful beach day Friday for an oil change, fluid differential replacement and tire rotation/alignment, and told the wait will be one hour, and at 4:30 you see your car has not moved from where you parked it? The feeling is not priceless but rather PISSED OFF! And that feeling when 5:30 rolls around, and the service center is about to close and your car is finally done after waiting for 2 hours? PISSED OFF! And you go to pay the nearly $200 bill and the woman asks how is my day and I reply it sucks because I wasted 2 hours waiting at the dealership, and she shakes her head saying "I hear this all the time". No apology, no reduction in the bill... just the typical ho hum attitude at a dealership which treats their customers like crap. Would you think that telling the customer the car will be ready in an hour and then an hour passes without working on the car, the Westbrook Honda Representative would update the customer, maybe apologize, and ask if it is okay to wait longer? Would you think after waiting for 45 minutes and not having the car worked on, the Representative would update the customer? Can anyone be blamed for never returning to Westbrook Honda? read more

After many months of going back and forth I only update my review to 3 stars. With proper explanation of course: 10 months later and many upset reviews and calls things with my car were finally handled with a reasonable out come. The reason for it being 3 stars is the length I needed to go to be heard had me stressed out feeling lost and aggravated to no end to be heard someone should not have to go as far has going after the entire auto group. I do not like to be pushed to those limits but what gives me the heart to update my review is when I finally met with Dave D'Onofro their GM however I'm not really sure he fully understood the extent of this issue from the start as to what was really wrong. When I was finally able to meet with him and present my case and show him everything that had me worked up things went very smoothly a lot smoother then I expected to be completely honest. We came to a reasonable conclusion where Westbrook bought my car back, I gave the attempt for them to replace but sadly at that time there was no car available on their lot or in the proper distance to locate. My initial lease has now been paid off and I was able to get into something different. I want to thank Dave for taking the time out of the busy end of the month schedule to handle this situation and come to a conclusion where both sides can be less restless and stressed. I thank you for hearing out my side and understanding that the new car process should be exciting and a thing to be happy about. read more

Buy here at your own risk! I bought a certified used car and the salesman lied to me, tried to pull a fast one on me, and then went on vacation for a month after saying he was leacing for a week. It took me ov a month to get what the dealer owed me, and only then after threatening them with the CT Atty Gnrl's office. They registered my car in the wrong town, and then told me to fix it myself at DMV. This is my 5th Honda, and BY FAR THE WORST DELAER EXP OF THEM ALL. Starting out this place looked like it was going to be a decent experience. Nice young salesman who listened when i spoke and did not do the usual car salesman fast talk over you thing! Things were going ok after a test drive when some ugly scrawny vin diesel look alike ( thats not a compliment folks) in a $50 suit that was several sizes too small butted in. I was not even negotiating price! I mentioned that i liked the ridgeline but not the mack daddy mini bigfoot offroad package! He tells salesman that the truck has $2000 of dealer installed extras on it that are not shown on the window sticker. I said if u guy bolted them on u could take them off and i'd buy it. Vin Weasel refused. I said i cant pay extra for things that i hate and asked salesman to take my number and call me when they get another one in. Vin weasel says, " we are not going to call you, everythings presold before it gets here. I dont know about you but im a go getter, if i see something i want i buy it! I would just take the extras off and sell them online for $2000" . Then he gave his best cool guy look, which , i have to give him credit, cant be easy to do when u look like a cross between vin diesel and the puppet from wayland flowers and madam! that little rant took mr. weasel to a new level of repulsiveness in my book. "Recommended" a brake and transmission flush during oil change -- Unfortunately she accepted the brake flush. Dishonest!!!!! too bad there is not a space for less then 1 star. They lied and said that they "owned their own bodyshop" Of course I sent my new CRV there to fix a single door that was hit in a parking lot. After all they are Number 1 in all of new england (according to the BS on their wall) estimated time was three days. 14 days later the door did not shut.... The pin striping was not completed AND the GD door would not shut. This is a mint condition new car with 15K on it. We cancelled the check after they ALSO OVERCHARGED US 600.00 Presently being investigated by the insurance investigators for state of CT The Geico people who inspected the car were laughing and shaking their heads. The 'other' shop which eventually fixed it did it in three days and it's perfect. As good as new. Now these creeps think that they can intimidate us into paying them for crap work done! Documented with videos and photos and statements from real body shop workers. An yes last time I was there for service they told me I'm "overdue to change rear axle grease". Shared that with Honda in Groton and they too laughed. Apparently the Bullcrap in Westbrook is well known. Avoid the entire experience and also avoid the toyota dealer next door. Westbrook Honda definitely will not go the the extra mile to speak on your behalf to the manufacturer about a common problem that I and many other CRV owners have experienced with excessive oil consumption i.e. consuming ONE quart of oil every1000 miles!!! I purchased a new 2015 Honda CRV from Westbrook Honda. Oil consumption started in early 2018. Around the 80K mileage mark the oil light came on. The car was due for its oil change. I checked the oil level and it appeared dry. Purchased 5 qts of oil and emptied almost all 5 qts into the engine. I immediately brought the car to Westbtrook Honda since they were the only ones who ever serviced my car since I bought it from them new. An Oil consumption test was eventually done on the car whereby the engine oil level was checked every 1000 miles to determine its oil consumption rate. The results of the testing indicated that my car burns a quart of oil between 1000 to 1300 miles. So Honda service manager tells me that this level of oil consumption is considered acceptable by Honda Motor Co. Can you believe that! It is not acceptable to me! If I would of known that before I bought the car I definitely would not of purchased this car. Further more I feel that I was sold the car without full disclosure about the issue with excessive oil consumption. I am thinking of class action law suit! It doesn't take much time to research this problem on the internet to learn that there have been literally thousands of dissatisfied Honda owners over the past 10 years that have experienced this problem with the CRV, Accord and Pilot. This car was my first Honda having switched from being a loyal Toyota owner for many years. Boy was I wrong to switch to a Honda. Never again. Unless I get some satisfaction from Honda Motor Corp soon I guess my only recourse is to spread the word about my experience with Westbrook Honda and my CRV. I have called the North American Honda Customer Service complaint hot line and registered my complaint as well as registered my complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. I had a problem back in August with the service department not doing the work on my vehicle that I requested. Tires weren't rotated when asked resulting in the tires not lasting 30,000 miles. A leak in the gasket wasn't fixed correctly and resulting in the repair not lasting a year. Fast forward to today.... my car broke down and when I had it towed to another dealership, they confirmed that my transmission went. They expressed concerns over the tranmission fluid having a burning smell and was dark colored. How is this possible if the fluid was flushed 12,000 miles ago? Turns out the dealership should've been doing transmission flushes every 30,000 miles. Why was the first time they mentioned a flush was at 78,000 miles? Fast forward 12,000 miles and now the fluid has a burning smell and dark. Obviously service didn't happen and now because it wasn't done every 30,000 miles, it is now not covered under the powertrain warrenty. Upon calling and leaving 2 messages for the Service department manager, I am still waiting for a call back. Looking for a call back and some satisfaction. I am very disappointed in their service and would NOT get another Honda! read more

So, my wife and I went in to see about trading in her 2014 pilot. We met with the best salesman I've ever dealt with, Sean Bowen. He remembered my wife because she did all her car maintenance at the dealership. We sat down and started chatting about anything and everything, like old friends. I had met Sean briefly when I would take the pilot in for oil changes etc. And he remembered me as well. After a few hours, we both left with brand new CRV's BECAUSE of Sean! They gave us great value on our trade ins and off we were in new CRV's. I vowed before we walked in there that I would never, ever buy a new car off the lot. Well, its all Sean's fault lol! He was so easy and care free to talk to. Never felt rushed or pressured at all. Hondas sell themselves yes, but Sean was awesome! Dan Alford in the finance department was on his game and very professional! Thanks to the team at Westbrook Honda for a job well done. ago Brought my '14 CRV in to get new brake pads. They resurfaced the rotors and when removing the tires they told me previous work cross threaded the studs. They quoted me a cost near $200 to replace this. They secured all of the other original studs and lug nuts to the car. I have no way to ensure they won't shear off as well, as. When I called the repair manager expressing my frustration, I asked to speak to a district manager as I was given run around about how to solve this issue without absorbing unnecessary cost. I was never called by the manager. I am now facing nearly $750 to have this job done by a garage my family trusts. I'm also being told I need a proprietary software upgrade and fluid flush only Honda can do on top of this despite buying the car certified pre owned very recently. It's a shame to be treated like I'm trying to get away with something, when all I want is for Honda to stand behind the product they sold me. Maybe this will be a public enough forum for something to be done to remedy this issue, which as I see it is a matter of doing what's right instead of trying to eek out more profit. I bought my car here a few months ago and had a fine/normal experience buying the car. This review is for my first service appointment/oil change three months after buying my car. When I came in, they said it would be about 45 minutes to an hour. After an hour and 20 mins, I finally asked how much longer it would be and the woman at the service desk had my keys and paperwork right in front of her and said it was ready... I guess I would have been waiting all day if I hadn't said anything. Additionally, they "wash" the car for free when you get your oil changed. I understand that this is supposed to be a nice touch, but I was really annoyed because I just gotten my car washed that morning at a nice place where they dry it by hand so it doesn't have water spots. I was unaware that they would be washing my car (why they would do that without asking during an oil change is beyond me) but when I left it was dirtier than it was before it was "washed". I told them that I did not ask for a car wash and didn't know why they had done it, but I had just had it washed that morning and now it just looked dirtier. They said they would "fix it" and a man got in my car with a giant Dunkin' Donuts coffee cup in hand, which I thought was extremely unprofessional, and I sat there for 30 minutes while he ran it through the car wash again. Though this dealership does cheaper oil changes than the local Valvoline if you bought your car here, it's not worth the time and hassle. read more

I took my car in for airbag recall. They also checked my brakes and said they were fine. They did the airbag and almost immediately after leaving, I heard and felt rubbing - like a brake issue. I returned the next day to have them check it. They told me it would be a quick check. An hour and a half later, they told me I had a frozen caliper - nothing that they could have done on the brake check would have resulted in that, they told me. I had to take them at their word and left the car to be repaired. BIG mistake. I should have taken it to my usual mechanic. Picked the car up later to the tune of $800 and my brakes were going to the floor. I had to pump them to get pressure. Called them and they said my brakes would feel "softer" because I had had a frozen caliper, but I knew there was a problem. Returned the next day waited another hour and a half to be told I had to leave it. Picked it up later and the brakes were exactly the same. Took it back again and they told me I had a bad master cylinder which would cost another $600. Told them NOT to do the work. Went to my mechanic and he told me the master cylinder was fine and that the work they had done on my caliper was atrocious - said whoever did the work should be fired. He actually called the dealership and told them this. Took it back to the dealership and they finally fixed the brakes. DO NOT EVER take your car here for servicing. Anyone who tried those brakes would have known they were bad and they returned the car to me THREE TIMES with them like that. It was unsafe. AND they tried to gouge me for the master cylinder. My mechanic said they had drastically overcharged me for the initial caliper job which was completely botched. Avoid this place like the plague!!! read more

Easily worst dealership to purchase from or get your car serviced at. Where do I begin? In 2017 my wife purchased a "HONDA CERTIFIED" civic from here and therein the problems began. We took the car home an immediately noticed a groaning noise from the clutch. In addition to this, the rear speakers did not work, there was no bass from the supposed factory installed subwoofer (Civic Si) and the resonator pipe from the intake was missing. These specific line items were all signed off on the certification form by the "mechanic". Maybe they just assumed a pregnant woman wouldn't notice this stuff?? Despicable. Upon bringing it back to the dealership, they replaced the resonator pipe and the subwoofer and RECONNECTED THE SPEAKERS. That means that they certified the car while it was missing parts! They also accused us of removing the subwoofer and disconnecting the speakers. That was pretty nice of them to do to brand new customers. No dice on the clutch as it is a "wear" part and the question of our driving abilities came into play. We have been driving manual cars for half our lives, we do just fine with a clutch (Original owner of a 2008 Cobalt, 150K on the original clutch and its in perfect shape). This took three visits and they offered a 12 month warranty on the clutch against catastrophic failure. The noise wakes me up from a deep sleep. Then, three weeks later the locks began to lock on their own and the airbag for the passenger would just turn itself off. This took two trips to fix. During this whole ordeal I found that the car drifts to the right, which I brought to their attention. They claimed it was due to improper air pressure in the tires, even though I put them at 34 PSI all around prior to going to get service. I found a piece of paper showing the toe was off in the front and the camber was off in the rear driver side. They claimed their machine was incorrect and the piece of paper shouldn't have been left in the car after service. Brandfon Honda reported the same results, and their machine was confirmed working fine. I contacted Westbrook Honda and they owned up to it and finally fixed it, but they were obviously trying to hide it because I guess not performing a alignment on a "Certified" vehicle is how they run their dealership. They also forgot to send our registration and license plates to us, so I had to go pick them up. Why not have the customer fix your screwup, right?The guy who installed the license plate put it on incorrectly and the plate fell off while driving the next day, during a rainstorm. Made a fun hour of playing "find the license plate on the road" while retracing our steps from going grocery shopping. They also only gave us one key to the vehicle and said we could purchase one for $2xx and we declined. I found out later that per the Honda certification process, they were required to give us a second one, free of charge. Got that fixed earlier this year when I contacted Honda corporate and Weskbrook Honda. They also did not include the OEM floormats, or any for that matter. That is also a requirement for Honda Certification. I just don't care anymore, as we purchased WeatherTech mats for it. I love Honda, but take the extra 30 minutes and buy from Brandfon Honda. They are much more reputable and will actually fix your car. I have had better luck at buy here pay here places. Just got a full service @ WH. Went in for brake fluid change, but heard back that given the age of the car (8 yrs), despite the lo mileage (17K) that it really needed a full boat of things done. I suspected this might be the case, but who wants to part with $500+. Nonetheless, we did the deal and I'm ultimately happy that I've got literally years with 'no worry mate'. I priced out the same services with an independent shop and a franchise oil change joint and, surprisingly (at least to me), WH was competitive. All in all, a good experience. read more

My wife brought her Honda Fit in for service to have the A/C check out because it was not working at all. They ran their diagnosic and told her that the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced. Great so far, the cost of the diagnosic was $129.00 which was expected until they decided to recharge the broken compressor at an additional cost of $75.00. I had to have my car in for some routine work and also an issue with the tire pressure sensor indicator light. Twice I explained throughly the situation that was going on and what I had done to troubleshoot it. At the appointment today I was told the tire pressure was fine. This does not solve the light that needs to go off. The advisor had to go back to the technician twice to relay the information I had already given them. They then proceeded to tell me it was going to cost me over $100 to diagnosis it further. Hello my car is under warranty still!!! The advisor had that oh my look on her face! They finally cleared the code stating there is a communication problem! This event took much longer than necessary if they had listened to what I told them from the beginning. The icing on the cake was trying to charge me a ridiculous amount of money and conveniently forget that the car is under warranty!! read more

I literally just left the dealership and was so angry that I had to write a review immediately! Dealing with the internet sales manager, we had agreed on a price (actually he agreed to match another offer I had gotten from another dealer). Mind you, there was NO confusion as to what I was asking. He even verbally repeated it back to me on the phone. He gladly agreed, and I asked for it in writing prior to making my trip down there. He assured me I "had his word" and that the car I was asking for was in stock. I have multiple emails and voicemails prooving his offer in writing. Once I got there he proceeded on with this apparent "offer", however then informed me of his first lie, that he didn't have the car on the lot. After he agreed to find one for me, I started filling out all the paperwork. As we were wrapping up he got the "sales manager" who then told me that he couldn't do that offer. I explained to him that I had it all in writing and he didn't care. He got up from the table and just walked away without any further discussion or customer service. The internet sales manager then got angry with me after I said that he lied and put his finger in my face and said "don't you dare call me a liar". I walked out of that place so fast, I have never been treated with such disrespect. I have continued to file a complaint with the Honda corporation, and I suggest everyone else who has an issue go ahead and do the same thing. The manager has refused to take all phone calls. They lied in every way possible. I know that car salesmen are never the most pleasant to deal with, but these people all the way up to their top management top the cake! Bought a 2006 Honda @ Westbrook Honda and have had it services there since. I recently purchased a 2014 Honda Accord in Florida and went to Westbrook Honda while in Connecticut for its first service. After leaving the several days later I noticed a gash on the rocker panel below the rear door in a place that is not easily noticed. I know that I didn't do this damage, and it was obviously fresh damage. It didn't happen while I was driving so It had to have occurred at Westbrook Honda as That is the only time that the car was out of my possession. contacted them and expressed my displeasure. The contact person said he would have service call me. Never heard from them. There is no way that it didn't happen @ Westbrook Honda and they are pretending that it didn't. Not even a denial. My experiences here at Westbrook Honda have been absolutely terrible, both with sales department and service department. Recently, I had them replace my front tires on my car with brand new tires provided by me. They told me $45 to replace the tires and $89 for an alignment, which they recommended. They said hour and a half wait time. I was there for 2.5-3 hrs. An hour and a half or so after my car went in, they said that one of the nuts/bolts cross threaded and they had to replace it, which would be $15, OK no problem, even though I really think it's one more cheating way for them to squeeze every penny they can out of me. Then when my bill came, they increased the price of the quoted tire replacement by $15 and the price of the alignment by $10, which I complained about because they didn't stick to their price and I got it reduced(which is a sign of a ripoff). Wait, it gets worse... Sure enough, the next day I was driving on the highway and my front left tire was flat, which caused my car to pull hard to the left. What are the chances that the new tire I supplied was flat or went flat in less than 24 hours after being there? I haven't had a flat or leaking tire in a few years, and now suddenly I get one after being at Westbrook Honda the day before? I think they poked it to get back at me for complaining and/or so they can hopefully squeeze even more money out of me. In my other experiences there, the service department way way oversells everything, adds more hidden things to the bill, and recommends costly services all of the time, whether the car is new or old. The sales department also ripped me off on a trade-in, but hey, I guess I'm the idiot who signed the contract, right? I can't believe that I even went back there again and again after they continually ripped me off. I just thought that they would improve because a good car company like Honda should have reliable representatives. It's also a pretty nice building, but don't be fooled, this place is a major ripoff and I am never going back after this recent experience. read more

I called about a previously owned Pilot last November. I spoke to Sammy Amer on the phone and he gave me all the information I asked for and held the vehicle until I could see it the next day. When we got there it was exactly as he said it was, We went for a no pressure test drive and he even put it up on the mechanics lift for me to check underneath. We agreed on the price and bought it. A couple of days later we picked up our Pilot and everything that Sammy promised would be done was done. Sammy is polite and honest and he has earned our trust. Back in 2015 I purchased a Honda Accord and unfortunately the sales person I worked with is no longer there but the finance woman Vanessa was awesome. She assisted me and made me feel so great about my purchase. In November of 2018 I was contacted by Sales person Liz if I was interested in trading in my current vehicle and purchasing a new Accord. I met with her and knew she was going to get me into that new car. Then when it came time to meet with finance Vanessa was who I met with. And what made me feel so happy was the fact that she remembered me from my previous purchase and this time the package she was able to get me was more than out of this world. to this day Liz continues to contact me and see how everything is going. the customer service at Westbrook Honda is top notch. I brought my honda in to have the tires balanced and rotated and a four wheel alignment completed. The total cost was $189. I thought that was high so I call the next closest dealer. The same service at Cardinal Honda was $125. That is a 50% increase from one dealer to the next. I assumed honda had fairly standard service prices from one dealer to the next, but of course was wrong. The service manager would not even consider adjusting the price, stating each dealer had a right to charge what they wanted. I will not return to Westbrook Honda. read more

We bought a CRV in 2007 at the time we purchased an extended warranty then length was 7 years if you did not use the policy for repairs you would be reimbursed the full amount which was 1,700.00! I feel they should have notified us that the policy was coming to a close and we should put in the paperwork , instead when we remembered the policy several months later and dropped off the paperwork we waited for a check in the mail we call Westbrook Honda and go a total run around, put on hold with no one picking up the call, or no one called back, finally I got someone to listen and was told the policy expired and I would not get my money. I had to call them 6 weeks. After dropping off the paperwork they did not even have the decency to let me in on that fact. I feel if they were honorable they would have dealt with this issue in a more up front manner. I believe their intent was to rip us off from the beginning. I will never buy another car from them and I wifi spread the word how dissatisfied we are with our treatment. Please beware!! The one star is only because I could not leave it blank. read more

I can't even listen anymore to the lack of response on behalf of the service department and Westbrook Honda standing by their warranty rules. No customer loyalty. Love the laundry list of repairs that always come with a visit. I'm familiar with the car business and all tactics to boost service dollars. Shameful. This is not the first time I heard your customers complain of the same situation. You know who are over there and I would highly suggest that you complete that power steering repair under warranty. Make the wrong choice and I will take state and legal laws to provide motivation. I always prefer to shop locally for my vehicles. I dealt with Westbrook Honda for over a week, in an attempt to secure a deal on a 2016 Honda CRV-AWD. Near the very end of this deal, an issue arose over the color I had ordered; this color could not be ordered with my package.
