My friend and I stopped by here for a drink. We were 2 of the first customers of the day. After having two white claws, engaging in conversation with other patrons and Cathy the bartender - Cathy came over and made an inappropriate comment regarding my friend talking on the phone. She said that we were "disturbing" a group of men who were on the opposite side of the establishment as us. I proceeded to ask patrons if they were bothered by my friend talking on the phone and they all answered no and said if we were not welcomed here they weren't either. Cathy proceeded to make distasteful comments under her breath and to other patrons in the bar. As paying customers I feel the situation could have been handled differently. Cathy had been joking, laughing, and chatting with us during our 2 hour visit and could have easily came over and politely asked us to turn down the volume and we would have obliged. Professionalism is clearly at the bottom of her skill list. read more

Decided to finally stop in. 8:30PM on a Sunday and they are always open and always open until 2AM! Gen was welcoming from the start and made it a point to learn our names. The taps included Guinness and Stella Artois, along with Galveston Island, Karbach, Back Pew, St A, and Eureka Heights. On the Tele, I was able to watch the NBA Houston Rockets defeat the San Antonio Spurs, XFL Houston Roughnecks beat the San Antonio Brahmas, the OL-RB Combine, and The Family Feud! Took my folks here during Christmas holiday. It's small , but was a pretty good atmosphere, when we went they only had a few regulars in there , so it was pretty quiet. We were served quickly (which I would argue is a big deal as my folks can be pretty high maintenance) they put the cowboys game on for my dad so they get brownie points for that . They serve bar food but it's just premade snacks , that being said they tasted good and the place was very reasonable. We enjoyed ourselves. read more

Apparently they're moving locations at the end of October to a new spot a mile away. We love this little neighborhood bar and grill. Friendly crowd, wonderful bar staff, and good prices. I love this place. My wife and I live all the way in Spring now but still drive down every few weeks for darts and drinks. The service is always great, Robin is our favorite. Mr. C the owner has always been a great host. This is a very traditional bar - no gimmicks. They have great beers on rotation, a nice stock of liquor, darts and sports on all the TVs. They also coordinate bus trips to Astros games and The Ren Fest. It is also one of the best maintained and clean places in the Westchase area. read more

I checked this place out one Friday night. Its definitely a neighborhood bar. Definitely a regulars hang out. Cozy, as another yelper mentioned. A dive bar. A place where you dont have to worry about how you look or what people think. Trying to impress a date? I wouldn't take her here unless you're gold digger testing or testing how she reacts to a dive bar. Overall, I think if you live near you could get to like this place. Is it worth driving a while for? No. Good to go with a bunch of friends? Yes. Limited beer selection for beer nerds. Full bar otherwise. Not really a wine joint. read more

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm not the high falootin' swanky type. If I was, I'd hang out at high falootin' swanky type places, like Westchase Tavern. Their location isn't the jazziest, they're in a strip mall, adjacent to a fitness club, but the vibe they go for says otherwise. Pros: the bartenders are quite attentive. It's not a very big place, so there's never enough people to keep the bartender too busy, but I've got the feeling that that wouldn't stop 'em. They're also one of the few bars that has Flor de Caña behind the bar, the most underrated rum on the planet. Cons: It's one of the more pricey places we play for darts. the aforementioned Flor de Caña in a Cuba Libre will run you 6 or 7 bucks. I think the one thing that really rules out this place in my "like" list is the lack of jukebox. It's just not American. They do have commercial-free satellite radio, so it's not terrible, but I'd rather listen to a few tunes I can pick out. I wouldn't come here if I didn't have to, but it's certainly survivable. read more

When I first heard that Mr. C's and Fedora Lounge were going to combine, I was curious to see the results. They had such different personalities (as far as bars go) and I can say that I'm pleasantly surprised at the results. I remember when this merger was first being discussed that they were trying to keep waitstaff from both bars to make the transition more seamless--efforts like that are great to see from business owners. I finally got to check out Westchase Tavern last night for a dart league night. We were warned that it was a little odd setup in the building, but we weren't quite prepared for the strip mall feel. You basically park in the lot thinking that the sign is surely wrong since who puts a bar *inside* a strip mall. When I say inside, I mean that there are actually glass doors that you must enter through and traverse the hallways passed the gym and empty shops to find the actual bar. This also means that smokers must go exit the bar, go through the hallway and out the door for their cancer sticks (or you could make friends with the bartender and go to the back so you can take your beers with you). The service was incredibly friendly and prompt. I was initially concerned to have just one bartender for the entire place (granted, this isn't a huge joint, but still. . .), but she was fabulous. She came by often to serve us and she was always friendly. There's a Golden Tee game, two dart boards, and decent music available. The odd thing is the restrooms--well, I can speak for the ladies room if nothing else. It is really awkwardly set up with one huge stall inside a room--two sinks (one inside the stall and one inside the restroom), but with the doors both swinging outwards, it can get dangerous pretty quickly in there. All in all, I enjoyed the place. There were things about it that were a little awkward, but I think it gave it charm. They had some awesome happy hour prices, but alas we were too late (ends at 7 and all day on Sunday). I'm thrilled that we'll be playing out of there every few weeks--it is just a fun little bar! read more

This is a cozy neighborhood bar with a great beer selection. Its not particularly cheap, and there's no where to smoke unless you go outside in the front, which is outside the strip center and not directly outside the bar. The patrons are a little older than I am, which is nice, because it was quiet and no one will bother you unless you're actually up for having a conversation. I've been here with friends, and chatted with some of the other patrons, and I've been here alone and was able to enjoy my beer and my solitude. I'll definitely be back. read more

Westchase Tavern is a neighborhood bar inside of a huge strip center, in the old Fedora Lounge location. I've been a few times and feel that Westchase is a fine place if you are in a group, but would venture elsewhere if you're flying solo, unless you're looking for a quiet environment. They have a pretty decent draft selection, and when I was in the last time, they were polling their regulars on new IPA's to put on tap, so that's nice. I went this last time to get a bottle of Saint Arnold BB4 -- Westchase always gets the special beers, and there's never a shortage, though that may be because of what they charge. My one 12oz. beer set me back $13, which I thought was ludicrous. I'm all for markup and making profit, but I was pretty surprised. All in all, I think I'll stick to other establishments in the West Houston area. read more

It's too quiet here. :( I've been here a handful of times and have never been impressed. It's pretty dark, kinda weird that it is inside of an office building with an escalator right outside the door. The 2 or 3 patrons at the bar never even look up from their drinks when someone new comes in. They don't care. The bartender is friendly enough to take your order but that's about it. There are too many other pubs and dives in the area that I'd rather frequent. read more

My name is Andre. Today I have been banned from the Westchase Tavern. I guess for life. Their reasons from prohibiting me from stepping in their facility were legit I had an open tab of 5$ from couple days earlier and I paid what I owed today. I question the motivations and would like to say this to the OWNER : You've insulted me, I quote, " THANK YOU FOR STANDING FOR ME WHEN THIS WOMAN SAID I WAS RACIST, BULLSHIT DUDE YOU'RE A FUCKING COWARD" when I walked out of your infrastructure. Two weeks ago, the woman I've met at your bar was drunk, and we were involved in Public Display of Affection at your counter. You felt uncomfortable, your guests felt uncomfortable, again a fair concern you've made known to us, but when she started to rant about it insinuating it was racially motivated, I did stand for you and repeated several times it wasn't case. But she was inebriated and even when we were outside I did adjudicated in your favor. I have been a client of your bar for a couple months and I never received bias treatment from your employees. This is a great neighborhood bar. The staff is friendly and professional and the bar has a comfortable feel to it. They just added three new big screen TV's (July 2013) for a total of nine. Great place to relax and catch some NFL action. If football is not your game they also have a Golden Tee golf game, a bar top video game/trivia machine and darts. The good: Relatively cheap drinks. The bad: While I love divey bars, the strip mall it's located in is an absolute dump and hasn't been renovated since (what seems) the 70's. All doors are unlocked 24/7, meaning bums like to sleep on the premises every day and night. Now on to the bar itself. I used to love this place which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. If you frequent the place enough you can tell who is at the bar without even looking just by what's playing on the jukebox. For chrissake, how many times can someone play Shine On You Crazy Diamond in one week, let alone one night? It's a ~15 minute song that puts everyone to sleep. Three times in two hours? Not cool. Eighteen times in one week? Even less cool. Listen to your hippie crap at home. The ugly: Very few people wash their hands after using the restrooms. Disgusting. When I get back to my seat after a smoke and notice my drink has suddenly moved, I have to ask for a new one, yet the bartender saw my drink move. Not cool. Then there's the "regulars" that think they own the bar, but of course don't. People like, erm, sounds like Grady are some of the most annoying, disrespectful, and inconsiderate people I've ever met anywhere in this country yet are treated like kings for some reason. The uglier: Put away your friggen phones. Looking up and down the bar, more than half the customers, and usually the bartender as well, are all glued to their friggen phones. Seriously, it's a Friday night and there's only three people in the bar, and the bartender is playing Candy Crush instead of refilling my drink? The ugliest: Three times this week the bartender was missing in action for over 20 minutes at a time. The veteran bartenders don't give a damn anymore. The blonde bartender is rude. The last time we were there we played several songs on the jukebox. She was hanging out drinking and we overheard her say, "I don't want to listen to that." So the other bartender cut off our songs and played something else. We didn't even bother to complain. We just left. Nice neighborhood spot with fair prices, unlike those such as Olde Irish Pub (formerly O'Malley's) that charge Midtown prices in a dumpy dive bar. Chill with a lot of character. This is the kind of place you could come with for a girls night out and actually talk, play darts and play the touchtunes (electronic juke box) or for a date or just to unwind at the end of the day. Non judgmental bartenders who are patient and kind. My fiancé and I come here when we want to low key drink and just be with each other and we see a lot of groups come through who have a great time.
