Love this poke place! So far, it is the best place for poke (including Toronto) in my opinion. Plenty of stools as seats along the wall. Spacious and bright. The service is also good I got a regular ono bowl and that came with 2 scoops of protein (you can mix and match). My base was half brown rice, half veggies and the veggies were so fresh - I didn't see any black mark or wilted ones. The brown rice was filling and it balanced out the spicy ailoi of the fish. Big and plenty chunks of fish (tuna and salmon in this case) - again, very fresh! I think the added pickled ginger made the whole poke bowl - a hint of sweetness and tasted like I was eating sushi also! Each bowl gets complimentary scoops of crab meat and seaweed salad! The crab meat was excellent - probably used real crabs because it's better than all the other "crab meat" from poke places that I had. As well, it didn't have that processed taste or bright orange/pink colour. Will definitely revisit!

My wife and I had lunch here last week and we were both very impressed. The proteins were very fresh and pretty generous servings. Staff were helpful building our bowls as we were newbies to restaurant poke. I had a large bowl with salad as a base with the house sauce. Delicious and surprisingly filling! Prices are fair for the high quality of the food. It's also great to see the owner's commitment to the environment by the use of compostable materials, low impact wooden utensils etc. We will definitely be back.

The salmon was mixed with veggies, onions, cucumbers in front of you. It's a new way , for me, to enjoy poke. The 3 toppings, crab meat, seaweed, and ginger were surprised me. Test great and fresh! Definitely will be back again. I saw the promotion is buy $100 gift card and get a regular poke free. It's about $13 discounts! Why not!? :)

Decided to finally try this place after walking by it so many times. It is a bit saucy than the other places so it takes away from the flavours. Next time, I'll ask for less sauce. For the base, you can choose rice, brown rice, salad or half & half. They have 2 sizes: regular and large. I chose large as I was hungry and chose brown rice. I should have gotten half & half as there was a lot of rice. They do give a big portion of the meat which I chose #salmon. The selection of meat and other toppings is about the same as other places so was decent. It was pretty good

Usually I try to avoid the whole poke phase that Vancouver seems to be currently riding on but I decided to walk down here one day on my lunch break from work. I've tried a few poke places in Vancouver, however this one seems to be my favourite, yay! The staff members were friendly, and their service was really quick and efficient. The quality of the fish tasted fresh, and their portions are quite big. The only thing that I don't like about this place is that their menu is a bit pricey, though poke is always pricey. For $12.95 you can get a regular bowl, or for $14.95, get a large sized bowl. My first time here, I chose the large size because hey, it's only $2 more so why not? I created my own bowl with spicy tuna, sriracha aioli, basically all of the toppings and guacamole over a bed of white rice. I added the atlantic salmon as an add-on for $2.00 which you can do. All bowls get a complimentary scoop of seaweed salad and crab meat, so that was a plus. The total came up to over $17 which is really pricey, but I'd say it was worth it. It was sooo good, and the portion was massive and really filling. I ended up only having half of it for lunch, and the rest I finished it for dinner later on that day. The interior of the restaurant is tiny but oddly spacious, but cute in it's own way. The lighting here makes for good photos. Its a nice place to come here for a quick lunch or dinner with your friend. I noticed that they mix your sauce with your toppings before they pour it in over the rice, which is nice. Sometimes poke bowls can get so full that its hard to be able to eat every bite with the sauce. I ended up coming back a week later after work because I couldn't get my mind off it this place and had to have another fix.. hehe. Will be coming back for sure with a friend.

Aloha from a girl who knows her poke! I judge harshly, as poke is a way of life in Hawaii and I've had many many bowls in my days - we even grab it from the grocery store in Hawaii, but alas- I live in Washington now (frequent visitor to Vancouver) and a good poke bowl is hard to find. Hoke Poke hit all the right spots for me! I polished off my bowl with a huge smile on my face and I will be back every time I visit Kitz! Love the chopstick art on the walls, the quick line, the adorable sign, the abundance of seating, free water, and the amazing bowls! The crab and seaweed are free so the bowl was huge and only one scoop of tuna was needed for me, but large appetites might opt for a second scoop.

You can become the master of your own poke bowls in this aesthetic poke spot - the price can add up quickly on you but it will be SO worth it! I hit up hoke poke with my partner on a hunger rush and our taste buds were delighted with how fresh everything was! The service was great and they were helpful in explaining the different seasonings they we weren't familiar with. I went with the ahi tuna poke bowl and brown rice - added my own toppings and paired it with the yuzu ponzu dressing - DELISH! I have not gone to many poke shops in Vancouver since the trend really took off but for being an avid sushi eater and lover of ahi tuna, I was very happy with the bowl and will for sure go back! 4/5 stars because I wish the serving size was a little larger for the price you pay, but again this could be standard at poke shops - if you know better than I, leave a comment or send me a message! :)

Another poke place. I decided to hit up this spot 'cause it was near the theatre where we were planning on watching our movie. The staff members were nice and friendly and didn't require us to list out all the toppings we want in our poke bowl; just the ones we didn't want. I noticed they mix the toppings with your protein as well as the sauce. I got the salmon with half greens and half brown rice. I had the ponzu with the protein mixed and topped with wasabi and sriracha aioli. I got all the toppings except for ginger. I like how organized this place is with the food as in the not stacking everything on top of each other which makes it hard to eat whatever is placed at the bottom. The greens are to the left and rice is to the right, protein on top with the sides (crab salad, seaweed salad etc). I gave them three stars because I didn't find the poke to be exceptionally good.

    Two poke bowls.

Be prepared to wait, and wait you will. Especially if it's a sunny day. 30 min to order your food, and then another 20-30 min to get it, depending on how busy they are. Outdoor seating only with a bunch of benches and a few tables. I already knew I was going to do take away, so I didn't need to jostle for a seat. Almost everyone else had to do the jostleing. Two piece cod and a salmon tacone. The cod was overcooked. The tacone was good. Fries were crispy and unevenly fried. Meaning some pieces were burnt a little. Still acceptable tho. Hence the 3 ***'s It was decent, but it didn't wow me. Maybe it was an off order day. I like my fish. You can smell the ocean near the pier. It is a gorgeous city with a rich history and some of the nicest people we've ever encountered. So when we booked a Canadian Rail Vacations trip that originated in Vancouver, we were thrilled. And one place we had to revisit was the Beach Avenue Bar and Grill (BA). We had been there last July on Canada Day and had a blast with the Staff. Catching up with them on this trip was something we were looking forward to. When we arrived around 645p, we recognized most of the Staff and Manager/Bartender. It was one of those "where do we know these guys from" kinda moments. When we spoke to Vadym (Manager/Bartender) he actually remembered what we ordered in July '25! That was nothing short of amazing! And the Poly Sci Major aka Jasmine was graduating that week. Sadly, Rose was off that night. Vadym took our drink & food orders as we caught up like old friends - it's that kind of place. We did get a laugh when he asked "same as last year?" The Staff here is so friendly, the view spectacular, and the location scores a 10 for people & boat watching. We had a calamari app, fried chicken sandwich and the Beach House salad with chicken. The calamari was delicious - very crispy with lots of side veggies. The chicken sandwich was thick, crispy and the slaw worked great with it - much better than the usual lettuce & tomato. The salad was fresh with excellent greens (a biggie for us) and had lots of chicken. (See the pics). Vadym kept our drinks and waters full as we ate and laughed. We ended up staying at BA until just before closing. As with last time, the food and drinks were excellent and a good value. The Staff was the true "icing on the cake" and apologies to anyone we left out of this review but had laughs with. We would highly recommend the Beach Avenue Bar & Grill. It's an easy walk from the Fairmont and a great view. Congratulations to Jasmine on her graduation and many THANKS to her, Vadym, and the Staff for another great visit. See you again soon.. ****Service Animal Discrimination Experience****…read more I'm writing to document a disappointing and unacceptable experience with Blue Water Cafe in Vancouver. Earlier today, we called ahead to request dining accommodations with my certified service dog, trained in the United States by an Assistance Dogs International (ADI)-accredited program -- a certification that is fully recognized under British Columbia's Guide Dog and Service Dog Act. Instead of courteously discussing the request or asking the legally permitted questions, the staff member immediately rejected our reservation, accused us of not having proper documentation, and refused to review or even allow us to present our credentials. This was done over the phone, without any attempt to understand the situation or follow BC's service animal regulations. Under BC law, restaurants must accommodate certified service dogs and may only ask: * whether the dog is required because of a disability, and * what task the dog is trained to perform. Blue Water Cafe did neither. Instead, we were dismissed, spoken to rudely, and denied access based on incorrect assumptions about service dog requirements in British Columbia. For a restaurant of this reputation, this level of misinformation and lack of courtesy is unacceptable. Service dog users deserve dignity, lawful treatment, and basic respect -- not snap judgments, false accusations, or barriers to dining. I hope management addresses this immediately through staff training on BC's Guide Dog and Service Dog Act and implements proper procedures so that other guests with disabilities are not subjected to the same treatment. MARY was very rude she had zero empathy and her tone was very obnoxious as well she had zero patience and her tone was not at all pleasing, she shouldn't be in customer service if she has no skill as to how to calm a situation, she has zero empathy towards us and didn't know how to talk in a manner that people would understand your situation, she just didn't seem to care. Why would someone want to work in a customer facing job if they have no patience to deal with customers. She was beyond rude , no words for Mary indeed! She passed me on to the manager , he was a guy, Kaden or sounds like that name, he was also not very helpful or didn't even try to make the situation a better one knowing it was my birthday, they both definitely have the most horrible customer service we've experienced so far , that day we were also driving back from the Four Seasons hotel in Whistler and they were such beyond lovely when it comes to going above and beyond! They definitely have the gold standard as to how people should be treated! This place is totally a downgrade from what we've experienced at the Four Seasons Hotel. Please don't assume on anyone's service dog. Please don't discriminate your tone towards anyone having a service dog and explaining it to the person properly showing empathy, it would have been a totally different experience and outcome when it comes to my review, because mental health is real.

And while there are no shortage of seafood restaurants serving fresh crab on the Steveston waterfront, we wanted to give The Crab King a fair shake. I'm so glad that we did! My wife ordered a King Crab for herself which, after tearing it literally limb-from-limb, eventually declared it to be tied for her favorite boiled crab dish anywhere! High praise coming from such a consummate crustacean connoisseur! For myself and our son, an order of fish and chips, and the grilled chicken sandwich rounded out our order, both of which were crispy, tasty and delicious. Regarding the fish and chips, they appeared to be tempura-battered, and I'm still not 100% sure what type of fish it was. It may have been cod, but it seemed more like catfish, but either way, it was tender, juicy, flaky and delicious. No complaints here! More than anything, though, the employees here went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. Our toddler son, who is normally extremely well-behaved in restaurants, was having a bit of a fuss here and there. Without prompting, the servers brought us a little radio to play music for him, as well as a couple of toys to play with, one of them being a wind-up truck that they gave to him to take home! He loved it there, and still plays with it at home! They even played peek-a-boo with him from behind the counter, soliciting laughs and giggles, for the better part of 15 minutes! That sort of customer service is nearly impossible to find, and should be praised and cherished wherever it is found! Whatever the past may have held for this restaurant, the Crab King is an entirely new animal now, serving up fresh seafood by uncommonly wonderful employees, in a fantastic floating location. They even offer to cook spot prawns and other seafood purchased from the boats docked at the nearby waterfront marketplace, for a modest fee. With all these things going for it, there's no doubt who wears the crown of Crab King in Steveston Harbor!
