    Shoyu chicken ramen

Back at this place again because I was craving Poke and saw that they had Ramen as well! Killing two birds with one stone. They had a trainee so the order got a bit complicated for her and for some reason the poke didn't seem as good as before! It was way too saucy for my liking. The ramen was good but noodles a bit too hard. The portion was decent for the price but they packed the bowl with lots of bean sprouts. It was so hard to dig into the bottom!

The Poke Shop is situated in the heart of Downtown, directly across the street from the famous steam clock. I walked into the store not knowing what to expect, as my last poke experience in Vancouver was a little lacking. From my expectations towards the idea of poke, it makes a big difference if the fish is pre-marinated. Thankfully, it was at The Poke Shop! I actually had a wonderful experience here and can't wait to return. The best part I think was that toppings were unlimited and there were so many to choose from! They also had a bunch of unique drinks - I had the Pineapple Plantation Iced Tea which had crushed pineapple chunks, mango juice and some form of tea. It was $3 with the combo. I had the regular bowl - 2 scoops of protein for $12.95. I feel as though they could have been more generous with the scoops, but there was enough toppings and base to make me full. Here's what I ordered: Base - Half japonica white rice and half baby spinach Protein - Ahi Tuna & Wild Sockeye Salmon Sauce - Signature (I still have no idea what this was, but it was SO good) Toppings - mango, watermelon, cucumber, edamame, imitation crab meat, tobiko, and nori (they have some premium toppings for like $1 or so extra like avocado and poached egg but I decided I had enough toppings already) Overall Verdict: Service - 5/5 Ambiance - 4/5 Food - 4/5 Would I return: yes!

I had the large size poke bowl, and man, was I so full! That's a lot of rice! Wish the poke itself were a lot too. 2 full scoops should be fine - it was 2 scoops but not full. I like that there's a variety of protein and toppings! I suggest you get all the toppings that you can eat! They will definitely solve your hunger! :-) Will I go back? Definitely! Just coz I love poke!

Unlimited toppings! Colourful and delicious drinks! Fresh seafood and different bases to choose from! The regular bowl is a larger size, but you can ask to have half a bowl of rice, and half greens or zoodles (zucchini noodles!!) so it won't fill you up as much. In my opinion, this is much more satisfying than getting a huge bowl of rice. I would recommend building your own bowl, since you can add everything to your heart's content. They also have bowls the owners created so if you're really struggling on what to pick, you could just go with a bowl they've built. This is the first poke place I've been to in Vancouver and honestly I'm not disappointed! The staff are nice, the bowls look amazing, and their drinks are good too! I would recommend the Ahi tuna, the BBQ unagi, and the spicy baby scallops, as well as the special sauce. The only thing would be to have a warm/hot drinks selection, since it is getting colder and I get cold easy. Overall, totally would come back!

Welcome to the underground poké scene! (I just like saying that. And it literally is underground. But lots of light and a sweet tidal wave mural!) Being both vegetarian and gluten free makes me a hard lady to feed, but The Poké Shop charmed every taste bud and looked gorgeous doing it. I went for half purple rice and half zoodles as a base, skipped the proteins (no vegetarian protein option) and loaded up on the UNLIMITED TOPPINGS :D The guy serving me was the one who opened the shop, and he made great suggestions as I hovered over the toppings indecisively. In the end, I ended up with: the house 'special sauce', pickled ginger, fried onions, pea shoots, grated beet and carrot, red onion and cilantro. Sounded random, but magically tasted perfectly balanced, and gave me different flavours in every bite. I also got a 3-berry lemon soda, which was deeeelish. Space was clean, bright and colourful, really welcoming. I only have one objection, but it's a pretty big one: everything is disposable. The cups, the bowls, the cutlery and chopsticks. I know this neighbourhood is geared toward takeout, but it would be nice to have the option to use washable dishes and cutlery when you're eating in, so that you don't generate waste unnecessarily. Serving size was perfect to fill me up without initiating a food coma...I actually felt very energized after! Like I might actually become one of those Vancouverites who goes hiking. Verdict? Great food, beautiful space, convenient location...just bring your own spork and water bottle to minimize waste!

Came here a couple of months ago when they first opened. It was amazing. The sauce was good and oh those baby scallops. Love the healthy option of zucchini noodles. Yes there was a long wait but it was well worth it. Second time around.....What happened to the quality??? Also they were skimping on the protein. And yes, I got 4 proteins this time and all were sadly disappointing. Unlimited toppings, not really. They no longer charge you extra for egg and have removed avocado's from the list of toppings and have replaced it with guac but wouldn't offer it to their customers. They just flew over them and went elsewhere with my poke bowl. I had to ask them to take a few step back the production line for the items missed. Drinks - first time I tried their plantation iced tea. It was ok. Nothing too special and regretted not getting the macadamia milk tea. This time I did get it and it was horrible. Didn't like the chopped macadamia which tasted like walnuts and the milk tea flavour was off. Also took a long time for them to make. When they did, someone who ordered after me got theirs first. Not coming back.

My first poké experience but I could tell it could be better. The staff was confused. They didn't know their menu. I ordered a preset bowl and they needed to keep checking the menu. Most were friendly but the girl I paid was borderline rude. The food was tasty. Could use more sauce. Pineapple was hard not ripe yet. I'll try a different place.

Best Poke I've ever eaten in my life. Cannot recommend enough. Price is a little steep however you can customise the wide range of toppings to exactly what you like and they're unlimited! Extremely friendly staff and also the playlists always seem to be great which is an added bonus! Must visit lunch spot if you find yourself on Water Street!

The best ramen I've ever had in Vancouver!! The broth wasn't too overwhelming and the staff was very welcoming. Will definitely be returning ‼

Very delicious and very healthy. Love the vegetables and the rice! If I'm back in Vancouver, I'll come back again. Highly recommend!

Disappointing poke place. I really wanted to like this place since it was close to school but for its price, the quality wasn't worth it at all. Made my own bowl since it was my first time. I got a super large with japonica white rice (what even is japonica?) with 3 scoops of ahi, cucumbers, crab, masago, their signature sauce, wakame, and sesame seeds. As a person who eats poke on the regular, I could immediately tell the fish was not fresh. It had a gel like texture! Fish should not taste like that! As great as it was to have unlimited toppings, it seemed like all the mix in ingredients were just thrown together and had an odd isopropyl alcoholic taste to them. The thing I'm very particular about poke is that if the mix in ingredients were just random fruits and vegetables, it's a total disappointment for me. Putting crab pieces vs. crab salad are two entirely different flavours that can make or break a bowl. The bowl was also 90% white rice which was ridiculous for making up the bulk of the bowl. The worst part was the sauce which was an odd citrus ginger perhaps? It didn't have much taste to it and I couldn't even tell what it was made of. All I knew was that it made my tongue tingle and not in a good way. A good sauce can also really define a bowl but I probably should have gone with something like a ponzu or shoyu to be safe had I known the house sauce would taste so odd and had a strange texture. The way they are set up gives customers a difficult time seeing what the ingredients are when their in cylinder containers going deep into their drop in fridge. Customer service was average but the girl who was serving us seemed a little confused and hesitant. Won't be visiting this place again unfortunately since it wasn't worth nearly $20. Perhaps if they reconsidered their menu I'd come back but not for any time soon.

Very yummy and reasonably priced. Tried ramen too, not bad at all for a shop that doesn't focus on ramen. Don't miss the House special drinks they are deeeeeelish!

The Poke Shop located in the heart of Gastown is a must try! Great ambiance. A wide variety of unlimited premium toppings to choose from. Their drinks are tasty as well.

I made my own bowl, which is always a lot of fun. First time I've had quinoa as a base, but let's give it a go! I think I went for most of the items, except for the ones where you had to pay extra. The tuna I got was fresh, as were the other ingredients. I went wild on adding sauces at the end. I designed a great concoction. I didn't get a seat at 3pm on a Thursday, so I had to walk back to campus to eat it. A quick thing I learned the hard way, if you want quinoa, use a spoon. Overall, friendliest staff I've met on campus, delicious choices, and quick service.

Way back…read morebefore COVID was in existence, my coworkers and I would grab poke pretty frequently from Steve's Poké Bar for lunch at Lougheed. We all loved having this as a lunch option because it's, well, relatively more nutritious and clean than say, burgers or fried Vietnamese spring rolls. So, my bro and I decided to give the SFU location a try and waiting in steady anticipation for our custom poke bowls. The food came relatively quickly and the portions are still quite generous but...the sauce department was lacking. We both felt like there wasn't enough flavour to the poke, and the plain white rice was starting to overtake the delicious toppings. It was a bit different from my past experiences with the Lougheed location. Anyways, still got my poke fix, though I may lean towards trying Pokey Okey more next time haha
