Requested an inspection for clothes moths. Scheduled the appointment between 8:00 am - 9:30 am. Called the company so get an estimated time the morning of my appointment. Reached a call center and they had no number for the service person and no way to reach him. Waited until 10am and no one showed up and I never received a call. I called the call center back and canceled the inspection. A no show! Now does a company like this exist? read more

Called for help with a wasp nest next to our front door. The nice man called back and wouldn't give me any information until he had collected all my personal information, saying "The computer system won't allow me to give you any details until I've collected your information." Thanks but no thanks, goodbye. These guys may be very good at pest extermination, but I will never know. I am done with giving out all my salable personal information before the company will tell me whether they provide a product which meets my needs. What do you do when your Gardner tells you that he thinks you might have digging squirrels? You call an exterminator. I didn't want anything digging underneath my house! I called and was given an appointment two days later. I was given a 3 hour window when they could arrive and was lucky enough to be the first house of the day! We had a professional come out to examine the area in question and go thru the crawl space to determine if we actually had a rodent problem. This time, we were incredibly lucky that the rodents have just been rearranging our rocks and were not able to penetrate any walls or get under the house. This brought us peace of mind. It is nice to know your house is rodent free. All we paid was the fee to have the house inspected which was minimal. I would definitely call them out if we have a future problem. read more

TODAY'S UPDATE - I called the collection agency to let them know I will pay the amount NUT I am still disputing the claim. The collection agency tells me that ontop of the $112 fee, I NOW have an additional $38 fee that he couldn't tell me what it was for. It a matter if days, how does one have additional funds ADDED to their account. I told him THEIR notice to me says $112. So where did this $38 extra come from. He couldn't/wouldn't tell me. So I called Western Exterminator and got the run around again from the call center. She said my message has been "passed on" to the Reno manager. This company a customer service is terrible. They treat their customers horrible. Nothing is their fault. It's the customers fault, or covids fault according to one of the call center reps!!! NO STARS is the perfect rating. But to get this posted, had to choose a star ..Not sure where my original post went that was submitted a couple days ago, but this is an update..... October 2020, Western exterminator did a bug spray around my house. I paid the technician, in full, the same day...before he drove away from my house, he was give me the check. A couple weeks later, I get an invoice. I called, ended up talking to "the call center" girl tells me "they will have to look into it". I told her the check was given to the technician the day of service. I was then told the techs were not allowed I the office due to covid. What do you mean they're no allowed in the office, isn't there a mail slot in the door! Well, they were looking into it. A couple weeks later, I get another invoice. I call back, yep, got the call center, asked to talk to someone in the local office. I was transferred and supposedly talking to a local office employee. Told her the situation, and the reason I was given as to why the technician still had my check almost a month later...(it was Covids fault). She said she has never heard of that before and thought it was odd as well. I told her if this is how they do business, I don't want their contract and I shouldn't have to pay the bill as I budgeted for it WEEKS ago. She agreed, cancelled the contract and zerod out the bill. I even confirmed with her no balance. She confirmed - no contract, no balance and apologized for their mistakes. I then cancelled my check with the bank A couple weeks after that, I get another invoice AND a call from the tech that he was in my area and wanted to spray. I told him that his company obviously doesn't communicate, I cancelled the contract. Well, June 2021, I get a collection notice that Western Exterminator turned me over for non payment. For days, I have been trying to get ahold of someone in the Reno office to discuss this. The call center "says" they are forwarding my messages, I have not received a call back in 6 days. read more

We have used Western Exterminator in the past and have received great service. We had an appointment today and they did not show up or call. We rearranged our schedule and waited 6 hours. We called two times but did not receive a call back. We understand that conflicts with scheduling happen but a courtesy phone call at the minimum is warranted. read more

Absolutely avoid at ALL COSTS. We had an exclusion done for rodents in the walls. It did nothing. The tech came out and would find more holes, or the rodents would push out the mesh he'd put in place. Totally useless. There is supposed to be a warranty on the work, but we have been trying now for 8 months to have someone follow up, and have not been able to get anyone out. The rodents went from being in one section of our walls to now literally in almost every room in the house. It is maddening to hear rodents galloping through our walls, and every time I call I am told they're so sorry, and that they'll urgently handle my request. Then crickets. Don't trust these people with one penny of your money. read more

In one visit, Western Exterminators managed to not just treat my house for our ant problem, but discover where the nest was and wipe it out. They said wait 7-10 days? Try 7-10 HOURS before the ants stopped showing up. Worth every penny, and the company rep was friendly, professional, and came across as an all around great guy. He took the time to explain what was going on, and wiped out an ant infestation that has been annoying us for years. We've hired other companies to come out and try and deal with the ant problem, and not one of them ever tried to find the nest - they just treated the inside of the house. I highly recommend Western, so much so that I signed up for a contract with them to make sure our ants don't come back! read more

Just caught my fifth mouse since my last review. Still never heard from anyone. Crawled under my own house and found several areas the exterminator should have checked out. They are still billing me for a service that was never performed. I'm so disappointed. Finding mice in my kitchen, living room, and guest bedroom is disheartening. If they would Have actually crawled the house to begin with like I was told they would have been able to trace the mice. If they would have mapped out my house like I was promised they would have been able to see trails. If they would have black light tested my house they could have seen urine trails inside. Instead they kept saying "it was probably one lucky mouse that followed you in the door when you got home." Horrible customer service. Horrible follow up. Plus they still want to be paid. read more

Get "Trevor" if you can, but everyone we've worked with there has been really good. We bought a home in S. Tahoe with a legacy of both insect and rodent troubles. In no time they got us cleaned up and protected. No more problems now. After having an earwig attack the night before, I was paranoid to sleep and couldn't stand it anymore!! I called on a Saturday morning and left a message regarding my problem as they weren't open yet. I received a call back within 30 minutes of them opening and the receptionist was very pleasant to deal with. She thoroughly explained the packages they offer and what the visit would entail. She was able to have a technician at my house within 30 minutes after our conversation which I was amazed and so thankful for! The technician who came out was very friendly and also thoroughly explained exactly what he would be doing. He was fast and did a great job. I will definitely be using them again. Friendly service, this company cares! We had Western Exterminator out to spray the exterior of our new home to prevent bugs from crawling inside as the temps cool down. Our technician was very nice and was also scheduled to spray our inside baseboards and vents, but when he learned we were about to paint, he gave us his cell phone number and told us to call him back directly--the new paint would have made the bug repellent useless. He wanted to come back later to finish spraying when we finished painting. I'm glad to know he was honest and didn't just let us paint over the spray! He also filled me in on what to look for as far as other pests go, like mice and bees, which is really helpful being a first time home owner! Their prices seem reasonable and even their customer service gal was very nice on the phone; we even purchased one of their service plans! We really value local companies who care and Western Exterminator seems to be on top of it! read more

My first service was in 2015 with quarterly service. Since then I have had 5 or 6 different people come to do service. The office staff don't know the service staff schedules (contractors?) and you will wait a week or 2 to get a response. I learned this early on and started to call the month prior to schedule service. I got frustrated with that as well and found it best just to get the direct number of someone who provides the service and bypass the office. After my 5/14 service, I saw that the bill had increased. The bill had been increasing annually but this was after 3 quarters. The increase was also larger percentage wise than in the past. I did not receive notice that it was going to increase and just saw the charge on my bank statement. I am guessing the notice was on the service report, which I have only received after 7 of 12 services which didn't include my 2 most recent services. On 5/18, I emailed the Service@WesternExterminator.com address on the website about these issues and received an automated acknowledgement. On 5/29 after receiving no response, I called the Reno office and was told I could speak to manager Spencer who was unavailable. I forwarded the 5/18 email to him. On 6/2 I sent another email to him. It is 6/12, so after almost a month I have received no response from these contacts. Service has been fine, but I feel this office has communication issues. read more

He came in, inspected and I trusted his judgment completely, as he proved that he knew exactly what he was doing. He took care of the problem, with all the details that I needed, walked me around the perimeter of the property to show me where the infestation was taking place, and he left me confident that I could call him any time and he would be right back to out spray again, if needed. First, yesterday I called for an appointment. Very professional and friendly on the phone. Today I had the estimate for rodent problem at my boyfriends house. The tech, Roy, was 10 min early (awesome btw) and he got under the house quickly. Totally honest about the issue and didn't try to sell me anything other than advise on what to look for. After having a bad experience with a nationwide company, I wanted to go to a local company (Sonoma County) with a broad reach. I contacted Western and they proposed a very good service option and I scheduled the initial inspection for the following week from 2-4 pm. It was 3:30 and my wife called to say "nobody has called or stopped by" so, I called the 800 customer service (CSM) number to see what was going on and that is when the wheels came off the bus. I asked why hasn't anyone called or stopped by when my appointment was from 2-4 where the CSM said you are scheduled between 3-5 pm, you were only requested a 2-4 pm slot. WHAT?!?!? Strike one The CSM said let me call you back in 15 min to find out what is going on, what number should I call you on. I said not the number in the file but my mobile. CSM says, there is no phone number in your file. WHAT?!?!? Strike two After an hour, I call again to another CSM, tell her I was waiting for a call back that was supposed to be an hour a go and ask to please speak to a manager. After two attempts to get a manager no manager to be found. WHAT?!?!? Strike three At this point I told them if this is how service is going to be then cancel my initial inspection appointment as I do not want to deal with this level of customer service from the start. This could be an oddity but, these folks will never get my business if this is how they start a relationship with a customer. read more

She came back on the line and said that he had gotten things confused and was actually up in Sommersett. I am in South Reno. She apologized and offered to have him at my house by 10 or 10:30. Seriously the worst company I've ever had the displeasure to sign up with!! Their team has ZERO COMMUNICATION in the front office. I canceled my service today after relentless billing issues, and I just signed up this month. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else unless you like to babysit and have your card charged incorrectly and get a different story as to why every time you call to have it resolved. I was told when quoted that they'd waive my initial fee and only be charged $32 for the month since I had quarterly pest control service regularly with my previous company for 3 years. Upon the initial spray, the paperwork said $154 initial fee. So I didn't sign the documents. That's not what I was told when the appointment was scheduled and I'm not signing because I don't agree to it. So I had to call the company to which I was told that they notated my account to waive the initiation fee and only charge $32. Two days later I had a charge to my card for $96! So I called and was told that I'd have to discuss the issue with the original scheduler who was "unavailable". I left a message with no return call. Called 3 days later and expressed my concern and displeasure with the amount charged to my card not being what the agreement was. They told me that a manager would have to review the voice recorded call and call me back. No response. Called again a few days later. Mind you everyone I called I had to re-explain everything! Like they're were no amount notations whatsoever! So irritating! Finally I was told that they would waive the initial fee and apply the remaining two months prepaid to September and October and my card wouldn't be charged again until November. But that they would have a manager call me to set up a quarterly vs monthly charges from November and to expect a call within the next 2 days. It's been 2 weeks! NOTHING! So I wasted 40 min staying on hold for the two today to hang up on me or we got disconnected. Had to call back, holding for 15 more minutes to speak with a rep Ericka. She was extremely short with me and said that they would be charging another $32 this month and next month to prepay for November. Umm! NO! that's not what I was told with my conversation on the 15th! I was calling to speak to the manager who never called me back only to find I was back at square one and repeating the whole thing. Ended up demanding my cc on file to be removed and my service canceled entirely! She was hesitant to email proof of cancellation bc apparently they put in a request to cancel and a manager calls you to confirm. UM NO! THAT'S WHAT GOT US INTO THIS MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE. After 1 hr. No email received I had to call back about the cancelation confirmation. Only to be told that ericka was busy and would send one shortly. Very frustrating, poor customer service and they make promises about waiving initiation fees and don't. HIGHLY DISSATISFIED! read more

We live out in the country and were having an issue with mice in 1 bathroom inside and packrats outside. Spencer came out on a weekend, took his time with us and we signed up. He placed bait stations all around the outside of the house and traps inside the one bathroom. He left us with extra glue traps and mouse traps and in less than a week we didn't have ANY mice in the house and haven't had any since. Now it's warm and the ants are showing their ugly heads. For the last two years I have gone through this service to exterminate ants during the summer every time the exterminator comes they do a great job. The ants are gone within a day or two. The problem with Western exterminators is the customer service and I'm not saying that they are rude I am saying that they don't know what the heck is going on. This is the third year I will be going to them and they told me that they do not have my information on file. I literally spoke to the same exterminator that came to my house and he said he remembered me. They had told me 12 to 48 hours for my card to be charged. I called asking why my card hasn't been charged and then they proceeded to charge my card. Why is it that a customer Hass to ask to charge for payment? On top of that it took two calls to finally get an itemized receipt sent to my email. If you're OK with jumping through hoops to get good service go for it. read more

They don't mind taking the time to explain things to you. Devon in South Lake Tahoe is terrible . Do not bother with this guy. Had mice under the house and he didn't want to even open the door to look under the house. He thought he would set a few traps . Complete tool . Call Clark instead . They came out set traps and informed me that I had to close the holes. Western didn't even understand the aspect of prevention . Clark places screes, takes out your old insulation , plugs the holes and gets rid of gophers too. And the guy is good, likes his job and will actually work. read more

Beware! The way they conduct business like the pest they treat. After several price increases in a short amount of time, I decided to take my business somewhere else. I cancelled service at the end of a service period, last November or December (2016). And in September 2017, I'm still receiving invoices despite my multiple phone calls and their confirmation that it was cancelled every time. And every time like the other reviewer, I was told that a manager would call me... What for? To tell me that my service is cancelled? And of course, no one has ever called me back. This is appalling, in the mean time they continue to invoice me for service rendered while my service was cancelled... I still can't get rid of them!
