Had a great experience here today! My car got towed from our HOA because I made the mistake of pushing my limit with our guest pass. When the car was gone in the morning, I knew why, and knew it was my fault. Due to logistics, I was not going to be able to pick it up before they closed at 5. Their dispatch said I could call and pick it up 24/7... however, there is a $100 fee for after hours pickup (makes sense). Their dispatch also said that it's cheaper to pay the $55 storage fee for one night than to pay $100 to pick it up that night. Since I was not in a hurry, I decided to keep my $45 and pick it up (this) morning. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Heather who was very welcoming and had a friendly attitude. Given the headaches that I am sure come with the job, she was super friendly and we laughed a bit. Joe was running the office inside and was super cool... we also laughed... then we all laughed... then we all peed our pants and had to go get new pants... OK. You get it, it was a good experience even though I am out $350. Some advice: be smart, YOU know why your car got towed. The tow yard is not going to give you a break because you parked in the guest space at your complex. It's not their business to do so. SERIOUS TOWING DISPUTE -- DISABLED PARKING SPACE & VEHICLE DAMAGE On August 28, 2026, Western Towing removed my vehicle from a designated accessible parking space at Las Americas Premium Outlets while a valid disabled placard was prominently displayed. The written tow authorization I received identifies the alleged violation as "WALK-OFF, NON-CUSTOMER." I dispute both the basis for the tow and the characterization of the circumstances. I also discovered physical damage to my vehicle and damage to my dashcam associated with this incident. I have preserved photographs, records, and other documentation concerning the condition of the vehicle and the incident. I submitted formal complaints to the appropriate agencies and received case/complaint confirmation. I am not suggesting that the filing of a complaint itself constitutes a finding of wrongdoing. Importantly, Las Americas Premium Outlets management has now confirmed to me in writing that video footage and documentation of the incident have been preserved. Western Towing has also referred this matter to its corporate counsel, who has acknowledged my evidence-preservation request. The underlying dispute remains unresolved. I am intentionally limiting this review to facts that can be documented. Based on my experience, anyone whose vehicle is towed should immediately preserve the tow paperwork, photographs, receipts, vehicle condition evidence, and all written communications, and carefully review the stated basis for the tow. My wife works at Tricity Medical Center in Oceanside. Our son's car which is in her name was towed from the parking lot. It is registered in Alabama because that's where he lives. He was visiting us when we got a call from her father who was put in the hospital back in Alabama and our son had to fly back and help him, and would return back for car as soon as he could. We left his car at the hospital parking lot where she notified security and hospital authority it was there. We just found out the car was towed by western towing in Oceanside. They don't have any information online to help find the car by vin or tag. None of the state resources pulled it up, no one from the hospital could tell us anything so that tells me that they violated California wrongful towing laws, primarily under Vehicle Code § 22658, forbid towing from private property without express written authorization from the property owner/agent, who must be present. I finally found the car after searching online for days, because I remembered I put a AirTag in it because it was his car. I believe they wrongfully removed the car because we had the hospital permission to park it there. Will be picking it up today 4/6/2026, asking for authorization form for towing and speaking to the lawyer this afternoon as well as filing bbb complaint. read more

Illegally tow your car and then don't even bother to staff their locations and take their sweet time letting you get your car out. Wouldn't be surprised if someone ends up sabotaging this place the way they treat people. One tip, anytime your car is towed don't give the shitty tow companies that satisfaction. ALWAYS pay with a credit card and then initiate a chargeback with your credit card company to get your money back. This will also cause the tow company to get charged a fee for the claw back and your credit card company will always side with their customer. Dont pay with cash or debit. read more

Could have been a worse experience considering the line of business being dealt with, but the demeanor of employees, location of the business and vehicle pick-up process after being towed all-in-all deserve approx 2.5 stars. They could definitely present themselves and the situation differently to those coming in already upset over being towed, but (in person) they generally weren't awful (but the lady on the phone when I called was rude as heck) and actually just doing their "jobs," so no reason to dock them due to my unhappiness. What I dont like is the under-the-table deals I keep hearing that they have with certain complexes/compounds to come and tow vehicles for them. This is the absolute worst towing company in California. They will tow your car on a Saturday night so whenyou pick it up the next day, you have to pay a $100 fee because they're technically "closed" on Sundays. The man I spkoe to on the phone, Marshall, told me he didn't care about my problems and that he won't explain all the fees to me because he doesn't care. My brother was towed two months ago with the same circumstances and only payed $150, but today I had to pay a total of $390. Marshall told me he didn't care and that he's not going to talk about the fees any longer. The whole call he was very rude with me. Parked Sunday night in Downtown Carlsbad on State Street at 7:45 pm where the businesses are closed, parking lot had a few cars in it. When I came back less than 1 hour later, the other car was still there but mine was towed. Predatory towing company. Had to pay after hours fee, storage fee for a total of $368 for less than an hour's parking. Western towing place is in a bad neighborhood, a dark deserted alley, the attendant was rude and honestly bring a strong guy with you as the place was dark, and you have to be brought into a locked area away from the street to get your car back. We walked across the street, and when we came back, her car was gone. We saw a Western towing truck in the lot and ran after it to try to ask the driver what happened and what to do. He stopped, but wouldn't roll down the window at first. He finally decided to crack the window just to hand me a card through the slot. Felt like I was arrested and going to prison. The is the way I was treated on the phone.... despicable. And at the faculty (they "close" at 5 PM on Friday -although I saw people working there until about 630), The man there did everything he could to not help me. I had to yet take another Uber back on Saturday morning with my 'rental agreement' to prove that it was my Rent-A-Car (although I could identify everything that was in the trunk ....showed him my credit card charge...reservation..) They do not reopen until Monday, unless you pay the "extra fee"... which of course many were doing because so many cars are towed over the weekend. What a racket. And again want to emphasize how rude the men are on the phone when you call frantically trying to figure out where your car went l......and how you can pick it up .......and they say they'll call you back and threaten you if you call back on your own after they haven't called back for 45 minutes. The woman who did help me on Saturday morning was actually very nice and said had she seen me there Friday evening she would've helped me out and would not have needed the rental agreement. This company seriously is the worst. I called and spoke with five different customer service reps -- four of which were very rude -- and ALL of them gave me different information. When I spoke with the 5th customer service rep, I was simply trying to understand the process of picking up my car and he was so rude, condescending, actually laughed at me over the phone as I was very clearly distraught. I explained that me having got different information from so many people was bullshit and his response was "well i wasn't there for those conversations so it's not my problem." seriously just awful. However, the guy who helped me get my car out at the Bosstick location, i think his name was Sean, was very kind and understanding. everyone else however, were real jerks. My car is being held hostage at the El Cajon facility of Rancho Del Oro towing company. They towed my car from a handicapped parking spot in a parking lot (my car has a handicapped license plate) on their own (the apartment management claims they have a contract with Rancho Del Oro for this) and cite "abandoned" and "warned' as reasons for towing. First, how can a car parked less than 2 days be considered abandoned when the law states that persons with handicap license plates may park for unlimited amounts of time, even in private lots where permits are required. Warned? I never received a letter nor spoke with anyone at the apartments regarding parking. They are in violation of the law. If they make it right for me quickly I will not press charges. So far I have not received help. Surely they must be aware that they will owe 4 times the amount of the towing and storage fees to me because they towed my car illegally. A towing company may not tow a vehicle upon their own discretion nor given permission to make towing decisions unless a car is parked blocking a fire hydrant, parked in a fire lane, or otherwise blocking traffic. The apartment manager told me she didn't know anything about my car since they have a contract with Rancho Del Oro towing...and she didn't know they had towed my car. From what I read in other reviews of Rancho Del Oro towing, it seems they frequently violate the laws. This is the most corrupt business I have ever seen. My car was parked in the condo area which requires a tag to park in. My vehicle had it on the rearview mirror. The vehicle was towed and when I got to the facility I checked the vehicle. On the passenger seat was the tag sitting face up. As I had parked the car the day before with my daughter in the front seat, the tag could not have been located there. I asked the person and they said "We have pictures". I asked if it was possible the driver opened the driver and then took the pictures. They became belligerent and refused to consider that it was a set-up. The lady who worked at the front desk at this particular location was patient and understanding which is the only thing that earned this company 2 stars... Unfortunately the two people I spoke with at the call center we're nightmares. I get that most people who call them are already irritated because they've had their cars towed, and probably just yell at them. However, I knew my car was towed from my apartment in Carlsbad by mistake (luckily I didn't have to get to work so the fact I didn't have my car was only a minor inconvenience). I was calm and polite and gave them a chance to own up to it and fix the issue. Honestly, I just wanted them to tow the car back to Carlsbad so I didn't have to get an Uber but they weren't going to do that. The first person (at the call center) I spoke with at the call center gaslit me, said my car was missing a parking permit and there is no way the tow truck driver would've towed it if I had a proper pass. I insisted the tow truck driver must have just missed it because of poor lighting in the middle of the night. Nope, not possible according to them, she was quick to add that my only option was to get down to the tow yard within the hour and pay $600 to bail my car out of car jail and if I felt I was wronged I could take them to court. I called and spoke with my complex about the issue and called Western Tow's call center back and got someone else. I explained the issue and how the management at my complex had requested pictures of my car because there were none attached to the tow report. The lady I spoke with said she was looking at the pics and there was no parking pass. I told her to look closer because the parking sticker had been on my front window under my oil change sticker for years. "Nope, not there" and was quick to tell me if I didn't pick up my car that night that I'd accrue an additional fee. Now when I asked how it worked when I proved I had a valid parking pass on the car she replied "well there's not, I'm telling you it's not, if you want the vehicle you'll need to pay the tow fee, storage fee and lean fee and if you think that you deserve reimbursement you're going to have to file and go to court because this is a civil issue." So frustrated, I payed $80 for an Uber to San Marcos during peek hours, get there and go figure, my parking pass was exactly where I said it was, stuck on my front window, under my oil change sticker, just like it had been for the past 3 years. Now this is where my appreciation for the woman ( I think her name started with a K) that managed the lot comes in. She was helpful, acknowledged that my parking pass was in fact where it should have been, she took pictures and contacted (what I assume was) corporate. Now from my end, it did sound like her own company was giving her a hard time, she had to explain to them multiple times that she saw the pass with her own eyes and if they'd just look at the pics she sent them they would too, yet they argued that the pass wasn't present in the photos the tow truck driver sent them, to which she replied "it actually was, you just have to zoom in". So exactly what I had been saying the whole time. In the end she had them reverse the charges and my car was released to me with no charge (other than the $80 Uber I had to pay). read more
