May be good with vacuums but not sewing machines. I took my Singer machine in for service for inconsistent stitching. It took longer than quoted to get it back. When it finally picked it up I had the same problem and returned the machine with an example of the stitching. He called and said it was threaded wrong (even though I didn't touch the threading after removing their sample piece). Left it again with the same result. Again was told it was threaded wrong even though I checked the threading before removing their sample zig zag sample piece. Again, the same botched stitching. I left my machine at a shop in Vallejo for repair. He refused to refund my original $99 charge. An expensive lesson for me. read more

Obviously this is not a Best Buy, it is going to take time if repair is what you need. We all need to support our small businesses as much as possible - now more than ever. The world does not revolve around just you, so before you give someone a bad rating, make sure it's not just you being impatient or too demanding. You can't expect one person to run a business and do good work by himself. If you do expect that, go somewhere else please. Went here to get a quote to fix our vacuum. Took FOREVER, over a month or more, to get a simple quote. We were told the quote to repair would be FREE, no charge. After several phone calls, they refused to give us a quote. In order to get that quote, they wanted to charge us. What???? You can't tell a customer one thing, then change your mind. Just went there today with 2 filters that I couldn't find any replacement to in Target. The guy is really nice and knew *exactly* what filter I needed. He also gave me a really reasonable price even though I knew that it should cost a lot more - I asked him about the low price (just to be honest...that's how low the cost was) and he just said "Don't worry about it" and mentioned that they're open 7 days a week and they've been there for several years so I can stop by anytime. I previously had a good experience with this shop, but this last visit left a lot to be desired. Raees, the owner, generally takes pride in his work, but this quality can backfire if there's not also a willingness to acknowledge less-than-perfect results. We drove a considerable distance and paid $60 to have our vacuum cleaner fixed as well as undergo some routine maintenance. The tuneup was done, the repair was not. The moment we brought the vacuum back home, it began emitting a burning smell again. Back to Concord we went for a replacement belt. Once again, there was an acrid odor when we turned it on later. Another trip to the store. Another failed attempt to get at the root of the problem. Three tries is frustrating enough, but what really sticks in my craw was Raess' insistence that we were at fault for the malfunction -- that we must be doing something wrong. (Yes, that must be it!) He never did fix the vacuum. My guess is that because he strives to do good work he gets upset when machines don't cooperate, but that's no excuse for his wrong-headed response. I was leaning towards purchasing the more expense, commercial grade vacuum. In fact, they recommended a less expensive vacuum (by several hundred dollars) based upon the size of our home, our floors and the frequency of our vacuuming. Carpet cleaner stopped working a year after the warranty expired. A quick phone call to this place put us in touch with the owner, who gave an upfront and reasonably priced diagnostic fee. A 20 minute drive north and this shop was found in the heart of Concord, with plenty of street parking nearby. After dropping the vacuum off, I received a prompt call from the owner the following day to discuss the issues. Much to my surprise, he steered me away from having the hose attachment repaired because, in his experience, they break often, and aren't very effective. He suggests I buy a smaller, more portable carpet cleaner for doing smaller areas and stairs. This is where it gets interesting -- he actually suggests I get it from Walmart, because he is out of stock, and tells me what I should expect to pay. So the carpet cleaner is repaired (minus the hose attachment per his suggestion) and I show up expecting to pay $100+. I meet his very respectful and helpful son (I'm assuming) and am told the charge is $39.99. Wow! Reasonable prices, prompt, honest service, family run business -- Worth the drive if you're within 30 minutes of Concord! Bravo! read more

The guy was so helpful and convinced me to get a new belt for better suction turns out the old belt snapped in half and needed to be replaced anyway. So I got a belt, grill filter(free) and cylinder filter all for $23. He showed me how to change the belt and I did it on my own at home no problem. I'm definitely a fan! PS. Don't waster your time in going to Pleasant Hill Vacuum. They gave me the wrong filter. I realized that after noticing it doesn't fit well. i brought my vacuum in for the 2nd time in 4 months to replace belt and fix latch for filter , that was being heels by tape . last ttime, the cost was 14 dollars, so he called me and told me it was done and they changed the filter, replaced the belt and cleaned it and the cost was 34.00. i said ii didn't need it cleaned, i just cleaned it and of course he argued with me about his labor charge. i went in to pick it up , yesterday, he was the rudest meanest person ,and talking down to me in front of my daughter. he didn't fix the clip and wasn't cleaned, and he didn't replace the filter. My nice Dyson V7 vacuum ate a small screw and needed slight repair. Took it to Western Vacuum. Huge mistake. Two days later they called and said pick it up-- could not repair it. They gave me a beat up relic and my wife and I went back to find our V7. I had personally replaced the factory battery with a Japanese battery and the relic had the original Dyson battery. Great place. Extremely helpful, very friendly. Took our old vac in to have it serviced and repaired. After a thorough evaluation and inspection it was determined that it needed to be replaced. Our choice not the service person. They evaluated our needs and made a recommendation based on that. I purchased a new machine and they had it assembled before I could get the car. I took my 2 year old "sick" Shark vacuum cleaner to the store and was immediately greeted by the owner with a warm smile and friendly welcome. I was impressed by how neat the store looked. I parked right in front of the store, and because I use a cane the owner offered to get my vacuum out of my car for me. The roller brushes had quit turning. He quickly saw what the problem was and told me he could fix it. He also showed me how dirty the filters were and recommended they be replaced, and I agreed. The very next day I received a call that my vacuum was fixed and ready to be picked up. Once again the owner took my vacuum and put it in my car for me. Bad customer service! Took my carpet cleaner in 2 times to get the same problem fixed and the owner blamed us for not reading the manual as to why he couldn't fix it. Does this make any sense? No of course not. To make matters worse instead of calling me and telling me he couldn't fix it, he kept the carpet cleaner for over six weeks. All in all very poor customer service. I came in to get a replacement belt for my Kenmore vacuum. Raees quickly identified the vacuum head fixes I would need to do to prevent belt blow-out. When my repairs didn't go as planned, Raees went out of his way to fix (and replace) parts needed to make my vacuum work. You DO NOT get this level of service at Sears. You DO NOT get this level of service at box stores. So, I WILL COME BACK and buy my vacuum bags here (at higher price then online) in order to support great, brick and mortar service. The owner really listened to my requests and concerns, I asked if I can upgrade my vacuum through Bissel and even check with them on that.
