Westerville dermatology is great. I'm surprised to see bad reviews, doctor G is super nice, staff is kind. Scheduling is tough, you need to be ready to wait to get in, but I find that's the same with any specialist. I've had a few minor surgeries here and all went well, healed great, and I felt safe in their care. If you need a dermatologist, this place is worth the drive from where you are. read more

We are here for the second BLU-U treatment and Johns not really looking forward to it! He will be inside and out of all the light. Once we leave here today, he will be hiding from all sunlight, computers, phone as well as TV for at least 4 days. When he is able to tolerate the light a little more, he will be able to begin the process of reintroducing light back into his world but in small amounts. We are hoping that this will be the last treatment for the pre- cancerous cells. We are always treated as valued patients when we come to see Dr. Lin. Her staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They can answer your questions or if not, they will have the answer before you leave! It's a place where you can get honest answers about serious issues. Rosa Lin, M.D. at Westerville Dermatology takes a proactive approach to the skin care of all of her patients regarding aesthetic treatments as well as precancerous and cancerous skin issues. She is very earnest in her ongoing effort required to detect and treat suspicious areas of the skin of her patients. Dr. Lin has diligently taken care of my wife and me regarding scheduled full body examinations of both of us for several years. When we first saw her, she explained that the skin is the largest organ of the human body and most of her patients, when young and carefree, all to often subjected themselves to the dangerous and damaging infrared rays of repeated sunburns and/or tanning beds. When younger, I really didn't feel much need to put sunscreen on and if I did, I certainly didn't feel it was necessary to reapply it for any reason. As a result and because I had blond hair, blue eyes, and fair complexion, I just anticipated that I would burn each and every year (often it was many times in a year) I would have to put up with the pain of the burn, and spray whatever I could find to help ease the pain. I am certain that many others have experienced this same summer ritual, although I used to envy, albeit abhor, those who were dark-complected with dark hair and who all summer displayed their tanned, bronze skin to all of us who suffered through our stupid attempts to tan. Because my wife has a history of melanoma and squamous cell carcinomas Dr. Lin performs a full-body scan every six months as a precautionary protocol to evaluate any suspicious areas throughout her body. Although I am also under her blanket of care, the treatment plan for me is different; annual full-body exams. However, to this date, Dr. Lin removed a large cyst from my chest, and excised some other precancerous lesions. (I am comfortable watching blood spurting from most anyone, including my wife, but, when it happens to me, it's a completely different story). After the removal of the ping pong ball size cyst from my chest, I made the mistake of asking if I could see it and Dr. Lin graciously showed it to me . . . as a result of that experience, I ended up "staying for breakfast." In other words, I passed out, was revived and given some juice and crackers to restore my blood sugar levels. Other incisions she's performed on me have been less traumatic. Then, during my last examination Dr. Lin discovered that I had cancerous and precancerous lesions around my face, neck, and scalp. Her proposed treatment was to FREEZE a couple of areas with liquid nitrogen. But, for the rest of the areas, she discussed a new protocol called Blu-U. This relatively new treatment uses a Photodynamic protocol. After preparing for this treatment with nightly applications of Retin-A for one week, my skin became more light sensitive during this time and I had to try to reduce exposure to the sun and bright lights. I was moved to the Blu-U patient room where Levulan Kerastick was applied to my face. I sat there for 1 hour and then put in front of the special Blu-U light for 14 minutes. During which time, even while holding a cold air hose to my face at this time, I felt like was on fire! After I left the office, I went into "Spy Mode." This is what I call a period of time when I'm undercover; (literally) under a light blanket and hat in the car going home, then I go under the covers in the bedroom to avoid any intense light sources; blackout drapes for the windows. Each post session resulted in the same intense burning of my face for a period of time; lasting about 8 days. However, the recommended Blu-U treatment seems to be very effective. Dr. Karikomi has been dermatologist for more than 15 years. His entire staff is extremely efficient, courteous and professional. His waiting room is comfortable and spacious with free coffee and TV. His examination rooms are excellent. Dr. K keeps to his schedule and wait time has never been an issue. Frankly the in office procedure was a bit more serious than I expected. The after care instructions were vague. No scheduled follow up wound care. No antibiotics prescribed . I had to schedule my own wound check after a few days of concern with open wound. After wound check visit they acknowledged that wound was infected and provided me with half a sample pack of antibiotics. No follow up phone calls to check on condition of wound. I may have to visit another medical facility to have wound properly cared for. read more

Horrible! Dr. Lin cut into me for a basal cell that was only there less then a year. For 15 minutes or less of her time, my insurance company pd her over $800, than she charged me $1300. I was not told I would have a 4-5 inch scar. I had a Mammogram & breast biopsy for over 1 1/2 hrs at the James. Seeing multiple nurses & then the Dr. Total bill $800 for myself & $800 insurance company. At the James they shared every step they were going to do BEFORE it was done. This place is the bees' knees as far as dermatology offices are concerned. The front desk staff were so courteous, both on the phone and in person, and promptly got me in to see Dr. Grosshandler. The intake nurse, Nelly, was equal parts polite and thorough. Dr. Grosshandler was professional, informative, and also thorough in his explanations of my diagnosis as well as the treatment options and plan of care. I would give them a full 5 stars but I just wasn't impressed with the local prescription company they recommend filling scripts with. It's been two days since my appt and I've yet to be able to fill my script due to difficulties with this company and their poor customer service - I wish they would've just sent the script to my preferred pharmacy instead. read more

Had 4 visits for warts, all cryotherapy. Went in on a 5th time asking for laser removal. I called ahead and said that I was not interested in any other treatments, only laser and they said okay. At the appointment, after 10 minutes of back and forth, they flat out told me no, but were very insistent that I pursue all of the other options that require 5-6 follow ups. I wish I knew about Aderma Skin Care Center sooner. The staff is wonderful, scheduling is always easy and convenient for me and this practice hands-down has the best value in Columbus. Bonnie K. is awesome! She is the esthetician I see at Aderma. She is always incredibly pleasant, punctual, and gives honest and high-quality skincare. My favorite aspect about having her as a skin care provider is that she does extractions for free within a week following one of her services. I usually cannot make use of this offer because of my work schedule, but I doubt you can find this offer at any other practice in the city. Aderma has a lot of specials. I have been a patient here for years and paid hundreds out of pocket years ago for laser treatments yet, they refused to schedule me and see me once my insurance changed. Quite sad especially since, I work across the street running my own skincare business and send my patients to them for referrals or for Obagi products when I don't have any available for my patients. I am all about building beneficial working relationships not destroying them. I even received call from their office girl that I am no longer allowed to mention their practice in any of my posts and they refused to work with me or see me as a patient. It has been so heartbreaking for me to be treated so cruelly and sadly, it was once a motivating factor as to why I obtained my advanced esthetician license to compliment all my nursing background in skincare and wound care. I once admired and respected this practice only to have them refuse to see me years later and inform me to never mention their business. I would never treat any of my past patients as this business has treated their previous patient and do what I do because of my passion and love for skincare. I am very hurt and saddened by their refusal to see me or work with me and makes no sense that I have to locate another dermatologist now willing to see me as a patient when I refer so many of my patients to this practice and work just across the street. I've been a patient for 20 years. I love the Aderma Spa and this rating is not reflective of the Doctors or the esthetician. HOWEVER, (and at the risk of sounding like a "Karen,") my experience with the front office staff and particularly with the "Office Manager," were inappropriate and offensive at best. The Office Manager's behavior and my experience today is inconsistent and contradictory to the Practice's Mission Statement and Core Values listed on their web site. I'm not sure the Office manager is equipped or qualified to implement the core values of the practice based on the experience I just had. Highlights include: 1. I drove from Grandview to Westerville for an appointment I scheduled on December 2019 in person at the office. 2. I received an automated confirmation call for my appointment. 3. I arrived for may appointment and after checking in, learned they had cancelled my appointment because their 2020 policy dictates a $200 deposit. I don't know what that was for, as of writing this. 4. Nevertheless, I was confused and frustrated after taking time off work and driving to Westerville. They insisted they called and left multiple Voicemails. 5. I asked for an Office Manager. She came out of the gate insisting I was wrong, it's my fault for not getting the voicemails. I looked through my phone and realized I had missed a voicemail from 1/14/20 and informed I only had one voicemail. 6. I asked if the Doctor would still see me. She checked and said no. She said I can reschedule if I wanted to. 7. HERE'S where it gets weird: I acknowledged that I missed the VM, but that as of late last week, I got an automated call confirming my appointment. I also started to tell her that the VM I received (which I still have), indicates: When I scheduled my appointment, they failed to collect $200. Due to a new policy effective 2020, they have to collect $200 or I will have to reschedule. The is no mention of Cancelling my appointment and I still don't know why I needed to pre-pay, if I was going to pay in full on the day of my appointment. The VM states it was their miss in 2019. 8. The "office manager" stood up, pointed her finger at me and said "we are done talking. If you don't leave, I will call the police." It was strange, as I didn't use and profanity, raise my voice to her or threaten her. I was the patient on the receiving end of a major process flaw/breakdown. I'm 5'5 and weigh 110 lbs. I really don't think her response was warranted, appropriate, professional or helpful. 9. I stopped on the way out an apologized to the receptionist for the confusion and the fact I expressed my frustration. The "Office Manager" ran over and rudely interrupted and said, "You have to leave." She literally chased me out of the building. The poor receptionist had to inform her I was apologizing. It was absolutely bizarre. I realize (and acknowledged during our conversation) there were mistakes on both ends, however the unnecessary escalation by the office manager to a 20+ year patient over a policy change incorrectly implemented seems extreme. There were numerous opportunities for her to provide service recovery, but her unwillingness to even rationally discuss the situation or potential remedies, demonstrates a severe lack of courtesy, kindness, respect, and flexibility the practice strives to provide (as per their web site). read more

I needed to have a mole removed and was able to get an appt promptly with Dr. G who I had not seen before. He was very professional and answered all my questions thoroughly and removed the mole. It was the quickest and most painless of such procedures I've ever had done. My appt was on time so no waiting at all. Office staff were all pleasant and professional. When I was young, I took my son who had terrible acne and several dysplastic nevi. She treated him as if he was her son. I thought that was a relationship worth keeping. But-I don't feel she cared for me, and that was okay. Personalities clash. I knew that she was a great doctor. Recently, I started having unusual issues with my skin. I visited her. She remembered me well. I suppose I felt that she did not feel those same kind feelings for me, as she said that my skin had aged and was very dry. She didn't feel that any testing was necessary My skin got worse, open sores, etc. I went to another doc, and was told that I had suspicious spots all over my body. I had several biopsies, that I am waiting for results. But two biopsies came back sooner. I had both removed with stitches. One of them was on my backside and infected. Squamous cell carcinomas. At sixty six, maybe she should have had me at least scanned? read more

I had a diagnostic procedure done there and I suppose to have a follow up treatment. I called to schedule a procedure and I have being told that my insurance has to approve it and that I will be called back in maximum 4 weeks. I did not receive any call back for 6 weeks. I called them again to find out that not just they did not call the insurance but they do not know anything about my situation and my doctor needs to be called, what is my phone number, then mistakes happen, they will call insurance...and so on. It does not make any sens to me. First, way a diagnostic test if there is no interest to follow up whit a treatment; second, what are personal charts for: why do not assume that the patient has a trace of intelligence and treated accordingly? read more

I would not recommend this place. Staff is extremely rude and not polite at all. It seems like no one here actually cares about the patients feelings and they are just drones firing off questions that they don't really care about. It seems like you are just a walking money bag and they are trying to do the bare minimum to get you in and out. If I call to make an appointment I have to talk to about 3 different people every time. They do not make you feel comfortable and each time I come, I feel more like a burden to them than a patient. I have gone to this office for several years now, and was satisfied with the care I received. The treatment I received from the office staff, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I will speak about today's occurrence. I had an appointment this morning, for which I received a robo call a few days prior. I assumed it was for a full body skin check, which I schedule a year in advance. Despite it not being on my calendar, I thought nothing of it because a year goes by between these appointments. When I arrived at the office, I asked the receptionist the nature of the appointment, and she told me it was for a suture removal. I told her that I didn't have sutures, and she said that they must have 'goofed'. Since I made the trip for what I thought was a full body scan, I asked if I could just have that procedure since I had a scheduled appointment. She said, "Oh no...Dr. Lin has her full body checks scheduling months out." I then decided I would just reschedule and make an appointment for the check, and after going back and forth about times and dates that would or wouldn't work, I just told her I would call later. It didn't matter that I had an appointment time (albeit for another procedure, but still, some time) and she didn't want to work with me at all to reschedule. She was flustered, slamming files and papers around, It was so uncomfortable. I've since decided to find another dermatologist, who was able to get me in next week. I had tattoo removal done here. It did nothing. Absolutely nothing. All I got from it was an ugly bruise. Not to mention sitting around for an hour before the treatment for my "numbing cream" to kick in. It didn't. What a waste of money. read more

Scheduled an appointment for a cosmetic service with Dr. Lin because scheduling with my current dermatologist (who is wonderful) is difficult and because I heard great things about Aderma Medical Spa, which I thought would be a place I may be interested in spending some time and money. First impression was great- short wait time, polite staff. Then the doctor came in- oh my. She started off by telling me that everyone does this service differently. Then she calculated the cost, which was nearly DOUBLE what I pay for excellent results at Dermatology Associates. She then told me that everyone does it the same, rudely questioning when I told her the difference in cost was not acceptable. Poor "bedside manor" aside, contradicting oneself within 30 seconds means I cannot trust you as a physician to guide my health decisions. I walked out of that office and immediately made an appointment with my trusted physician at Dermatology Associates. Aderma may be great- but I would definitely NOT recommend Dr. Lin. She is rude, overpriced for this market, and lacks credibility. read more

I just had a 2nd Infini face and neck treatment at Westerville Dermatology with Dr. G who is one of the nicest doctors I've met. I'm writing this to describe to people the pain level since I couldn't find much on the internet. The first time, I didn't take Vicodin before the laser treatment. Your face and neck are numbed with a topical cream. For the first appointment, I did take 2 Kroger brand Acetaminophen 500 mg each before I left the house. The treatment involves short bursts of laser which feels like a rubber band on steroids. The area hit circumferences the size of a large pea. Dr. G goes over your face and neck (if you choose to have your neck done) 3 times. It only hurts at that moment just as if someone were to smack you with a yardstick. I tolerated the pain and was not in pain afterward. He told me I could go outdoors the next day as long as I wore the SPF they provided in my packet. I decided I'd try the Vicodin for the 2nd treatment. The pain was decreased on my forehead about a third, but seemed more intense on my face. As before, I didn't experience much pain on my neck. It is now 2 days later and I have more redness, puffiness, small welts, and dryness than the first time. You are given a packet of lotions and tinted SFP. The tinted SPF works to hide the blotchiness perfectly for me. I used it like makeup and put Cover Girl Ready Set Gorgeous powder on top after about 2 weeks. Previously, I've been able to use Cover Girl Ready Set Gorgeous concealer and the powder without makeup underneath to mask the redness caused by Rosacea. However, their SPF product is difficult to get off since you can't use a washcloth until you're healed about 2 weeks. However, West Derm did approve a Kroger brand makeup remover "Remove" in a purple package. Dr. G's office said this was okay for me use the next day after treatment. I didn't have to go anywhere so I've been able to avoid using the tinted SPF by keeping the curtains drawn. So I don't know how well the "Remove" works. With the Infini laser, I have experienced an improvement of wrinkles, acne scars, dark spots and visible veins on my face and possibly the Rosacea. As an aside, another tip for Rosacea is to avoid all processed sugar, pasta, rice and the like. Hope this helps. read more
