Wheaton mall is the closest fairly big mall to where I live, they have a decent food court, some big stores and brands like Costco, j. Penny, Macy, target and many more. Depends where you have entered entered from the parking sometimes can be challenging. If you're looking to hangout somewhere and have fun this is not the place but if you're shopping you'll definitely find something. read more

I shouldn't go to a mall and expect panhandlers approaching me and asking for money when I'm in the food court. With no security around in sight. Especially when you're with special needs students on a school trip to teach them some life skills. I emailed Westfield Corp. and Westfield Wheaton on urging them to improve their security measures. I haven't receive a response. If promptly addressing security issues isn't one of your priorities, then I have no reason to go to your mall. Wheaton is the armpit of Montgomery County. Wheaton Plaza is dirty, disorganized and loud. Very unpleasant. Much like Lakeforerst Mall. They both are like visiting third world countries, but instead of goats running around their are plenty y of untidy and unruly children. Therefore so if you decide to go please get your shots beforehand, bring plenty of Clorox Wipes, hand sanitizer and for goodness sake, don't drink the water. read more

There are so many better malls in the area than this one. Seriously. Fair Oaks. Tysons Corner. Tysons Galleria. The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. Montgomery Mall. Chevy Chase Pavilion. Heck, even Union Station, White Flint, and Potomac Mills will offer better shopping experiences than Wheaton Plaza. They DO have a Missha store. Missha is an affordable Korean beauty and bath line that's slowly making a presence in the United States. No other stores caught my attention. www.missha.net Sarku Japan in the food court has two affordable vegetarian entrees, one is the Vegetarian D'Lite (with rice) and the other one was the Vegetarian Soba. Both are less than $4! Oddly enough, Green Leaf Grille, which seemed veggie-friendly, did not. Wheaton Plaza is really sad, but not as depressing as Springfield Mall, but close. It's a "cool" place for teenagers to hang out, but for serious shoppers (I exclude loyalists of Forever 21 and DEB) shouldn't bother coming here. read more

Simon Malls keeps all of their malls in great condition! There are more than enough stores to choose from for most of your shopping needs. They have most of the basic clothing stores, plenty of mobile phone stores and kiosks, a large food court with a few new stores, and of course classics like Spencer Gifts and Hot Topic. For those into sports, they also have a Dick's Sporting Goods. read more

Apparently this mall was pretty bad in the past, but I thought it was surprisingly nice. Many older reviews mentioned safety concerns, but I felt 100% comfortable both in the parking lot (at night) and throughout the mall. The mall looks like it was totally renovated in the past couple of years, so everything was pretty shiny and new. Wheaton has a large Hispanic population, so there are many stores that seem to cater to the local demographic, but there's also most of the usual national chain stores you'd expect to see in a mid-level mall. There's a large Target, Costco, and a remodeled JC Penney with a great homeware department. I live in the District so there's no way I would make a trip out of my way to shop here, but if you're in the area, this doesn't seem to be a half-bad mall. read more

But to go to one of the biggest shopping mall with all the stores you need and a few big store like Macy's, JC Penney, Target & Dick's Sports Goods and also Costco and Stop&Shop for your convenience. Clothes & food shopping together. What more can your asked for..... After a day of shopping, time to fill up my tummy... Off to the food court I go with my family tagging along. Quite a lot to choose from. We decided on Famous Rotisserie & Grill after sampling their samples. It's a fill the container and pay one price. So you can actually stuff up the container. I notice they keep on refilling the varieties of chicken, vegetables , plantains, Mac & cheese, noodle, rice ( white & yellow) and potatoes. There are also salad & cheesecake for dessert. We filled in two boxes for four .... , that's cost effective. The orange spicy chicken tasted good as well as the BBQ ribs. Will come back for more if I shop here again. read more

Wheaton Mall has vastly improved in the last few years especially since many of the older reviews were written. Mind you, that Wheaton Mall is nowhere near the best or nicest mall in the DMV area but does the job for a decent place to shop for everyday essentials. In the past few years this mall has added a two-story H & M, an Elevation Burger, Panera, a DSW and a Dicks Sporting Goods. A Teavana and Costco are opening soon. As far as safety, I've never felt threatened or unsafe here. Yes, you'll find a more diverse crowd that you would at Tysons or Montgomery but frankly I'm more afraid of being bowled by obnoxious housewives with bad facelifts in Friendship Heights or Tysons Galleria than the people at Wheaton Mall. read more

So, I worked at Hollister in Wheaton Mall for a total of about two and a half years of my life. Whenever I told people I worked at Wheaton they'd get this horrified look on their face and would ask timidly "...aren't you...scared?" I live in Silver Spring and I don't drive so I took the train back and forth in the early morning for floor sets and late at night after closing shift and sometimes I'd get a bit sketched out, but I can honestly say I've never personally had any incidents around the area or in the mall where I've actually felt threatened or unsafe, though I know of a few people who have. In terms of the stores, Wheaton is a little blah compared to places like Montgomery. They don't have as big of a selection and the stores reflect the differences in income of area residents as opposed to the ones in Bethesda. In other words: if you're looking for Max Azria, Nordstrom or J. Crew, go to Montgomery. If you're a broke college student/teen/young adult who still shops at Forever 21, PacSun and Hollister like me, Wheaton is just fine. Pop's Tattoo and Piercing just opened up on the 2nd floor (they used to be elsewhere.) I went in and got my nose pierced there and my piercer was super nice and did an awesome job. If you're looking to do a piercing, I definitely recommend. read more

I came here for Target but ended up walking through the mall and getting my eyebrows threaded at a Brow Art 23 kiosk. The Mall itself is ok. You won't find any of the higher end department stores like Nordstrom or Lord & Taylor but you will practical staples like Costco, JC Penny and Target' with its intriguing cart escalator. Really the thing is actually kinda neat to witness...I felt a little dorky at first having stopped to check it out but then I noticed a few other enamored folks and didn't feel as dorky. Just a smidge. There's a H&M, Charlotte Russe, NY & Co etc etc...it doesn't seem to be a hectic hodge podge of people left and right so that made it easier to get from store to store. As for the Target...well others have covered it very well in its own separate review. I will say that when I went it seemed to be very well stocked and neat. Lastly, a warning - don't go to the brow 23 art booth. The threader snapped 3 strings while trying to do my eyebrows...something that's NEVER happened to me before. This is my least favorite mall in the area. But despite its limited stores, and sketchiness (based on its history), this mall is good for the fact that it isn't too overwhelming like other malls. It doesn't seem as as busy here, and seem to have lots in stock. The only perk is I really like their Forever 21 here (as compared to the two-level Forever 21 at Montgomery Mall). I found so many things there yesterday because everything just felt more organized, and it wasn't overwhelming. The New York and Company was good too. There is also a Macy's, JCPenney, and Target, and a small DSW. Seems more targeted for women's clothing. Good chinese food at PJs Bistro. read more

I love this mall...but I had a bad experience today. My wife and I arrived at the Food Court at 6:57pm on Sunday. We got Subway sandwiches and sat down. Immediately afterwards, the cleaning staff started to move chairs and tables making squeaky loud sounds. They were mopping the floor, and we were eating in the dust. Gross. One lady tried to take the chair across my table, which I said not to because my wife was about to sit there. Why would anyone start cleaning from 7pm if the restaurants are open until 7pm? At least give us 10 min to eat. There were two groups of people eating close to us. We kind of looked at each other, amazed how the staff completely ignored that we were indeed eating. We started talking to each other saying how ridiculous this is. We stood and moved to the other end of the food court. It is a little amazing how oblivious the staff seemed to be. read more

I've been in this mall before but never took the time to share my opinion of it. It's a little confusing and seems a little run down honestly. The food court is sub-par, the security lackluster, and the stores were all super disorganized. My main goal was to get in and get out and there wasn't really anything here that kept me from doing otherwise. Some stores/kiosks were closed even though they were suppose to be open, hours via their site and some weren't there any longer. Also for some reason some old maps were still up and that added to the confusion. I pray I don't have to return anytime soon. read more

It has a Guess and a DSW which I like. I like the food court as well. Macy's. Other than that it's just those nameless mom and pop stores. It has a better interior design than LakeForest however I like LakeForest's selection better . Wheaton's design is better because Westfield owns it I think. Montgomery Mall has a much better selection, of course, but if you don't want to spend a fortune on designer clothes, come to Wheaton. It is not the safest mall however. If I had to sum up this mall in one word, it would be "eclectic". There is a range of stores to serve a wide range of needs, from Macy's to Target to Penney's to a dollar store, restaurants from Ruby Tuesday to Hollywood East (Chinese with some ethnic specialties and dim sum) and Lumpia, Pansit, Atbp (Philippino), a train ride, and a Proactive vending machine. Mall itself is clean and easy to navigate. I go to this mall for particular stores but I wouldn't plan to spend my day here or plan a big shopping spree as there are limited stores I enjoy. The Westfield Wheaton Mall offers a strong mix of anchor stores, shopping, and food options. Highlights of the anchor stores include Target, Costco, and JC Penney. The food court is clean and expansive with options ranging from fast food to fast casual. Additionally, there is a smattering of mall dining options throughout (Panera, Cinnabon, Auntie Anne's, etc.). Non-anchor shopping is okay. There's a good mix of shoes and some clothing. However, you're not going to find much high-end retail or any sort of outlets (just be aware). I am very happy a Westfield mall is so close to where I live. This mall literally has everything you need. Any mall that has a Costco and a wine and beer store is alright with me. The only cons is that it's always crowded but its probably because the mall is popular. Also the there isn't a Costco has station which is a bummer. Sometimes it's hard to find parking so I recommended the property managers build more parking structures. Another plus about the mall is it proximity to Giants grocery store. This mall is out in Wheaton and is definitely the only decent mall silver spring has. That being said it does also give off a certain sketch aura. It didn't help that a few years ago a woman was kidnapped from this mall during the daytime! There are some positives which include it's assortment of stores, including target. I also like that the people who shop at this mall seem a lot less snobby which is the opposite of what you will find at the Montgomery mall or Tyson's. read more

I visit this mall at least once a week, usually for the Target, Costco, the food court, and occasionally some smaller stores like fye. It has a past reputation for being unsafe, but I've never had a problem here. It seems to target young adults and families with young kids - lots of clothing stores for children, teens and early 20s. A ton of shoe stores. The Costco is a great addition that really boosts the value of this mall. The Dick's is also extensive and well-stocked...wish I needed more sporting goods. I like the food court in particular - currently, there is a KPS (a plant-based pizza and sub shop), a kabob place, a Mediterranean place, isushi, plus the standard McD's, Taco Bell, etc. There are tons of families and kids in the mall - in the food court, around the play area on the first floor, etc - don't come if you can't stand kids. read more

I have gone to this mall for a very long time. This mall is improving from the horrible Y2K era. The JC Penny's needs major improvement. The mall is small enough to maneuver. It doesn't have the high end stores like Ann Taylor, Coach, Nordstroms, etc., but the stores they have are more everyday stores. When I use to visit this mall back in the day, it was not a family friendly mall. It was borderline scary. Now, this place is much more family friendly, at least during the day. I've not visited this mall after 6pm. If I could have one wish, it would be Hybrid parking spaces. Many of the malls have put these in and is why I go to their malls during the holidays. read more

Its an ok mall, but there are better options around the area like arundell mill mall or columbia. Also is and they dont clean their areas often. The selection of stores is not bad.But like I say the drive to other malls is more apealing that to stay in this mall. When they open Costco i will have to go there without a doubt, cus i really love Costco. They also have DSW witch is a plus, but also Montgomery mall has a DSW close by. Movie Theater sucks, and their food court is one of the worst I've ever eaten at. They did improve i have to say, and it was a big nice change. But sometimes the area makes you feel a little uneasy and unsafe. Regardles when there is a need of something fast and close is the best bet. read more

Lost track of a package w newly purchased make-up and one of my kids' dolls. Realized about an hour later we' d left it near the kiddie rides outside Target. I am so disappointed at the treatment I got tonight. I went to the midnight release at GameStop. I parked as usual out front of target parking lot near the Costco. After getting my item I left and the doors were locked. I asked the security guard if he could unlock it. He told me it was open I just had to push the doors. I told him I did and he told me to try again. So I walked back and tried again and it's locked. I tell the security guard and ask him to unlock it and he says "nope, walk around". So here is a female in a dark parking lot where construction is going on and I am made to walk around the whole building in the dark. Great staff you have (sarcasm).
