Located in the…read moreparking lot across from Jack's Donuts, Saxony Market is smaller than the Farmer's Market in downtown Fishers, but it was a lot of unique offerings packed into the small area. That being said, I never felt cramped or claustrophobic, even when surrounded by all the booths and food trucks. There's picnic tables and a field to relax and enjoy a snack, and there's a playground behind the market for the kids to blow off some steam. Every step of your Farmers Market journey is accompanied by live music, performed by a very talented duo. Everyone manning the booths were extremely polite and welcoming, and I made sure to try every free sample I was offered! We got some strawberry bread (an Amish Friendship Bread with strawberry purée and vanilla pudding) from the Amish County Dairy, and I also sampled the blueberry milk. (I know, it sounds weird, but it was delicious!) We were tempted to buy some fresh produce, but unfortunately I went food shopping earlier today and I didn't need to buy any more fruit! The Fishers Parks Department was advertising upcoming events in our area (Monsoon Madness is Saturday, July 22!) and offering free ice cream sandwiches!!! That's right. ICE CREAM SANDWICHES. For FREE!! What could be better than that? I cannot wait to come back to the Saxony Market!

This particular market is tiny and has a very small offering. It'll take you ten mins to walk thru and see all the booths. There were only a couple of farmers with a small sampling of produce. Nothing incredibly inviting, honestly. We enjoyed some cotton candy, a Kona ice, and sampled some MLM products. There's a nice playground where the kiddos seem to be having a ball. The…read moreBinford Farmers Market on Saturday mornings has about forty local vendors with an even mix of produce and crafts. The market is slower paced and easier to maneuver than some of the bigger markets. Prices are reasonable. Lines of patient shoppers form at the popular vendors. I bought fruit, vegetables and some baked goods. Many of the vendors are from local farms outside the city. I was less enamored by the crafts. I did see some nice pottery. A live folk band was playing during our visit. Covered seating is available to sit and enjoy the morning. Even a dog water bowl is out. Carts are available to help you carry your haul to the car. They've thought of everything to make the visit enjoyable. The market is held in a church parking lot. Parking is easy in and out with traffic moving in one direction. Accessible spaces were available. This is a great little market to support local producers.

I usually sleep in on Saturdays, but there's something special about getting up early and discovering experiences like this. I'm so glad I did. The day started out gloomy with cloudy skies and off and on rain, but it cleared up just in time for me to enjoy the market. I took a stroll through the vendors to see everything they had to offer. The fresh corn stand was especially popular, and I loved the flower vendor where you could create your own bouquet, which was also popular! There were several tea vendors offering samples, and I really enjoyed the green tea, bourbon peach tea, and a refreshing hibiscus watermelon drink, they were all delicious. While this isn't a huge farmers market, there was still a great variety of vendors selling fresh produce, popcorn, mushrooms, Salamat Cookies, and even Filipino barbecue. The owners at the barbecue stand were incredibly friendly. There was also live music, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. Parking was available both on site and on the surrounding streets. It did get busy, but I was still able to find a spot nearby without much trouble. Illumine Coffee had its coffee truck there serving both hot and iced drinks, which was a nice addition. I had a wonderful time walking around, supporting local vendors, and soaking in the atmosphere. I'd definitely love to come back!

A musician played guitar and sang in the center. There was a little seating here and there. We arrived early and found plenty of parking and it was easy to move around with few lines. (There's always a line for corn.) Vendors were friendly. I even ran into an old friend and we chatted. The market is a good place to connect with people and enjoy beautiful downtown Zionsville. The prices are high, way higher than the grocery store. But after gardening, I get how much work goes into getting a crop of anything. I picked up some peppers and a pie. Yum.

I anticipated being the only person walking around the market while all the vendors stared at me, but no. Lots of shoppers, lots of produce and bread and tea and honey and sweets and meats and goods, and lots of samples. What I love about farmers markets in general (and this one specifically) is that each person selling their goods is super excited to tell you all about them, how they made them or grew them, what to eat them with or how to use them. On this visit, I bought some tea from the Tarkington Tea booth, a boule of French bread from The Bearded Baker, honey sticks from Dragonwood Honey & Maple and a dried cow hoof for my doggie from Becker Farms. I was eyeing the pea shoots at another stall, but I'll have to come back and buy those another time -- the guy was busy and had a line of customers. This indoor farmers market is located at Roy G. Holland Park, in the community center just off the parking lot. It's nice and warm inside, so don't let the cold temps of winter deter you from visiting the farmers market!

Everyone is friendly and helpful, most take credit cards, some with limits but because they are small businesses I try to use cash. They moved from the big baseball park to a smaller, slightly harder to find park in a neighborhood. The parking lot isn't as big but the building seems about the same. Because it's inside you don't get any issues with weather but because it's inside you also get a concentration of voices and smells that have nowhere to go. It can get a little loud inside. There isn't a hot breakfast option so don't plan on eating here like you can during the summer. If you're looking for fresh delicious produce this is a good market, if you also go to the summer one for entertainment, this is not the same as that market.

It's a lovely market. It's very simple the layout basically one big circle. I wish I could find the name of the lady that had a table FULL of vases of flowers. They were stunning!!! Had to buy my dad a Hoosiers mug. They had Pacers, Purdue, I U mugs. They had other neat pieces of pottery too. They had so many different small businesses there.
