On the phone, our mechanic is honestly explaining to a customer that investing money into the repair is not a good mechanical choice. Better that he seek out another vehicle to purchase. Isn't this the type of mechanic one needs to have, instead of not saying anything? Other mechanics would just take the money, do the repair, and the customer would end up paying in the future for additional costly repairs. We're sticking with these mechanics. Thank you for having honesty and integrity. (5 months ago) They have been great in the past 2 years. They have been honest with us on what is necessary for repairs, personable, and have gone out of their way to help us. I would recommend this establishment.

Shop said to try it out over weekend and bring back if any issues. Pay on Monday if no issues. Had same initial problem 10 min after leaving shop. Took back Friday night. Left over weekend. They are a very trustworthy shop. Will not take my cars to any other shop.

Instead of just checking the battery first thing, I guess they spent a lot of time "diagnosing" the problem and then advised that it needed a new battery, so they did that; most expensive battery replacement I've ever had. Then they advised me that there was a problem with air suspension system and should they look at that. Even though I had already been hit hard by battery replacement, I thought as long as it was in shop, go ahead. THEY DID NOT ADVISE ME THAT THEY HAVE LIMITED EQUIPMENT FOR AN ACTUAL FIX ON A RANGE ROVER AIR SUSPENSION, but went ahead and did the diagnostics on that anyway. The end result was that they determined they COULD'NT ACTUALLY FIX THE SUSPENSION PROBLEM DUE TO NOT HAVING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT"!!!, but charged me yet more for that, so basically, I spent a whopping $557.33 for what turned out to be a simple battery replacement!!! I ended up taking it to P&M Automotive, where I was treated right and they fixed the issue for a fair price. I AM AN ELDERLY WOMAN (already a bad combination to take a car in for repair) AND I WOULD CAUTION ANYONE THINKING THAT HAROLD'S QUALITY AUTO WILL BE FAIR, ETHICAL, AND HONEST WITH YOU, THINK AGAIN, BECAUSE THAT DEFINITELY WAS NOT MY EXPERIENCE THERE.

I got better service than I've ever received anywhere! I had gotten stuck over night in Salem due to car issues and had found him in Yelp the next morning. I did have to call many times, but Doc is a husband and wife operation, so they are busy. However, he called me back and fit me into his schedule, problem solved my bent hood and pushed-in front of my car, and gave me super helpful advice on topping the oil in my very old car. My dad had followed me out to Doc's garage because I wasn't sure my car would make it, and we listened to what Doc was telling me. Dad said I had received such great service and was fortunate to have such an experienced mechanic take the time to explain what was going on with my car. I'm a little embarrassed to say, I didn't know that many old cars need to be topped with oil between the 3,000 miles mark. That explained the sound my car was making and how it felt driving. Though I was embarrassed, I never felt talked down to by Doc. (Ladies, take your car here!) The other problem with my car was that I had gotten into a fender bender on my way to Salem and was unable to unlatch my hood. We left Doc's for an hour and came back after receiving his call. Doc had somehow managed to smooth the hood and get it to unlatch and latch again. This was amazing because the problem wasn't just with my hood, but with the whole front of my car. It had been pushed in 3 or more inches pinching the radiator. What Doc charged for his work was so reasonable, I was dismayed. I would drive from Portland to Keizer to have Doc work on my car. He was great.

I was able to take my car in, in the morning, and have it done in a few hours. My daughter recently needed brakes on her VW Rabbit, and I took her car to Doc Brown's and had her brakes replaced. Again, the brakes were done quickly, and at a very reasonable price. If you're looking for an honest, dependable, and knowledgeable auto tech, this is the place to go. Just be aware that this isn't like a regular garage or dealer's waiting room. There's nowhere to sit and wait for your car, so you'll have to have someone pick you up and then take you back for your car when it's finished. But I'll take a little inconvenience for good, competent work and price anytime.

It was a sunny afternoon, and my two dogs had been in the car with me, running errands. The staff was sensitive to the situation and the manager checked their Lancaster store for a replacement tire, in case the puncture was too big. This showed great time-management! I have put this Firestone store into my smartphone, will return for non-emergency car care, and I highly recommend.

I took my car in for the service, which takes about an hour and a half. At an hour and twenty minutes, they asked if I wanted new tires. Honestly, if they'd made the suggestion at the beginning of the service, I would have gotten them, but by this point, I didn't have the time. Plus, shouldn't that suggestion have been made earlier? At the end of the service, I was given the information on the alignment and sent to my car. It was obvious that no tire rotation was done. I went back into the shop and asked if the rotation was done. I was told yes, but when the mechanic was questioned, he said no. Why? Because I didn't buy new tires. I asked to be called to discuss them making it right. Crickets. Even if they thought the car's tires didn't need rotation, they should have done it because I paid for and scheduled the service OR explained at the beginning of the service why they didn't want to do it. Either would have been good with me. My suggestion is do not go to this Firestone. They cannot be trusted to do the work. If I hadn't questioned them, I never would have known they didn't rotate the tires.
