Again, no apologies, no accountability. She then proceeded to make an appointment in November with my daughter.. no thanks, not with unprofessional front desk. Good luck anyone booking online. Unfortunately, I have a similar story to several recent reviews here. After moving, I decided to go to the closest dentist to me. I did not look at the reviews before going (won't make that mistake again!!) I want to stress that before this, I had not been to the dentist for three years. I expected some type of work (cavities etc) would need to be done. However, I take decent care of my teeth and had NEVER had a cavity or any type of dental work - besides wisdom teeth - done before this. Everyone was very very friendly, check in didn't take long, and overall very nice initial experience. Once in the room though, I waited for about 25 mins for things to get going. Once they started, they informed me that I had stage 2 periodontal disease, and that it was completely irreversible as I had 15% bone loss. They also informed me that I had 7 cavities that would need to be filled, along with several more that were on a watch list. I was shocked to say the least, and asked what I could do for it. They said I would need a deep cleaning, and asked if I wanted to do it today. At this point I was two hours into my appointment and hadn't had a cleaning or anything, so I told them I would need to discuss with the front and schedule it out. It was around $1700 worth of things that they said I needed to get one, and I was super panicked. I decided to get a second opinion before I committed to this, and went to see my previous dentist today. I requested my x rays from here, but never received them, so my other office ended up having to redo them. I do have a couple of cavities (not near what they said) but ZERO gum disease. Not even gingivitis. Here, my gum pockets were supposedly ranging from 4-6 mm, but at that dentist they were at a 2-3. I see some people love it here and that's great, but I will definitely not be coming back and just want to caution others, as this seems to be an issue in the last 3-4 months here.

It turns out my bottom left wisdom tooth said it is time like Mariah Carey and created some of the worst constant pain I have ever felt in my entire life. No Advil could save me. They were in network with my dental insurance and had an emergency appointment slot that morning, which covered the x ray and the visit as a whole. Jessica at the front desk was great and helpful in getting me situated. The dental assistant, Lyric, was very helpful with getting all of my x rays. Afterward, I was taken to a room where Dr. Mittal told me that the pain would persist unless I got my wisdom teeth removed, which is not what I wanted to hear. She shared that by Thursday they would have their oral surgeon, Dr. Kelley, who comes in monthly to Hutto Smiles Dentistry to do wisdom teeth removals and other oral surgery. I was a little reluctant to do it so soon because two days felt fast, but after talking with my family we committed and got his last appointment at 1 pm on Thursday. Flash forward through two nights of even worse tooth pain and surgery day had arrived. We arrived 30 minutes before my appointment as requested to go through documents. I was seen around 1:20 and they got me settled in. By 1:30, the anesthesia kicked in, and the next thing I remember, I was in my dad's car getting a smoothie. Both Dr. Kelley and T, his assistant, were great and did what seems to be a good job, but honestly I do not know because I was knocked out, which is exactly what I wanted. I did not want to feel any of that. They did a good job getting me through the surgery and the whole process. They do seem a little behind schedule both times I went, but that feels pretty standard for dentists and doctors these days. It was not anything too extreme. Just do not expect to be in and out if you are in a rush. I have not been to a dentist in a long time, but I am considering returning to Hutto Smiles Dentistry in the future to get my teeth cleaned due to how well they handled everything. They did a lot to help me prepare for the surgery and made the process as easy as possible. Now, I heal. I had gotten work done last August at another Renken. I made an apt here since I now moved to Leander and was still in pain. I had gone to another dental office (not Renken) in April or May and was advised that I would need the crown replaced if the pain didn't subside and since it was done within the year timeframe to go back to the office I had gotten it done. I thought all Renkens were contracted together and was not told EACH IS SEPARATE until after the appointment. That isn't even the main reason I am upset. I am upset because the billing manager tried to insinuate it was odd I waited so long. First of all I wasn't asking for a refund so not sure what I would have to gain. I only wanted the work redone. Maybe some people like having dental work done again for fun but that isn't my idea of a good time. She needs to learn proper etiquette such as how to properly speak with customers and understand dental billing with insurance. Work is normally guaranteed for at least a year. The other staff was nice but I would caution going here since she unfortunately needs further training and coaching. I will be contacting the general manager here as well as leadership at Renken for her to get proper training. Lucky for me my job is to find people online that may not be listed so shouldn't be hard to get in touch with Dr. Renken himself even though he is in another state. It appears this is a known issue as well if you look at other reviews. Luckily I do not bunch all Renkens together and feel bad for the dentist and non billing staff because they were nice. Then we remembered that a new dental office was just built about a mile away. We check out the doctors, their educational backgrounds and the client reviews. We were happy with the information we received about Dr. Renken and his dental team. Upon my initial appointment inquiry, I was sent a link to gather extensive information regarding my medical history. I can respect this as your doctor doesn't know anything about you unless you tell them. My Hygienist was very friendly, she gave me a lot of pointers regarding dental maintenance and cleaning tips around my retainer. Dr. Josh Rankin examined me. Very attentive and personal. They asked a lot of questions about me. Which I thought was very important. Like I said, they only know what you tell them. Overall it was a wonderful experience, considering it was a dental office. Was told they only issue checks once a month, but I called in late April, so it took 4 check issuances to send a check. May find another practice that cares more about their patients money. BTW, they now charge 3% if you charge to a credit card, so yes they accept credit cards, but with a ding.

From the front staff Christy an Kaycee made things smooth sailing while always communicating and keeping me up-to-date on my appointment and committing to call me as a reminder and just all around being friendly and kind from the moment, you walk in the door. Unlike some places where the front staff is pissy and rude and just makes you feel like you're in an awkward place and being judged. The communication with the doctors is on point and they always get back to you immediately if there's a question or concern. Once you are called back into the back rooms and start your procedure I will admit that Dr. Ho and Dr. Brian are the best and most accommodating doctors that I've ever been to in the Dental world. Not only are they relatable and communicative, but they're kind and caring with concern not just about the dollar but about your smile. When it comes down to it, I have never once felt out of place or in judgment or seen for less than because my smile was not the best and brightest. Over the years that has NEVER changed as these amazing doctors have taken the time and consideration to do what's in my best interest for my teeth for today and in the future. I love the opportunity to just engage with them and has a human interaction other than a superior over myself. Never have they made me feel less than as a person just because I'm not as educated as they are. Over my time being here I have had some mishaps were life happened and appointments were missed, and their kindness and concern went the extra mile as they always checked in with me to make sure that things were OK after the fact, even though I took time out of the doctors office and away from another patient because I missed my appointment. Never once did they chastise me or make me feel bad. I remember last year when they stepped up for my family and went the extra mile in a very special way, and because of that they will always be near and dear to my heart.
