Conejo now offers plumbing services so I Called them when I had a puddle in my garage. Turned out to be leaking 60 year old copper pipes in the slab. The problem was quickly diagnosed and repairs started. Other leaky pipes were located, fixed and everything brought up to code. Water pressure was adjusted to the appropriate pressure. All of the Conejo crew were helpful in explaining what and why they were doing The job site was cleaned up before they left, and Conejo heating and air referred us to a very good plaster and drywall person to complete the job. The receptionist, Nancy, was friendly and helpful and called a few times to confirm the appointment. Since I work full time, I had my mom at my house to let them in. The technician took a look at the problem and went outside for what seemed like a long time to my mom, but came back and replaced the tank-to-bowl kit and the flapper. He didn't communicate the problem to her or give her an estimate of the cost. An hour and a half later, he gave her a bill for $342.50. She told him, if I knew it would cost that much, I would have bought a new toilet. He charged $192.50 for 90 minutes labor (much of the time was spent getting basic parts which he should have had on his truck and talking on the phone), $25 for the flapper (fine) and $125 for the tank to bowl kit, a part which retails for $8-$25. I called the company to question them on the cost. Nancy listened to me and said she would talk to the plumber and get back to me. A few weeks went by and I hadn't heard anything. I called again. Nancy told me she had talked to the manager and he agreed to give me a $50 credit on my next service. I told her that wasn't acceptable because my mom had paid for the service and I wanted her to give her the money. Who knows when I would need plumbing again? (And, after this experience I certainly have no intention of using them.) Also, interestingly, she mentioned the person who performed the service for me was no longer with the company! She said she would talk to the manager again and get back to me. Another week has gone by, and I have heard nothing. To top it all off, the part they used is really cheap. The handle is very loose and you have to hold it down for a few seconds to get the toilet to flush. Benton's reputation has been flushed down the toilet by United Plumbing.

Hughes popped up on Yelp and after reading several reviews, I reached out. I was able to easily self book an appointment online and some to Brandon on the phone first thing in the morning. He was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain things to me, all before ever coming out. He indicated a third party would need to get involved for my particular issue, and provided a local recommendation and contact info. Brandon even offered to come out at the same time as the third party to stay on the same page. Ultimately, I ended up not moving forward with Hughes for reasons that had nothing to do with Brandon. But like I said at the beginning, I won't hesitate to call again if I'm ever in need.

I needed the work to be done right away since I had a new washer being delivered the following day and because my faucets were so old and corroded, both the cold and hot water faucets ended up needing replacements. Brendan gave me 2 quotes which included a worst case scenario where they would have to cut through the drywall so I appreciated him for preparing me for the two possible scenarios. As it turned out, his guys showed me the issue where they had to cut through the drywall in order to remove the old faucets since the angle of the box made it difficult to remove them with a pipe wrench. In the end, they were able to replace both faucets, install a new box and even did a good job of putting the cut drywall pieces back on to so that the pipes would not be exposed. The guys were very courteous and professional and cleaned everything up once they were done. The price was comparable to other quotes I received but I chose Best Coast Plumbing because Brendan was so personable and went out of his way to accommodate my schedule. I will definitely call him again for any future plumbing work.
