They have Good sushi selections and usually have nice fresh seafood selections. We had Tile fish prepared with escarole, white beans, and crispy leaks. Quite good! We also had wild Alaskan salmon that was somewhat disappointing. Id skip that! Was kind of dry and a bit fishy. Not terrible, but not really exceptionally enjoyable either. Service was good! They definitely work hard! They were washing down the table next to us as we sat down which is fine. Unfortunately, they were using some kind of solution that smelled like dirty or rotten damp rags. Unfortunately the smell took a while to dissipate and impacted our party's experience. It also probably reduced our ordering of pre-meal apps and drinks, not intentionally, but because it wasnt appetizing. I'd heard so much about this place, particularly how great their sushi is, so I was excited to try it last time I was out here. We came here during lunch time and the restaurant had a strange smell to it -- not sure if it was something they used to clean or what. We knew that there had been some issues with boats coming in to deliver seafood the day before and were told that some things were not available -- but wish that we would've been told of things that weren't fresh like the sushi. I ordered the sushi platter and it was so dry and bland, as if the fish had been cut days ago. I ended up not finishing it. The blacked fish bites and the fluke sandwich were decent. The sliced yellowtail was better than the sushi since it had a lot of sauce on it. The clams were the freshest thing we had. Service was slow which was surprising given we were one of two tables in here for lunch. Not really overly impressed. read more

We have always loved the Inlet but I had an experience yesterday that I did not appreciate, made me feel dismissed. I just want management to be aware because this is not typical of the great food and service we usually receive there. I walked in, requesting to purchase a gift card and the poor attendant at the podium looked so scared, as if I had 2 heads. I repeated the request, and she asked a male colleague to help me get the gift card. He acknowledged her and she asked me to step aside. All good. They were so busy so I patiently waited 20 minutes next to the podium as they seated customers who came in. I finally asked how the gift card was coming along and I was told by another different associate "oh no, you have to buy them online". So I finally left. Everyone makes mistakes but staff could use better training in how to treat customers with courtesy, especially when they are standing right in front of you for 20 minutes. read more

The service is always great here and usually no problem getting a great sunset seat table. Crowds are always friendly and the food is great with a somewhat limited seafood if you don't like Asian food. Eat outdoors or in with a great view of the harbor! One of the best in Montauk! read more

We just grabbed martini's at the bar and they were fantastic. Youve got to get gin on Gin beach. Should go without saying. We learned that the bar is owned by six local Fisherman, so it gets a lot of support from community. In fact, it's better to come for lunch, because dinner, according to the bartender, insane!! It is a rather small place but all the lacquered wood, as well as the open windows sending in the ocean breeze, and the chill reggae music playing overhead, it really makes you feel like you are at the beach. I turned to my girl, and before I could say anything, she tells me,"This is so good. What a great idea." Couldn't have said it better myself. read more

This was such a great restaurant!!! The view here,of course, is stunning!!!! The food was fresh as can be! The mussels with garlic sauce were big and creamy. The raw oysters were great too! We ordered the lobster and it was so fresh! The desserts were a treat as well! But the star here was not the food or view,it was our waiter Kristian. He was such an exceptional server. We attended their holiday boat parade event (held at the end of the season to support the Montauk food pantry), and the food did not disappoint. The highlights were: * Raw bar - the oysters and clams here were the largest i've ever seen. They're also extremely fresh and delicious. * Steak-frites - tender, flavorful, and successfully cooked medium well. One of the best steaks I've ever had despite this being a seafood place. * Sweet and sour cauliflower - flavorful and a great blend of textures between the cauliflower and its tempura coating Surprisingly, the sushi was not standout compared to the other dishes, but nothing we got was bad. The waitstaff worked tirelessly all night to clear our tables, keep the food coming out smoothly, and make full rounds of the room with hors d'œuvres. While we came here this time for a special event, I would also come back during normal operating hours for the fantastic food, service, and view of passing boats! What a great experience! read more

Fantastic views from inside or outside. The wait once seated is long but you can watch the boats drift by. Ordered the fluke picatta based on a friend's advice, and it was excellent. Lunchtime was filled with country music. One unpleasant surprise was that after requesting the dessert menu, I needed to use the rest room downstairs, so I left my hat, sunglasses, and sun umbrella at my table, along with the dessert menu. When I returned a few minutes later, the host handed them to me and my place had been cleared! I told her I was not yet finished and resumed my seat. She did not apologize, but at least she didn't seat anyone else there in the meantime. This place has a lot going for it, but they need more staff to keep up with the busy crowds, and please, dear owners, fix the elevator! There were many elderly patrons with mobility issues who would be grateful to save some steps. read more

A great place for sushi and sunset. The food here is great, the service is good, and the food comes out fast (too fast). The sushi here is as fresh as you can get. Since 1985, the inlet fleet is responsible for 9 million pounds of seafood each year. In 2006, the restaurant was built for the purpose of bringing seafood directly from the boats to your plate. With 85% of seafood coming from overseas, they take pride in serving fish caught off of Montauk the very same day. I got the Ika Salad (marinated squid) which was very good. I did the Sashimi Platter for my main dish which did not disappoint. The ambiance is very casual and good for large groups. They do not take reservations. Waits for a table can be over an hour but it is worth the wait. The only thing I didn't like was that they brought my main dish while I was still in the middle of my appetizer. read more

A must stop every time I am in Mtk. Whether for lunch or dinner you will have a great meal. I highly recommend their scallop and shrimp penne pasta. It's a huge portion and guaranteed to fill your appetite. Their in house sushi is out of this world too. Service is always great, no matter how busy it is. The closer to dinner time and sunset be prepared for a long wait time as they have a phenomenal sunset view right on the marina water. We visited for lunch and our party of 5 enjoyed ourselves. We sat outside on a beautiful Fall day and loved the sea air and the views. Our server was friendly, prompt and helpful. Appetizers and mains were good, so were cocktails. We enjoyed the sushi, poke bowl, and fish tacos, all were good. Desserts were also good, the stand out was the home made donuts and ice cream. We had a very disappointing experience here. We were told the wait would be 30 to 45 minutes, which we were fine with. But after an hour, we politely asked about our table and were met with a nasty attitude. At one point, one of us asked if everything was okay or if there was a problem. Instead of offering a simple response, she started making faces and moving her hands in a dramatic "what do you want me to do?" fashion. It was bizarre and unprofessional. After a bit of back and forth, she told our entire group to leave, including five young children who had patiently waited over an hour for dinner. To really drive the point home, she raised her voice to make a scene as we were being kicked out, clearly trying to put on a show for the crowd. Here's the thing: running a business isn't for everyone. And based on what we experienced, it's clear this owner is having a very hard time doing so. Hospitality takes grace and professionalism, neither of which were on display. If she couldn't handle us asking about our table, how would she handle rudeness or unhappy patrons? We won't be back, and I'd strongly encourage others to think twice. read more

Another year, another Inlet dinner! My husband and I dined at Inlet this past weekend. Dinner starts at 4:30 and by the time we arrived at 5, the window seats were all filled up so we ate in the middle of the dining room, which was fine. I do love their views, though. We were in a little bit of a rush and our waiter was not coming over to us. I guess another waitress saw us getting frustrated so she came over to help us the entire time which was very nice. Maybe it was an off night, but the table behind us was complaining about the service, too. I ordered the Pontos Punch and a coke to start. I ended up telling the waitress to hold off on the soda but I guess she forgot to tell the bar so it was on the house - very nice. For an appetizer, my husband ordered the oysters. I don't eat them but he said they were delicious (check out the large one in the pic!). Fresh and delicious, the way seafood in Montauk should be. Our dinner was swiftly brought out: I had sirloin steak with asparagus and a baked potato (they unfortunately couldn't sub for fries) and my husband had the fish n chips. My steak was delicious and the way I always remember: juicy and tender. The fries that came out with my husband's meal were horribly well-done, but he enjoyed his meal. We didn't have time for dessert and had to leave thereafter. For a nice view of the water with delicious food, dine at Inlet! You won't be disappointed. read more

If this is one of the best restaurants in Montauk and where the locals eat, I feel really sorry for them. There is a beautiful view and the bartenders are okay, but otherwise skip this place. The food and service are terrible. You could get better calamari at TGI Fridays and the fish is covered in a thick, tasteless sauce and has been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour before it comes to your table. The "fresh seafood" here comes frozen from a Sysco truck not a nearby fishing boat. read more

Waitress didn't even bring small forks with the oysters. Wife's linguine with clams arrived barely warm and dry with not enough sauce. Not too many clams. My pasta fra diavoli was tasty and large pasta helping, but only 2-3 clams, 5 very small shrimp, and 10-12 mussels. Overpriced at $44. I won't be back. Nor would I recommend it. read more

Food is 3-4 stars. The sushi is good. Sunset is 5 stars. Service leaves much to be desired, and they auto-add gratuity on larger parties which I'm not a fan of - especially when the service is bad. I think this restaurant can be broken up by seatings. "First seating" - the people who get here before the sunset and hold the tables for every minute up until the sunset is over. "Second seating" - the hungry families who wait outside at picnic benches for up to two hours until the greedy people in the first seating decide to leave. Here's your tip: if you're in the first seating: don't be greedy. Get up when you're finished. If you're in the second seating: order your drinks and apps on the ground floor. Suggestion for management: move parties along. Keep silverware, plates and napkins available so people aren't sitting with food in front of them, and no server to be found. Bring the food out together instead of staggered for entrees. The reservation quote system is useless as it doesn't factor in the inconsiderates in the first seating (can you guess which seating we were? Lol). So typical MTK.... at least they have plenty of space to hang while you wait. The one quirk about Inlet is that it seems disjointed. Sushi, Asian, Italian food, chops... more like a cafeteria of selections than a cohesive menu. However, maybe some parties will prefer this as it would satisfy many palates. read more

Used to be our favorite spot for great local seafood. Ordered a bottle of rose and waitress opens and proceeds to pour two big glass full without out even hinting do we want to taste first. Bad start. Wait staff were treating us like a fast food counter customer. Got a Fluke sandwich that was first off small piece of fluke and blackened to the point I couldn't eat. Best part of sandwich was tomato and onion. Wife got a steamed lobster that was overcooked. Had to ask for butter for potato and small fork for lobster. Waitress said they don't give butter for potatoes or corn on cob. Eaten here many times in past and always given good service and basic things like butter, sour cream, fork.
