Nothing bad to say here, but also nothing to write home about. It is a cute spot, with a dope views. I love rooftops, so I was definitely impressed with the ambiance and aesthetic. I came here after visiting CODA and because my friend raved about the shrimp dumplings. Now while they were good, I felt like each dumpling had a different taste with some bites being better than others. Not sure why that was but it was definitely something that stood out to me. In addition to the dumplings, I tried the duck tacos. The tacos were so good, and flavorful. There wasn't the gamey duck taste, but the seasonings used also did not mask the natural flavor of the duck. Westlight is a great place for fun with friends, date night, or drinks with a view. I recommend coming during the sunset, as the view outside it beautiful, even in the rain. The dry aged beef burger ($22) was delicious, and so were the duck carnitas tacos (which were massive and filling, also $22). The food portions are large and filling. The atmosphere is loud inside. The cocktails tend to be on the sweeter side and quite strong (about $20 each. The Corpse reviver #2 was sweet. The southside cocktail was good and quite strong as well). I love rooftops and this is one of the best views you can get of Manhattan. Anytime I have friends from other states come visit, this is somewhere I carry them. The view is breathtaking. I have been both during the day and at night. The night is def the best of course. I would suggest to catch the sunset as well. Inside is a great ambiance as well. Drinks are good, food is ok. We went to Westlight for brunch. It was a great experience and the view is, in my opinion, worth the trip. As far as drinks go, we ordered a round of espresso martinis first. I'd say the espresso martinis were on the stronger side. I wish there was a splash more espresso in it, but that's a personal preference. I also got the lavender lake cocktail which was really good- it was not too sweet and very refreshing. As for food, we got the crispy herb fries, tuna tartare puffs, local burrata, and the charred octopus skewers (couldn't even get a pic of the skewers because we devoured it so quickly...). The fries were, as their name indicates, very crispy, which is right up my alley. The tuna tartare was good but I felt like it was too small even for a small bites dish. The burrata and blueberry yuzu jam was surprisingly a pretty good combo- we were most iffy about ordering that but it turned out to be a nice twist to everything else we ordered. Definitely would go here again. It's pretty pricey though, so I would keep that in mind if you're planning to go. The small bites and cocktails can really start to add up. read more

Unfortunately, the main reason for our visit was to enjoy the view and ambience during sunset, and that experience was completely undermined. Right as we were seated, before sunset, large groups of people began jumping up to take photos, which blocked and disrupted the view until the sun had gone down. This defeated the entire purpose of the visit and made the high prices feel unjustified. Because of that, I would not return. read more

Westlight is a rooftop restaurant with amazing views of the city. Unfortunately, I booked an indoor seat and I went at the end of November so it was extremely cold outside. Next time would definitely want to come back for drinks and get a seat outside for the sunset. The food here is very mediocre and is not really worth the price at all. We ordered the charred octopus, empanadas, fries and salmon and they were all okay. The drinks were pretty good though! Let me start off with what I didn't like since there was more that I did like. I did not like that I reserved terrace seating only to be told that due to inclement weather my reservation was moved inside to arrive and see all the terrace tables full. The outdoor space was the draw for me to visit this place so they lost two stars for that. The service was good. I liked that with reservations you are escorted to the front of the line to get on the elevator up to the venue. We felt like VIPs in that moment. The prices are high which is to be expected for the venue and it being New York but the portion sizes were just right and I enjoyed my food and cocktails. The food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time which was great. The views from The Turf Club which is the open space rooftop area above the restaurant offered very nice views of the city. I've been to this place a few times mostly to bring my international guests visiting . I wanted to showcase rooftops outside Manhattan with stunning views . I was initially worried about obtaining an outdoor table due to the nyc heat we've been experiencing but was relieved when the weather was milder that day . We had a 3:45pm reservation for 5, 2 of us got there 10 min late . I'm very well aware of the 15 mi. Grace period and my out of town guests arrived at 4:20. I initially asked to get seated while waiting for the others but was told the party should all be there, hence we just bought drinks at the bar . The host said that despite being half hour late , there may be some table available ( I did notice there were a couple of empty tables outside ). Not until I checked again. At 4:35, I was told it might be a little bit longer ( it would be helpful if longer meant 15,30 or an hour later ). We were then offered a table inside close to the window to still enjoy the view . While I understand policies, if we got seated , we could have ordered drinks and have eliminated or minimized my disappointment especially having seen empty tables that we could have occupied. This place has changed tremendously ( clientele wise ) pre covid / a first years after they opened vs now . One review had it on point - it's an Instagram type of place and it's evident that the business due to its popularity , couldn't maintain the old ambiance . We eventually hung out on the upper level which was fun ( there's music and the open space with the view is epic ). Getting drinks was a wait and personally I think the process is inefficient . You get your drink and have to pay to a other person . Why not have both of them serve and charge at the same time . Nonetheless, because of the stunning views , despite the Service , I'll continue to bring friends ( but will not order the overpriced frozen drink $24 inclusive of tip ). Came here for drinks only with a friend and we really enjoyed our time here with the amazing views of the Manhattan skyline. We made a reservation on their website about two weeks out for outdoor seating on a Tuesday evening at 9 pm. There's a large indoor seating area as well, but we definitely wanted to be closer to the view. They offer outdoor seating along three sides of the building (like a U), and we were lucky enough to be seated on the side directly facing Manhattan. Score! We had dinner before coming here, since the reviews for the food seemed to be that it's pricey and mediocre. Instead, we focused on the drinks. I tried two, the Tijuana highball and High Altitude, both of which were $18. Yes they are still pricey, but at least you get more volume than you would at a cocktail bar in Manhattan. My friend and I had just paid the same price for cocktails the night before for half the amount of drink. Both were good, but I thought the High Altitude was better for slowly sipping, as one of the main ingredients was sparkling wine. Given that we were in a prime location, it was fun to take pictures and also people watch, as so many people were coming up to take pictures in front of the skyline. I'm not sure if there's a time limit per reservation, but it wasn't that busy on a Tuesday night, so we ended up staying for over 2 hours and left close to 11:30. read more

This is strictly about service. I did not consume any of the drinks or food except cola. During my visit, I went to take a call in the lobby, I leaned up against what I thought was the wall and fell. There was a doorway in a similar pattern as the wall, and as it turned out that the door was ajar, causing me to fall into the room which was some kind of staff area. I hit my arm hard enough that I broke the skin and have a large bruise and back pain. I reported the issue to staff. I indicated that it creates an optical illusion and that it was a dangerous condition. I also indicated if not for the safety of their patrons, then I would have been concerned if it was my location about liability issues. The staff member indicated that she had seen me fall in a belittling way and was thereafter dismissive. I was at the location for several hours and not once did i see the door closed. read more

However, after my last time I must say it's now three stars. The venue inside and out is beautiful. The bites are not what I would call the best as my friend likes to say its eat-able...lol! I get that now we're in a different time places that are now open want and need to make money but rushing people when they come in and sit is so not cool. Came here on a friends recommendation because of the great view. It was a bit on the colder end so we were seated inside, but there were people enjoying themselves at the outside tables as well. Salmon : the skin was crispy, however the broth made it a little soggy and dulled the otherwise delicious salmon. I would still recommend it though Roasted honeynut squash : It was well seasoned, the pomegranate relish didn't sweeten or overpower the taste and it was quite crispy as well . Great service and great views. We had an outdoor reservation but they had to close the outside because of high winds. They notified us through text and we secured an indoor table. When we arrived they didn't make the update but the staff was quick to resolve the issue and gave us a great table with a view. We didn't try the food but the drinks were great. My friend and I had a mini photo shoot with that amazing view of my glorious city! After we had our fill of photos, we went back to our seats in the shade and ordered some food. We decided to share the fried calamari and I got the dry aged beef burger. The calamari came with black olive aioli and rocoto chili, as well as a sprinkling of green onion. It was quite flavorful from the aioli and well seasoned, delightfully crispy and tasty, however I expected a larger portion for the price of $18. My burger, served with smoked cheddar and special, secret sauce, was delicious! The beef was cooked perfectly medium and was extremely tender, succulent, and juicy! The cheese was mouthwateringly melty and the accompanying savory sauce was full of flavor. All the meat, cheese, and sauce mingled together making each bite wonderful. Alongside the burger was a cucumber topped with fresh black pepper and green onion slices. This was had a satisfying crunch and was pretty good. I would have preferred french fries though.
