My SUV was scratched the other day at Stop & Shop. The miscreant left without leaving a note. This morning I stoped at Westport Auto Craft for an estimate expecting to pay maybe $200. But surprise : the owner looked at it , came back with a rag and a "magic" liquid and buffed it all out. When asked how much he replied: it is on the house!! We had serious collision damage to our 2008 Mercedes GL550 in 2014 that required about $20K worth of repairs. The repair took several weeks, but the car came back looking like new. We are still driving the car 10 years later, and although we accumulated a few new scratches and dings on it since, the Westport Autocraft repairs have held up very well, both mechanically and cosmetically. read more

This is not a review I ever thought or wanted to write. I've been going to Westport Auto Craft for well over a decade, and largely had a fine experience with them. However, I had a minor fender bender and went to them with every intention of using them to repair my vehicle. For some reason, they weren't able to engage with me in a quality way in any capacity. First, they wrote my number down wrong, then they looked at my car after a few days to work the estimate with the insurance. I then spent the next three days trying to get any information on progress of the estimate and determine when they could actually perform the work. Today, I finally got them on the phone, and Rob (who I believe is the owner of the shop) basically told me he was having trouble with my insurance company (a large national and reputable company) because of a system compatibility issue. To top it off, he couldn't take the car for several more weeks. Throughout this process, I had been cordial as I have a long standing relationship with the shop. However, when I asked Rob why he never returned my calls and why he didn't say he was too busy to take the car at the onset, he said everyone was busy and good luck finding anyone that could take the car sooner. Then he hung up on me. Well, Rob - I have another body shop, and they're taking the car next week. I can't believe you threw away a good, long-time customer when I have never been anything other than understanding and reasonable. Things must be in really bad shape over there, and I will recommend people avoid your shop going forward. I had been an advocate - What a shame. read more

I had a scratch and the color came out of my bumper. At first I thought that I needed a small body paint. I talked to Ron at Westport Auto Craft and he told me that I just needed a touch up. He advised me to go to Mercedes Benz and ask for touch up color and he will do for me for free. What a wonderful and honest person! Six months ago I saw a scratch on my car and went to Ron as well. He took the solution and cleaned that area. I realized then that I did not need any paint work. Ron did not charge me either. Thank you so much Ron. The auto business needs trust. Absolutely loved this place ! As a Women who knows little to nothing about cars they made the process smooth & easy. I loved how honest and open they are about the whole process, quoted me on everything from the price, to how long it will take the part to get in ( updated me as soon as the the part shipped & moved up my drop off date) & how long the actual work will take. They did all the paperwork for the insurance for me & made sure the work was done promptly and in the time frame my insurance would cover for a rental car. Honest! Yes, you heard that correctly...An auto-body place that's actually honest! They did everything they said they'd do and they charged what they said they would charge. The only guidance I'd give is: Make sure they have the parts they need BEFORE dropping your car (assuming its operable) to avoid additional delays. read more

This place was hugely disappointing. At the request of the driver who hit me, I went there for work she was paying for. Either she was shortchanged or I was, but the work that was promised was not delivered. Scratches still very visible although Rob said he'd touch them up. What does that mean to you? To me, it means paint over them. When your car is ready, you won't know it, because no one calls. It comes back filthy. Never again. Rob not a man of his word. read more

Without a doubt the best service and attention to detail. The work was top notch. My car needed a lot of collision work. It came out looking better than new. They are very efficent and most of all very honest. Rob, the owner, is on top of every job. Ron, his associate is right there to help and answer anything that you need to know. A great team. Owner dosn't follow up on phone messages or emails. Doesn't listen or want to hear what you have to say since he only has enough brains to follow what his computer says you need and not what's parked 5 feet away from him. Didn't take pictures like every other body shop did. Had the nerve to question we ther I was lying about a part being on my car since his computer doesn't show it. Claimed to have ordered part and said it would arrive tuesday. When I called about bringing the car in he's on vacation and noone knows anything. I was told to bring it back for an estimate by the mamager in norwalk and they would not honor the estimate the owner gave me saying he forgot to ad fees. The office is a mess and employees were kinda rough around the edges using not such nice terms about others employee's. Generally the manager seemed like a decent guy but has a difficult situation. read more

Had driver side door and front quarter panel repair done exactly a yr ago. Already have paint chipping and bubbling. Door trim on window popping up , apparently not put on properly. Left side running light was never put back in place correctly, had to have dealer fix. Shop manager at the time didn't know how to get payment from insurance co when I picked up car, had to do it there myself for him, wasting a lot of my time. Inside of car was mess and in disarray for some reason, no one thought it would be professional to have car somewhat clean and back in order for pick up. Quit frankly just a mess and unprofessionally run business. Should be experiencing this issues if the job was done correctly. read more

What an amazing shop - the work is superb, and the prices are excellent. I backed my brand new car into a pole and had to pay out-of-pocket for the repair. I therefore got quotes from six different shops on the area - WAC's price was fair, and the guys there didn't jerk me around or try to charge for any unnecessary extras (unlike some other nearby shops!!). When I picked up the car, it looked brand new once again - their work is meticulous, detailed-oriented and really beautiful. I'm so pleased with the price and the end result. Chubb insurance prearranged for my vehicle to be repaired by Westport Auto Craft. I called in advance to schedule an appointment to bring my vechical in. I came to the location with my vechical empty and ready for drop off. I was greeted than asked to sign a paper and left waiting for over 30 minutes to be assisted. When I informed the staff that I would return at a different time as I had to leave staff told me not to come back and that they refused to service my car. Later I attempted to reach the manager and was placed on long holds or hung up on repeatedly. When driving away my bumper dangled from my car as staff had not secured it after opening the trunk. The service was poor. The staff was inappropriate. The consequence was a delay in having my vechical inspected for damages caused by another persons neglegent driving. I am 6 month pregnant and was just discharged by Norwalk hospital for care I received due to the accident. There should have been no reason for Westport Auto Craft to be so inappropriate with me. There customer service was absolutely horrible. read more
