Traveling from Florida when my F150's slow coolant leak suddenly turned serious in freezing CT weather. As an out-of-towner, I was worried about being taken by the wrong shop. Summit diagnosed it immediately and worked me in even though the shop was slammed during New Year's week. The repair was labor-heavy -- intake off, crossover pipe, seals, gaskets -- and they did it right. They quoted a fair price, and the final bill came in $400 under when they confirmed my intake didn't need to be replaced. They could have installed a new one and no one (especially me 1,200 miles from home) would have questioned it -- but they chose honesty instead. Called and asked if they worked on Honda hybrid they said yes brought it in. They scanned it went over it called me back and told me they couldn't work on. It had to bring it to Honda. I told them that's.why I asked if they worked on Honda he said yeah we can't fix it. You'll have to bring it to the dealer It's $170 diagnostic fee so I dropped it off just to pay $170 for diagnostic fee that I couldn't even use so if you have a hybrid, bring it to the dealer because they don't work on them. read more

Dropped my 2012 Audi A8 with 17900 miles off to replace the oil cooler gasket which was causing an oil leak, during that repair they broke the coolant hose and notified me that it will be replaced at no cost to me. A few days later picking up my car they wanted to charge me for the part they broke which made me upset that they would do that at my expense, then here comes this racist POS! Jeff sating to me that my car is old and has a lot of miles so I should pay for the part that they broke or I'm not getting my car back! As a black man that works hard for what I have wether it's new or old, no body should be treated like that from a company that you're paying for service. I like their style!!!!! To be frank I don't know anything about cars. I know how to drive, and that about sums it up. Oh, and I can only drive automatic, even though cars are dual shift these days. I do like fast, and driving on a cloud. With that said when the car required tending, we asked a trusted and knowledgeable friend for a recommendation. Bob said Summitt, and I'm impressed. I called on Monday, told them a light came on. Jeff asked me when I was available to bring in the vehicle. Wednesday morning,I drove Silver Lining to the shop, later that afternoon I picked up a fully repaired transport. What really impressed me was the order of their workspace, and how professional these gentlemen were. When I picked up Silver Lining I was presented with the parts. I literally asked "what's this???" Which Brian took the time to explain the different parts, and what was replaced. With that said, you want to go somewhere, that when the work is done- you know what they worked on. My first visit there was fine. One of the owners, Jeff, quickly resolved the issue I had, and it seemed like I'd found a good place to take my car. But then, on my second visit I had the misfortune of dealing with one of the employees (I'll refrain from giving his name). After he told me that part of my shaft assembly was no good, he said that (1) the parts were not available, but (2) he'd continue to look for them at dealerships and junk yards. If that wasn't successful, I'd eventually need to get another car. The idea that I could buy a good used one there was then mentioned; I took my car home, hoping it wouldn't come to that. I realized that #2 had been a lie when I called to touch base over a week later. In the background, I heard Summit-guy shout, "I can't look now, I'm busy!" Brenda came back on the line and said, "No, he hasn't looked. We're very busy." That was it. He didn't tell her to relay something like, 'No, I haven't looked yet, but I will as soon as I have some free time'. I didn't doubt that he was busy, but I hung up feeling unsatisfied, dismissed, and disrespected. Another two-plus weeks elapsed; no word one way or the other. Unwilling to give up on my otherwise-in-good-shape, low-mileage car, I went elsewhere, hoping to have better luck. I realized that #1 had been a lie when I told the mechanic at the other place about the unavailability of the parts and Summit-guy's apparent lack of time to look during what was now a period of over three weeks. He said he couldn't understand that--instead of OEM, Summit-guy could've opted to use aftermarket parts, which can easily be ordered from a number of places; maybe it was more about being lazy than busy. Or maybe he'd used the scarcity of OEM as an excuse not to fix my car, since getting me to buy one of their used ones instead would've been much more profitable. Now, this gets even 'better'. After a test drive and inspection, the other fellow told me that Summit-guy had misdiagnosed the issue (perhaps an honest mistake). There was absolutely nothing wrong with any part of my shaft assembly--the worrisome sound I'd been hearing was coming from the serpentine belt, tensioner, and idler bearing. All three were replaced with *yep!* oh-so-available aftermarket parts. My car now only makes sounds it's supposed to, runs like new, and still has lots of life left in it! Okay, so things ultimately turned out for the best. I should actually be grateful to Summit-guy for 'treating me like a woman'. His dishonesty and no-can-do attitude lead me to the right solution from a more respectful, honest, and motivated mechanic. I hope Jeff and Brian won't mind that thanks to him they have one less customer. read more

**** Avoid them , all 5 star reviews are fake. **** Changed my rear brakes and rotors. After that my car started wobbling. Contacted them, they said need to change other parts. But the matter is, before changing the rotors and brakes, the car was not wobbling at all. Spent about $615 but job was not done. So, I don't recommend this place to others. I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am ( pre ODB2) and it would just stall on the highway and then start back up and run until it stalled again. Brian made several test over days because Summit had the right diagnostic tools. Eventually they found the problem and it was repaired. ( I was in no rush to get the car back). He also fixed my A/C. This weekend I went on a 200 mile trip and absolutely no problem. I highly recommend them and will use them in the future. read more
