The second paragraph was my original review. Some customers from when the previous owner repaired their cars were complaining to me about the new guys cause people don't like change so I answered them in the added first paragraph but wasn't clear that I was telling people off and I hurt feelings because I was basically answering in anger at the people complaining but sticking up for the new owners because they are great guys! I was trying to explain to those saying derogatory remarks about them every time I ran into an old customer. See I worked there the last 6 months before it sold. I wasn't paid a red cent by the owner. But help was needed and I was free. Believe me, aside from Billy not on payroll, the new guys have more honesty and heart than the ex owner. Billy is always being called to help. I feel awful because it was not intended to be bad. The above is an apology for original review. Below is the original review and not what I explained in my apology. So the new owners, are a wonderful family and are not preoccupied with figuring out how to scam you and take your money like Fred. I definitely back up Awdie and Oliver and Chino who are great guys. I have been going to Happy car for 20 years now. always reasonable always good friendly people, very honest. But they have been sold to someone else and I do not trust them. They gave me a price for a car that was $325 over what everybody else three other garages gave me I do not recommend them anymore I don't trust them not to mention that none of the mechanics even speak English so it's hard to communicate what the problem is to them, but they are completely overcharging people. I have talked to a few people and they are definitely not the same honest people. They're just in it for the money. I do not recommend them. read more

I have had such a HORRIBLE experience dealing with Happy Car Place and Fred, the owner, was very unprofessional, it was truly appalling. I went to them for replace the tires of my car for new ones and they ended up giving me four used ones while claiming that they were new and charged me over 500 dollars. Fast forward to today (two weeks later) I have a leak/flat tire. I called them and they told me to bring the car over. However, when I got to the place and talked with Fred, he starts screaming claiming that he has nothing to do with my car, I'm fully at fault and I needed to "get the fuck out of his shop." He then proceeded to threatened to call the police on me (despite my calm demeanor and me being black) all because I asked him to replace the faulty tires that he sold me. I am writing this review because I don't want anyone to have the experience that I had at this place, Fred at Happy Car Place claims to be a man of his word but when it's time to put the pedal to the metal, his word falls flats like his tires. read more

When buying a car everyone wants to say "I'm going to have my mechanic take a look at it" but the day of having your own mechanic that you can trust seems to be a thing of the past. That old school honest going the extra mile way of doing business is gone. That is unless you have Fred the owner of Happy Car Place in Bridgeport CT as your mechanic. People drive hours to have him service their automo b Iles and he stands by his work. He has mechanics in there that have been with him for years. One mechanic who is in b hi early 50s has been with him since he was 18. I was in today and it was filled with people and it was like a community. I spoke to a woman who was coming to him when she lived in MA. She lives in CT now but spoke of a time Fred sent two guys up to MA during a frigid day in Feb two years ago to get her car. He has re gu ular customers from Danbury, New Milford and New Fairfield to name a few. I drive a 1/2 from Guilford CT to get work done. Another occurrence from today was an older woman with a dog comes in with her dog and goes into his office to drop something off. Apparently she brings him lunch a few times a week. Fred has flowers delivered to his office daily and gives them out to the lady customers that come in. The building is in a lower income area and really cares for that community and understands their situations. He might just be the nicest guy on this planet.Fred tells me that he might be retiring in two years so if you're looking for someone that you can honestly trust with your automobile for the first time, see Fred and you'll be blown away. I've been taking my 2003 SUV to the Happy Car Place for the past 10 years and have always been satisfied with the various services needed: tires-all aspects, front end work, struts, and a new transmission. I think they're really great at diagnosing the issues and listening to a "common folk's" report of the problem: type of noises and such. They may smile at me when I try to replicate the noise, but I know they're listening. Thank you Happy Car Place! You are good guys! read more
