This place deserves all the love, good vibes, and everything! The service was quick and thorough! They let you know exactly what you need and don't upcharge. The wife/office manager was so helpful in getting our car in. When she realized we would be waiting in the rain, she tried to help us find a dry place to wait or an umbrella to use, and tried to get our car serviced ASAP. It took a little bit longer than usual because of covid but that is just how it has to be to keep everyone safe right now. Plan to be without your car for an extra day or so. Even so they are still really fast. They have been maintaining my car for almost 15 years. I just took it in for the big 20 year tune up and maintenance. I had contacted the dealer just to get an idea of the most it might cost and they beat it by quite a bit. The quality of their work is top notch. Everyone there is pleasant and kind. I never dread being talked down to or being treated like a dumb girl. They treat you with dignity and respect when they need to explain things and I never feel like I've been tricked into something or over charged. The best there is on the west side. read more

I went to Ty's this past Saturday for an oil change. I had made an appointment for 9:00am and got there right at 9. He told me that it would be half an hour, so I went and grabbed a coffee and came back at about 9:35. My car was still right where I left it, and 2 cars that had come in well after I checked in were being worked on. I told them that I had a 10:00am appointment so he put my car up for service around 9:45 and finished at about 10:15. I missed my 10:00am appointment. I had come here because of the great reviews- he is very friendly, prices were normal, but not sticking to an appointment time and having that result in my missing another was not ideal. read more

Ty and his wife did a great job on my car. He installed suspension parts and did only the work we agreed upon. He could have replaced more or charged me more but didn't. That says a lot about Ty. The cost of the repair was much lower than I expected. The only negative is communication. Ty speaks broken English and his wife is somewhat better. I bought my car new over 8 years ago and haven't ever taken it anywhere except Ty's for anything other than oil changes. granted, I've had very little in the way of major work done. there has been at least one occasion when I could have been completely hosed on charges (I had a loose electrical connection that had to be found to be fixed), and the work was done quickly and cheaply. in my experience, Ty is very fast, inexpensive, and easy to work with. the only downside to any experience I've had is that sometimes there are communication issues with the lady who runs the counter. she is often extremely busy and doesn't always write everything down when she should, if she answers the phone when she's away from the desk. otherwise, their place is fantastic and I still give them 5 stars, and recommend them highly. read more

I was super impresses with little Ms.Ty assessment of the car. Dang is she good. Really friendly staff. Woman at the front desk was kind and courteous when I called for an appointment. She was able to squeeze me in last minute and when I showed up she did a visual exam of my brakes and rotors. I was prepared to have the pads and rotors changed but she informed me on exactly what work needed to be done which saved me money on some parts and labor. Very thoughtful of her and I will be going back since they've earned my trust. read more

I called a few days ago to make an appointment to get my car looked at, I have been having electrical issues with my battery and alternator. The lady who spoke with me on the phone was very rude and kept talking over me. But she said I didn't need to make an appointment just stop on by. So I did and I was told that I couldn't be seen because I didn't make an appointment. The wife of the owner is extremely rude!!!!! She told me she would call me back twice I'd wait hours with no response. The owner doesn't even know how to schedule appointments and he owns the business!! I came to Ty's with high hopes. I heard from my uncle that he is a friend and is good at what they do, also read on reviews that they were reliable. My engine light on my 91 Acura Integra was coming on more often and after shorter distances, there was also a burning smell and my engine was rough. I dropped my car off Saturday May 23rd right as they opened and said that they will look at it give us a call. They did not contact my uncle or me till I called them about my car Wednesday. The receptionist said that there's nothing wrong with my car, the engine light is fine to drive with, and its safe to drive. Thursday I came to talk about my car and she argued with me that my engine light has nothing to do with my car, nothing's wrong and was trying to talk down to me. After 5 minutes of that I said I wanted my car back. I started it, the engine made a weird noise and immediately shut off. The second time I started it, the engine shook violently and calmed down after I let it run for a few minutes. I'm assuming they only drove it around the block when they got it and left it in the spot. I went to Dan's Auto Repair off of Rainier and within 15 minutes they diagnosed that my EGR Valve and EGR Control Solenoid Valve were not functioning properly and needed to be replaced. After I replaced the parts, my engine light has not come on. read more

I downloaded the Yelp app just so I could warn people about this horrible place. The first time I took my car in I didn't notice before I left but they had hit my back passenger bumper with a big red vehicle. And then I brought it in again because I figured it was an accident. they were cheap I had a friend using them and my new clutch was working well, but this time they bent my drivers key so bad my drivers door doesn't work and they said they can't help me because they never use drivers doors to get into cars so it couldn't have been them. Never been so let down and cheated by a company. They deserve negative stars. Would never go near there again. My car is way down from the things they fixed. And all they did when they had my car was call me hourly to ask if I want more things fixed, instead of focusing on the issues I brought it in for. Please don't go there! read more

The mechanic replace my fan belt next day make a lot of noise. I bring it back next day to adjust the belt still make noise. I bring it back again didn't want to fix the problem. I was referred to this shop, I saw the reviews ..some good some bad but because I was referred I decided to give them a try. I had some noise coming from my front end and I had a feeling it was either my brakes or possibly a cv joint. I make an appt for 9am, I drop off my car and ask them if they could let me know what's wrong with it and call me before they do anything. The mechanic was very nice. After two hours I call and a lady answers who says she will ask the mechanic and call me back. I wait another 40 min and call again. This time she is apparently on her cell ph and tells me she forgot to ask mechanic and is picking up her child and will call me back. Another hour later I decided to walk to the shop to investigate. Low and behold there is my vehicle and they haven't even looked at it yet. Needless to say I took the keys and left. The next day I bring my car in to try again, this time leaving for the whole day. Again I say CALL ME before doing anything. After the entire day passed with no call I decide to call them. The lady answers again and says my truck is ready and fixed..some bolts were just loose. I said oh great then she immediately says, "how you gonna pay"? LOL really I thought..so I entertain this to see how much tightening 4 bolts costs these days and she says $75!! I said that's ridiculous, and she replied with most places charge $150 and would lie to me about the problem..ok? So I go to pick up my car and I say I'm not happy with the charges so she says she will loosen up the bolts to my brakes not charge me and I can go. Can we say law suit!!?? I said sure then she said just pay what you think it's worth. I could list a multitude of shops that check breaks for free.. If ur looking for a mechanic the lady here wears the pants, the real mechanic seems like a very nice guy but be prepared cause from the reviews this is really typical. read more

So it's Tuesday evening (5:40pm) and were near target in west seattle and my wife decides we need an oil change done on our 2005 Camry! Me being the one not to say anything to piss her off I did say it's pushing 6pm where are we going to get an oil change at this hour? Well we drove up to Ty auto and it looked very busy I mean there were cars everywhere and I told my wife this ain't happening tonite I bet they don't do oil changes She made me go inside and ask when I walked in I was greeted by Mr Ty himself I asked him if he did oil changes since I didn't see a sign stating so and he said yes we do and he said he can do it all he would have to do is move a car and make space! I was so impressed that he would do that so late in the day I told my wife who of course was still sitting in the car and I got that look that said I need to be more positive... they did a perfect oil change they were professional and did everything with pride no half ass work Ty was very nice to me and my wife we were about to tell Ty about a issue regarding a squealing belt that would wake my neighbors every morning well you guess it Ty noticed it when he started the car and adjusted the belt for free! I was pretty annoyed by their communication. They didn't call me with a quote, didn't call me with a diagnosis, and just went ahead and fixed the car. They also didn't call me when it was done. However, I did think that it needed more service than it actually did, so I appreciate that they didn't up-charge me or try to charge me for more than I needed (I just needed a battery.) We love Ty's! We have had several older vehicles not worth the cost of new replacement parts or dealership prices. Ty's has the best price in town and will even recommend if they don't think that oil leak repair is worth the cost for your 15 year old car. I have recommended Ty's to many friends. It is a family run business; Ty's wife is usually at the front desk. Don't assume she doesn't know anything about cars. She has walked me to the back and talked me through some repairs. She taught me how to knock on my starter to get my engine to start up before I could get it repaired. I will say the one con is possibly customer service. Don't expect a dealership atmosphere, and it can seem disorganized and everything is logged on paper. But we have never had a problem with the work. read more

I want to give ZERO STARS. This place was horrible. My window motor blew out(my window was stuck rolled down)and I needed it fixed asap so I stopped by Ty's. Well, he said he could do it, and in an hour so I was stoked! The $100 price tag was more than I wanted to pay but since I needed it done NOW I was willing to pay. I come back an hour later and it's not ready bc he got the wrong part. OK no big deal shit happens I understand. I wait another hour and finally my car's ready. I go up to the counter to pay and the lady tells me $200! I tell her there must be a mistake bc I was told $100, "Umm no, 200 plus tax, the work is done" she tells me.. after some back and forth she agrees to not charge tax but still that was a whole $100 more than I was quoted!! I'm not made of money and it was my WINDOW MOTOR!! It's not some super hard/technical part to replace!!! As I walk to my car I see the window's still rolled down, I find it odd but get in my car and head home. As I'm driving I start rolling my window up and down and I'm happy bc it works until I roll my window all the way up and a see a HUGE scratch across it. A scratch so deep it's scraped the tint off my window!! Furious I turn around and head back to the shop. When I get there and try and TALK to the lady she YELLS and says the damage was already there and it's my fault. We argued for a few minutes bc I know my car(and I KNOW that scratch wasn't there!!)and then she yells "Well what do you want!" "I want my window fixed!" I reply, "I'll give you fifty bucks." she says! "Are you kidding me?! Do you think 50 bucks is gonna get my window tinted?! NO, so you either reimburse me the extra $100 you charged me in the first place or you fix my god damned window!" And for a good minute we had a stare down. She then tells me to bring my car back in a week bc she "has a guy" that tints her windows and at the time I agree. Fast forward to the next/this morning, I'm in my car on my way to work and I reach for my stereo remote and it's GONE! I really couldn't believe it!!! I tore my car apart looking for it and it's nowhere to be found and I'm not the kind of person to put my stereo remote in my purse or pocket. After work I check everywhere and nope, it's gone. WHO DOES THAT??!! What kind of shop steals from their customers and WHO THE HELL STEALS STEREO REMOTES!!?? I now don't want these people anywhere near my car and after going there and asking for a reimbursement I get accused of "causing trouble" and handed two CRUMPLED RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE $50 dollar bills. i completely agree with Natan C, was thrilled to come here with all the great reviews, and referral. however, dealing with wife up front i was so put off and humiliated! here's the facts; after being referred from my mechanic, who was out of town, and calling to inquire about types of payment i let her know I'd be paying with my boyfriend's credit card, which she said was fine and requested i bring; photo of my boyfriend, photo of his id, and signed consent from him. i showed up with more than that; photo of my guy holding id AND brought his id with me, along with consent to use his card and credit card. she saw the photo of my boyfriend, and ran card with no issues. i was about to leave when i saw she had our card number written down on my paper work in a pile with other receipts unsecured and no safe; being a victim of identity fraud i requested she black out all but last 4 numbers due to privacy, that's when it went down hill and i was accused of being a thief, in so many words. she showed me another's receipt which showed a fraudulent transaction, their name, address, etc. i explained that I am in the health care field and follow hipaa, this type of information is not to be unsecured, she insisted that she's the only one that sees this, this after repeating the card number several times to the bank she was calling to make sure i wasn't a thief, in front of a handful of customers. (she called bank to make sure this is a legal transaction). i was humiliated to say the least! she threatened to void transaction and keep my car. she wanted to talk with my boyfriend, who was working and doesn't always pick up calls, as he works with clients, which i explained. after the multitude of text messages to him and frantic calls he called me. she was on the phone with bank and refused to speak with him, he suggested i call the police, really, we're at this point? she actually encouraged me to call police; i don't have enough time in my day to deal with this, nor waste my and others money, i already missed a day of work. my boyfriend ended up calling back on my phone, again, and speaking with her; she double checked the telephone number he had put on the consent matched the number calling my cell, another humiliating moment. at one point she told me, since overhearing my convo worth my boyfriend earlier, that there was over 1k on his card, that i go across the street to get cash, yet she didn't have ability to void transacting and neither did her merchant banker, since it was a legit transaction. i refused to pay her twice. after she received my boyfriend's text with another consent, she requested again he take a photo with his face next to his id, which i had. after my car was blocked in and got the "free to go pass" i left, shaking with anger ....if it wasn't for her I'd be back to drop another 500 on my brakes and continue with regular maintenance, however, i won't subject myself to such ridicule and humiliation, as a loyal, paying customer avoid this place by all means necessary. the west Seattle blog and bbb have been contacted. i gave one star due to her sweet husband and great work. come with cash if you want to bring your business here. read more
