Paid for two separate "diagnostics tests" adding up to almost $400 just for him to tell me everything that needed to get fixed isn't worth fixing. Whatever th that is supposed to mean. He also drew a bunch of circles on a little piece of paper trying to give me an imaginary understanding of what he seen and needing fixing, rather than taking actual photographs or videos as they mentioned was going to be shown to me so I can get an honest understanding of what I paid him to look at and such. lol this was a major scam and it's comforting to know there are still mechanics out there trying to make a difference with their professional opinion rather than waste someone's time to leave your car with them from open til close. The Worst, Most Traumatizing Experience I've Ever Had With a Mechanic I had my car towed to Sound Auto Care and brought my dad with me because, as a younger woman, I don't always feel safe or taken seriously at auto shops. After a week, they said the car was fixed and returned it to me. Almost immediately, I noticed a new noise coming from the engine--something that wasn't there before. I brought it back in, and instead of taking responsibility, Jeff told me nothing was wrong. Then he charged me $200 for an issue they didn't even diagnose. I had already paid $5,000, and when I calmly asked why I was being charged again, Jeff YELLED at me. I was alone in the shop, and it was terrifying. I felt completely disrespected, dismissed, and honestly unsafe. I was so shaken I just paid and left, in tears, because I didn't know what else to do. Months later, I found out they had installed the wrong-sized tray under my car--meaning the work I originally paid thousands for wasn't even done properly. This place is careless, dishonest, and hostile--especially toward women. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. If you value your safety, your money, or your peace of mind, do not take your car here. read more

I had my Jeep Grand Cherokee towed to Sound Auto Care and after a bunch of unnecessary extra diagnostic work (that I didn't ask for) they determined it was the diesel injection pump. They proceeded to over charge me for the repair and wanted to charge me another $500 just to replace some of the small rubber fuel lines. Furthermore, they refused to use a local diesel injection pump rebuilder (Seattle Injector Service that has been in business for over 80 years) because it wasn't on their list of "authorized" vendors. Do not patronize "Sound Auto Care" in SeaTac as their customer service was horrible and pricing way out of line. There is a lingering smell of diesel now that I'll have to track down since there is no way I'm taking it back there just to be treated poorly again. A bad experience all around which I deeply regret. read more

Sound Auto Care is over 2 hours away from my home and they are still my go to shop from now on! I brought my 2009 Sprinter Van into Sound Auto Care after 2 other shops, and ~$12K in repairs, failed to correctly diagnose and fix an exhaust trouble code that was causing the service required light to trip every ~100 miles. From my first contact, I could tell this shop was different -- and gave me hope. Jeff, my service advisor, carefully documented the full history and details I provided them with and laid out their plan for troubleshooting. Their inspection report was more thorough, detailed, and informative than anything I've received from the other shops. More importantly, their diagnosis made sense, given the vehicle history, and showed a level of expertise that the other shops simply did not have. They fixed the van quickly, for a fair price, and schedule a complimentary follow up to ensure everything (we did some leak repairs) is still as it should be. I had my brakes inspected by Sound Auto Care and they quoted $1800, $800 more dollars than Firestone. They also took 6 hours to inspect them and charged $86. Other shops only take a couple of hours for an inspection I scheduled for a week ahead of time. They won't give price estimates over the phone or put parts you bought youself on the car either. Luis is my go-to mechanic. The first time I called I knew exactly what was wrong with my car, and he gave me a quick and honest quote for what I needed, plus a worst case scenario quote. His prices are unbelievably good for the quality work that he does. He also makes a point to get in and out fast, not waste your money on excess labor charges. He is very knowledgeable and wants you to understand. As a woman it is sometimes hard to find mechanics who don't treat you like an idiot, and he exceeded in this category. He spent a lot of time telling me what went wrong, why it went wrong, and things to watch out for. I recommend taking your car here, because Luis is an honest and talented mechanic. Luis is a very thorough and talented mechanic that actually cares and wants to fix the problem: not just take your money and get you out the door. His diagnostic service is worth every penny and he takes the time to explain all problems along with their solutions. The job doesn't end when you drive away either- he did a lot of work on our van that involved replacing the computer so he asked that we come back after a week or so of driving to retest it to make sure everything is running perfectly. Start shopping around a few places for pricing before concluding that Sound Auto Care is a great place. Luis tends to sell you off on many additional services. I came to him with an oil leak problem because of the great review he got. I believed him and did as he told me. Costed me 600 plus and told me to come back in a month to check on the leak. You would not believe when I came back for him to make sure my care is fixed one month later because he claimed he wanted to make sure "he delivered the quality service", and...he starts selling me on more services. That's when I realized I cannot trust him. He put fear in you that your car is getting very high mileage (97 k) and parts will start to break down not thinking about whether it's worth putting the money in when he knows I am sure how much my car is worth. Do not let those people's great reviews about this place fool you. 6 months later, my car has radiator leak but I thought it was oil. Took it back to him to share a piece of my mind about his selling tactic and that my original oil leak was not completely fixed. He estimated 460 USD for radiator replace, including the pressure test of 59 USD. Knowing I can't trust him, towed it to Extreme Auto Works in Kent. They did the work for 285 including the pressure test for free with the radiator replacement service. Luis will tell you he has warranty for his part and his work, but how much more do you have to pay for warranty of two years while the part I got has limited warranty also. He likes to take photos and shows you and explains things to you, but how much do I know about cars to know whether he is a trustworthy person. Do not let people create the illusion of expertise to exploit your hard earned money. read more

I don't know much about cars so when I get my car diagnosed, I usually take it to three different shops so that I can compare and make sure that i'm not being cheated into making an unnecessary repair just for a sale. In the end, I always take it into Luis' shop because I think he is a very honest person and unlike other shop owners, he THOROUGHLY explains every component to me so I know what's wrong or how it's affecting my car. His team does their work diligently and extremely quickly. I took my car to a different shop previously and it took them ALL day to do an oil change and multi point inspection and told me that I would need to leave it for another whole day just to do the recommended repairs. I changed my mind about having them repair it and took it to Luis and he was able to diagnose other things and do all of it and have my car ready by the end of their business day which I greatly appreciated. I don't write many reviews but I had to for Luis because I believe we need more shop owners like him who know what they are doing and I can honestly say care about the quality of their work and not just their personal profits. I'd highly recommend coming to him if you need a repair whether it be big or small! read more

It was an emergency repair for my son traveling in the area. My son is very happy with communications and how fast the parts were found, starter replaced in 40 minutes only. I am not happy with the parts price. The starter cost around $50 and the shop charged $150. Labor was a little high, but it is OK in case of emergency. read more

Get an estimate from other companies before you use sound auto repair. I had work done and unfortunately found out later that I was Way overcharged. In addition I suspect that some of the work that he said I needed did not actually need to be done. He said I needed two break calipers replaced. Since then I've been told it is very rare that 2 calipers would need replacing. Based on the other yelp reviews it sounds like these guys are good mechanics but I definitely feel taken advantage of in terms of price. read more

My experience echoes one of the other reviewers--Luis has restored my faith in Seattle-area repair shops, after several years of nightmares experiences with multiple shops in the area. I stumbled upon Sound literally by accident--my truck broke down at the intersection in front of the shop--and Luis dropped what he was doing to get me back on the road again. Have been back since then every time one of my vehicles needs attention and would definitely recommend him to anyone.
