A diamond in the ruff- This place has some of the very best food in Carson City for a reasonable price. I know its hard to believe when you first walk in, but this place will not disappoint. My personal favorite (so far) is the Thai Chicken Salad and my favorite side are the sweet potato chips (which still stay crunchy for next day leftovers!) I recommend reviewing the specials board for at least 5 mins, because there's so many gooooodies! read more

This review is based solely on their food delivery to our group at Cigar Bar the other night. It was fairly late, but Lucas was up to the challenge of 6 separate orders. We got our food fast and fresh and everything was very good. Recently had our office party here. We reserved the back room which was given away before our party arrived. Oh well, it happens. We combined some tables up front and all sat together. Everything went great until food started coming out. Over about 15 mins everyone got their food but one person. We asked and they said it was on the way. So we waited and waited another near 20 mins. Still no food for her. The guy helping said she ordered later than everyone and that was why, except she was the second in our group to order. Then he brought out some tacos for somebody named Kirsten who was not in our group. When we objected and said no Kirsten here we were waiting on a burger he snapped at us to cut it out that we were all grabbing food and it was somehow our fault the burger was lost. He finally put in a rush order for the burger after several of us closed our tabs at the bar with the intent of leaving due to the issue. Her burger was delivered 35 mins after the last person in our group to get food. The service was poor and the staff was rude about the mixup. He didnt ever apologize for the mistake or take ownership of the issue. I will not be returning and I'm doubt many of my coworkers will either. read more

My boyfriend and I came here last night, and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the servers and attentive and friendly. The last time I was in this place was when it was Mo and Sluggo's. I had fun that night and last night was no exception. The band's were hot ,the beer was cold and the people were friendly. The band's play in the backroom now which is an improvement. My only complaint is the $7.00 charge for draft beer. Other than that I give them a 4.5!! I took a lot of pictures which I'll show and it's amazing how people react when you say your doing a review for yelp.(I'm such a name dropper). The new owners are kicking some serious a** on this place. New floors, furniture and paint while still keeping it dive-y, but in the very best sense of the word. Even the bathrooms have been redone. Now, on to the seriously good stuff: The owners of Sassafrass have taken over the kitchen. Think high-end taqueria, or at least that's what I was told when I came in and inquired. I'll be heading down there again in a few weeks to see what it's really about and will update then. Drinks are strong and cheap, the beer icy cold, and the music is the perfect mix of new and classic. The clientele is a mix of crusty old-timers who have clearly seen it through from the beginning, the younger, hipper crowd, and business people. Perfect for downtown. I give it five starts because it's all going in the right direction and I see lots of hope. I'm going to drag my friends from Reno into CC on Nevada Day and we'll definitely be hanging out for a few hours. read more

Mo & Sluggo's is open under new ownership with some big improvements. The interior was cleaned, painted, and redecorated and the bar is now a non-smoking establishment. The bar remains a great place to go for a drink and live music on Fridays. The food, provided by Tony's Taco Truck (operating within Mo's) is excellent. read more

Under new ownership & so much nicer! Tuesday taco night is really good. I was a little put off by having to pay for chips & salsa until they came - they give you four different salsas plus pico de gallo. Their habanero yam salsa is definitely worth paying for! It's super hot but you'll keep going back for more. Their tortilla chips are mediocre which is a bummer but overall, the food is really good, the servers are great, the cocktails are good & it's definitely worth the visit. They still have the pool table too and they added two dart boards. This place is definitely better under the new ownership. read more

I found this place recently after spending the day at Lake Tahoe and it definitely did not disappoint. A tiny bit of back story, I had been stranded on NV 28 after sundown for approximately 3 hours in the cold and in the midst of the wilderness before someone came to my assistance. Needless to say, after that ordeal I was ready for some food and a beer. I show up to Westside Pour House about an hour before it closed in hopes that they were still serving food. To my dismay they had closed down the kitchen but after hearing my story the bar owner, Lucas, was kind of enough to offer me his own dinner!! Customer service like this completely unheard of and to top it off this bar is Veteran owned. Last but not least, the bartender Kacey was very kind accommodating as well. I usually love this place. Don't know what happened today but things went south. Ordered favorite Penguin tacos with a wedge salad. Everything was fine until our food appeared on the counter for service. At that point there WAS none. After several minutes and an assurance from the server/waiter (not) that he would have our food to us right away, after several more minutes we had to go get our own food as well as silverware and napkins. The server seemed to be doing a lot of socializing. But to add insult to injury the tacos didn't have the cheese melted to the taco shell as is usual and there was no dressing on the wedge salad. We had to ask for some. When I asked the person doing the cooking for some dressing i noticed he WAS putting the cheese onto the taco shell. So inconsistent cooking as well. We had to ask for our own go boxes and the next time we saw the server was when he presented the bill. This is the worst experience we've ever had here. I came in from California and I was just looking for a place to play pool, I didn't mean to fall in love. The Pour House is a fun and cool bar. Luke made me a drink, exactly the way I like it, and an hour later he remembered exactly what I wanted, even though there was a bar full of people. Later in the night I got a chance to chat with the other bartender Katie. By then I was done drinking, but she beautiful and very friendly, she made me feel like I was the most important person in the bar. The pool tables were I'm very good condition, about what you would expect from a local bar. Everyone seemed to know everyone except me. But they treated me like a friend. A good bar is more than just the building and the decorations. It's the people! Katie, Luke, the DJ and the other patrons made my night! I had the best night out I have had in a while! I can't wait to come back to Carson City and go to "The Pour House" again! read more

Had lunch there today, first time after hearing good things. Bought a deluxe burrito with beef steak. It was big and hot to hold! 5 Stars for the hot food and size! However, the steak was dried out and over cooked some other time and not when I had ordered it. That's a big negative in my book. Just had lunch at the Westside Pour House, unfortunately. The bartender seemed drunk, even left his unfinished cocktail on our table when he got busy and just plain forgot it. The menu looked good but totally fell short when our burgers came out super well done after ordering them medium rare - rare. Didn't have some of the menu items as well. Nahhh. I'd rather go somewhere else where I'm not treated like a toddler. The vertically challenged, balding guy behind the bar was very demeaning. I don't feel welcome here at all. My husband and I have given this place a try several times now, typically on a Friday or Saturday but it just gets worse each time we go. The place itself is cool because it has pool tables, dart boards, a juke box and karaoke on Saturdays. The drinks can be cheap depending upon what you get, however, the interactions with people we have had here have not been good. We have experienced a lot of rude people that come to this place and not as friendly as you'd think they'd be, coming from this smaller city. People seem to be drunk early on and to the point of being obnoxious. Overall, cool place to go for what they have there but not for the people. read more

While in Carson City today, my good friend and I decided to try this what looked to be a little hole in the wall.(these are always the best) I'm a big cheese lover and look what's on the special menu today.... FRIED CHEESE CHEESE BURGER! I must have been a good boy this week...So Oscar and I ordered it up. I had it with the thick cut fries, of which they do themselves. Oscar also ordered this, he had it with the homemade potato chips. It took a min and we were wondering what was up she said they had to ground up fresh beef for the burgers.(It was well worth the very small wait) The burgers come out and WOW it was served on a potato roll. This is gonna be great. Opps I needed some ranch dressing, out it came. Everything was INCREDIBLE!!! Chef Tony and his staff know how to do it right. The waitress was very honest and here serves was GREAT!! Just about done and out comes the check...In an old fashion cigar box, open it up and there were Sweet tarts. Yup Sweet tarts. Wow what a super great lunch and service with a cool touch of differences. I come to Carson City once a week and its safe to say...Chef Tony and his staff will be feeding me every week.
