Situated on a property that dates back over 100 years and a perreniel favorite amongst the locals, Glen Eagle's is indeed a historic part of the Carson City's culinary scene. On this occasion, we were celebrating the birthday of a close friend. Our party of 10 had plenty of room in one of the back rooms with gorgeous views out the windows. We started the evening with a healthy round of appetizers, including Calamari, Roast Duck and a plate of Mussels. While I didn't partake in the Mussels, I will say the Calamari was good but the Roast Duck was truly amazing. Such great flavor, cooked to a tender doneness and topped with a sweet sauce. The bread roll that preceded the appetizers was something special. Warm and wrapped in paper, it was like opening a Christmas present. The bread was soft, warm and delicious. Seriously good. I ordered a Prime Rib, one of the evenings specials. It was a generous portion, served with potatoes and veggies. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly (Medium Rare ofcourse) with the right amount of marbleing and seasoning. This was perhaps one of the best, most flavorful Prime Ribs I have had in recent memory. My wife ordered the Macadamia Crusted Sea Bass. The fish was breaded and topped with the delicious Macadamia nuts. The fish was light and flaky with a wonderful outer snap. A perfect blend of textures and flavors. I would definitely order this again. My friends mother ordered the Lobster and Filet, Glen Eagle's version of Surf and Turf. I don't know if she realized just how big a 1 1/2 pound (24oz) Lobster really was. This thing was HUGE. Like some giant sea creature. The Filet while a generouse portion, looked puny by comparison. She said the Lobster was a amazing but in full transparency, most of it when home. :-) We had a big party and the restaurant was quite full by the time we left. This did not deter our server nor the bus staff. The staff was attentive, ensuring our waters and drinks were always full. With the orders of appetizers, it felt like there was a steady stream of food. Never felt like we ever waited. Every room has its own charm, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes the dining experience feel special. The staff were incredible friendly, welcoming, and attentive from the moment we arrived. The menu is impressive, but don't overlook the extensive list of specials. Portions are extremely generous. Everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The only reason for four stars instead of five was that the shrimp served with the halibut was overcooked, and the soup arrived only slightly warm rather than piping hot. The drinks were well made, there's plenty of convenient parking out front, and it's easy to see why Glen Eagles has remained a Carson City favorite for so many years. We've been twice...first time paid too much for a crap bottle of wine. Food was good and service was great from a kit that was obviously new but trying his best. This place always delivers some of the best food and service in the Carson Valley! We come here as often as possible but split our time between here and Stonefly in Markleeville. On this occasion, we were seated in a quiet dinning area to the left of the bar. Having our pick of tables, we selected the one next to a nicely lit China cabinet. Issac, the bartender, took amazing care of our table and made sure our glasses were never empty. The macadamia encrusted sea bass I had melted in my mouth and is one of the most delicious meals I've ever had the pleasure to eat...! My wife and I were celebrating her birthday weekend LOL and she selected the filet Mignon and also opted for the most delicious chocolate cake around...! The chocolate decadence cake (to eat much later at home...!) Glen Eagles portions are so huge, it's really hard to fit dessert in when done with a meal. I'm on a diet eating low carb meals so I stuck with that, but saying "No" to their fresh made piping hot bread left a tear in my eye...! Hardest thing to say...! Adult Night Out at Glen Eagle Grill was fantastic!! My husband and I had the best time. We eat and drank our faces off. We had the best time. The service was awesome! We ordered cocktails to start out with. I ordered a glass of champagne and my husband ordered an Old Fashioned make with Makers, very nicely made. We ordered an appetizer- escargot, it was buttery and garlicky with a spice that I'm not sure what it was but good. Our second course was French Onion soup and a caesar salad. For our entree, we ordered the Ribeye and Crusted Chilean Sea base. Bother were perfectly cooked with so much flavor. Finally, for dessert, we ordered lava cake and brownie Sunday. I feel like this is a solid 3.5-4 rating depending on how you order. The service is amazing, the restaurant itself is a bit dated but that can had to the charm depending on who you talk to. I recommend making a reservation, but you could get in after a short waiting depending on the time. We were sat and remediated given water and some warm bread with butter. The bread tasted homemade and was great. The bruschetta was served warm, I was not use to it but is tastes fantastic, it was the highlight of the meal followed my the salad for me. Cesar salad was great and I recommend upgrading to that over the house salad. My husband got the black bean soup which was another fantastic option. My salmon was not worth the price, it was very plain and standard as far as salmon meals go. My husband got the peppercorn steak that was perfect! Highly recommend getting that as it was cooked to perfection and warm throughout. For dessert my husband got coffee and swears it was a fantastic brew that he recommends. We made reservations on a last-minute whim with the whole family and had a great evening overall. The bruschetta with filet was absolutely amazing, and the Caesar salad continues to be our favorite--so crisp and fresh every time. My oldest son had the special soup of the day before his entree, New York steak chowder - which wasn't a bit hit, but no big deal. My youngest ordered the popcorn shrimp appetizer as his meal and it was more than enough for him, and he loved it. The only disappointment on the food side was that they ran out of linguine, which is my husband's favorite for the Roman's Pasta. This is what he always orders, every time, and the whole reason we went. Life happens, they ran out, nobody's fault. The angel hair substitute ended up a bit mushy, though the flavor was still there. On the flip side, my entrée on the specials list - the high priced Chilean sea bass with prawns and scallops--was perfection. Truly one of the best entrées I've ever had in my life, hands down worth every penny. Service from our young waiter was excellent--we caught a double charge mistake and he even offered dessert to make up for it, which we declined but appreciated the gesture. The only negative experience was with one hostess. My glass of Pinot Noir tasted stale, and well over poured, likely from the end of an older bottle. I've had this wine before, and loved it. Instead of offering a fresh pour, she suggested I order something else, which felt dismissive and came off slightly rude how she handled it. I know my wine, that glass was not fresh. So, I chose to pass on the wine for my meal. Combined with her casual baby pink colored pajama like attire and her demeanor, it didn't match the otherwise professional, polished feel of the restaurant and other well dressed staff. We already knew that we had to bring the Big wallet. This dinner was for our Son's Birthday. Since he is going into the USAF, Special Warfare, we wanted to give him a special send off meal. He had the New York steak. My other Son, also going into the USAF. had the Ribeye steak. My wife had the Salmon. I had the Chicken Marsala. Our young Men had Cheesecake for dessert. We finally made it to Glen Eagle's after years of having it on our "want to try" list. We came here for a date night and it did not disappoint. We arrived around 5:00 on a Thursday and didn't have reservations but the host promptly seated us in the tavern area which has the same menu as the main part of the restaurant. We were seated at a charming table near the fireplace. All of the staff were professional, friendly and happy to answer any questions we had about the menu. We ordered the Bruschetta and soup of the day which was a Chile Relleno for our starters. The soup was delicious and I would gladly order it again. For our mains we got the Kurobuta Pork Chops which was outstanding and the Macadamia Crusted Chilean Sea Bass. I don't usually enjoy pork but that night I asked my husband for a second bite of his chops because they were that good. We ended the meal with the Chocolate Decadence Cake which was delicious but very rich so we ended up taking half of it home. We decided to give this place a try after receiving two gift cards from a family member. We were pretty excited because we knew this was a high quality steakhouse. Glen Eagles is really easy to find and is set in a really pretty woodsy kinda of setting. It's even nicer as you walk in and sit down. We were seated at a table for two which was great since we were celebrating our anniversary. The back of the restaurant is very pretty and looks like it could be used for a wedding. The inside is very clean and rustic. We arrived at around 4:30 so it was early in the evening. We were seated by a really nice young lady who brought us water and gave us menus. We opted for some calamari as an appetizer and when our server arrived gave her our choices from the menu. My wife had the ribeye with veggies and a baked potato with sour cream and chives. I ordered the pecan encrusted halibut with vegetables and rice pilaf. We enjoyed the calamari and enjoyed the scenery as we waited for our food. I couldn't help but notice the young lady who seated us and how attentive she was to us and anyone in the dining room. We actually saw more of her than our actual server. Our food arrived shortly and looked ok. I was pretty excited to see how everything tasted. The vegetables were still kinda hard and hard to cut. But they tasted great. The rice pilaf I have to say was not very good. It' was pretty generic. My wife's ribeye was dry and not seasoned well at all. My halibut was amazing though. I didn't make a big deal out of anything bcz the meal was pretty good. Just not as spectacular as I was hoping. I mean to be honest we have had better food at some of the smaller casinos. Especially the ribeye. Pioneer Crossing in Dayton does a killer ribeye. So yea. For desert our server brought us a really nice cheesecake with fruit and a Happy Anniversary message on the plate. It was so nice and thoughtful of the staff. They didn't charge us for it. So overall I like Glen Eagles and I will be back to try some of their other items. Just bcz this wasn't the greatest meal experience doesn't mean the next one won't be good. I mean the staff is excellent and they're very friendly. Took my effect for a birthday dinner here. Good was really good but a few issues that prevented 5 stars. I called to make a reservation and told the person that I wanted a desert with her name written out saying Happy Birthday and they said no problem. We recieved out steaks but they forgot my mushrooms so we had to wait 15 minutes for them to prepare that as well as me wanting another glass of wine in which that took to long. Possibly shirt staffed. Last our food was good and we ordered a cheesecake to share and they forgot to do anything for my wife's birthday and acted like no one ever told them to write happy birthday on the plate. First I just say, if you're in Carson City and want a good place for dinner or a date or anniversary or birthday, this is the spot! It's a very cosy, classic, old school kind of place! Kind of like the old world steak houses of yesteryear. My neighbour/friend invited me here for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised! There was a top tap of four of us in the group for dinner. As soon as you walked in we were met by staff asking if we had been helped. We were seated within a few moments at a booth. The booth was plenty big for our party and they immediately brought warm sourdough bread and soft butter. The sourdough bread was delicious. I decided to order the special of the Ohhh which was 9oz filet with prawns, side of garlic mashed potatoes and salad. The salad had an amazing champagne vinaigrette dressing that made it taste so good. The steak was perfectly cooked however the prawns came out diced on top of the steak. Still was delicious but never seen it diced . The garlic mashed potatoes were so creamy and the veggies were good. We had ordered a bottle of wine as well to accompany our dinner. Others ordered NY strip steak, rack of lamb and chicken piccata. All the food looked delicious and a good amount of food. We didn't order any appetiser as the meals all came with sides and soup or salad. Everyone loved their meals and were plenty full at end of dinner. We decided to share the chocolate cake and the slide was huge! It was made of dark chocolate which was awesome as it wasn't too sweet. It paired amazing with the red wine we had (Malbec). I will say for Carson City this place is a bit expensive, but for the amount of food and quality it's totally worth it. Our service was also impressive, our server was super amazing and attentive. There is also a very nice bar inside to hang out and get drinks!! Parking is ample either a large lot located in from of restaurant. Let's start out with the good. Easy reservation. Prompt seating. Attentive wait staff. And a warning as my bottle of wine was spotted. You are aware of our $50 corkage fee? I thought I misheard $15, but then I saw it on the menu. We both had steaks, the were cooked correctly to our preference, but I would have to say the NY strip I had was just ok as far as quality. Duke's prime steaks are the same price, but better. CV steak does a better steak than both at a little more than 1/2 the price. They were out of baked potatoes, so rice was the choice of side. Drinks were potent, and tasty. I am usually ok with a corkage fee, but feel it should be based on whether drinks are ordered or not. Dessert was tasty as well. But back to the $50 corkage. This will stop us from coming back as we have an extensive wine collection, and like to bring those to high end restaurants. read more

Organic salad Scallops with rice pilaf - The absolute most delicious and huge scallops wrapped in Prosciutto that I have ever enjoyed, tender and the pesto sauce was perfect! New York Steak - Huge and grilled to perfection. Chicken Piccata - Perfectly prepared, the caper sauce was special. Silk Pie - Wow, just wow...HUGE slice...not too sweet, pecan crust was fantastic - this was truly special and delicious! Great service. It was before the plague hit that was when last I was here at Glen Eagles. Back then they had a lunch menu and a bar menu with appetizers like fried chicken wings. They were the best, but NO MORE .... now we're just left with a smaller dinner menu and open just 4 days a week for 5 hrs a day. Lucky, the food and service are still top notch. With limited dining hours, you gotta make a reservation. I got in at opening at 4pm when it wasn't crowded and we had the full attention of the staff and kitchen cooks. We got a nice seat by the window to the courtyard. If you're not used to higher end fine dining, you'll notice the step up in service skills, like not talking plates from the wrong side of the table and knowing which utensils are used for what ... stuff like that. The kitchen skills are a step above say a casino coffee shop, just the way the food is presented and cooked perfect. With the array of desserts offered, there must be a dedicated pastry chef on duty here. Such delicate and amazing desserts! We started with the bruschetta appetizer. This is one of the best value appetizers on the menu. ($10.50) This is an amazing rendition, assembled with such skill it was beautiful as it was tasty! See pics. For entrees, my friend had the Halibut topped with crab, scallops and shrimp in a Thai spicy sweet sauce. It all worked perfectly together. I had the Kurobuta Pork Chops served with a baked potato and veggies. I've never had this "Kurobuta" pork chop before. It's a different heritage breed than what pork in the US is normally. It's like the Wagyu of pork! MY first bite ... OMFG! was that different and so good. More tender than a normal pork chop and the flavor was more pronounced. Now regular pork is boring! Get this if you come here to Glen Eagles. It was one of the least expensive items on the menu as well! ($34) The house Merlot was exceptional for a house pour at $8/glass. For dessert, we shared the Crem Brulee', OMG was that one fthe best versions I ever had, so smoooooth and delicate and the sugar was torched perfect with no bubbles, just smooth perfectly done. This isn't a cheap place, more of special occasion, unless you're way rich, they you might just come whenever. Steaks are a little pricy, but the pork ... just get that! read more

To celebrate an early Valentines dinner we chose Glen Eagles. I had one of the specials, Jack Daniels encrusted pork chops. It was without exaggeration the best pork chops I've had in decades. They were grilled and yet maintained a juicy texture. I think it was the sauce that kept them from being dry and difficult. I enjoyed them immensely. The included sides were crunchy al dente vegetables and some nice wild rice. Oh, and the soup of the day was Chili Relleno. It was something new to me and it was excellent. My daughter-in-law had the king salmon and my cousin ordered appetizers for her dinner; oysters and calamari. My cousin is from half Moon Bay and said it was really very good calamari. We had an 8pm reservation, showed up about 5 minutes early and weren't even acknowledged for several minutes. At one point one of the staff members thought we were waiting for a to go order. We finally got to our table. We ordered a bowl of the Soup de Jour, and bruschetta. The bruschetta appetizer was delicious- the best thing I had during our visit! We never got our soup. We both got the peppercorn steak, one medium and one medium rare. Both were way overcooked and we left disappointed. The peppercorn sauce on the steak was tasty and so was the Caesar salad I got. Took my hubby here for his birthday last night. We were early so we sat at the bar. Bartender was great but he was by himself and was working his butt off. The hostess needs to dial it down in her loudness and needs to dress appropriately for a steakhouse. She was arguing with the other hostess in front of all of us. My husband had the chilean sea bass that was undercooked and the macadamia crust was soggy. I had the petit filet mignon that was dry and tough that I had difficulty cutting thru it. Extremely disappointed to say the least. The vegetables came with no butter and I requested it and it came cold and hard. The female staff with the black hair came over and ask can I bring you anything else? I replied yes how about some butter that I can spread on my vegetables? She came back asked how is this? And then i couldn't believe my eyes, she put her finger on the butter and pushed down and said" oh it's still a little hard and walked away saying " Oh Well!" I told her for over $50 a plate I expected better than this! The waitress noticed something was up came over and asked if everything was ok and I replied not really!!!!!!! She went and got some melted butter. To wrap this all up we won't be coming back! I wished I would have trusted my instincts and had gone to Dukes! The Owner reached out and offered us a gift card to come try them again. It was a much better experience this time. 1st, our waitress was Cindy, and she was really excellent. Was always there exactly when you needed her. Very pleasant. We were seated in the 1st dining area in a quaint back corner which was really nice. I do not know the name of the gentleman that takes care of bread, water refills etc, but he was also very pleasant. On to the food. They always start you with the bread and butter, forgot a pic of it. It is very crusty outside and tender on the outside. Hubby ordered the escargot. This was the 1st minor issue. They were not hot at all, he had eaten one before knowing this, had to send them back. They returned the same dish a few minutes later hot, still missing the 1 escargot that was eaten cold. Not sure if they threw it in the microwave or what, but he still enjoyed them. We got oysters on the half shell, which to our surprise were very plump and juicy. Now we moved from TX, so we have always been brought crackers as that's how we eat them there. The gentleman kind of looked at us funny when we asked for some. But all in all, they were so delicious. I ordered the smoked trout off the appetizers for my main meal, Now that was an excellent dish. The accoutrements were fantastic that came with it. Large caper berries, small dill pickles, blackberries, raspberries and purple onion, cheese and crackers with a small salad under it all and the smoked trout. I will return for this dish alone. Make a lil topper cracker with everything. YUMMMM Hubby ordered the Pasta Neptune on the build your own pasta: which comes with white wine, capers, dill, garlic and fresh lime. He chose the linguini as his pasta. It was really good, as you know we had to taste each others. My only critique on this dish is there were so many capers. I am guessing about 80 in this one bowl of pasta. We love capers, but this was quite an overabundance of them, but the sauce had a wonderful flavor. The pasta dish came with a soup or salad, he went with the salad with added blue cheese crumbles. It was such a beautiful presentation. Also had some sliced mandarin oranges on it. I stole those lol I am only giving the 4 stars, due to the escargot situation. All in all vs our 1st visit, this one was so much better. Called and made a reservation last Monday for Valentines day and never received any sort of confirmation text or anything so called the restaurant today on the 13th and now they are claiming they have nothing and are fully booked. EXTREMELY upset over this as obviously this was reserved in advance and they can't hold up their side and they have no accountability. After a month, Glen Eagles continues to impress us! We celebrated my husband's birthday there, and it was an outstanding experience. I want to give a special shout-out to our incredibly hardworking waitress, Charity, and her diligent busser, Lucas. Despite the restaurant being packed, they navigated the hustle and bustle with grace and efficiency. Probably one of the best placed to dine in Carson City! I would constantly come here for dinner if I could fit it in my schedule as often as possible. Just stepping in you felt welcome right away, providing you made reservations, the manager met us and directed us to our table promptly. I did manage to see the menu board before getting seated and the menu is quite extensive. I pretty much decided immediately what I wanted off the menu board, they had ossobuco, if that was not available then I also saw rack of lamb. I would have had to go review the menu board if neither was not available, so the secret is to come often and early. They brought water and bread and butter almost immediately, the bread was pretty darn good. I opted for a salad instead of the soup, I requested their bleu cheese crumbles with their vinaigrette dressing on the salad, that was the most delicious dressing I have had, most restaurants use a creamy type dressing when it comes to a bleu cheese dressing which they also had but this vinaigrette bleu cheese dressing is by far tastier. We also shared a fried calamari appetizer, I will try their green lipped mussels the next time. I like calamari or better yet octopus better because of the tentacles. The lamb shank ossoboco was super yummy, it was tender and not over powered with other seasonings. I'm reminiscing, back in the day I would easily have finished three of those lamb shanks and larger ones than what I was served, but that was when I had a much bigger appetite. The multiple dining areas was spaced well enough so you can enjoy the company you are with and not noisy. I will be coming back soon. read more

Horrible ,from the rude hostess, to the inexperienced server/bus person. the server and bus person were not trained properly, they were nice enough but rushed us through the apps, salads, and entree. We weren't even half way through the app and the salads came. My wife was still eating and they wanted to clear the entree. The food has gone way down hill. Service horrible, food below average. The room was lite up like a grocery store and you could barely hear the music, all you could hear were other peoples conversations. Will not be back. read more
