Ease of rental, and getting out onto the water could not have been better! Disappointed when we lost an hour of our half-day rental when we could not restart the boat. When we explained what happened to Guy, he dismissed it as we did not have the motor locked in neutral. We could not confirm if we did or not, but we could confirm that we spent an hour fixing the ignition barrel, which was loose, dropped into the wire compartment, needed a Phillips to get into the compartment but there were no tools on the boat, went in through the cup holder to find three wires were disconnected but not wanting to short out anything, waited for a Good Samaritan and experienced boater who passed by to give advice on connecting the wires correctly (No phone service to call Guy in the cove we were in). Wires connected, ignition barrel tightened and secured, and we were on our way, but lost a whole hour of our half day rental with no apology or compensation for an entire hour off of our rental. Guy was in a hurry to get to his next customers who were waiting, but said he would check the boat later, and was off. read more

We rented the chaparral last week and we had a blast!! The whole process was flawless... we had to meet at their office which is about 2 miles from the lake and pay. Once we were done we followed Nick (one of the drivers) to the lake and he was true gentleman and helped us load the boat with our coolers and dropped the boat in the water. So i booked a boat (Bayliner DX I believe) on 5/20 for a reservation for 6/26. I was called about 2 weeks after renting it with the company telling me that someone had rented the boat and really messed it up so it was heading to the shop and would not be available for my rental date, no problem right. So they set me up to get on a different boat(Yamaha SX230 HO Red). I thought wow this company really knows what they are doing and are being proactive to make sure we have a good rental experience. But boy was I wrong..... Got a call on 6/23(3 days before my rental) with them telling me "I don't know what we were thinking, that boat is in the shop and we won't have it back for a couple weeks" So now I am without a boat 3 days before my rental and I have 6 people flying in from out of town that thought we would be enjoying the lake on Saturday. On top of this I have already paid $500+ in order to get transportation for the group to and from Lake Pleasant. They did not offer any type of resolution other than to move the day, which does not work since my friends have to fly out Sunday. So be aware if you rent from this company they might cancel on you 3 days before your rental. read more

Guy was extremely accommodating and informed me of a possible issue starting, but it was a simple issue and did not bother us one bit. We have a second home in AZ and thought we would add another fun activity to our itinarary while visiting. Guy was great to work with, very professional. Rented a ski boat and loved Lake Pleasant. Clean, wild donkeys with babies grazing in various coves, perfect water temperature in September, Saguaros, and perfect day. Would recommend this company to our friends. I created a Yelp account specifically to review this company. I have never felt so strongly about an experience to write a review before this so please take the time to read this review prior to using this company. My wife purchased a half day speed boat rental through Westside Recreation for my 30th birthday over this weekend (8/26). This is how our experience went: We had a party of ten and the boat that we reserved was supposedly under maintenance and they would call us back to confirm that the boat was going to be available for our trip and if not we could adjust our reservation and party size. They never called us. We had to call them to confirm. Day of trip: We arrive promptly at 7:30 am to check in for the boat rental. They didn't have our paperwork ready and had to get the boat ready as well. We don't get into the water until roughly 8:30 am. Already 30 minutes of our trip wasted because of their negligence. When we got in the water we noticed that the gas tank said half full, the employee dropping us off told us the gauge was broken and fluctuates, don't worry about this... At 9 am the check engine light turned on... not a big deal but just another issue to worry about while trying to enjoy our day. We drove the boat for roughly an hour and a half. We drove 20 minutes out, parked the boat and turned it off. From there we spent two and a half hours swimming and messing around. That leaves us with roughly an hour and 10 minutes left on our time, during this time we drove around and used the inner tube which was a blast as long as a 50 lbs kid was being towed... These boats have no power. After about 40-50 minutes we got gas and went back to be picked up at the dock. Called at 12:00 and did not get an employee on the other line till roughly 12:20. We sat around the docking area for 45 minutes till they could finally get to us. All this being said, the company told us they would be there at 12:30 unless we called early and wanted to be picked up. When we finally got a hold of them at 12:20 they told us that we were supposed to have called them 20 minutes prior to pick up in general. Lot of mixed messages. The employee that picked us up didn't seem to know what he was doing either. He had issues getting the truck positioned for the boat to approach the trailer. And one of our guys had to get out and instruct him how to do this. Upon dropping us off at our cars the employee said we were good to go. And that the boat looked in good condition. We told him that we filled up at scorpion bay and forgot to get a receipt but that an employee at scorpions bay said to have them call up if there is any questions and they will answer them. The employee at Westside Recreation said that was no problem and we were good to go. Now, when we filled up the gas tank we filled the gas pump in until the pump clicked and shut off. We paid roughly $10 for gas and thought wow that was cheaper than expected. But also didn't think we drove the boat too much either. Next day: When receiving an e-mail with our summary of charges, there was an additional $96 charge with no explanation. We called the company and they stated that it was a refueling fee because we did not refuel the boat. We told this employee that we did in fact gas up the boat until the gas pump shut off and that their employee the day before said that it was good to go. Also informed him of previous employees telling us about the broken gas gauge and that Scorpion Bay had instructed them to call should there be any issues. The employee on the phone said that they could possibly refund us the $25 refueling fee, then changed this to $15, even though their e-mail says they charge $25 for the refueling. He then said that he needed to contact another driver in order to get the issue resolved. He also told us that just because we filled it up does not mean that we filled it up all the way; again, we filled it up until the gas pump clicked and stopped filling as their gas gauge is broken so how were we supposed to rely on that? He lead us to believe that this is not their problem. In the conversation he stated "it's only $96, it's not that big of a deal"; however, it is a big deal when we have already paid for the gas. Based on our experience, and reading similar experiences from other Yelp reviewers, we would not recommend this company for a boat rental. It feels as though they are trying to take advantage of people through the fact that they have faulty equipment. read more

I had a very positive experience with Perfect Boat Rentals. I had spent hours doing google searches to figure out which lake we wanted to visit and which boat rental companies during our visit to Phoenix. Once I settled on Lake Pleasant, I had contemplated just renting from the marina for convenience since I didn't have ability to tow a boat. But Perfect Boat Rentals' pricing was attractive, so I figured it couldn't hurt to send an information request via the website. Guy called me back same day to discuss and spent time to walk me through the options and how the process worked. His level of customer service and the fact that he would deliver the boat and set us right in the water sealed the deal. On the day of, the process was quite smooth. The pontoon boat we rented was way nicer and larger than I had envisioned in my mind, even with the photos I had seen on the site, and we LOVED the fact that it had a bimini top (full covering over the boat) vs the half tops that the marinas rent out that explose half the boat to the punishing sun. We threw all our stuff on the boat, jumped in, and then Guy jumped on to walk us through boat operation and location of everything (he even supplied a tube). After we got all oriented, he drove us down to the boat ramp and plopped us in the water. And we were off. We had a fantastic time, all 10 of us (4 adults and 6 children ages 4 through 7) the sound system on the boat was great, and we had a blast tubing, even with the 4 and 5 year olds. We had never done the tubing thing before, and initially had an issue with the tube wanting to flip over or partially submerge, but we just changed the way we tied the rope (ran the rope down through the top of the hole instead of up through the bottom of the hole), and then it worked perfectly. They cancelled our weekend reservation less than 24 hours beforehand. They said our reserved boat had been damaged by a previous renter and their other boats had been damaged as well. Very disappointing (and somewhat unbelievable), as we had planned this as a family birthday outing...but hey, they offered us a refund on our deposit (duh) and 15% off a future rental. So generous of them! I get that unexpected things happen, but I think a last minute cancellation deserves a little more than a 15% discount on a future purchase. read more

It is a fun plan but I would recommend other rental place! We arrived today at the "office" (small trailer, hard to find) 12:40 for our rental at 1:00. After signing all the paperwork we were informed the previous group left late and will be arriving 1:30...waited in the dock until 2:15 pm (yes 1:15 mins...)...5 mins after they docked we were hush into and left...this is what we got: -Gauges (speed and fuel) not working -Spring to keep the cover of the engine broken - After battling to keep the cover up with my shoulder, while pulling out the bimini top, it was broken! The support barts split in the middle..so no shade all afternoon. - out of the 4 life jackets (we were 5) just one worked.. - battery was dead..so they had a starter and I had to jump the freaking boat each time Inshut down the engine to avoid cuts with the propeler...with 3 kids tubing thay is a lot of times! - diving flag broken. My wife duty was holding the flag up...not a happy wife. - One of the skis boots was loose. So we coucouldn't use the skies we paid for - Propeler in bad shape. I had to put almost full gas to get some initial push - arrived 6:15 sharp to the dock..nobody to receive the boat. Called them twice. The guy was "in line" and made it to the ramp 7:15...no helpers, so I had to stay even longer to help him put the boat on the trailer! Given it 2 stars because at the end kids had fun...but I came back more stressed ! read more

We had the afternoon reserved and the renters before us were late. As a result, we were 45 minutes delayed in getting the boat. It was frustrating to be standing in a parking lot waiting for the boat to arrive. West side offered to let us keep the boat over the 4 hours but our schedule did not allow. The boat had difficulty getting into neutral making it unsafe for people to use the back ladder. Because of the transmission problems, the boat never reached its full cruising speed. It always seemed to be struggling. The floor was really dirty. Our towels that were dropped on the floor ended up brown. Additionally, there was no flag to signify someone was in the water. The price was better than the marina however it may be worth the extra $100 to rent directly from the marina. read more

My family and I are so excited. We just made reservations to rent the biggest baddest pontoon boat they have "AGAIN". It is the exact same boat we rented last summer. Being a water guy I always expect issues with water toys. Let me tell you, there were NONE !!! Westside must take peoples vacations very seriously by keeping the maintenance up on their boats because we had a great time with no issues. The customer service from the time we meet at their office to sign the paperwork to the time they pick up the boat at the launch ramp is 2nd to none. Bought their Groupon for Jet Skis. We could not book them for any day as they had oversold Groupons and did not have enough Jet Skis. Had to request refund from Groupon and go through lots of trouble to get Groupon Bucks which would expire in 24 hours. So disappointing! read more

Our ATV reservation was cancelled without notification. After several calls, they substituted a boat rental. When we arrived for this reservation, there was no record of it in their system. It took almost two hours to straighten this out. The boat they gave us was beat up, poorly equipped, and dirty. They used a piece of duct tape as a fuel cap. We found out the fuel gauge didn't work because it indicated full when we picked up the boat and didn't move after our four hour rental. They took advantage of this malfunction and charged us for 31 gallons of fuel...impossible! They made promises they couldn't keep and mistakes that they covered up with excuses. We have two helpful tips. Tip number one, don't rent a boat in a desert. Tip number two, definitely DO NOT rent from this company. read more
