Although this vet has its own lot, its employees take up all parking on the street. We (two houses down) are the only house for several blocks without a driveway. I can't get a disabled space because my mother isn't living with me full-time, just half-time. We told this to the receptionist who insists on parking in front of our house, and her response was, "Oh, well... it's public parking." I'm sure that gives my 83-year-old mother a lot of comfort when she has to stop her walker and rest three times, in the rain, on the way from the car to the house. Every other house on the street has street parking available that they don't use. The vet has an entire lot. This is piss-poor community relations. Feel free to check all of the subpar reviews on their vet capabilities, too. I have three furbabies, but after reading those reviews I opted for a vet 20-minutes away. read more

I had the worst experience. First of all the person who is at the front desk is rude and mean every time I call. When I took my dog there my baby was having seizures. The doctor was rude, inconsiderate and heart less. That doctor asked me about 5 times if he got into any drugs. I told her over and over no. I was so devastated. I had to put My baby down and they could careless. Then the part that made it worse the other person at the front desk was only concerned about a payment. Just throw the entire staff away. Please stay away from this vet. I lost my best friend ( my cat) to Dr. Distephans. The first time I took my cat there in 2016 for her initial check-up and vaccines, I asked about what vaccines she gave my cat. When she didn't mention distemper, I asked if she was going to give her a distemper shot, and she rudely said no. I asked why, and she said because it's a virus and she isn't showing any signs that she needs to be vaccinated for distemper. I then said to her that is why we give vaccines to help prevent the virus, and she said she'll be ok. I should have walked out and never looked back at that point, but I didn't. Fast-forward to 2022. I took my cat in for an exam and told Dr. Distephans that she was not the same cat anymore. She asked me to explain. I told her that she (my cat) was lethargic, not eating like she used to, and having some trouble eating and breathing at the same time. She did not want to play, and she was at times aggressive with me. I told her she is not in any way an aggressive cat and very... before I could finish, she cut me off and said we need to prescribe some GABA Pentin to calm her down. I said ok, but what about all the other things going on, and she said, well, she's just getting older, it's normal. I said she is only 6 years old. She gave her a clean bill of health and sent us on our way. Again, I should have gone somewhere else, and I didn't. Three weeks later, she became very sick, and I had to rush her to the ER (Catonsville Veterinary Hospital, don't get me started with those people as well), and they did nothing to help my cat. I then made an appointment the next morning to see Dr. Distephans, and she needed x-rays and several enemas. She almost died that weekend because of the ER, but I was grateful that Dr. Distephans saved her. I asked her when she called if she should do blood work to find out what's going on, and she said no, I think you just need to brush her more and keep an eye on her. I told her about her getting sick and vomiting bile a few times a month, and she would always say I need to brush her more. I even called twice about her vomiting, and she would just say the same thing about brushing her. Fast-forward to 2023. I take my cat in for her exam, and I tell Dr. Distephans she is still not right, and she says very little. She always seemed to have an attitude. She gave my cat another clean health exam and sent us on our way. Three weeks later, my cat became very sick again, and I was able to get a Saturday appointment. When I got there, she asked what was going on and I told her it's the same issue as last time, she is not using the litter box for almost two days, and not eating. She said well, I am not going to do an X-ray, we'll just give her some enemas and get her going again. She seemed rushed about everything. She came out a while later and said she has not pooped yet but, that could be because she is nervous. She said to take her home and give her a day, and if she doesn't have a movement, get her to the ER. Monday morning my cat still had not pooped and the ER I called the night before urged my to just take her to my normal vet. So, that morning, I called and got a late morning appointment. I got a call back a few hours later from Dr. Distephans that she (My cat) needed to go to the ER ASAP. It would cost about $2000.00 to $3000.00 just for the surgery, and that didn't include the aftercare. I could not afford it, and I had to say goodbye to my best friend of 7 years. My point to all of this is that if Dr. Distephans had done something sooner and listened to me carefully, maybe, just maybe, my girl would still be here today. It's been almost two years, and her death still bothers me today. I am the one in charge of my cat's health care, and I didn't change doctors when I should have. The only good thing I can say is that Dr. Distephans did allow me to be with my cat when she took her last breath. Please don't make the mistake I made; just stay away from here. read more

Westview Animal Hospital has been a disappointment after more than 20 years servicing 2 family pets. My 94 year old mom just had her companion dog put to sleep by them. They not only up charged her over $800.00 + dollars to put him down. For the last few years they let the health of her pet grossly detereate to were her pet could barely walk. The prior month to 45 days they knowingly gave her pet a healthy false checkup report. Giving my 94 year mom a false sense of reality of the condition of her pet companion. Instead of being honest and straight forward with her. They chose the path of increasing revenue at any means. Which she paid them over $200.00 + dollars as well for that false report. So please beware of this revenue strategy by Westview Animal Hospital. The worst part is now they are hiding behind a Corporate shield trying to justify their unsavory practices. 1 Star rating. read more

$1200 to extract 2 of my cat's teeth! ($475 for cleaning and x rays, and $700 for the 2 extractions). The initial office visit was $90 plus , and with the pre op labs, the bill was $398. They drew a lab without clearing it with me ahead of time that was over $100. No written estimate ahead of time. Had to call them to ask about price of the surgery. As my cat is on the table under anesthesia, the vet calls to tell me (before he started) that it would be $1500 to extract 3 teeth. How did he come to this price? Feels like he arbitrarily threw out a number. Under pressure, I agreed but I called back 15 minutes later to question it and was told by the rude office manager " Andy" that " that is just how it is, and it costs what it costs. We can stop the surgery if you want." That was his solution. I got a copy of my cat's records and won't be going back to be over charged again. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICES! I took one of my cats there for a general check-up. The vet lady, said this: "I would like to draw blood from him to do a lab test." as she continued to talk, I never gave her the okay, or my consent, and she went ahead and drew blood from him. When I checked out at the front desk, surprised!, $366. I never authorized the lab work, but I figured it needed to be done. One week later I toot my kitten (7 weeks old) for a general check-up, and after all the bullshit talk, she goes ahead and does the same thing in a private different room, drew blood from him when he is so small, and this time I expressed my disappointment, because I never authorized it. Bottom line is: they are deceitful, dishonest, never clear up front with the customer. I addition, they are never prompt, I waited over 40 -45 minutes for my appointment. The front desk is bad, lots and lots of misinformation, rude and unfriendly lady. read more

We've been taking our English Bulldog here since we got him (3 years). The female vet (short) is normally mean and short. She says he needs to lose weight without giving us a number. He needs to be heavily medicated to go in and still has difficulty. Anytime we have an issue, they talk about his weight and his palette (he needs a $3,000 surgery) which is unrelated to all of the issues we bring him in for. Recently, it's been hair loss and they've said "allergies" and that's it. It got so bad that we took our pup to a different vet while we're away for thanksgiving and he told us in one visit that he 1) had allergies and gave us medication 2) told us he could do the surgery but our dog didn't really need it 3) gave us an actual number of how much weight he needed to lose and 4) did the ENTIRE visit without our pup being medicated. Did I mention that this was his FIRST time going to this new vet? Safe to say we would rather drive an hour away to go to this new vet than drive 2 minutes to go to Westview. service went from great to poor in a matter of one year. dr. distephan was the most professional, as she assisted in the health of our american bull dog from the very start as a 3 month old puppy. i only wish she continued providing for him dr cohen was average, from the beginning he was afraid of our 1 year old puppy. he was very timid and was hesitant to preform any services for the dog. he basically hid behind himself from the view of our dog. we had to constantly distract him when any needles/injections were administered. dr. felter was below average. she was not really as caring as dr. distephan. she was very rough when it came to our puppy. she labeled the dog as aggressive during the visit in may, june, and october. she falsified his records as to keep us from going to another vet hospital. read more

I contacted Westview before I even scheduled an appointment to find out how much they charge for these services, they replied with a total of $159.50, which was the second lowest out of 15 veterinarians, but I ended up being charged $287.90 for my visit today. During my dogs exam I was asked by Dr. Susan Felter if I had any concerns and I told her my dog has some small patches of fur missing on her ears and that she had a small bump on one of them. I didnt know my concern would add up to so much extra cost or I would have kept my mouth shut, my dog has had this issue before and it's cleared up on its own. Without discussing price or even asking me the veterinarian charged me for a "Cytology in house @ $43 and Tresaderm 7.5ml @ $34.40." I was also told my dog is due for a parasite test, I was given a stool cup and told to bring it back whenever, they never even asked me if I wanted it done but they sure charged me $34 for it. Also, I was told the annual exam would only cost $66.50 and they charged me $83.50 instead. I should have argued about the price, I wanted to refuse to pay them but I didn't, I just swallowed the lump in my throat and paid the bill. Needless to say I'll be looking for another veterinarian and I suggest anyone who doesn't have unlimited cash to do the same. I haven't been working very much the last 2 years because of COVID, which is why I wanted to know exactly what I would be charged before going here. Update: I was about to administer the Tresaderm ear drops when I noticed a warning on the label stating "If you detect any hearing loss in your pet during use of this drug stop using it immediately and call our hospital." The veterinarian never discussed this medication with me or I would have refused it. The veterinarian couldn't say for sure that my dog had an ear infection but she was willing to sell me a $34 bottle of ear drops that may or may not help and could possibly cause more harm than good. The instructions the veterinarian gave me calls for over 15 drops of this every day for 10 - 14 days but the bottle is so small it won't last a week at 15+ drops a day. Apparently this veterinarian likes to milk every dollar she can out of her clients. read more

The staff is absolutely awesome and I will never forget how they treated my pets and me when the time came for euthanasia. Here's my experience with Westview. We've taken our dog and cats here for their entire lives. Mistakes have happened over the years, screwing up de-worming medicine, etc. I get it, mistakes happen. That being said, we'll be finding a new vet after our recent experience. Our pup ripped a nail out of his back paw. Couple days went buy, and I called Westview because I was concerned. We had kept it clean and covered, but noticed that it had started to swell and redden. We called Westview 4 hours before they closed. The first person on the phone told us that it sounded serious and we needed to get him in as soon as possible. I told her that I needed to check to verify that we could do that, and I would call her right back. 5 minutes later I called back, a different person told me that they didn't have anything. They were completely booked. I called back again, incredulous, and asked if they could squeeze him in for ten minutes, that we were very concerned. She told me it didn't sound like a big deal, and we could make an appointment in two days. I expressed my displeasure and was assured that the office manager would call me back on Monday. It's Wednesday, still no phone call. The following evening, we ended up at the Emergency vet. $698 later, with a very sad, very drugged up puppy dog, I really wish that Westview would have cared about our concerns, our dog, and helped us out. I've never had an experience like that. My parent's vet goes above and beyond for them. My old vet in Salisbury had me bring my cat in when I was the least bit concerned. I get that people get busy and things get crazy, but a ten minute check could have saved us a lot of time, pain, and money. Based on that experience, I would not recommend Westview for primary veterinary care and definitely not for last minute care. read more

I've been taking my pups to Westview for 15 years. Though there is a vet only 3 minutes from my house, and from what I hear, his prices are lower than Westview-it's worth the few extra miles, time and even money to know my fur babies are getting the best of care. Whether for routine care -wherein he drs have always taken the time to answer any and all questions I have; or for an acute illness, I know that Dr. Cohen and the other doctors have only my pups' best interest at heart. When my 16 wk old beagle decided a few days ago that eating a rock and a piece of brick was a fun idea, he suffered a partial blockage. Dr. Graddy took care of the problem surgically and gave him the best of care. She, and the rest of the staff as well, also did a great job reassuring me. When my beagle baby boy was not doing so well immediate after surgery, she saw him two separate times the next day in order to treat his needs.
