Definitely worth a trip to Westwego LA! We picked up fresh shrimp, a sack of oysters, a dozen crabs, and a few pounds of alligator. They have it all, and price was a lot cheaper than grocery stores near the house. It was a fun experience and we will be going back soon.

Steamed #1's. Weesiana folks don't like steamed anything. Gotta be burled lol. Aka boiled.

I live for this seafood marketplace. Let me tell ya, coming from Florida and Maryland where you spend an arm and a leg for seafood, you'll appreciate this place right here. I literally side eye folks complaining about $6 per pound for shrimp. Go to the Wharf in DC where it's $17 per pound and Bowie, MD where it's $72 for a half pound of #1's. So when I come, I only go to Ms. Dee at Dee's Seafood. Her products are fresh, of excellent quality and great prices. Mostly everyone has good stuff out there but I stick with the one who can get me what I want. Below are the biggest shrimp we've gotten so far from her at only $6lb and her crabs are always meaty. If you haven't been, whatcha waiting on. Check'em out!!

Awesome place to get fresh Gulf Shrimp, Crawfish, Local catch and Crabs! The vendors are all so friendly and locations very clean! Most of them do pack for travel!

Beautiful Gulf shrimp like this were only $3.75 a pound in October 2023.

What more can I say than: "if fresh Gulf shrimp right off the boat is what you're looking for, this is the right place for you. They have live crabs and fish too, as well as oysters by the sack, or shucked by the pint, quart, or gallon.

Fresh seafood galore! Westwego Shrimp Lot is known for their seafood because they have an abundance of it! There might have been over 20 market stalls lined up on the gravel parking lot. Some stalls were closed, we were told that there were no crabs for sale that day. Almost all of them sold shrimp, but there was also fresh fish and oysters. Not sure if all of them do but some accept credit cards. Gulf shrimp of all sizes dominates the market. The largest shrimp are the most expensive. Stopped by K&B Seafood Mart and spoke to Shelly. Friendly and helpful. Nice selection of fresh shrimp but they also sold boudin, fish, crab meat, oysters, gator and sausage. They ship anywhere in the United States and they can even package your purchase in a carryon box to take with you inside the plane. The shrimp boats were docked behind the market. Very cool place where everything here is fresh from the boat daily! We saw this place when we came for our swamp tour and stopped by after the tour. Located just 11 miles from our hotel in downtown NOLA. Review #1492

Blue Crabs. (Easter prices) High demand.

Love getting my sacks of crawfish and crabs from the shrimp lot. They always have the best prices when I go. The pickup process for reserving food is convenient and quick if you ever need something in advance. I've been going for years. I've had to try other places when demand for seafood is insane and I drag my feet too much but what I can say without a doubt is I have never had any dead mudbugs from shopping here! The other places always, always have lbs of dead mudbugs and they do not do anything to satisfy the customer. If I could eliminate my procrastinating ways I wouldn't go anywhere else. Amy's is my go to but all the shops are good places to go.

These roadside seafood vendors are another reason why the locals say "the West Bank is the best bank". This is a dedicated lot that is an open market for local fishermen to sell today's catch. There are approximately 20 different stalls that you can browse. You won't see any freezers though, everything is on ice or still kicking. The seafood is fresh, and the prices are extremely competitive. This place is a wonderful example of the free enterprise system. Competition, supply, and demand drive the prices. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to score some fresh shrimp. While not all vendors were open because it was Sunday, there were still plenty of options to choose from. There were multiple stalls with shrimp in different sizes. We bought some beautiful 21/25 (count per lb) brown shrimp for $3.75 a pound. Crazy cheep, The downside (at least on this visit) was the place stinks. As soon as we got out of the car we were knocked downed by the stench of rotting seafood. Fresh seafood shouldn't smell, and I suspect the stench was coming from an overdue dumpster. Thankfully the smell was not noticeable at the opposite end of he lot. On that end, a giant wood burning grill was smoking some homemade andouille sausage.

The fresh shrimp are excellent but the live crabs were somewhat disappointing as they weren't very full.

This weekend I went in to buy live crawfish and asked a couple of questions about size, price etc…read moreas any person would. I was getting tripped up on where they came from because I'm just a girl who loves crawfish and I do boil them myself but this just started recently.. So I'm not knowledgeable of how the sizes differ based on where they come from or how dirty or clean they are because to me it doesn't matter but to them it's what they advertise so in the middle of me trying to grasp this concept of the big ones come from the river and the smaller ones come from the pond or where ever they come from I still don't know because I sensed I was bothering her but maybe the lady was getting a little frustrated going back and forth with me on the wording and trying to explain to me while showing me " with a finger point " or a bin of mixed boiled crawfish saying " the ponds are in the front " but literally they were all mixed.. size were all over. I decided on getting the " rivers " as they call them, for me they were the bigger ones.. lol They all eat mud and they'll all be boiled to death and eaten. For one sack of 33 pound for $2.89 my total was $95 and some change, $104 after tax. I asked if they took tap and the lady said yes and than my total was $108 I asked why it went from 95 to 108 she explained to me that the total was $104 and it was taxes but I can see on the register " 104 " and I said no with taxes its 104, she said they charge credit card fees I said that's illegal, she said, " no it's not everybody does it " I said, " that's don't mean it's legal " she pointed at this white paper on the window that said nothing about credit card fees but said something about the right to give discounts for cash paying customers, and she called a manager.. Mind you I wasn't disrespectful just bothered my total went from 104 to 108 with no sign or warning they charge credit card fees until she mentioned it. But when she said they charge credit card fees I looked for an ATM which they didn't have one. So the manager comes over asks what's the issue I said it's illegal to charge credit card fees he said no it's not the company charges them I said what does that have to do with me.. He said if it's a problem I can leave, so I thanked them and I walked out, not saying another word. As I'm walking out he yells something ignorant and told me don't come back. As if I would have come back to a place that don't value their customers, understand that it's free to ask questions and free to be kind to customers, A business that values their customers would have simply said, "we do have the right to charge you up to 4% ( that's the legal limit on credit card fees " but of course he was just as ignorant as I was at the moment .. or he could have said, do you want the crawfish or not? " I didn't mind paying, I probably would have ended up paying the $4 but it's something about spending my money with people who take advantage of consumers just because they can and sometimes I have time to point out that simply " just because everybody does it doesn't make it right " pray on the ignorant and be mad at the people who know you're doing something you have no business doing is wild! I do know it's legal for businesses to charge credit card fees as long as it's presented to the customer and it's a 4% cap on fees because that's what the people who they have their card machine charge them so we both wrong but I wrote this review to shine the light on the fact they don't care about who buys from them, how you feel about them or how hard you work for your money they gone do business regardless and a lot of times people choose to stay away from businesses who don't value their customers. It's something about middle class white folk that act like they have a problem with being questioned and giving a respectful answer and realizing that everybody is not out to prove them as ignorant or less than, but prove to be just that. I spend $190 at the Westwego seafood at capt. Johnathan's lot on great size crawfish at $2.69 a pound and I paid their credit card fee because they didn't mind answering questions because not everyone knows what you know about the product you sell. The lady was patient with me, even found me something to put my crawfish in so they didn't dirty my car.. it's not about what you do it's about how you do it. " it's just $4 " it's my $4 until I choose that I want something bad enough to trade the $4 for a product or service and credit card fees for a business who don't care about me is not a fair trade. I wasn't greeted when I walked in but I always speak and ask the person how their doing, she answered and didn't dismiss the greeting which is why they get 3 stars, and they didn't seem to be like that when I called over the phone earlier that morning, the man I talked to over the phone gave me the address and pricing and shared they had two kinds and two prices. But in person experience was different.

You'd think the staff might still be learning the ropes, but our server was incredible. There wasn't a single moment we needed anything and had to wait. She checked on us multiple times, and we were only there for about 30 minutes. The food came out really fast. The crawfish hit the table in about 3 minutes, and the catfish platter followed about 10 minutes later. Everything was piping hot. The crawfish has a little spice, just enough to taste it but not overpowering. Honestly, if they put any less spice in it, it wouldn't have any at all. I saw some reviews saying it's way too spicy, but those people obviously haven't had truly spicy crawfish. The fries were amazing honestly like homemade Popeyes-style fries. The catfish was fresh and flavorful. I would have liked it fried a little harder, but the menu says it's lightly battered, so it was exactly as advertised. They also had us in and out quickly without ever feeling rushed, which we really appreciated. This is definitely a great spot for families because there's something for everyone. The prices cant be beat! This was our first time trying Lefort's, and we will absolutely be back.
