Now this place is full of nostalgia--the awkward arcade, the horrible paper towel dispensers, the constant lack of soap in the dispensers, the smell of coconut oil and shoe crust... Seeing the usher at the front always makes me smile. I remember when my friends used to work here and they'd tell me all about how it was a lot of waiting. Being greeted by a teenager is refreshing and takes me way back. Ticket prices remain COMPETITIVE! I got the movie pass and bought tickets for 5 movies for several folks for just over $100. This place is bustling over the holidays and I hope -- just hope they are able to hang on!

It doesn't. 2.) The online website and programming of what's on screen is not extra special. First run films are better left to the cineplexes. This space would suit a well-curated art house, classic cinema, and rarely seen films for a large swath of audiences in the Brazos Valley. I live right around the corner and the 50th Anniversary screening of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon was the first film since their launch (in current iteration)...it was fun to experience on a large screen. 3.) What is unclear from the online presence is that food can be served to your seat. I looked extensively in the sight but this was not evident to me until we arrived. The menu is very pedestrian, burgers, greasy fries and more fried things, and standard salads. Again, nothing special or unique. 4.). Why are tickets for future screenings unavailable since they are already advertised? Also, there was a lot of noise in the lobby during the film and the house lights did not come up after the film concluded. I WANT to support a local one-screen experience Downtown, but how I miss the reopening days of this place when it was diversely curated and a human being sat in the ticket booth to welcome you into the Experience of The Queen. Tickets were on the pricier end especially since it was a Thursday night, but not a big deal. The workers were friendly, and the seats were EXTREMELY comfortable & cushy... I still think about them to this day... I also thought it was nice how movie viewers could order food and the workers would come serve it on a platter! I'm not too familiar with any deals or memberships that the River Oaks Theatre may have compared to its big name competitors, but I highly recommend everyone to experience a film here at least once! In fact, they have now been open for a number of years and have added a second screen. Texas Highways also carried a great article about it, among other Texas theatres. I thought this would be less annoying / disruptive than the wait staff walking through the aisles-- it was not. Every time someone went to pick up their food, they had to wade through the seats, which means they will block your view. Then, after they receive their food, the door to the theater slams. It was very loud and disruptive, especially during tense or quiet parts of the movie. swear to god, I counted upwards of 30 door slams. How have yall not ensured that the doors are soft close? How have you not trained your staff to ensure that the door shuts quietly?

And there're two banks with two ATM machines located within a block of the square - so it's no problem that they don't take credit cards.
