By the end of the night, our group had managed to eat our way through most of the menu. Nothing was trying to reinvent the wheel, but everything was well prepared, satisfying, and exactly what we wanted for a relaxed rooftop gathering. The food isn't the reason to come--it's the complete experience. Naturally, we leaned into the fun. The Moscow Mule served in a take-home copper mug was an easy decision, and once we spotted the "Double Tap" special (beer, shot, commemorative cup, and T-shirt), there was no turning back. We wanted to make sure we'd remember the night long after we crossed back over the river. The staff deserves a special mention. They handled our large group--including kids--with patience, flexibility, and genuine hospitality. Everyone felt welcome, which isn't always easy with a bigger party. As a former Marine Corps infantry officer, it pains me just a little to hand a five-star review to an Army establishment... but credit where it's due. Zulu Time earned it. I can't imagine the Hotel Thayer without this. It's exactly the kind of place I'll be bringing friends and family from the Garrison, Cold Spring, and greater Hudson Valley area whenever they want a laid-back evening with one of the best rooftop views around.
