We were looking for a simple summer evening with a little West Point character, and Zulu Time delivered exactly that. The rooftop has fantastic energy. Between the sweeping views of the Hudson River and Hudson Highlands, the warm summer air, and a DJ keeping the atmosphere lively without overwhelming the conversation, it's the kind of place where you plan to stay for one drink and somehow the entire evening disappears. By the end of the night, our group had managed to eat our way through most of the menu. Nothing was trying to reinvent the wheel, but everything was well prepared, satisfying, and exactly what we wanted for a relaxed rooftop gathering. The food isn't the reason to come--it's the complete experience. Naturally, we leaned into the fun. The Moscow Mule served in a take-home copper mug was an easy decision, and once we spotted the "Double Tap" special (beer, shot, commemorative cup, and T-shirt), there was no turning back. We wanted to make sure we'd remember the night long after we crossed back over the river. The staff deserves a special mention. They handled our large group--including kids--with patience, flexibility, and genuine hospitality. Everyone felt welcome, which isn't always easy with a bigger party. As a former Marine Corps infantry officer, it pains me just a little to hand a five-star review to an Army establishment... but credit where it's due. Zulu Time earned it. I can't imagine the Hotel Thayer without this. It's exactly the kind of place I'll be bringing friends and family from the Garrison, Cold Spring, and greater Hudson Valley area whenever they want a laid-back evening with one of the best rooftop views around. read more

So slow. Took almost 2 hours to get our food and it was wrong not one apology for being so late wrong and cold. I would stay away from food and just order drinks at the bar. read more

Food was delicious, Katelien was an excellent waitress. We had a large group that was a bit rowdy and she was excellent with service and keeping us in line. This was a rooftop bar located on the top of my hotel. The location was amazing. Gives you a beautiful view overlooking the Hudson River. Plenty of places to sit. My boyfriend had a nice time just sitting up there, enjoying some cocktails and talking. Service was quick. The bar was not that busy, but I figured it was because it's not exactly their prime season yet. They serve until 2am which is nice. Drinks are nice and strong. read more

This lame excuse for a rooftop lounge makes me want to root for Navy. You'd think USMA would have enough self respect to do something about this tourist trap. Bad service, worse food, somehow poor ambiance despite the view. It's almost like they went out of their way to make it bad. Caesar salad was meh, burger grossly salty, toilet wine. Had the crab cakes here and it was a delight! It definitely wasn't enough but when are crab cakes ever enough? I could've had 50 and it may still not be enough! I went with my family thinking that the food was going to be amazing... no it was absolutely disgusting my sandwich bread was soggy my shredded rib tasted like they boiled it and poured the water on the bread with the meat. The fries were fine but like still one of my friends got a burger and when they cut it open blood was gushing out. Yeah no thanks they asked for a well done burger I don't think that's well done. Service was really good our server kept checking on us which was one of the only good things there. read more

I was just at West Point for Army/ Navy lacrosse game. We planned on stopping by Zulu at Thayer and then continuing on for the night. But because of the staff, Anthony, Joe and Jackson we ended up spending the whole time there. Food was delicious, drinks were great, but the staff is what made it! We had about 20 people and they could not have been more accommodating. Moving heaters, music they played. And they all had great personalities and served and helped us with smiles and laughs. Would highly recommend going and hanging for the night! read more

I came here on Labor Day weekend to get out of the city and have some relaxation time in a beautiful setting. This terrace is the best part of the hotel. Such a lovely way to relax the day away with great service and tasty drinks. Will come back here again if I decide to take another Hudson River vacation weekend. read more

let me start off this review by saying that I love the atmosphere here. On a nice afternoon or evening, it is the perfect place to hang out. The staff are all very nice.They have a nice selection of food, but you pay a little more because after all you're at the Thayer Hotel. I try to avoid getting mixed drinks here because their taps taste funny. If you get water, soda, or anything else from a tap it usually tastes musty. I also really wish they had a better music system, maybe a TouchTunes machine. The Sirius radio 80s on eight doesn't do it for everybody. read more

Absolutely the worst dinner I have had in several years. They had a kids event with a buffet. We were the first ones to arrive and go through the buffet. Every single item from buffet was ice cold and kids would not eat anything. Entrees were terrible also. Service was terrible. Wait staff never checked on us, took 20 minutes to get a high chair after asking three waitresses, could not get silverware and finally went to bar to get it ourselves, brought drinks in glasses for small kids and took another 15 minutes and asking two waitresses to get plastic cups for them, which still had no lids and straws. Severe disappointment for something they advertised as a kids event. I will never go back. read more
