I love the decor. There are murals, bright colors, and some very cool painted chairs. The food was good, and our 2 and 4 year old grandchildren got their meals right away. Unfortunately, things went downhill. As the place filled up, we saw 3 or 4 tables of people who arrive well after we had get their food while we waited. After 30 minutes or more, I went up to the hostess. It turned out the our order never got turned in. Despite my asking for some compensation (free round of drinks or dessert), we got nothing. We should have been out in under an hour, but we were there 2-1/2 hours. The food was good, so my only issue was with the poor service and their unwillingness to make a concession to compensate us. read more

10/28/24: Solid 4 Stars! Stopped in Hacienda Mexicana for lunch after visiting West Point. The decor inside and outside is really cool. Outside, you'll see two wild horse sculptures made from horseshoes. The inside is decorated in a festive Mexican motif. We were immediately seated and served ice water and tortilla chips with salsa. Our lunch entrees were chicken tacos and chicken flautas. Service was very good at Hacienda Mexicana. Afterwards, we commented to the manager about the stunning horse sculptures. He told us that they were shipped from Guadalajara. Extras: -According to the menu, there's takeout and delivery. - A decent size parking area is available. I had a craving for Mexican food, so I decided to stop by. It was a very busy night due to an Army home game, so the service wasn't the best--it took quite a while before we could even place our orders. The chips and salsa for the table were delicious! For drinks, I ordered a Coronarita and a Piña Colada. I'd definitely recommend the Piña Colada. Being indecisive, I went with one of the combination platters, which came with three different items. However, the server walked away before I could specify what type of meat I wanted in each. There was a lot of food in the combo, so that was a positive. I also ordered the steak enchiladas, but the meat was very tough--talk about a jaw workout! I'd likely return just for the drinks. The red sangria likely was from a can. The chips were the best part. Several different people provided service. The appetizer (guacamole) arrived a minute before the entree. Turned out this poor planning was welcomed, because I covered the dried chicken with it. I rarely leave food in my dish and I wasn't taking the remaining scraps home for the dog. Hacienda Mexicana was an excellent choice. It is located close to the West Point Military Academy and on its busy Main Street. The restaurant has a full bar, a vast indoor seating area, and an outdoor terrace area, as well. Their decorations/wall art are very festive and they incorporated Valentine's Day decor, as well. Before we get to the food, let me highly commend the service. From the moment that you enter, you're treated with white glove service. Our server was extraordinary and attentive, from start to finish. The complimentary warm chips and salsa was gone in a few minutes. Without even asking, we were replenished with both items. See what I mean, regarding the service? Oh, the same goes for the water. Constantly refilled, with a smile. My Classic Margarita was perfect. It was well crafted, strong, and in a much appreciated large glass. Every item that we ordered was DELICIOUS! The Chicken Soup was huge, the Cheese Quesadilla was tasty/cheesy, and my Pollo Langunilla (sautéed chicken, with portobello mushrooms, rice, salad and refried beans) was AMAZING. A solid 4-star restaurant in this little Highland Falls town. Our airbnb hosts recommended Hacienda as their favorite local restaurant. Service and ambience were excellent! We make an annual trip to West Point for an event and this place is part of the tradition. Always lovely with good food and really good drinks. There aren't many options near the campus, but this is one of the best. Classic menu, salsa and guacamole are really good and fresh chips. read more

Visiting from south Texas and being hispanic, I always like trying mexican food from other places so I tend to be very critical. Hacienda Mexicana was pretty good!! The chicken mole was very flavorful, it was not as spicy hot as I might have made it but chicken was tender and sauce was good. The serving size was enough for two. My niece got the chicken tostada plate, the chicken again was very tender and the flavor was great. My sister had the shrimp fajita plate, shrimp were cooked perfectly. While overall main entree items were very good and portions were huge, the sides were alittle lacking. Rice and refried beans were either not fresh or packaged. Tortillas were definitely not homemade. And the service was lacking. They did have one large party to attend to but literally had to ask for refills and ticket. All in all, I'd go back to give another try if in the are again. read more

I'm not one to write nasty things, the only reason why I am writing this is because I did get sick that same day. Other than that, I wouldn't have thought twice, to write a review. I popped into this place because mom and pop shops are always the best! The interior reminded me of Mexico soooo much, especially the gift shops in Mexico lol So it was beautiful to see. The service was good, the waiter was not overbearing. The food is where Hacienda lost me. When the waiter put the food down, I could smell it was pungent. The rice was rotten. I tried it, just to see, maybe it was lime rice, it was not. It was so sour and mushy. I said no problem. There's more on the plate I can eat. Wrong! The refried beans? Burnt. You know how when you catch your food just before it becomes really burnt? You can taste that. So I pieced apart the enchiladas and only ate the shrimp which I took a risk with. It makes me sad because I believe cooking is an art. This comes natural to some. Even if it was a slow day, it's unacceptable. I know I won't be back, or recommend it due to me being sick . The Burrito California was amazing. Very large portions. Pretty chill atmosphere though got a little loud towards the end of the night.

We did take-out dinner from here . We were dropping our son back to West Point and brought the food back to campus and sat near trophy point to eat. Although, I would love to go back when we bave more time to eat at the restaurant. Inside atmosphere looked fun and festive and outdoor deck looked popular with many tables full (it was perfect weather to eat outside). The food was delicious. We ordered taco salads (chicken and beef) and enchiladas. The taco salads were probably not the best choice for take- out, as the crisp shell wasn't very crispy once we finally ate, but the flavors were yummy. They also gave us chips and salsa to go. Ok so I ordered the peach one. I have no idea what they made, but that wasn't a mojito. I was let down the first 10 mins and now I'm on edge! The chips and salsa was basic it came quick, I liked how they offered guac but come to find out when our tab came we had to pay $8 and change for it ( the server asked us if we wanted guacamole like it came with the chips and salsa) I guess it wasn't free. I won't get into the details of the food because unfortunately I didnt enjoy it, way too much beans and the steak seemed a bit sweet. I ordered another drink (forgot the name of it) and I noticed the taste of cheap tequila. Then we ordered fried icecream and they fried it with what looked like corn flakes and it tasted very Chewy and stale McDonald's would've been better to eat at instead. I wouldn't go back. We made reservations for a dinner at 6:30pm. We didn't realize there was an Army Football home game that day so the place was packed. Unfortunately the service suffered because they were so busy. It took a bit of time to get food and several requests to get water refills. The food was very good when we received it. Our only complaint was that the quesadillas were a bit oily.
