Great waterpark for the price. The only drawback is the lifeguards are a little bit on a power trip. They have a bunch of young kids working there and it seems like they're making up the rules as they go. There are plenty of lifeguards which is a plus it's just some of them make rules that make no sense. We will still go to this part because it is lots of fun and they have a great lazy river and lots of fun things for kids to do and two really nice slides and like I said before, it's very cost-effective and you can bring in your own snacks and drinks if you want to and it does not cost to do that which is very good. read more

Please for the love of God DO NOT take your eyes off your children if you choose this water park! I was there last week even after knowing that a child had drowned at this water park about two weeks prior (I'll take the blame for that)... for one, it's pricey, even for residents. Second, the bees...attacking my son while I'm trying to put sunscreen on him (so within the first ten minutes of being there). Bees, wasps are everywhere, I get it. Small complaint but incredibly annoying especially when there's no escape! Third, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the staff.... Specifically the lifeguards (or lack there of).... I'm absolutely shocked that the City of Rowlett has not been sued or the Red Cross has not shut this park down! Coming from an untrained eye, it was blatantly obvious that the lifeguards here are highly unqualified! Let me start with the young lady on the stand overlooking the activity pool. She sat with a towel wrapped around her legs, her shorts draped over her shoulders (she is shaded by an umbrella) but most appalling, she was using another towel as a PILLOW! Yes, that's right! Laid over in her stand presumably watching our children while laying on a makeshift pillow! Moving right along, the lazy river....lifeguards should never stop walking laps back and forth along that river. Yet, I observed another lifeguard standing and then squatting at one end of the river for several minutes! The other guard who was actually walking laps on the other side of the river was using the rescue tube as a walking stick! Once the guards switched, the next guard definitely never stopped walking laps but I think she thought she was on a modeling runway! I saw her actually look in the river one time and that's because an elderly gentleman yelled something at her. As she strutted, she carried her rescue tube strapped across her back! There is a reason lifeguards are trained to carry that tube in front of them and readily accessible! Beware if you choose to get on the slide....the exit end of the slide has a strong current and can and will pull you under and hold you there if you are not strong enough to pull yourself up (which many children are not).. I stood and watched the guard in the catch pool where the slides empty out. Multiple times she had her back to the slides and looking at the tables behind her. She consistently went under water to wet her hair, it's hot, I'm ok with wetting your hair, but one would think this can be done with some urgency so that you're back above water to watch the people coming off the slide! But no, she goes under for several seconds at a time and completely missing the kids coming off the slide! I was amazed!! And finally, I met a sweet 8 year old who was there on a field trip. Super outgoing and just sat down beside me and told me all about himself! I asked where his teachers were at and he told me there's only one teacher and she usually sits at the table somewhere on the other side of the park. I can't imagine letting my child go to a water park with no supervision! I'm sure his parents thought he was in good hands but he most certainly was not! If you need First Aid, forget it. It's CLOSED! Yes, NO First Aid office. If you need a life jacket, bring your own or make damn sure it fits your child properly! The staff does not know how to properly secure a life jacket! I watched some young ladies try to help a child they saw struggling with a life jacket that did not fit! The lifeguards and management should recognize this! These are only a few of the many things I observed that day that I think others should be mindful of if they go. For some, it all may seem trivial. But I expect more when it comes to something that can so quickly go bad! This is unacceptable! Shortly after I left that day, I found out they had another drowning!!! I believe it was the drowning that another reviewer posted about. I'm not at all surprised. I hope that child is ok and thank god there was someone there that knew what to do. Clearly it was not the lifeguards! As a resident, I want nothing more then to to love this place. I think it has and know it has had in the past great potential! read more

We purchased a season pass so we could take the kids a couple days a week for the summer which was reasonably priced hoping for a good experience however I do NOT appreciate the lifeguard assigned to the small children's slide on 6-30-21 being SUPER aggressive with her whistle when it was closing time and my 6 year old slid down the slide he was waiting to slide down right when they shut everything off. He is 6! He didn't even know why she was blowing her whistle a bunch of times at him! I understand these are teenagers acting as life guards but they really need to be more trained in how to handle the little ones a little more kindly. We are paying to enjoy the water features there, it isn't free so let's treat the customers as such please! read more

Not sure why parents wouldn't watch their kids when visiting a water park. I bring my child & I make sure my eyes are on her constantly plus in the water with her. This isn't a daycare. I read a comment, I think her name was Felicia....I saw the pics & was there that day. FYI: lifeguards may lay towels over their legs, arms, etc to keep the sun off them. The towel she was "laying on" wasn't a towel but a cold compress. If you were watching, as it seems you were, did you see the other lifeguard bring it to her ? While watching her, where was your kiddos ? You had to have felt safe enough to not have your eyes on them right ? Anyways, I am sure this heat gets to them. Doesn't it you? I saw eyes open, even on your pictures. It's quite obvious she was awake because the 2nd pic was her taking a drink. How about you go sit or stand out there for hours in the heat & let's see how you'd handle things. I know the lifeguards are trained & have spoken to a few of them for my own knowledge. I feel for these kiddos in the sun for hours on end. I couldn't do it. I have been taking my nieces, nephews & own kiddo here for a while. Always have a good time! I have no issues with this place other than the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I will be back next summer !!!! read more

We went 3x this summer and my kids had a great time, they have lots of life vests and many attentive life guards. My only complaint was on our last trip back (Early/mid July) there was a big change in the pool water. It was viable dirty with lots of bugs, bandaids, and the color was merky. It looked like it needed some fresh treatment. We opted not to rerun the rest of summer due to the water conditions. read more

I enjoy Wetzone. It's cheap and it's a legit waterpark (meaning a "lazy stream", two waterslides, kiddie play area and a big pool for adults) For the price and the fact my child is only 18 months, this is a perfect destination for us to find some relief from the hot sun. The lifeguards are teens, so I expect them to still act as teenagers and I keep my eyes close on my son at all. There are a lot of honeybee's in the food eating areas, but you also have a lot of families eating lunch, spilling soda and juice. Typical expectations. But I can bring in a cooler, reserve a cabana (to avoid bees) and let my child enjoy his fun in the sun for less money than it takes to purchase TWO adult tickets to a big name water park. read more

We decided to give swim lessons a try for the kiddo. It is convenient to where we live and it looked like it would be fun. Well....that is NOT the case! While she had a good time and learned a little bit, I feel like the lifeguards were not as "professional" as we'd hoped. I realize they are mostly high school kids, but this is a job, not social time for them. Not only did they spend more time playing with the kids (not babysitters!) than teaching them anything, but they had conversations that were NOT rated PG around the patrons and especially the kids that were waiting for lessons to start. On more than one occasion, there were multiple guards sitting on the lifeguard stand (a BIG no-no!) while they talked to each other instead of watching the water/swimmers like they were supposed to. The female lifeguards (on the stands) were MUCH more attentive than most of the males, but overall we were not impressed. To make matters worse, there seems to be a HUGE honeybee problem. My son was terrified to go watch his sister practice for fear of being stung! There was a parent that dropped his kids off for practice and refused to stay because of the bee infestation and another parent that had a bee sting his shirt but luckily didn't get him! Since there is minimal foliage/flowers, I imagine that was due to lack of cleanliness. I come to this conclusion since most days there was obviously some sort of (blue) stickiness on several chairs/tables where we sat while swim lessons were in session. If this is how they are going to run their after hours swim lessons, we most certainly will NOT be attending this water park DURING business hours nor recommending it to others! When we showed up for our first lesson, there were about 10 lifeguards just standing around and none of them greeted us or told us where to go. I finally had to ask someone and he seemed put out that he had to take 10 seconds to help me. We took mommy and me swim "lessons" that were nothing more than us splashing around in the pool while the instructor just swam around and checked on us. I could have just played in the pool at home. I was looking for something with a little structure, maybe some songs or ways to engage a toddler. read more

PROBLEM WITH HOT DOGS and SOILED WATER. While visiting family in Rowlett, My sister in law found a Groupon to Wet Zone. I paid for the Groupon and we headed out to visit the place. My sister in law, and two daughters had visited once before and really liked the place. Unfortunately, our visit was pretty awful. Right of the bat, after sliding down a slide, I ended up with someone else's mucus on my face. What was even worse was almost immediate stomach pain and vomiting we endured, just after eating some hot dogs we got from the concession stand. Two out of six of us were in so much pain, we had to leave shortly after getting there. Not a fun trip. Definitely not worth what we paid for the visit! Also, I witnessed at least two blowout diapers in the water, with parents rushing their soiled kids out of the water and nearby lifeguards not saying anything or getting patrons out of the water. It was horrible it only took my kids 15 min to play on every part of the park!!!When we got there there was only a few chairs for the public my mom had to sit on the floor!!!the lazy river is about 2 feet wide!I am very disappointed at wet zone. This place is great. Nothing big or fancy but perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day. We went on a groupon but even without, the prices are reasonable. Only a couple of slides but we just really wanted to cool off and get out if the house. Easy to get to right of George Bush. Not very crowded even with a couple if daycares being there. The kids were disappoint that there was no wave pool but this is a great alternative to Hawaiian Park. Much less crowded and way more shaded seating. We didn't even have to wrestle to get a chair. There is a small snack shop there but I think they let in coolers. Don't forget your sunscreen! I won't be making that mistake again. read more

We've been coming here every summer for the past few years. Today, I was disappointed because according to their rules, my son has to be wearing a life vest. He had arm floaties on each arm but they said that he still needed to be wearing a vest. While I sat in the younger children's pool with my son, TWO of their lifeguards didn't say a word to me. And when I was told, I was literally standing with my son in my arms. At no point was he not in my arms or holding on to me. I requested to speak to the manager and he did tell me that it's one of their rules for safety reasons. I completely understood and just made sure to tell him that the first two life guards didn't tell me anything. (Yes I pointed them out to him.) It doesn't bother me that he has to be wearing a life vest. It's the fact that it was very unprofessional for the miscommunication among their staff. Especially if this is one of their rules. Train your staff correctly and never make your customers look stupid because your staff isn't on the same page. read more

Well maintained family friendly water park. Staff is very nice. Not big but a nice place to cool off when its hot. My only issue is that when my son took swim lessons in the morning people would come in and stay to get free admission and I don't think that's fair. I'm paying for lessons and if I can't stay for free why should they. And if that's the case let everyone in for free. Someone should really be watching the entrance better or someone needs to spread the word I the best times to get in free...I'm just saying. read more
