    Lifeguards

Please for the love of God DO NOT take your eyes off your children if you choose this water park! I was there last week even after knowing that a child had drowned at this water park about two weeks prior (I'll take the blame for that)... for one, it's pricey, even for residents. Second, the bees...attacking my son while I'm trying to put sunscreen on him (so within the first ten minutes of being there). Bees, wasps are everywhere, I get it. Small complaint but incredibly annoying especially when there's no escape! Third, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the staff.... Specifically the lifeguards (or lack there of).... I'm absolutely shocked that the City of Rowlett has not been sued or the Red Cross has not shut this park down! Coming from an untrained eye, it was blatantly obvious that the lifeguards here are highly unqualified! Let me start with the young lady on the stand overlooking the activity pool. She sat with a towel wrapped around her legs, her shorts draped over her shoulders (she is shaded by an umbrella) but most appalling, she was using another towel as a PILLOW! Yes, that's right! Laid over in her stand presumably watching our children while laying on a makeshift pillow! Moving right along, the lazy river....lifeguards should never stop walking laps back and forth along that river. Yet, I observed another lifeguard standing and then squatting at one end of the river for several minutes! The other guard who was actually walking laps on the other side of the river was using the rescue tube as a walking stick! Once the guards switched, the next guard definitely never stopped walking laps but I think she thought she was on a modeling runway! I saw her actually look in the river one time and that's because an elderly gentleman yelled something at her. As she strutted, she carried her rescue tube strapped across her back! There is a reason lifeguards are trained to carry that tube in front of them and readily accessible! Beware if you choose to get on the slide....the exit end of the slide has a strong current and can and will pull you under and hold you there if you are not strong enough to pull yourself up (which many children are not).. I stood and watched the guard in the catch pool where the slides empty out. Multiple times she had her back to the slides and looking at the tables behind her. She consistently went under water to wet her hair, it's hot, I'm ok with wetting your hair, but one would think this can be done with some urgency so that you're back above water to watch the people coming off the slide! But no, she goes under for several seconds at a time and completely missing the kids coming off the slide! I was amazed!! And finally, I met a sweet 8 year old who was there on a field trip. Super outgoing and just sat down beside me and told me all about himself! I asked where his teachers were at and he told me there's only one teacher and she usually sits at the table somewhere on the other side of the park. I can't imagine letting my child go to a water park with no supervision! I'm sure his parents thought he was in good hands but he most certainly was not! If you need First Aid, forget it. It's CLOSED! Yes, NO First Aid office. If you need a life jacket, bring your own or make damn sure it fits your child properly! The staff does not know how to properly secure a life jacket! I watched some young ladies try to help a child they saw struggling with a life jacket that did not fit! The lifeguards and management should recognize this! These are only a few of the many things I observed that day that I think others should be mindful of if they go. For some, it all may seem trivial. But I expect more when it comes to something that can so quickly go bad! This is unacceptable! Shortly after I left that day, I found out they had another drowning!!! I believe it was the drowning that another reviewer posted about. I'm not at all surprised. I hope that child is ok and thank god there was someone there that knew what to do. Clearly it was not the lifeguards! As a resident, I want nothing more then to to love this place. I think it has and know it has had in the past great potential!

Is this the biggest water park I've ever been to? No. Are the slides the most exhilarating I've…read moreseen? No. But is this an incredible value overall for enjoyment that I feel like deserves more hype? Absolutely! My bf and I came here on a date day to just reconnect. Pro tip- tickets online are $15 cheaper than at the gate. Lockers are 10-13 dollars depending what day of the week you go, so if you can, just leave your valuables in the car. And unless you want to pay $35 to bring in any kind of food or reusable water bottle, just fuel up before or get a stamp to enter / exit for free and go eat your snacks back in the parking lot. We went on a weekday in the summer. It was more crowded than expected for a Monday, but the crowds noticeably thinned by 5 Pm, so I think evening hours are actually better (for weekdays). This place is unassumingly nestled near a park and across from a local elementary school, but it really delivered. The gem for us was the lazy river, which had excellent water flow. You move through at a great clip and even if you totally close your eyes, you won't get stuck in there. You can just relax and feel stress melting away. Even if you can't find a tube, it's easy to float through the river just laying in the water without one. The slides were also fun. The longest wait was for the tunnel tube slides near the front of the park. They were surprisingly fun, and even the long line moved quickly. They had some higher thrill rides too sort of tucked away in the back of the park as well. We were there three hours and could have easily stayed another two. There's honestly something for everyone here, unless you just hate the water. It's a LOT of kids, especially in the 8-17 age range, so we felt like a bit of the oddballs out as 30 somethings here. I'm genuinely surprised though more of my friends don't talk about coming here because you can have hours of fun and relaxation for the $25 entry fee. I may get a season pass next summer!! But note the food and drinks the park sells inside are very pricey and typical park fare, like hot dogs and nachos for $15 or something!! (Don't quote me on the numbers there, but the other numbers are accurate.) Check it out if you're looking for a fun and relaxing date, but know you may encounter some crowds.

So first of all, I love that there were no kids running around and it was a grown and sexy vibe, they had a DJ and they had different areas that were selling drinks and food I believe. So when I have seen commercials, I will admit that I thought that the lazy river was bigger and I thought there were more rides. The night I went, not all the rides were opened, I don't know if that's because it was a grown party or if they didn't have enough lifeguards. Regardless though, I had a great time, I hang out with my friends for about 2 hours. There was one point, where there was a big group between the wave runner and the lazy river that were having a dance party and doing line dances. I was able to get discounted tickets because we bought them early, so if I have the opportunity to do it again, I definitely would.

I don't think regular pricing reflects the experience, so we wait for deals and go in the off season, spring break in the summer is crazy packed unless you go right at open in a weekday, and even then lines get long before noon. I would never go on a weekend. It is also incredibly humid so bring tons of water, more than you would think. The rises are great, the staff is well trained and super sweet, and the side activities or entertainment they get occasionally is always a great addition. The crowding really does take away from the experience though.

My kids love the diving boards, they have two (although one has been out of commission this week - hopefully they fix it quickly!) It's on the smaller size but manageable to take your kids and find a spot to sit and you can keep watch of the kids while they run around. Many of the lounge chairs were either covered in bird droppings or had broken straps. Several inflatables felt noticeably underinflated, and many areas looked dirty and worn. The large screen at the wave pool was also missing, which added to the impression that upkeep has been put off. This park has a lot of potential and is conveniently located, but right now it feels tired and neglected. For the price of admission, I expected a cleaner and better-maintained experience. I hope management invests in refreshing the park because it could be a great family destination again.

We specifically planned our day around visiting the water park and arrived around 1 PM expecting to stay until closing. Unfortunately, the park was closed around 4 PM due to approaching weather. While I completely understand that safety comes first, what disappointed me was how ResortPass handled the situation afterward. Despite the fact that we lost most of the experience we paid for and had no opportunity to return because my family had already left the country, ResortPass only offered a 50% refund. They based their calculation on the park's total operating hours rather than the actual circumstances of our visit. Parking costs were not addressed, and the fact that future tickets would be useless to us seemed to be ignored. After further discussions, the only additional compensation offered was a 20% discount on a future ResortPass booking, which provides little value considering the situation. Customer service was polite, but the final resolution felt disappointing and did not reflect the unique circumstances of our visit. I expected a company that values customer experience to handle this situation more fairly. Would not book through ResortPass / Paradise Springs again based on how this issue was resolved.

He loves waterparks more than anything in life, but we've already been to Great Wolf Lodge on multiple occasions, and we preferred to book with Bonvoy points over shelling out the cash for GWL. Plus, we didn't have a ton of waterpark time on the schedule - win, win, win. One thing that was frustrating is that there was zero record anywhere on the internet of the height requirement for the slides here. Well, internet, I'm here to save you with the answers. We have a son that was 43" as of this visit, and he would be crushed to get his hopes up about doing these slides, only to find out that he's not allowed to. There's one big water "castle" with 3 slides. Those requirements are 42". We actually came here a couple of years ago and he definitely did those slides then, and he was most certainly not 42" then. So I'm not sure if they just changed these or they just weren't enforcing the rules in 2023, but they definitely were measuring him on this visit. Then there's one bigger water slide that's stand alone. The requirements are that you have to be 48" to ride freely, but 42-47" is ok with a life jacket. And then the same restrictions apply to the zip line where you can jump in the water after hanging from several feet above the water. The annoying thing about this was that we were there early in the morning and were the only ones doing it. Yet the lifeguard literally measured my son each time he walked up, despite the fact that he was literally doing it over and over again with no one else around. Make it make sense. Overall, this is not the most amazing waterpark you'll find. But when you book with points, all you have to pay is the resort fee and for parking. It's pretty good bang for your buck when you think about it in those terms.
