Bottom line: this is an incompetent company with garbage customer service, so please do yourself a…read morefavor and don't make the enormous mistake we made by hiring them (twice).
This was the second time that we discovered that our sprinkler system was leaking after Campbell worked on it. In late 2023, their poor workmanship resulted in leaks so severe that Campbell had to generate a letter for us to send to the water company confirming that it was their fault that our water usage was so high- and not ours- so that we could ask for an adjustment to our bill.
In 2025, we hired them again (I know, shame on us) to do our spring service on April 16th. The next day, we discovered that the system was leaking where Campbell had replaced a solenoid, so we immediately contacted their office to request that someone come out and quickly correct the problem. Their admin told us she would get us scheduled ASAP, but then we didn't hear from her, or anyone else in Campbell's office, for a week. On April 23rd, she finally emailed us to tell us that Campbell was unable to come fix the damage they had caused until May 8th- more than three weeks from the initial job that they botched. We called asking speak to one of the owners, Colby, but no one ever responded.
On the morning of the 24th, having not received any response, I filed a formal complaint with the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
I emailed the office Thursday the 24th, to advise that we had been trying unsuccessfully to elicit any kind of response from Campbell, and requested again that Colby contact me, as I had worked with him before. Their admin told me he was "in the field" and unavailable. She asked if we would be at home over the weekend so that Campbell could send a crew to fix their work, and I confirmed that we could make ourselves available. A couple of hours later, she rescinded that offer, claiming that they were "fully booked." I called to let her know that I had filed a complaint with the SCC, and she shrieked at me and hung up.
After not hearing from Campbell for another four days, I emailed the other owner, Taylor, directly on April 28th to ask him to contact me. He never responded. Instead, their awful desk admin replied to me on April 29th claiming that I had reported Campbell to the "Business Bureau" (I assume she meant the "Better Business Bureau," which was false anyway, as it was the SCC) and that she interpreted that as a change in our "desire to keep the appointment," and asking me to clarify. I asked her AGAIN to have Taylor or Colby contact me, and left both of my phone numbers and my schedule. She claimed, despite their inordinately "busy" schedule, that they were both at a conference, but assured me they would contact me the next day. She then emailed me on the 30th to claim that their travel had been delayed, but assured me (again) that one of them would contact me the following day.
Finally, on May 1st Taylor actually called me. I ran him through the entire summary, and he claimed he would get it fixed, and also sent me a follow-up text message claiming that he would be in touch the next day. Anyone who has read this far will know what's coming next: Taylor in fact, did not contact me the next day, May 2nd. Instead, he sent me an invoice for the still-incomplete work.
Campbell didn't correct leaks in our system until May 8th, and when the tech arrived, he expressed total confusion regarding why it took weeks to send someone to complete less than 30 minutes' worth of work. Oh, but don't worry- Taylor texted me the very next day to eagerly check on the status of his payment. At this point, I was done chasing him and his company, and sent him his ever-so-precious, ever-so-sought-after check for payment in full, along with a letter expressing how disappointed we were.
Save yourself the hassle and don't hire these people. But DM me if you want to see even more details, including the screenshots and time stamps for all the times I tried to get them to actually do their job.
