Everything in this place needs a improvement. I came here to pick up my order I placed by phone. Came after 15minutes, waited patiently in front of the register. I see three staff working on a tablet I'm sure for online orders that's fine. Not one person turned around or asked me anything. After about 10minutes, I explained that I called in my order. They asked, what you ordered and I explained a simple BEC on everything bagel. They had a bunch of people and orders waiting, than was like they have an Onion bagel with BEC, unfortunately I couldn't wait for them to re-make my order as i needed to go back to work. I just left. This is not the first time they screwed up my order but this time I needed to put up this review. Because the attitude I received from the staff was ridiculous. Everytime I'm in queens drinking, it's a non negotiable. My mornings start with WhatABagel. We get the Brunson special, bacon sausage hash brown egg and cheese on a roll, chipotle mayo and hot sauce. Me and my wife have been getting our bagels in this spot for the longest time. The cafe is best for takeout, as the seating area is small. Their bagels are fresh and chewy, they have a wide selection of cream cheeses, good coffee selection and a variety of sandwiches. I find the staff polite and efficient, and the system for ordering works well.  My preference on their menu are the raisin-cinnamon bagel, sesame bagel, lox spread, walnut-raisin cream cheese and strawberry cream cheese. Their bagel has a somewhat crispy exterior shell with an inner dense chewy crumb requiring some effort to bite and a satisfying "pull" when a piece is separated. Their cream cheese offers a rich, creamy and smooth texture with a well balanced subtle tangy flavor that's both fresh and milky. I find their prices reasonable but others may find it higher than other places. For anyone willing to try their bagel, go early for the best selection of bagels, as popular flavors can run out. read more

I ordered breakfast over the phone for pickup and the person on the phone had no problem. I let the person know "my coworker is going to pick it up can you put the name under Carla." When my coworker got there to pickup the food the person behind the counter gave him a weird look. As if he wasn't speaking directly to him. Until my coworker said something to him again then the person said "oh ya for Carla right?" It was coming off like this person was being judgmental and had a bias towards my coworker because he's a black man. This is what I'm going to say. If you purchase a card swiping machine/ merchant service and you have the customers paying your surcharge- it's WRONG and I'm pretty sure illegal. I will not. Highway robbery NO WAY. We are talking about a bagel here. This isn't the airport. Absolutely not. I (almost) argued but I'm a consumer the power is in my hands. I literally went next door to Dunkin and spent $4. I got a coffee, bagel and hash brown. Would you look at that. I'm pretty sure one person isn't going to impact the business. But the business is impacting the community by using these practices of up charging clients for card usage. I have to pay to use my card and then spend at least $10 so you can avoid the fee I'm already paying??? How- please stop this practice it's wrong. read more

Please note that they don't allow credit cards for purchases under $10, thankfully I had some cash in my wallet. Overall this is a good place to stop by for a quick bite! I had an appointment across the street and then stopped by after around 9:45AM. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese with a small hot chocolate. It was ready very quickly! The everything bagel was good. The seasoning had anise which I don't love, but aside from that it was still a good doughy consistency with just a slight crisp on the outside. I see that there a some mixed reviews here, so maybe it depends on the day...however, I have had a consistently pleasant experience here for several years now. My family has been coming to What A Bagel for several years now. Each time my wife and I visit my parents, her first thought is an egg sandwich for breakfast from What A Bagel! I do also love this place because there's a Sandwich named after me (not sure it's me, but I do order it every time). We've ordered the same thing now for quite some time: 1 Vegetable Omelette well done with Turkey Bacon on a Sesame Bagel for my wife, 1 Vegetable Omelette on a Multigrain Bagel for my mother, and 2 Dino Specials (2 eggs whites with Buffalo Chicken) with pepper jack cheese on an Egg Bagel for my father and me). They also have a coffee/juice bar in there, and some assorted baked goods (muffins are excellent). The place was also renovated recently, so it looks a lot nicer too! All in all, we'll keep coming back for awesome egg sandwiches! read more

This is a cafe with a side of bagel store. Cinnamon Raisin bagel - super chewy, no real cinnamon flavor and raisin are barely in the bagel. Cinnamon raisin cream cheese - absolutely flavoless. Not much cinnamon and hardly any raisins. Maybe for me the bagel bar has just been set to high. When you are use to the amazing crisp outside and tender inside of a bagel from Utopia BagelsBagels then you are probably going to be disappointed with any other bagel. Super nice place and a way better option than Dunkin Donuts. Just be prepared to spend more. I ordered two toasted plain bagels one with bacon egg and cheese and another with egg salad then a snapple drink. It all came out to $9.00 but I don't mind paying for a fresher option. The sandwiches were good and I got the right order unlike Dunkin Donuts. The place could use a little cleaning up by the window edges. I used to like getting bagels & my iced coffee here but I am truly very disappointed with this establishment. The cooks are nice and I haven't had a problem with them as of yet however, I had ordered 4 iced coffees up front with the lady at the register and told her my preference for each one. She makes all 4 of them extremely milky (i might as well have paid for a cup of milk) and when I asked her to make ONLY ONE cup way darker she says (with the most sarcastic attitude) "oooooh i LOVE remaking the coffees". EXCUSE ME?!!!! That is you're freaking job lady! I give YOUR business money for a SATISFACTORY ORDER! Im sorry that you are just lazy and don't know how to properly make coffee.
