Parking! That's enough to get 3 stars from me when I'm in Queens, lol.... I came in for the first time one Friday a little before noon. I was the only customer there. It's a small place, with a limited selection of bagels and spreads. A nice woman took my order and she asked if I wanted the bagel toasted. I responded that she should go ahead and do so if the bagel needed it. She knew exactly what I was talking about and replied that it didn't because it was soft. I generally don't like my bagel toasted if it's fresh, but will ask for it toasted if it's been sitting around for a while and getting a bit stale. In some other bagel stores, they've rolled their eyes when I ask. Not this lady, she knew exactly what I meant - no need to toast it. Thank you. So for $9, I had a sesame bagel with vegetable tuna salad and it was quite good. Although the variety of bagels and spreads are limited at this store, I'd visit again. Horrible! Overpriced. We stopped in and got 2 bagels. Besides being extremely overpriced these were by far the worst New York Bagels. They were very hard and chewy. If you are in the area go next .door to Panera and pick up your bagels there, they are not the best but at least they are edible and 25% cheaper. read more

A quaint little spot in Little Neck. It seems to have a neighborhood following as each time I try to get bagels in here, I'm usually too late. (I also have to remind myself that they close by 3PM). So come early or else there will be nothing left. I personally like to come here to buy the lox and the flavored cream cheeses. The quality of lox is very good - always fresh and I've never had an issue with storing it for a few days. The prices are reasonable and shopping here saves time -- beats waiting on a long line at the local supermarket. On several occasions, I've had the bagels here. Again the secret is to come bright and early. This way the bagels are fresh and straight out of the oven. Inside the shop, there are two small café tables in case you want to eat-in rather than take out. It's not good for large groups - the shop is small overall so the seating already takes up floor space from the area where you line up for the register. They also sell coffee, muffins and other baked goods so if you can't grab a bagel, you can always buy the other stuff. I think there are better neighborhood bagel spots nearby. However, I would still swing by for the lox. read more

Probably the worst bagel I've had in a very long time. I've seen this shop in the plaza for years so I figured they'll be good since the sign says they've been around since 1932. Now I know why they call it slims. I went there the other day for a buttered bagel and bottled water (small one). This was to tie me over til lunch Well I walk in and there's 4 young females just talking and hanging. After waiting for 5 minutes and about to walk out , one of them actually asked what I want. I told her and she prepared my order. I took out $4 that always covered such a small order. Well to my surprise it came to $7! I never complain about price but this was about double what I been paying at any other bagel place throughout queens and Nassau county. My husband and I decided to go to the Douglaston Slim's location out of convenience. In fact when we got in the door I said why don't we go to Panera Bread instead because they had no bacon or real egg sandwiches. Our mistake for wanting " a good bagel." When we got to the front, service was quite speedy and the workers were nice but nothing special or extra, that's fine I guess. I ordered a toasted cinnamon-raisin with cream cheese which I have to say was okay. There was nothing good or bad about it, it was an OK amount of cream cheese but definitely had better. If its related to the one in bayside I'm surprised. On the other hand my husband ordered a whole wheat bagel with cream cheese and had quite a different experience. The bagel felt and tasted as if they had just pulled it out of the refrigerator and decided not to defrost it or include the cream cheese he asked for. Look I personally don't eat whole wheat Bagels but no Bagel should ever taste as hard or dry as that did. My husband eats everything under the sun doesn't care how old it is. And yet he only ate half of this. If you don't know us, that's a big deal. Again if this is the same owner from Slims in Bayside I'm really surprised and shocked they would allow this location to fall so far from the other one. SLIM'S in bayside, although expensive far worth the trip considering this one. It's was almost 6 bucks for 2 bad/basic bagels. Have ZERO idea why this place is busy when the bagels are horrible and the service is bad. Been here a few times and staff aren't the friendliest (although today's visit the young gentleman taking my order was nice) and the bagels more importantly are not edible... they are rock hard. Sliced my gums open from taking a bite. Bought a few bagels for my nephews and couldn't even feed it to them because who in their right mind would want bleeding cut gums for breakfast. My go to spot for bagels! They have amazing blueberry bagels which are the perfect NY style bagel that I had growing up (which seem hard to find these days)! The staff is very friendly and the manager already knows my order when I come in. The bagels are always fresh even when I come in at 5:00 PM (which is most times) and $2.25 for a blueberry bagel with generous amount of cream cheese is very reasonable in my opinion and it tastes as great as a $4 bagel from Murray's in the city! read more

The everything bagel is good. Not enough chewiness, but a decent crust and freshly made. However, I ordered it with Nova Spread ($5.50 for bagel and spread), which is horrific. Extremely salty, lacked the tartness of cream cheese, and hugely lacking in chunks of lox. Instead, the spread is slightly pink from whatever pieces of fish made its way into the mix. The bagel tasted like it was made the night before, I asked for cheese and tomatoes, I get one slice of cheese and one slice of tomato, combined with 1 small OJ and a large OJ and the price was 12 dollars. Lets think about that, maybe 1 dollar for small OJ and 3 dollars for the large OJ thats 8 dollars for a bagel with 1 slice of cheese and 1 slice of tomato on a not so fresh bagel. There's no doubt that New Yorkers know good bagels and I take pride in knowing a good bagel from a mediocre one. Slim's is by far one of my favorite places for bagels. My wife and I live in Brooklyn now but at least once a month we make a special morning trip to this store for bagels and iced coffee. It's become a fun tradition for us and it's always something we look forward to. A couple of highlights - they have some of the freshest bagels I've ever had. On occasions when my wife and I go later in the day I'll have their tuna salad on an everything bagel with onion and tomato. You absolutely have to try the tuna salad. It's crazy stupid delicious. If going the route of cream cheese - they have plenty of options to chooses from but the scallion cream cheese is my go to. I didn't know this at first but I found out recently that their cream cheese is made in house which I respect. read more

Bagels in Queens are hit and miss but most of the time, its just average. Slims falls into this category. The menu is standard and the place is clean. Bagels here were fresh (I came before 7 a.m. on a Sunday) but the cream cheese was a bit sour for my taste (intentional?). Service here was a bit rough.
