We tried this place to break up our regular menu during the COVID pandemic. We tried three meals, buttermilk steak, pulled pork, and firecracker chicken. Two of these had five star taste, the buttermilk steak and the fire cracker chicken. The steak was very tough though, it could only be eaten by thinly slicing it serving it on a sandwich with some au jus to dip it in. I have to say ot was delicious though, maybe 4 stars all together. The firecracker chicken tasted great, was a bit too spicy and had too many pineapples, but overall pretty good. The rice that was served with it was terrible, one pouch over cooked, one pouch undercooked, we ended up throwing it out and using our own rice.. The pulled pork was definitely the dissapointment, especially since it had great reviews. The bbq sauce was pretty much just vinegar, ketchup, and onions. The pork came in big chuncks and almost an entire serving was just fat. My husband took one bite, spit it out and refused to eat it. Me and the rest of the family ate a little of it, but weren't at all thrilled. I ordered these meals expecting that crockpot set and forget it then serve it, but they required more prep and time than I would have liked. Their website says the portions are large enough for two light eaters, but thats not really the case with the meat entrees, more like one normal portion, much less than a typical restaurant would serve. For the size portions receive the price was pretty high, for $9.99 a portion I could get a pulled pork sandwhich with fries and a soda at a local restaurant and not have to make anything at all. Prepare ahead as what you get are frozen meals for your crock pot. The meals are tasty but I feel way over priced for what you get.

I got to admit I'm glad I stopped by I must have past by a million times yet never stopped. I didn't realize the guy out on route 352 in front of this place waving to all the cars going by is the owner. I thought it was a patient that escaped from the mental institution further up the road. My family and I recently tried What A Crock two "All American" and one "Winter Comfort" bundles for 2-3 people and are very impressed! My husband is a big eater but there are usually leftovers for my lunch the next day even after my two year old and myself eat. The meals have great flavor and a good consistency and I'm truly impressed. Our favorite so far is the Maple Glazed Brisket. We also live on the west coast. The shipments have been on time and are still frozen when we receive them. I look forward to ordering more in the future! They make the weeknights much easier! read more

My husband and I have tried 8 of the What a crock meals so far and have loved each of them! As a nurse who works night shift these meals make life much easier without eating unhealthy! The price is fair for having an already prepared meal that you only have to throw in the crock pot and set it & forget it! The beef & broccoli, Casey's kielbasa, Ham & cabbage and turkey stew have been our favorites so far. We will definitely keep these in our freezer for easy meals. I dont remember all of the dishes we have ordered but some of our favorites have been the Thai Chicken, creamy chicken fajita and New Orleans Braised Beef. Well let me start by saying that I bought a Groupon for this company without actually looking into it. My bad! But none the less I was willing to give it a shot as it looked really good. So I proceed to pick out my items, put them in my cart. I go to check out and get a message saying that there is a $40.00 minimum for shipping. My order was $43 but after I applied my $20 groupon well then it wasn't. So it wouldn't let me place my order until I had at least $40 even after the Groupon! So back I went to pick out more items. By the time it was all said and done with shipping I was going to be spending $58.00!! So much for my $11 for $20 worth of food Groupon! I was not happy and decided I'd rather have wasted $11 then place my order that I was very excited about and thought I was getting a great deal. Oh well! read more

I visited What A Crock when they first opened at the Market in Chestnut Hill. It was really easy to see all the product choices and descriptions and to decide exactly what we wanted to try first. The lady was so helpful and was able to answer any questions we had, having food allergies this was very helpful and so appreciated. Most of the time when u tell people u have food allergies they don't wanna deal with it and it's not always a good experience. Anyway, it was recommended that we try the New Orleans Braised Beef and suggested that we do mashed potatoes to go with it. There was no pressure to purchase anything other than what we had chosen. They asked if we needed any sides and I had potatoes at home so I said no, it was not a problem. The braised beef was incredible! Full of flavor, I didn't even need to add salt. It was so tender and easy to make. I made the mashed potatoes to go with it and it was a hearty, filling meal. We will definitely have this in the freezer for winter because it would be the best meal on a cold Philly night. So many ways to use this, it would be good with rice or different styles of potatoes. I've now purchased and tried four different items from What a Crock, and figured it was time to write about them. I've heard about this place and have driven past it a multitude of times; however I finally came to my senses and stopped to check it out. The employees are incredibly nice and educated and explained everything to me regarding the product and how it worked. I live in a house of 5, and with all our different schedules it can be quite difficult figuring out a dinner schedule. This is perfect for us, as we can just pop it into the crockpot in the morning and everyone can eat as they see fit. Blueberry Bliss Dessert - It's basically a blueberry muffin melted down into a super intense blueberry flavored molten-lava type mix. I've put it over vanilla ice cream, as well as topped it with whipped cream. Be careful not to overcook it or the inside of your crockpot will become super sticky. Smothered Cheesesteak Dip - First I have to say, I'm not a huge red meat eater, and I absolutely do not like cheese steaks. I tried a sample of this at their store and it was literally one of the best things I've ever had! I got a double serving and it lasted for 3 days! My husband and I ate it with chips and broken bread pieces to dip. My other family members tried a quick taste of it and weren't very happy we didn't want to share! I ended up getting it again the next week and (unhappily) shared it this time with the whole family. 5 of us ate it for lunch and it was enough for us all. New Orleans Braised Beef - Again, not a big red meat eater, however, this was so tender and juicy and tasted amazing thrown over some mashed potatoes. The sauce was fantastic as well and was clearly a homemade recipe. We had leftovers and put it on slider rolls to change it up for the next night's dinner. Chicken Parmesan Meatballs - Well, I'm disappointed to say that they are being taken off the menu in order for another meatball to make an appearance on the menu. They said they have a "meatball of the month", but I really hope these will be back again! I picked up the 3 serving size, which had 9 meatballs altogether with 3 portions vacuum sealed into 3 separate bags. I really liked this idea because if I wanted to make a small portion for only some of us, I didn't have to reheat them again. 9 meatballs might not sound like a lot, however, they are HUGE! I was worried 9 wouldn't be enough for 5 people, however we had leftovers. They are huge chicken meatballs stuffed with cheese and rolled in breadcrumbs. I think the real highlight of them however, is the "Italian Gravy" they cook in. I was told by the male owner that it's his wife's grandma's sauce and she's off the boat from Italy. You can most certainly taste that true Italian flavor! I'll admit, I'm a Ragu sauce girl myself, but I definitely used up all the sauce that they came with! I tried a sample of the Vegetable Chickpea Curry this weekend at the Booth's Corner location and it was really delicious, but I haven't gotten it yet for dinner. I'm gonna have to entice my meat loving family to give it a go sometime. Referring to another review regarding cooking instructions - All of my food that was an entrée came with instructions inside of the bag. I actually even have the cards on my fridge for easy reference. The side items are printed directly on the package or the container (desserts & soups). Also, concerning the complaint about discounts or coupons, if you simply check into yelp! You'll already get a discount. You also get a coupon emailed to you every time you get your receipt emailed to you. So delicious!! I'm a very lazy person when it comes to cooking but I also love to eat healthy so when "what a crock" opened in booths corner farmers market it was the best of both worlds!!! I can throw a meal in the slow cooker in the morning and when I get home from work ...boom gourmet meal ready to go! I have tried four meals and have been pleased with them all. My favorites have been the chicken crema and buffalo chicken mac and cheese. Grabbed two family portion meals from these guys, figured it would be easy to make on a busy day. I got the jambalaya and and the fiesta chicken. Both were so full of flavor and proportioned very well. I'm a bigger sized guy and it filled a family of 4 easily with leftovers. The jambalaya was by far my favorite, big pieces of protein in there and very juicy. Overall I couldn't have asked for more. Delicious fresh food, great sized meals, staff was nice and friendly, family owned which is always a nice touch. I will be getting more for sure. read more

Over all was a pretty good experience. The lady I spoke with was super helpful when i was choosing what to get. Ended up going with the cheesy chicken and scalloped potatoes. Packaging was pretty convenient with each portion separated and included instructions. The food it self wasn't amazing. Wasn't very cheesy and kind of bland. But still decent. I have had Casey's Kielbasi and the Chicken Pot Pie stew, both were very good. However, I bought the Pulled Pork, expecting that pork was already pulled. WRONG. Since the pork is not cooked when you buy it, you must cook and then pull. If these directions were on the package or the meal menu, I might not have bought. In the future I think the company needs to include pertinent directions on the packaging and direction cards included. Card says heat and enjoy, nothing about pulling the pork when done. What a mess. What a Crock Meals to Go is Amazing! I first discovered the company at Booth's Corner and was so intrigued by the name alone that I followed their signs through the massive market just to find them. I work all day and the last thing I want to do when I get home is cook. Most of the time I don't even have much in my refrigerator to cook since I haven't had time to go grocery shopping. What a Crock Meals to Go was the perfect product for me! I walked out of the store with Baked Ziti and Vegetable Chickpea Curry. I was so excited and couldn't wait to try to the product. I was also thrilled the company had vegetarian options. Both products were delicious! Since then, I've made the chocolate molten cake and french toast bread pudding. I've also tasted the peach cobbler and spinach artichoke dip. I have yet to find a dish I don't like; everything is so delicious! I'd recommend the company to anyone, especially those looking to save time prepping and cleaning up meals. It's so easy to just open the bag and put the frozen meal in your slow cooker. read more

Then I found What a Crock! We have tried about 10 of their menu items and we loved them all! It is so easy! They have a wide variety of choices, which works for my family. I haven't cooked a meal from here yet (having my first tonight - bacon mozzarella meatballs), but the customer service I received when purchasing was amazing and will keep me coming back. I was at Booths Corner last Saturday with my family and walked past What A Crock. I didn't realize they had a store there and I was very excited since I have never been able to get to the one in Brookhaven. We were offered free samples by the owner and I was hooked. The pumpkin apple soup was amazing, cheesesteak dip was delicious, and the beef stew was great. I opted for the chicken tikka, bacon mozzarella meatballs, and chicken marsala. The owner explained the cooking process, gave backstory on every meal I was interested in, and offered suggestions. All in all, really great experience. Nice people and - I'm hoping - good food. It smelled delicious this morning when I was loading it into the crock, that's for sure! Good sized meatballs too. I'll be going back soon to get the pumpkin apple soup! read more

I am currently, right-now, eating my second meal through this service, and I wanted to write my thoughts on it. The first meal we tried was the barbecue pulled pork. I thought it was pretty good. We made it Super Bowl Sunday and it made three modest-sized sandwiches on hamburger buns. No problem with it - not the greatest meal ever but certainly tasty. Tonight I am having chicken marsala. The chicken is plentiful and tender, and the sauce decent, although my husband wasn't too excited with it. Neither of us liked the rice, which is boil-in-bag minute rice. It just tastes gritty and chewy - not a fan. At about $20 per 2-portion bag I feel it's not as good of a value I thought it would be. I completely understand the effort it takes to create these meals, as well as market them, keep the lights on, and so on. But since I have to also prepare and purchase my own side vegetables, and any required rolls, etc., I just don't think I will go back again for more. We currently utilize a boxed food subscription plan, and I find that to be good for us in terms of value, nutrition, and variety. I was hoping to add this to the mix for those days where we don't feel like cooking, but I think we'll stick with our boxes. Also, while the pork needs to cook for 8 hours, the chicken has to cook for 4-6, and we are not home for about 8 hours, so it would overcook. I had to cook this when I got home from work and refrigerate for the next day (today). This is a good option for a busy stay at home mom or part-time worker who wants to serve a meal to her (or his) family without hanging over a stove all afternoon. It's just not for us. read more

Had several good experiences with What a Crock. Enjoyed meatballs & beef stew the best. One thing to be careful about is to check the discount coupons they give out. Was not aware they had expiration date that is hand written on the back. They do not honor if late. On last occasions pasta was not included with the order so be sure to check your bag before you leave the store. Otherwise glad this company is around for folks that are too busy to cook good healthy meals. read more
