Pita and falafel all served hot

This is some of the best Middle Eastern food I've ever had. The falafel were crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The pitas are served fresh and still puffy and warm. The dipping sauces were all fantastic. Even better, the woman behind the counter could not have been friendlier. We felt so welcome and we left so satisfied. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Hands down delicious. Nice owner, clean place, awesome price and not a thin paper burger like the others.

And the tahini shake was genuinely delicious, creamy but not overly sweet, and a perfect complement to the meal.

White sauce is added on top and other sauces (hot sauce, BBQ, and green sauce) are packed in small plastic containers and available to take on the side. I really enjoyed the food here; it was fresh and tasted better than most Halal carts in the city. There's a bit of a wait, but it's worth it! Service: Service is nothing special; there are many people cooking and 1-2 staff members taking orders. This halal cart opens at 6pm every day, and a line starts forming along the sidewalk well before 6pm. There were about 20 people ahead of us in line, and we waited for a total of 40-45 minutes before it was our turn. Once it's your turn, your order comes out pretty quickly. Ambiance: This cart is located on 6th avenue and 49th Street diagonal from Radio City Music Hall. The cart itself doesn't have any seating, but there are many tables and chairs directly across from the cart that are open to the public. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this spot!

For about $16 or so you get a ton of meat perfectly seasoned, tender and moist served over a bed of yellow rice plus a couple of narrow slices of pita bread and just the right amount of white sauce by default. Absolutely delicious! Straightforward to the point service. Street Vendor Casual egalitarian Street Food kinda vibe. PRO TIP: (as others have said): Long lines here yes, but you can skip most of it if you just order ahead for pickup from GrubHub, as they have TWO carts here - a new cart dedicated for these online orders, and their original cart for walk-up orders with the longer line.

Operating out of a tiny, fast-moving storefront, Mamoun's is a legendary staple of Village food culture, known for serving affordable Middle Eastern classics late into the night. Using their exact menu terminology, here is how the food breaks down: Shawarma Sandwich: Thinly sliced 100% lamb cooked slowly on a vertical spit with signature spices, stuffed into a warm pita pocket with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and smooth tahineh sauce. The Manhattan: One of their loaded signature sandwiches featuring deep-fried falafel, creamy hummus, smoky baba ganouj, and fresh tabbouleh, all packed into a pita with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, pickled turnips, olives, and tahineh. Famous Hot Sauce: Made in-house from imported hot pepper spices, this signature crimson sauce is famously potent--just a few drops add a massive kick of heat to any sandwich or plate. Lines often stretch down MacDougal, but the team works with speed to get sandwiches out in seconds. A timeless NYC destination for quick, authentic Middle Eastern food.

The platter comes with perfectly seasoned chicken over rice, along with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. I got the famous white sauce and hot sauce on the side so I could add as much as I wanted, and both took the dish to the next level. The chicken was flavorful, tender, and paired perfectly with the rice. The portion was generous and incredibly filling, making it an excellent value. Everything tasted fresh, and I honestly enjoyed every bite. That said, it was so good I could probably eat two platters! The line was long, but don't let that discourage you it moved steadily and was absolutely worth the wait. Whether you're a local or just visiting NYC, this is one of those iconic spots you have to experience at least once. it!

I don't go as much as I use to, as the price has more than doubled since 2017/18. However, that has nothing to do with my rating. My problem is that meats have gone downhill. I used to love gyro meat - never sure what it was exactly lamb or beef - but now it is just gross and greasy. The chicken which used to be excellent is now very dry. The white sauce is great and the rice is fine, but that is it. Not worth getting anymore. Maybe one of their competitors is better, can't really be worse.
