We ordered hummus with freshly baked bread, falafel in a flavorful sauce, and a lamb and chicken gyro sandwich, paired with a refreshing Turkish soda. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care. This was a small hole-in-the-wall spot, but it really impressed us. I also got to try the rice and grain, which were both absolutely delicious. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I am going to give Turco another big shout out as a great place to eat in Hell's Kitchen. Everything I've said previously still applies, but the seating area towards the back has been fixed up since my previous reviews. It looks much nicer now with more unified looking furniture, brightened up paint and even a panel offering a visual separation between the bathroom and seating area. The food has not changed at all, and that's a good thing. Their chicken gyro is still top notch. Their bulgar wheat side? Delicious. The hummus is still one of the best around and their fresh baked pita breads are to die for. Also huge shout out for their Dolmas which are the best around. In an amusing side note: I recommended Turco to a coworker who was visiting from out of town so he had a dinner here and he absolutely loved it and has talked about going back whenever he is in New York City again! read more

This is my second time coming to Turco and it continues to be a solid choice for Mediterranean wraps! They make their own bread in house and fresh, so it's always hot, fluffy, and delicious! I got the falafel wrap which comes with a bunch of toppings, hummus, and you can get it spicy. The falafel is so moist and delicious - one of the best I've had in a long time. The fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and are even better when you add pepper. Similarly, the mix gyro wrap is super solid and perfectly cooked! They give you a white sauce and a spicy sauce and both are flavorful and add a nice touch to the sandwiches. It tends to be a quick, relaxed eat, so perfect for a casual lunch. I think it's a mom and pop shop, so the service feels super homey and friendly. Overall, I will definitely continue to come here for a solid sandwich and service every time! read more

This place was a very hole in the wall area, and a hidden gem for sure. As soon as we walked in, the owners were so nice! The sandwich was such a steal. At 11 bucks, this sandwich was definitely filling and full of flavor. It came with 2 different sauces that my friends and I just kept dousing the sandwich in over and over. I've been coming here for about five years, which is why this is disappointing. The chicken gyro platter used to come with a very generous portion of chicken. This time the amount of chicken was noticeably smaller and did not feel close to what it used to be. I actually left still hungry, which has never happened to me here before. The sides have also changed. They used to serve cabbage, onions, and lettuce separately on larger plates. Now it comes on smaller plates with a small portion of mixed greens and just a little cabbage mixed in with onions. The reduction is obvious. Over time, prices have also increased incrementally, usually 20 to 40 cents at a time. Sandwiches that used to be around $10 but are now over $13. Small increases here and there might seem subtle, but combined with shrinking portions and smaller plates, the overall value has clearly declined. The food still tastes good, but steadily raising prices while reducing portions is not a strong long term strategy, especially with so many other Turkish restaurants nearby. In a competitive area, value matters. Loyal customers do notice. read more

We needed a spot to grab a quick dinner before a show in the area and X wa sin the mood for gyros. I think we arrived around 6pm on a Wednesday and didn't have any trouble getting a table. It's all table service if you're dining in, so no need to order at the counter. We both had the mix gyro sandwich and split an order of dolmas. These weren't the best dolmas that I've had, but the gyro was fantastic. The pita it came in was so fluffy and warm. The meat was moist and juicy. One of my favorite Mediterranean places. Right in Hell's Kitchen so my go to place when seeing a show or just in Times Square. The homemade bread they serve is outrageous and one of my favorite breads I've ever had. The chicken is super flavorful and with their white sauce and red sauce it's a perfect meal. Came back again and tried the gyro this time, but not a sammie. I had the combo rice platter with lamb gyro and chicken Adana. Both were really good and they really pile on the meats. They give you pita bread as well, which was fluffy and fresh. I dined in this time with 3 friends on a very rainy Tuesday at 6:30. There were actually quite a few tables dining but it seemed like the majority was takeout or delivery services. I think that's their main focus because our food took a while to come out. They also forgot my chicken Adana. I probably wouldn't do dine-in again, especially since the seating area kind of has a toilet smell (which is weird because the bathroom is actually pretty clean and pleasant smelling). But the meat was authentic and delicious. My eyes were too big for my stomach on this plate. Came in for a late lunch (3:30pm) before watching a Broadway show. Only a few tables available and we were lucky to snag one. Food - The portions were huge. Wish they could've added more rice but it's not a deal breaker. Ordered a chicken gyro and chicken Adana combo plate while my husband ordered a mixed gyro plate. Sauce bottles were served alongside your meal, no need to order extra. Taste wise, I thought their food was bland and under-seasoned. I've had Turkish food elsewhere and this place is perhaps the most Americanized version of it. Even the sauces lacked flavor too, all I could taste was lemon instead or garlic in the white sauce. 3/5 Service - Quick and no-frills. We were seated about 5 minutes after we walked in. Server was friendly and attentive. 4/5 Ambiance - As you walk in the restaurant, you're greeted with a hot case of food and sides. The place was hot, I don't think the AC was running well.
