I went to whataburger 10/1/2019 and placed a to go order at 0515. My food was served at 0536. I traveled home to discover that although I ordered a breakfast burger with double meat and cheese, it was single. My chicken strip sandwich was DROWNED in BBQ sauce. I travel back to have the order fixed at 0544. Ruby the manager seemed to have an attitude that she prepared the order wrong. She admitted that she did not see that I ordered extra meat and cheese. She remade the food. My order was finished at 0613. They offered me an apple pie for the fact I spent a literal hour trying to get food.This time before leaving I checked my order at the counter. In the bottom of my bag with my burgers and fries was a black bug that looked like a small roach or a louse. I point this out and Ruby tries to convince me that its just a piece of food in the bag. The cashier Jack H. dumps the bug onto the counter top and Jack H., Ruby, and the second manager (I don't know her name but a tall Caucasian woman with black hair) acknowledged that it was in fact a bug. At this point, Jack offers me a new bag...not new food. I ask him is a new bag going to negate the fact that a bug was in there with my food. Ruby and the other manager began to speak to as though I am being unreasonable because I no longer wanted food that had a bug in the bag. During the refund process, I asked for a copy of the receipt so I can call corporate and they said they cant give me a copy because its not my copy. I had to persuade them to give me the number for corp. The woman (African american with braids) that worked drive through was the only person that seemed to have manners and understand because while they were refusing to give me a copy of the receipt, she came over and asked them whats their problem. She said something to the effect of "this man has been here an hour for his order, had to return it, and then was sold food with a black insect in the bag...and you are not willing to give him the number for corporate." I was refunded my money and not apologized to or offered any type discount or consolation for my wasted hour. I left an hour later in the same condition, hungry and unfulfilled. Its funny because almost every time we go there the food is either cold, drink machines are too syrupy, or the order is incorrect. Not being a native Texas, I thought that all Whataburgers were this low quality. However, working in the city of Houston, I learned that there are some very good Whataburger locations. I am just confused how anyone there could have an attitude with me for wanting what I paid for and not feeling that simply placing the food in a new bag takes away to fact that the food was sold with a pest in the bag. Too many young kids working here. Over heard an employee talk mess about a customer because she said no mustard on her burger and she wanted it fixed... He was saying "she acting like that mustard gonna kill her, waisting my time to make her a brand new f****** burger". Plus, my order has came out wrong too before. It took 30 min to get it corrected. I was missing a burger with bacon, and 10 min later, they sent me back another burger without bacon (looked like the same burger). It took another 20 min to just add bacon on my burger. Just spent 45 mins in the drivethru, not at all an uncommon wait time for 4th car in line at this location. I waited 75 mins once from the same place in line. Okay, let me start off with the good. Whataburger's tenders and chicken pieces are the best thing ever cooked in all of humanity, their fries are DELICIOUS, and their Sweet Tea never fails. But, the employees are not as welcoming and nice as the food looks or is. They do take a while to get your order ready, and you can never know whether or not you would have to get up and get your food or they would bring it to you (which is honestly not that big of a deal, but it's just inconsistent). Our local Whataburger is pretty ok. Sometimes the service is slow or chaotic, but we've learned to cope by checking our orders when they come out. The folks here are nice, just disorganized. This Whatabuger night shift is horrible... As always either the food is old or the order is messed up. My husband went through the drive thru late night as we tend to do and ordered a double meat combo. He told the lady three times no mustard. He comes home and there is mustard on the burger. At this point he's more upset with himself for not checking the food. BECAUSE WE KNOW BETTER, dealing with this location. He walks in over to the counter with his bag and waited patiently while he was ignored. I never take the time to write these reviews but damn this was my first time at this whataburger and certainly my last, as soon as my family and I walked in we noticed their ac was out or something didn't pay much attention to it, thought maybe we'll just make our order to go, but then as we were making our way to the drink dispenser the floor had puddles of water, we let that slide too, thought maybe it just happened they'll get to it in a little bit but this is what made us just ask for our money back and head tf out! When we went to pour ice onto our cups you could see some black spots scattered around in the ice so I just dumped the ice out tried again 3 times to see if it kept coming out and finally I tried to figure out what in the world the black spots were I reached in my cup and pulled out black slimy substance which I believe was mold. But they have two registers and only use one which slows the process down a lot I stood in line for at least 25 minutes which is not a fun time when you're hungry after yelling for your team all night and want to sit down for a hot meal.
