Service is terrible. I understand good help is hard to find, but hire a manager that can handle the operations, then find employees that can do the job. We spent over sixty dollars on a takeout meal for the family. There were several workers working and not very many customers. We waited over 40 minutes to get our food and then when we go home, the order was missing several items, no apple slices, and two missing orders of onion rings. This is a lot of money to spend for missing items and extremely slow slow service. I would guess that business isn't very good at this location due to poor service. Very disappointed. read more

Took my family for breakfast on 1/4/2026 at 10 am. We ordered at the kiosk as nobody was at the counter. Family of four ordered a total of eight items. We were the only people at a table and nobody waiting at the counter. It took 22 minutes from the time on the receipt to receive four items at our table. We had to go back to the counter and wait for somebody to help us, then show the receipt and tell them what we were missing. Definitely not a breakfast place at all. Finally made it to the Whataburger in Athens during their grand opening week. The drive thru was packed, and took me about 25 minutes to get through (to be expected because new restaurant/busy/etc). The staff were very friendly and working very hard. I have 4 stars instead of 5 simply because my wait was a little long and they forgot to include my ketchup. Finally made my way to Whataburger. I tried to go inside only to be told that inside dining was not available yet! This should be made aware to the customer with a simple sign on the door or in the parking lot. As I watched an older couple struggle to get through the parking lot just ahead of me. The drive-through was relatively quick, even though the attendees did not know how to get me my free burger for setting up the app on my phone (which you can not order online at this time). Also, the time of time may have helped with the speed of the service. I was there at about 2:00 in the afternoon. I ended up getting the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and a drink. I've been waiting for over 20 minutes for my order. It would have been less time if I had cooked for myself or gone to McDonald's. I had gone during the grand opening week and wasn't really impressed with their service but the food had been good. Just went back tonight for the second time and Breanna who had taken our order was pretending to speak in an accent that it made it seem we were talking to a recording. She had also been giggling in the background that she didn't even get the rest of our order correct. She had asked if I had wanted sauces with my wings which I did, got up to the window and was charged for the sauce (which wasn't even in my bag). Went inside to grab the sauce and they were out of it....overall definitely not impressed with this location and hoping the one opening near Athens Tech will have better service. Obviously, they are great at marketing and hype. Other than that, it's only one notch above Racetrac and QuickTrip. Should be renamed to what a farce! Trying this popular spot for the very first time. What a waste. Well they turned a potential custom to a never again customer. They took an extremely detailed order and then they provided less than was discussed.As we sat in the drive thru for quite some time, my dinner mate asked was the food going to be hot based on the time it took to get to the pickup window. She was reassured that everything is made fresh and would be hot. Burgers were cold with a slice of unmelted cheese, which would have melted to some degree if the burger had been hot. Kept seeing all of the cars lined up and, though I'm not much of a fast food person, decided to give it a try. The nearly $10 burger and fries were slightly better than most fast food burgers. Maybe it's that their fries were cooked in fresh grease. The Whataburger is rather large and the basic ingredients listed are mustard, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles. I asked to omit the onions since I don't like them and add mayonnaise. So, when I got it home, it had onions; the mayonnaise had been added, but there was no mustard. This is the slowest drive-through service on a daily basis for burgers in Athens. The employees at the window are always very nice, but the management can't make the kitchen run properly. I just waited to grab a soda only snd there was one car in front of me who had already ordered. It took 17 minutes for me to pick up a soda. There were 7 cars behind me when I pulled out. Mind you it wasn't like there was only 1 or 3 people alone no there where more. Once we got to the window the lady which I forgot to get the name of but she was very rude. we asked for another straw and she was so rude it wasn't like she had to go far to get it, it was right in-front of her. I honestly wish people would hire great and nice workers instead of people who don't wanna be there. If you as a worker don't wanna be there then why be there.
