First location in Charlotte, and I've never had it before, so had to try it. Not to mention it's 2 miles down the street from our house. Visited on a Sunday around 11:30am and all went very smooth. Short line, fast service, and food came out correct and HOT! We tried their jalapeño cheddar burger, definitely would get that again. Fries were good, but onion rings were delish as well. Good fast food burger joint addition to the area. Give the staff some grace as they manage through their first opening, training, and dealing with the Charlotte customer base.

Here's my take on the new Charlotte Whataburger (plus a little brand context for folks new to it.) Whataburger started in 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas, founded by Harmon Dobson and Paul Burton, and became famous for its orange-and-white A-frame stores and oversized buns. The family sold a majority stake to BDT Capital Partners in 2019, which helped fuel expansion east. North Carolina got its first location in Gastonia in May 2025 and Charlotte's Albemarle Road spot opened in September. Now the food: I finally went to see what the hype was about. For me, hype often equals nostalgia... people get excited because a place from "back home" arrives in their new city. I didn't grow up on Whataburger (long live In-N-Out), so I came in clean and ordered the Sweet & Spicy Bacon Burger which had two patties, bacon, American and Monterey Jack, grilled onions, and that sweet-heat pepper sauce. I added tomatoes because every burger should have them, IMO. It's a massive fast-food burger and makes you wonder why anyone would choose a basic drive-thru when this exists. For fast food, it's leagues above most though not the best I've ever had, and it still can't touch a great local smashburger (think SureFire at Camp North End or Bae's in Mooresville). The onion rings were fine but needed more crunch. Overall: not my personal GOAT, but if you grew up with Whataburger, having one in Charlotte is pure nostalgia and I can't hate on that

Maybe in a month or 3 To crowded and slow for lunch, 25 minutes for just a burger Pricier than expected Reading may need to be added to the hiring and training curriculum When you ask for no onions, you expect no onions. With the amount of people in the kitchen, maybe someone needs to oversee the cooks. Left a lot to be desired, not what it is in other locals.

Tables and floor very, slow delivery of food. Fries soggy, burger average fast food at best.

The food was good. The staff needs more training ASAP. Looking at similar reviews I see this store won't be here long.

The Whataburger is phenomenal, and I particularly enjoy their milkshakes; I would definitely recommend it.

Walking in, it looks clean and put together. We were greeted promptly and opted to sit at the bar. They have daily specials, which is always a plus in my book, and plenty of options for food. I must say, while sitting at the bar, everyone demolished their meals and we all had something different. If you check this place out, I recommend trying the sweet potato tots. They were the recommendation that made me stop in initially. I have enjoyed my visits here over time.

I came in on a Saturday evening and there was a bit of a wait for a table, but we were able to grab a drink nearby and didn't mind the wait, we figured it must be worth it. It sure was! There's a reason they are a crowd favorite, and it has to do with the food, the service, and the reasonable prices. I elected to have the Buffalo chicken quesadilla, and we started with an order of cheese curds. They also look like they have some delicious wings and burgers. If I lived in the Mint Hill area this would be one of my go to's when I wanted a nice meal and a drink or two. Nothing fancy. Just good food for a reasonable price!
