This was up there with the worst fast food burgers I've ever eaten. SO DRY. My brother insisted on trying a burger because we were flying back home to Toronto and he said the "Texas" experience wouldn't be complete without trying a classic Whataburger (the #1 is what we ordered). Which mad lad in the Whataburger lab thought it was a brilliant idea to only put mustard in the signature burger? It just didn't work for me. On top of that, the patty was dry and the bun-to-meat ratio was off (more bread than meat). I don't like calling anything trash but yea ... the burgers here ain't it. The only item I would actually consider returning for is the patty melt as I heard so much hype about it online. Definitely NOT a burger though. I've eaten at In-N-Out multiple times. There's absolutely no way this place is being put up against In-N-Out for burgers. In-N-Out smokes this chain. It's not even a contest. I'll put a double-double, animal style burger from In-N-Out up against anything at Whataburger. Staff was very friendly though. I will say they only get 2 stars because my burger was absolutely delicious. The service and timing was awful. We walked up to the counter and were ordering just 2 burgers and she read back literally 5 times that we order a combo. we had to correct her every time. It was like she wasn't even listening. It was so annoying. Well, we stood there and waited and waited and there was only 1 person ahead of us but it took forever for them to make the two burgers and we had to get the airport quickly to drop the rental car and were running out of time. WOW...what a burger indeed! Wish we had these in Utah! Kinda' reminds me of a Jack-in-the-Box burger place due to all of the options WAB offers. Of course, my entourage had a few former Texan's in the mix and they HAD to make WAB their first stop. So right there near the DFW Rental Car Facility was this venue (part of a gas station)...and we had to stop (it was a long morning/afternoon by that time after having just arrived in from SLC, and we were all hungry.) I had the regular What-A-Burger and fries w/ drink combo and it was very good. Really liked the onions and mustard topping which added some nice flavor. Most the time it's easy to overlook or just assume that a food place attached to a gas station isn't going to be good... that's the exact opposite of this place! When I walked in through the gas station doors I was warmly greeted and then once again at the Whataburger register. It was breakfast hours so I got their honey butter biscuit meal.... that thing is deliciously messy! One of my favorite parts is that it comes with hash browns... but they have mini ones, I can't describe them but you need to try them!!! I think they're my favorite now! The only down fall is that is relatively small and it gets crazy busy during lunch hours, but the people are some of the nicest I've come across. I'd heard so much lately about Whataburger and the comparisons to In N Out, so I finally got the chance to try it out when in Texas. This location is right next to DFW airport and is built into the gas station convenience store. For starters: the service was friendly and good and the restaurant was clean. Now to the burger: I ordered the #1 meal, the standard whataburger. Obviously there are more options than at In N Out, but you could also say that about every other place. The first thing I noticed was how fresh the burgers and fries were. No soggy old burgers and stale fries here. The fries are on the thinner side, I'd say they are most similar to McDonalds' fries. So far so good. The burger was fresh and tasty; since I was hungry after a day of flying, it did the trick. The bun is a potato bread bun I believe. The burger was good and tasty and the condiments were fresh. The mustard layer was definitely noticeable if you like that sort of thing. The burger kind of reminded me of a burger you'd eat at a backyard bbq. All in all, I'd say that comparing this to In N Out would be like comparing apples to oranges. My opinion is that Whataburger is less unique than In N Out in terms of its product, but the quality does shine through and I can tell why it has earned people's praises. Of course, I have yet to try the other options on the menu, so I suppose I have something to look forward to next time I find myself passing through the Lone Star State. read more

That's the third time I've been to this location n it will be the last. Every time I have been there it has been an issue with just getting to have my order taken. Stand in line and watch the customer in front of me handed their order wrong with something missing or not correct..? The employee walks back and forth ineffective from the kitchen to the counter multiple times. I've seen the same non caring attention of management and the workers towards taking care of the next customer. Whataburger is great n the location is perfect yet I wIll never go back bc I've never felt valued to be taken care of once out of three different trips at different times of the day. The night crew here is terrible. Can't get food orders right and they take forever. Day time crew is awesome. Night time crew will fix your order but again it takes forever. Sigh. Had a layover in Dallas and had to take an uber to get my favorite burger in Texas. Whataburger in Texas is like In n Out in California but Better! The burger is bigger and there are more options like the ketchup! They offer spicy ketchup! My favorite is the Jalapeño and Cheese whataburger. First Whataburger experience ever. Scratched off another item off my bucket list. Didn't have time to step into the establishment as I was trying to return my rental car and get to the airport. I ordered a basic burger, paid the bill and must have sat there for what felt like 5 minutes. Cars began to line up behind me and I started to get a little anxious...so not exactly FAST food. Boarded my flight and after take off, began chowing down on the burger. Already cold at that point, it was still pretty impressive and satisfying to eat. Perhaps eating this burger in the plane -- pardon the pun -- "heightened" the experience especially when compared to the paltry airline snack offerings. I've been coming to this location for YEARS. I drive a vehicle that take CNG and one of the 2 locations I get gas is in the airport. Never had a complaint until today. Posted on the door it specifically states that if you have a vehicle that won't fit through the drive-thru to come inside for a to-go option. So I went inside, a manager was sitting in a customer seat enjoying her breakfast playing on her phone. She asked if she could help me and i told her I needed to place a order to go, she instantly sighed and called for a lady behind the counter to help, then she told me to stand behind the homemade wall they built with her delightful attitude (mind you I'm now around 10ft away from the registers) at this point I was done with her crap. Service was great. The Jalapeño Cheese burger was a good size. The bun was flattened and the lettuce was the yellow lettuce from the inside of a iceberg lettuce. Kind of ruined the burger. Next time, use the greener part of the lettuce. read more
