Overcooked fries and chicken. They took forever to get us our food. Very little inside.

This restaurant has wonderful space--they have indoor seating and then a separate, HUGE pavilion. We opted for the pavilion because it is dog-friendly. It was perfect--multiple TVs, long bench-style tables for parties of all sizes, a stage for live music, a small bar area, and outside of it, pickleball courts! To eat, I ordered some "Mozzarella Cheese sticks," a "Brisket Sandwich," and a side of "Mac and Cheese." The cheese sticks came out fresh with cheese melted and dangling with every bite as it should. The brisket in the sandwich was moist and tender and the Mac and cheese was also very flavorful and delicious. I topped it off with some sweet tea. The cherry on top for us was the wonderful customer service--a manager/owner came out and spoke with us, asked where we were from and thanked us for coming by. Great hospitality. We had an amazing experience here and would recommend Massey's to anyone!! Can't wait to come back whenever we're in town.

Live music and BBQ, does it get any better? My wife and I were in Glen Rose for a weekend getaway…read more The hotel we stayed in recommended Massey's and had their live music schedule posted in the lobby. We love live music. We really enjoy good BBQ. We were not disappointed! Massey's is located on the highway between Glen Rose and Granbury, adjacent to the golf course. The building is decorated with pages that kids colored. There's an arcade. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The live music takes place in the outdoor seating area. I ordered the Massey Mess with pulled pork. It's a frito pie with delicious BBQ. The serving is massive. My wife had the loaded baked potato with brisket. She couldn't finish hers either. Both dishes were delicious. The meat was tender and full of flavor. All the ingredients were fresh. The service just couldn't be beat, beginning with the owner. Todd Massey himself greeted us as we came in and gave us a warm welcome. He answered all our questions about the menu. How often does THAT happen? The serving staff is sweet, friendly, and attentive. We never had to wait. They brought our food to us and checked on us often. Free refills on drinks. The music venue is very family friendly and roomy. There are fans on the perimeter and ceiling fans to keep everyone comfortable. The lighting was great and the sound of the band was too. There are ample clean bathtrooms. We sat there on a Saturday evening eating delicous BBQ and listening to good music. There were kids playing in the grassy area behind the pavillion. Couples got up and danced to their favorite songs. There was a nice breeze blowing. In the distance you can see the golf course. Folks, it just doesn't get much better than this. Mr. Massey even made sure we had a good time and thanked us for coming as we left.

The location alone makes it worth a visit, with beautiful views of the water and a relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for spending an afternoon or evening outdoors. One of the standout features is the outdoor music stage. It is perfectly positioned near the river, and they consistently seem to bring high-quality bands to town. If you enjoy live music, this is one of the best venues in the area. The combination of great music, river views, and an outdoor setting creates a fun and memorable experience. The seating options are spread throughout the property, with tables and chairs on the deck overlooking the river as well as additional seating closer to the stage. Because the venue is popular, it can be challenging to find a seat near the stage during busy events, so arriving early is a good idea. The food was another pleasant surprise. We ordered the burger and a pizza, and both exceeded our expectations. The menu is casual, but the quality was better than we anticipated and paired well with a night of live music. The craft beer selection is somewhat limited, but the prices are reasonable and there are enough options to satisfy most visitors. One thing to keep in mind is that the venue is largely open-air. During the Texas summer, it can become uncomfortably hot, especially during the afternoon. Fortunately, the atmosphere and river breeze help make up for it once the sun starts to go down. Overall, this is an excellent place for live music, drinks, good food, and socializing with friends while enjoying beautiful river views. It has a laid-back Texas Hill Country feel that makes it one of Glen Rose's most enjoyable gathering spots.

They had an open mic when we were there on a Sunday, and the talent was great! They were pretty busy, but they had outdoor and indoor seating. The service was friendly, but not the fastest in the world. We had a brisket sandwich with onion rings ($14.95) - the quantity and taste were great, but the food was just lukewarm. Their wood-fired pizza is very tasty. It's a thin crust, so I love that! Pints of most craft beer is $5.00, so that's a bargain. There's a 2.9% admin fee on your check when you get it. When I asked what it was, they said it was for using a credit card. They didn't know I was using a credit card when they brought the check to me, so pay attention to it if you are paying with cash. They'll remove the fee if you ask.
