    #24 Breakfast Burger

I'm so pissed , after a long day at work I wanted to enjoy a good burger from whataburger, but these idiots over night can't get sh** right dawg. I asked for no egg on my burger , ok coo they got that but I also asked to sub the sauce that comes on it for sweet and spicy sauce. I get home my goddamn burger is plain no sauce just dry. If I wanted a plain f****** bacon cheeseburger I would've ordered that. L service , person on the mic acts like he can't hear and don't speak English. I was literally the 2nd car no one else in line so how was it that hard to comprehend a simple task. GET IT TOGETHER!!! Wish I could just leave the stars blank , terrible location.

Great service every visit and a consistently clean interior. There are way worse locations in Houston.

The inside definitely has a Cajun feel to it with the decor; very Louisiana. I was greeted and made the 4th quarter decision to get a muffuleta, chips and a canned pop. My order came quickly and I was on my way. The sandwich itself was BIG. Loved the olive salad. The cuts of meat were quality. Prices are reasonable Loved it. Worth the visit if you can.

So when I decided to give Angelo Z's a try, I came in hopeful but ready to judge with the precision of a seasoned shrimp connoisseur. First, I'll give credit where it's due: the place is designed beautifully. Clean, inviting, well thought-out décor. The staff? Top-notch. Friendly smiles, fast service -- the kind of welcome that makes you want to pull up a chair and stay awhile. But then my shrimp po'boy arrived. And that's where things took a turn. The bread was toasted -- yes, toasted -- which, for a Louisiana po'boy, is already a red flag. To make matters worse, it wasn't even the traditional French bread that's light, airy inside, and has that delicate crackle on the crust. Instead, it was a dense, over-toasted loaf that crunched like I was chewing on a roofing shingle. Then came the real deal-breaker: I bit in and realized the shrimp hadn't been deveined. At all. And for anyone who knows seafood, that black line running down the back isn't some "seasoning" -- it's grit and waste. One glance at that and my appetite clocked out. I understand I'm not in Louisiana anymore, and I'm all for creative spins on classics, but there's a line between "putting your own twist" on something and missing the fundamentals altogether. Unfortunately, this missed the mark in a way I couldn't overlook. Beautiful space. Wonderful people. But for me? A shrimp po'boy that isn't deveined, on the wrong bread, and toasted into oblivion isn't a po'boy worth coming back for.

Jollibee is still more popular than ever and these four stars are really for what I hope they'll stand to achieve, not what they've been as of late. :: Red Ribbon is of no more (#1) and now Jollibee stands practically alone in its own little corner of the plaza. Instead Baker's Son By Valerio (#2) across the parking lot has become the pseudo Filipino carb hotspot that is resonating well with the community. :: Things are more expensive than ever. A 10 piece is practically $25 and family meals (aka bucket treats) are anywhere from $39-53. In spite of being one of my most made-up words in review form, Foodflation deserves another mention because it absolutely applies here. :: They now have mac and cheese on the menu. It has the same consistency as Popeye's or KFC, which is really not good. it's salty, tastes artificial, and is paltry in portion, especially when considering the price. :: They are also slower than ever. Even when there isn't something happening at NRG, the wait has been as long as 45 minutes for group and I, and even longer for a large order. This is for both takeout and dining in. For drive-thru goers, one will be directed to an open parking spot where they'll eventually bring the food out. :: For folks needing points via the app, it can only be applied using a phone number. They have no ability to scan anything on the app itself. It's just a tinge backwards. The other Jollibee locations are better in terms of execution, but this just happens to be the only one inside the loop. Location is not everything. __________ (#1) https://www.yelp.com/biz/red-ribbon-bakeshop-houston-3 (#2) https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-bakers-son-by-valerios-houston

It's been YEARS since I've visited a Jollibee, and it seems both the individual locations and the brand as a whole have made a lot of upgrades and changes for the better! The kiosk ordering system is a nice convenience, and (specific to the Houston restaurant) the establishment has been renovated for a more modern & minimalist look. Also worth mentioning: The restaurant was clean, and the crew was organized and efficient. Go, H-Town! Now, the food: I don't dislike the spaghetti, but it's still not my cup of tea... I still can't wrap my head or my tastebuds around the sweet & sugary sauce, and the addition of fatty hot dogs just don't do it for me. The adobo rice is overrated, in my option... a lot of garlic and salt, but missing the essence of adobo. I'll also pass on the biscuit next time (dry and didn't have much going on). However, I totally get why the fried chicken has become so viral! Super crispy, but not greasy. Great flavor & seasoning without being obnoxiously salty (think Popeye's cousin who went to college). And, thanks to TikTok, I enjoyed a chicken skin taco (skin stuffed with rice and drown it in brown gravy). Yummmmm! ChickenJoy is definitely where it's at.

But the menu is very confusing and no matter which burger you order, all patties are the same size. I just wanted a plain burger with lettuce and tomatoes and no cheese. She suggested the deluxe burger which I didn't see on the restaurant's board. After I finished the burger I was left wondering what the difference is between deluxe and the amateur. Amateur has no lettuce nor tomatoes according to menu. The cashier told me the difference was the inclusion of cheese on the deluxe I'm looking at the takeout menu and the amateur does have cheese. Why can't they just sell a burger and charge you extra for the cheese. These folks need to simplify the menu, especially if the patties are the same size; and they're tiny by the way. I could redo their menu if they hire me. Another thing that perplexed me was that the "amateur" description says meat and the "deluxe" says patti. They should just list one plain burger and go down the line with increased prices as the options like cheese are added. The sesame bun is quite tasty but overwhelms the minute beef. Let's just say I wasn't knocked out with the confusion. Where's the beef?
