Visited Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken while in Houston. The atmosphere was casual and laid-back, and the service was friendly and efficient. Stopped in for takeout, and everything was solid across the board. Tried their fried chicken -- crispy, flavorful, and well executed. A cool touch I appreciated was them placing slices of bread on top, which helped keep the chicken crispy during the ride home. The sides were solid as well -- I especially enjoyed the collard greens. Another plus, there's tons of parking, which always makes things easier. Overall, a reliable spot for good fried chicken and worth a return visit. Saluti.

Fantastic Dark Chicken & Sides togo !!!

I picked up a 2 Piece Dark Meat with collard greens and mac n cheese togo. Very good chicken and sides with very comforting tastes and rays of delicious flavors all the way through. The chicken pieces had a nice brown, crispy skin with good spices. The chicken meat itself underneath the skin was very juicy, smooth and tender in every bite. You could tell they prepped it well. The collard greens were very moist, earthy, spiced and savory with a refreshing vibe all in one. Very tasty. Collard greens, celery, spinach and broccoli are my favorite green veggies, so had to get this one for sure. I was debating between the baked beans and mac cheese, but recommended mac bc it pairs better as a side with the greens. Very tasty, sticky, gooey, deep yellow in color n taste and seasoned well. Think of the 90s K F C mac cheese back when it actually tasted very good, but still even better from Gus's WFC regardless. Great, succulent jalapeños on a note too. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful and efficient service on this first time visit.

I try to find a Gus' fried chicken wherever I can. This was the second location I tried. It is near the Texans stadium slapped smack in the middle of an otherwise unappealing shopping area. Don't let tha fool you because once you step inside you are greeted with exceptional service and mouth watering food. The food; fried chicken of course. I order the four piece with some fried okra and some greens. My momma would have loved this place. The restaurant is a welcome reprieve from the surrounding area and is clean and well maintained. Now, this is spicy chicken, but don't be a sissy. I don't like food so spicy you can't enjoy the actual food. This is just the right amount of spice and delicious juicy chicken. Don't forget the sweet tea, y'all!

Always a must when I visit Houston, the great food and great customer service always keeps coming back to the same location. Aaron was a great waiter and was attentive at all times and made us feel welcome. The location is great and there's enough space and it's not cramped.

I just haddd to go and see what the hype was about.. and let me just say it wasn't so bad! The fries were good, and I think they were fried along beef tallow or something.. cause they were good af w/o the seasoning lol The chicken was good too! And honestly everything taste good! Now I wouldn't go as far, as to say that it's the best / world famous.. but it's up there! If you go to this location there's a lot of parking.. I mean a lot lol! There's no drive thru or anything like that so be mindful.. I would have also appreciated if my meal came with a drink but hey.. maybe I'll try next time and order a drink

It's been a minute since I last made it to Gus's, but man--it was just as good as I remembered. The chicken came out hot, crispy, and fresh, exactly how fried chicken should be. Tonight we started with the fried okra, which was a great warm-up before diving into our mains--2 dark chicken pieces and 3 tenders. Every bite was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The inside has that cozy southern feel, like you're stepping into a spot that's been part of the community forever. Our waitress was sweet, attentive, and full of good southern hospitality, which just made the meal even better. If you're looking for quality fried chicken done right, Gus's is definitely worth the stop.

A plate of breast and wing with slaw and baked beans with bread hiding under the breast.

I've been to Gus Fried Chicken on Kirby close to the NRG stadium. I think I'll skip during FIFA unfortunately. Food is spicy mildly not Ghost Pepper or Jalapeño Hot but a nice burn. Spiced food is in vogue now even though it's been around for a while. Self seating on going inside they will find you quickly. A limited beer selection if you dine in. It's a stand alone place in a strip shopping center. The place gets busy at lunch time but they move very quickly . A lot of take out was seen. It got good rating in the local paper. The menu is limited to chicken so they don't try to be everything to everybody. The chicken came out hot (temperature) I got a plate. A plate is chicken - slaw - baked beans - white bread. Not fancy but flavor was excellent. They have other sides (Southern style). Sorry large breast (chicken) filled me up - I'm a lightweight anymore so I skipped the starters and desserts. Plastic utensils - pressed paper plates and plastic cups and plastic table cloths it isn't fancy its comfort atmosphere and food. Note they have another location on 1815 Washington Houston. I did not go there.

My waiter was great attentive but not to buggy. He was very helpful with the menu, food came out perfect time fresh and hot. Very clean inside sports on the television really cool vibes. 10/10 would recommend anyone to try them.

I was on my way to Fiesta Mart when I found this location! I had to stop to try. We were a party of two, dropped in for dinner on Easter. We were promptly greeted by a friendly server. We ordered: 3 wings plate w/double fries 3 pcs dark w/Mac & cheese and fried okras one piece catfish - my only complaint, for $4 this was very small but flavorful The food was great, sports channel playing on TV's, everyone was friendly, plenty of parking, and clean restrooms. I will be back again for the fried chicken plates!

Gus's fried chicken says they are the best and it's hard to argue. I've been to this locations many times now and it's always good and sometimes better than others, thus the 4 stars. Some days it's a 5 star but I had to be fair overall. Service was just ok, and the restaurant seating and atmosphere is fine but new laminated menus are desperately needed. That's never a good selling point with a worn or stained menu. The chicken breast was a touch dry this time yet the rest was good including beans and fries. You'll enjoy the chicken and I hope it's a 5 star day.

Good afternoon. My wife and I patronized your establishment today. Order #81, at 3:36pm, Kirby location in Houston. We were at Ross looking for a rug and need a quick bite to eat, before a staging. I have to say, I am surprisingly disappointed. I took the time to read about the Bonner's, while we waited for our order. First, the order was wrong. The young lady mentioned that she did not charge us for the one chicken strip, but can put it in. A 5 minute wait. As she hands me, our order. My wife does not eat chicken on the bone. We declined, due to our schedule. I did give her a piece of my chicken. She enjoyed the chicken. I can taste the flavor in the skin, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The breast was a little dry for me, but she enjoyed it. The wing was juicy, which I enjoyed. The fried okra was good. I like the bread with it, being country myself. One slice was fresh and the other slice not. The mac and cheese was horrendous. The noodles tasted like they were not fully cooked. One bite from each of us. The quality, does not match the price. This was our first time in there. It was nothing to write home about.

Flavour, flavour, flavour…read more Service and atmosphere: Very good in both areas. All staff were polite, professional, and helpful. The restaurant is spacious, very clean, well organised and nicely decorated. Food and drinks: We tried Nando's chain in London and were regularly visiting it. I am glad that we found Nando's in Houston. The food choices are great. You can opt for half or full chicken, hearty bowls, starters, and big selection of small additions. All dishes ordered arrived on time and were super flavoursome. Foods were well prepared and tested very good. You can accompany your food with beer or wine. Pricing: $$ - standard prices and well worth the quality experience we received.

They offer a daily small Happy Hour, a decent rewards loyalty program for frequent customers and their Sauces!! Which I may add are available for purchase and I might have a few flavors at home.......shout out to the Medium Garlic! They offer parking in both the front & back and a semi shaded small side patio. A few small changes that I have noticed since their opening: they no longer offer lunch portions/specials and sadly the Rainbow Bowls no longer come with turmeric cauliflower Oddly, as many times that I have visited, I am either the only one there or at most, 1 of 3 people max. Hopefully it's just the early afternoon time of day I always seem to stop in because I would really like this place to stick around. And as much as I enjoy a good rewards program, their scanner has never worked once since initially joining so I have to manually input my receipt barcode into the app. Not a big deal but I haven't redeemed any rewards yet either so hopefully that will be a smooth process. And if I may end on a suggestion, Please lower the music by 2 levels. I have to put my noise canceling AirPods in every time because it's just a tad too loud and distracting to hold a convo. Other than that, Welcome to the 'Strose Nando's!

In the short few years since my initial review, there have been numerous changes that now require…read morean update. Jollibee is still more popular than ever and these four stars are really for what I hope they'll stand to achieve, not what they've been as of late. :: Red Ribbon is of no more (#1) and now Jollibee stands practically alone in its own little corner of the plaza. Instead Baker's Son By Valerio (#2) across the parking lot has become the pseudo Filipino carb hotspot that is resonating well with the community. :: Things are more expensive than ever. A 10 piece is practically $25 and family meals (aka bucket treats) are anywhere from $39-53. In spite of being one of my most made-up words in review form, Foodflation deserves another mention because it absolutely applies here. :: They now have mac and cheese on the menu. It has the same consistency as Popeye's or KFC, which is really not good. it's salty, tastes artificial, and is paltry in portion, especially when considering the price. :: They are also slower than ever. Even when there isn't something happening at NRG, the wait has been as long as 45 minutes for group and I, and even longer for a large order. This is for both takeout and dining in. For drive-thru goers, one will be directed to an open parking spot where they'll eventually bring the food out. :: For folks needing points via the app, it can only be applied using a phone number. They have no ability to scan anything on the app itself. It's just a tinge backwards. The other Jollibee locations are better in terms of execution, but this just happens to be the only one inside the loop. It's been YEARS since I've visited a Jollibee, and it seems both the individual locations and the brand as a whole have made a lot of upgrades and changes for the better! The kiosk ordering system is a nice convenience, and (specific to the Houston restaurant) the establishment has been renovated for a more modern & minimalist look. Also worth mentioning: The restaurant was clean, and the crew was organized and efficient. Go, H-Town! Now, the food: I don't dislike the spaghetti, but it's still not my cup of tea... I still can't wrap my head or my tastebuds around the sweet & sugary sauce, and the addition of fatty hot dogs just don't do it for me. The adobo rice is overrated, in my option... a lot of garlic and salt, but missing the essence of adobo. I'll also pass on the biscuit next time (dry and didn't have much going on). However, I totally get why the fried chicken has become so viral! Super crispy, but not greasy. Great flavor & seasoning without being obnoxiously salty (think Popeye's cousin who went to college). And, thanks to TikTok, I enjoyed a chicken skin taco (skin stuffed with rice and drown it in brown gravy). Yummmmm! ChickenJoy is definitely where it's at.

Nice cozy place, perfect setting for fried chicken. I am sure they had other stuff, but that was the mission for this visit. Had the special which was to legs and two thighs for the price of the 3 pc dark. Beans and slaw. Ok, the chicken was great, moist, seasoned, very well cooked. I will go out of my way to go here for the chicken. Beans, canned with a little flavor added, nothing to brag about the slaw was pretty good. The fries on my friend's plate looked great. Perfect. We got here at about 1145, the place was busy. By 1215, it was packed, but they move people through and do a booming take out. Try it, you will like it. It satisfied my fried chicken desire and. The young lady at the front did her best to accommodate us by apologizing, giving us a free cobbler and juice for the little one. We ordered a few different things: fried whole wings, dirty rice, yams, cabbage, mango habanero wings, fries, red beans and rice and Kool-aide. The fried wings, rice, fries and cabbage were well seasoned- you could taste the butter in them. My son wasn't crazy about the red beans n rice or mango habanero wings. He said it was more beans than rice and the wings lacked flavor. The Kool -aide was super sweet (as expected), but I added water to make it more palatable. While waiting we talked to some other guests Who decided to wait. Later the cook came out and chatted a bit- he was nice. Overall, food is good just come with patience.
